A/N: *cough* Hey guys. *cough* It's your good buddy DrPhill fighting through *cough cough* FUCK I HATE BEING SICK! ... *cough* Dammit... fighting through a cold to give you an update to this story. *cough wheeze*
Tyler: Dude, take it easy. You seriously look like death today, you need to rest.
DrPhill26: Nope, can't rest until my readers get a chapter. *cough*
Wendy: Do I need to get more tea for your throat?
DrPhill26: You are such an angel Wendy. *cough* Thank you...
Tyler: So instead of focusing on recovering, you decided to stress yourself out by writing more of our story.
DrPhill26: Well it has been all summer since I updated last. *cough* Last year I wrote so much, this year I haven't done shit.
Tyler: Because you're sick and have been busy with your camp work. The readers know that.
DrPhill26: Which is why *cough* Fuck me I hate this! ... Which is why I needed to write this chapter because I now have the time now. *cough* So before I get you sick, go read this chapter. Go on, shoo! *wheeze* Oh... right, team descriptions are still at the bottom of the chapter so *cough* I hate my life... Go read and have fun while I suffer in agony.
"Could you please stop staring at that badge already?" Wendy huffed in annoyance as she shot a glance back at Tyler. "I get that you're happy you won the badge and all but-"
"Of course I'm happy I won" Tyler interrupted as he slowly rotated the badge in his hand. The angle of the light was making the Forest badge in his outstretched hand sparkle in varying hues of green from emerald to jade to forest green and even pure silver at the right angle. The simple allure of the badge was hypnotic to Tyler as he lay there on the bed in the Pokémon Center.
"It just hasn't really sunk in yet. I mean, I beat a Sinnoh League Gym Leader. I actually did it and this badge is proof of it. Do you have any idea how many trainers in Orre actually have a badge that they can say is their own?"
"Yes actually…" Wendy rolled her eyes with a sigh. "About-"
"Five percent." She and Tyler both said together, though Tyler said it with pride and Wendy's voice was painted in annoyance. "You said that so many times yesterday that I doubt I'll ever forget." Wendy continued.
"I'm just so excited." Tyler laughed as he threw the badge up and caught it. "It was so fun to be on the arena to have that battle. My body was shaking in excitement the whole time. My heart was practically beating out of my chest when it was down to Magnus and her Roserade."
"Yes yes I know Tyler." Wendy groaned as she went back to her laptop and a waiting email.
"I mean, Magnus was weak enough from the…" Wendy tuned out Tyler's glorified play-by-play of the Gym battle for what had to have been already the fifth time in the past 24 hours since he won the Forest badge. The first time it was still cute as they were both still in that adrenaline filled high together. But Tyler still hadn't come down from that high ever since the quick party that Wendy threw for him after the victory last night. He was telling everyone about how amazing of a win it was and how good of a trainer he was. Now that it was a day later and Tyler still hadn't come off his high, Wendy's patience with the topic was beginning to wear thin.
"I know that you are tired of hearing the story master, but you know that Sir Tyler only wants you to share in his excitement." Pulse's voice chimed into Wendy's head from his seated position on the floor next to her.
"I know that Pulse. I know." Wendy replied as she brushed her fingers through her hair. "I just wish he'd get excited in a different way, one that doesn't involve words coming out of his mouth."
"I'm certain that if you wanted to, Sir Tyler would be more than willing to have se-."
"That's not what I meant Pulse." Wendy rolled her eyes and smiled as she now rubbed Pulse's head. "But it's still not a bad idea. If nothing else, it'd get him to shut up for a few minutes."
"-goes and learns Lava Plume right in the middle of the battle! Like what awesome timing is that! New move in the Gym when the match is nearing its climax, it doesn't get much more awesome than that!" Tyler grinned from ear to ear as he tossed his badge yet again.
"That's great Ty." Wendy said with false enthusiasm as she bit her cheek to prevent herself from saying anything more.
"But you want to know the really surprising part of that whole battle?" Tyler sat up and looked at Wendy. She looked up briefly from her laptop expecting him to just tell him if she sat there long enough. But Tyler's silence rapidly ate away at her so she gave in.
"What would that be Tyler?"
"I should have lost…" Tyler's voice dropped all the previous enthusiasm in an instant as he looked at her seemingly for some sort of comfort. Despite all of his previous enthusiasm that was literally a few seconds ago, Tyler looked like his heart had been torn out of his chest. His eyes looked vacant, glassy even as he shook his head and stared at the badge.
"I was way too overconfident. Even though I went in there with three Pokémon strong against Grass types, that damn Torterra of hers managed to decimate my team without breaking much of a sweat."
"But you did manage to beat him. You should be proud that you were able to beat such a powerful opponent." Wendy said encouragingly, but Tyler only shook his head again.
"It only served as another reminder of how cripplingly weak my current team is to Rock type Pokémon." Tyler held up his fingers to accent his speech. "Caelum and Felix are both Flying types, Yuki is an Ice type and Magnus is a Fire type; all four of them are weak to Rock type attacks. Gardenia's Torterra is able to take out all of those types with one attack. It just takes a hit and then Stone Edge and BAM! Her opponents are wrecked… I got so lucky against him."
"I wouldn't say lucky. You used the weather twice to your advantage against."
"But I only used Hail, not Sunny Day." Tyler countered. "Sure the Hail made him unable to recover as much as she needed, but if her Leafeon hadn't used Sunny Day against Caelum, Magnus would never have been able to take advantage of it and do all the damage he did against it. Luck."
"Perhaps, but you had the quick wit to take advantage of it when you did." Wendy insisted as she shut her laptop. "Don't be so hard on yourself."
"It's not that I'm trying to be. I'm just saying that without a counter to Rock types, my team is going to really struggle through the rest of the league. Especially with that Gym Leader who specializes in Rock types."
"Speaking of the Sinnoh League, do you have any idea on what your next stop is?" Wendy asked as she sat on the bed next to him.
"Sure as shit isn't Oreburgh City, I know that much." Tyler quipped with an eye-roll. "I am not challenging a Rock type Gym Leader with this team." Wendy sighed as she placed an arm around Tyler's shoulder.
"And I guess Hearthome is out because Ghost types…" Wendy giggled as she felt Tyler shudder in her arms. "Well, you could always go to Veilstone City and challenge Maylene. She's a Fighting type specialist so Caelum and Felix would do pretty good there."
"Fighting type huh," Tyler said giving Wendy's suggestion some thought. "Man that would be perfect."
"What would?"
"Having a Fighting type Pokémon to call my own." Tyler fell back on the bed placing his hands behind his head. "Did I tell you Fighting types are my favorite type of Pokémon?"
"I seem to remember something like that." Wendy bit her fingernail as she remembered something. "I think you said that at Candice's Gym when that guy used his Breloom." Tyler nodded his head as he too remembered Candice's opponent from that day. "You never did tell me why though."
"It comes from my family's police background." Tyler explained. "Officers in the PCPD can have two Pokémon trained for police work on their person when they're on duty. But of the two, one of them has to be a Fighting type per department regulations."
"So what does your dad use?"
"As far as I know my dad keeps three Pokémon." Tyler paused a moment as he tried to remember them. "He has an Magmar who isn't trained in police work, a Poliwrath which is his Fighting type, and a Nidoking named Leroy, who was his first Pokémon."
"Kanto region bias huh?" Wendy rolled her eyes as she fell back on the bed, bouncing softly on the mattress.
"Well, to be fair, Kanto region Pokémon are the cheapest to import to Orre because that's the closest region." Wendy scooted closer and snuggled next to Tyler. "I dunno if you noticed but Orre doesn't exactly have wild Pokémon roaming around like Sinnoh and the other major regions. So if you want a specific Pokémon, you have to buy them from a breeder in another region and it isn't exactly cheap. Hell, when I got Caelum as a Starly, I had to save up half a year's pay at my part time job to get him. Yuki was even more expensive than that, took me almost ten months to get her."
"Whatever it cost you, it was worth it. Eevees are always worth it." Wendy let out a sigh as she stroked an imaginary Eevee's fur. "You don't know how jealous I am of you right now."
"Of what?"
"That you have a Glaceon, duh…" Wendy playfully pushed Tyler's head with her hand. "I've wanted an Eevee ever since I was a little girl. But my parents didn't think I was responsible enough to take care of one and once I started raising Pulse and Tess, they told me that I should focus on them instead of adding another Pokémon to look after. Now I've got you constantly teasing me with how close you and Yuki are together doing all the stuff I've wanted to do for so long."
"What, you mean like sleeping with it?"
"Not in the sense you're probably thinking." Wendy sighed longingly as she looked at the ceiling. "I'd spend the nights cuddling and snuggling with him under a blanket, or petting his fur as he slept on my chest. Then in the daytime we'd wake up and I could put him in all these different super cute outfits and the like and just laugh with him all day long. I'd spoil my Eevee rotten if I had one."
"I'd probably do the same with a Fighting type if I had one. Though, change the spoil part with training and working out and whatnot." Tyler agreed. "I can still remember the day I fell in love with them clear as day. My dad took me to work one day and we walked past one of my dad's coworkers sparing with his Medicham in the gym and it was just awesome to watch. I just stood there mesmerized as they exchanged punches with each other. Jabs, uppers, hooks, that Medicham was incredible. Heck, dad literally had to drag me away from the window by the back of my shirt to get me to stop watching them fight." Both Wendy and Tyler laughed for a bit before Wendy rather abruptly sat up in the bed leaving Tyler looking confused.
"Forget something?" He asked as he sat up as well.
"No, I just thought of something actually." Wendy looked at Tyler with a serious expression, then scooted back on the bed and sat before Tyler. "Okay, hear me out because I think I have an idea to solve your team's problem with Rock types."
"I'm listening…" Tyler said with suspicion in his voice. As far as he could tell, Wendy's ideas usually ended up with him in some compromising situation, so he'd learned to take most things she said with a grain of salt. But there was something in her voice, a level of seriousness beneath the excitement that made him think she had a legitimate idea.
Wendy looked over at Pulse and Tyler could tell that the two of them were talking about something, probably whatever Wendy's idea was. The look of surprise on Pulse's face made Tyler even more curious as the Lucario had also started shooting glances at Tyler. He didn't feel the pull of Pulse's voice inside his head like he would if the Lucario was trying to use Aura to communicate with him, but it was obvious that he was being talked about. That's when the light bulb went off in Tyler's head, Pulse was part Fighting type. Was Wendy seriously considering loaning Pulse to him so he could fight the Rock leader in Oreburgh City? As Tyler made the thought, he saw Pulse looking back at Wendy and nodding at her, which made her eyes sparkle with joyful magnificence.
"Okay, I think we've got something good here." Wendy clapped her hands excitedly as she turned back to Tyler on the bed. "I was just talking it out with Pulse and he thinks it's a good idea too, so now I need to get it to you.
"Alright, what's this idea of yours?" Tyler asked cautiously as he looked back and forth from Pulse and Wendy. Wendy took a deep breath, clapped her hands together and looked at Tyler with the most serious expression he'd ever seen of her.
"I want to propose a trade between us. A Pokémon trade." Tyler slowly nodded his head as he could confirm that what he thought was what Wendy was talking about.
"I had a feeling you'd say that…" Tyler paused a moment as he thought about the merits of this possible trade in his head. He needed something to counter Rock types badly, and Pulse being both Steel and Fighting typed had a dual advantage on them. Plus he'd be ready to fight and probably very easy to work with because Tyler already was fairly close to him. Of course though, that meant he'd have to give up something in return, even if it was just for a short time. And Tyler knew that Wendy would most likely want to take Yuki in exchange. Even if it would be for a short bit, and would benefit them, Tyler still didn't like the idea of trading any of his Pokémon, even to someone he knew. It was his team that he'd raised for months and years; it just wouldn't feel right to add someone new to the team who wasn't caught and raised by him. Not to mention he couldn't see himself wanting to give Yuki to Wendy. She was his princess. Even if Wendy and Pulse might have both been willing to part with each other for a bit, Tyler didn't think he could.
"And although I appreciate the offer, I don't think I can agree to that. No matter how bad I need a counter to Rock types, I can't just take Pulse from you. I want to take on the league by myself. If I use someone else's Pokémon, it just wouldn't feel right you know? That and, well you know, Yuki's kind of my princess. I don't want to be apart from her at all."
"Good because that wasn't what I was asking."
"Huh?" Tyler sat there in disbelief. Wendy wasn't proposing a trade with Pulse? Then what was she proposing as a solution to their problems? "You mean you don't want to trade Pulse for Yuki?"
"No… well kind of, but not really. I mean, what I have in mind involves the two of them, but it isn't a literal trade between the two of them."
"So it's like a temporary loan where I borrow Pulse long enough for him to help me and you look after Yuki?" Tyler asked again to try and make sure this was what Wendy was thinking.
"No, that would still be a trade Ty. We're not going to be trading Pokémon in the literal sense of the word. But this plan I have does involve Yuki and Pulse to help us get what we both want out of a trade."
"Alright now I'm lost." Tyler admitted as he blinked through his confusion. This still wasn't making sense. How do you trade Pokémon, without trading Pokémon? Wendy groaned rather loudly at her boyfriend's inability to figure out what she meant. "Hey, it's your plan not mine. You sound like you actually have a good idea in your head, but you're beating around the bush so I can't understand it. Just tell me, break it down bit by bit if you have to."
"Yeah, you're right… Sorry," Wendy apologized. "It's just that this is a rather awkward proposition for me to make of you and Yuki. I'd definitely understand if you said no."
"Then tell me already, what are you asking us to do?" Wendy rocked nervously on the back of her feet. She looked at Pulse seemingly for encouragement as he stoically nodded at her. She brushed one of her blonde highlights out of her eyes before taking a deep breath, seemingly to collect herself before turning back to Tyler.
"I want to make Pulse and Yuki have a baby together."
Tyler sat there on the edge of the bed completely stunned as Wendy laid her plan before him point-blank. This was as far from what he could have expected her to ask of him and he had no idea how to respond to it. Was he supposed to be angry, because that's how he felt immediately after hearing the question. Just the idea of someone besides him being intimate with his Glaceon was enough to send his heart into a rage. He looked up at Wendy however and his anger quickly subsided, as she showed the same mixture of emotions wandering through the haze in her emerald green eyes.
Her eyes were the ones of doubt, of uncertainty and mystery as she too was going through the same emotional roller coaster that Tyler felt himself going through. Maybe she wasn't angry like he was, but she wasn't entirely sure of herself either as the words left her mouth. Tyler realized then that the same thought was probably going through her head regarding Pulse. Sure the argument wasn't the same; she was asking a lot more of him than she was of herself in this proposition. But she was essentially giving the Pokémon she loved the most to someone else. The dawning of that fact on Tyler's mind was enough to remind him to calm down and listen to Wendy's plan fully. She hadn't done anything to misguide his trust in her yet. And they were boyfriend and girlfriend; that certainly meant that he should at least hear her plan out before jumping to any conclusions like he had previously.
"I take it that stunned silence means no?" Wendy sighed as Tyler still hadn't responded for a while. "I understand why you'd say no. I am asking an awful lot of you to get you to agree to this trade of ours. Pulse and I might be comfortable with this idea because we're already open minded to relationships, but you and Yuki only just became active so she may not be ready for something like this. Not to mention this is a lot to ask you as well considering that your Yuki's lover and here I am asking you to not only let her sleep with another Pokémon, but also impregnate her. I know it's a lot for you to take in at once… Oh dammit, I didn't mean to phrase it like that if this is bothering you. I'm sorry."
"Hey, don't go putting words in my mouth." Tyler smirked as he looked at Wendy. "I'm not saying no."
"You're not?!" The momentary look of pure joy on Wendy's face made her glow with excitement and her eyes began sparkling like fireworks. "Then does that mean you're okay with our trade?"
"I'm not saying that either, but I'm definitely considering it." Tyler looked seriously at Wendy, inviting her to sit back down on the bed beside him. "The only reason I haven't straight up said yes at this point is because I know hardly anything about Pokémon breeding, so I don't know what I'd be getting Yuki into if we agreed to this."
"Okay, leave everything to Professor Riding today cutie-Ty." Wendy boasted proudly as she held her hand over her heart and adjusted her seat on the bed. "Now if this gets complicated, I can slow it down for you, but I think I can explain this in a way that you'll be able to understand what I mean."
"Sure, whenever you're ready." Wendy took a breath, a smile on her face as she looked at Tyler to begin her lecture.
"So, do you know what egg groups are?"
"Pokémon lay eggs?" Wendy looked at Tyler in astonishment and had already opened her mouth before Tyler quickly continued. "I'm kidding; I know that they lay eggs. But I'm not sure what egg groups are."
"Good because I was seriously about to slap you." Wendy rolled her eyes and shared a quick chuckle with Tyler. "So, any two Pokémon can sleep with each other if they're both in the mood, but only certain Pokémon are able to successfully make babies with each other. Pokémon that can make a baby together are then classified into groups of other Pokémon that they can make an egg with, hence the term egg groups. These include Monster, Fairy, Water-1 and Human-like among others." Tyler nodded as Wendy continued.
"Now both Glaceon and Lucario are in the field egg group so they'd be able to have a baby together. I hope I don't need to explain to you how exactly that works…"
"Well, I know you need a male and a female to do it, but I think I need a refresher on the mechanics." Wendy snorted in laughter as she rolled her eyes at Tyler.
"Maybe later, but let's not get too sidetracked okay?"
"Oh fine…" Tyler jokingly sounded disappointed as Wendy cleared her throat.
"Now, so the two Pokémon breed and if they are successful the female will eventually lay an egg. But for whatever reason the egg will always hatch into the species the female Pokémon is."
"So if Yuki and Pulse were bred together, the egg would always hatch into an Eevee?" Wendy nodded.
"Right, my dad would be able to explain why that happens but I don't remember off the top of my head."
"Then how do I end up getting anything out of this trade?" Tyler questioned. "Because if Pulse and Yuki breed, we won't get a little Riolu, it'll be all Eevees."
"Oh that's easy. I'll just get my dad to call in a couple favors when we get to the daycare in Solaceon Town to get Pulse a second partner to sleep with." Wendy answered. "If we don't get a female Lucario, which might be difficult because the gender ratio of male to female is as unbalanced as it is with Eevee, then we can just use and we'll have our Riolu egg too."
"Mr…Diddles?" Tyler shuddered as the words left his mouth. Something about the name just felt wrong to say.
"Mm-hm, that's my dad's Ditto. If we can't find Pulse a partner then he'll just sleep with Mr. Diddles. Don't ask about the name, I don't know and I get the feeling that I don't want to either."
"Alright then…" Tyler quickly cleared his throat. "So if we agree to this idea of yours, then we'd be letting Pulse sleep with Yuki and let them have a baby. And if they do that successfully, you'll let Pulse find another Lucario or that Mr. Diddles guy and then they'll get a baby."
"You got it. So at the end of the day, you get a Riolu that could evolve into a Lucario of your own and I'd get an Eevee of my own to evolve into an Espeon… or Jolteon… or maybe I should get a Vaporeon… I can't decide, all of them are just so cute!"
"Well… I have to admit, I really do like this plan of yours Wendy." Tyler said as his hand brushed against an empty slot in his trainer belt. "Since I met you and Pulse, I've been about as jealous as you were at me for having an Eevee at me not having a Lucario like you. All those aura things that you two can do like the telepathic talking, that Reiki stuff. And after seeing how in-sync you two are in battle, I would love to have a Lucario fight alongside me across the Sinnoh region."
"That sounds like a yes to me!" Wendy laughed gleefully as she put her hand before Tyler. But Tyler didn't reach out to shake her hand. Instead he grabbed Yuki's Poké ball off his belt and held it before Wendy's outstretched hand.
"You're right; it's a yes from me. But it's not up to just the three of us." He enlarged Yuki's ball and pressed the button to release her from the ball.
"Glaceon!" Yuki sat on her haunches beside both humans at the edge of the bed. She smiled at both Wendy and Tyler, her tail swishing back and forth lazily in place.
"Ultimately, it's up to her if we go through with this." Tyler explained pointing at Yuki who looked at her trainer curiously. She walked up to him and stood up, placing her front paws on his knee.
"Glacie?" Tyler pet Yuki's forehead lightly and her smile grew larger.
"Hi Yuki, could you tell we were talking about you?" Tyler smiled just as warmly back at Yuki. "Wendy and I had an idea that we wanted to run by you that would help all of us out in the long run so I want you to hear it."
"Glaceon?" Yuki dropped back to all fours and looked curiously at Wendy. "Glae Glae?"
"Well you see Yuki… Actually hold up…" Tyler's gaze shifted back to Wendy. "How are we doing this again?"
"Just tell her what our plan is. She'll understand, I'm sure of it."
"Yeah but how do we know that for sure?" Tyler frowned pointing his hand at Yuki. "I can't talk to her like you and Pulse can; we can't use aura to communicate. So how do we know that she'll be okay with everything that we're going to talk about?"
"Um… Tyler, you just answered your own question."
"I did?" Wendy wagged her two fingers over to summon Pulse to her side.
"Do you remember the day you got the massage from Nurse Kohl and how Pulse connected our thoughts together for a moment?" Tyler nodded. It was kind of hard to forget the events that happened that day. The awkward tension between them at first that melted away as the room heated up, her playful Flareon and Yuki's stonewalling of him and of course the massage itself was still fresh in his mind. Of course he also remembered how Wendy tricked him into stealing a massage of her own that day through aura manipulation, which they enjoyed for a moment until a snow bank put a halt to one of their enjoyment of the day.
"Yeah, I remember that."
"Well, Pulse can do that with you and Yuki too. It might be challenging as it puts a lot of strain on Pulse's mind to do that, but he can link the two of you together and manage the connection long enough for you to talk to Yuki and explain everything you need to her. And of course I'll be here too if you need me to try to talk things through."
"And here I thought I couldn't get more jealous of you and Pulse. Yeah, let's do this." Tyler nodded as Pulse stood up and approached Tyler. His fist became outlined in his signature purple colored aura as he lightly placed it on his forehead. Like it always did, Tyler's vision blurred briefly before he walked over to Yuki and knelt beside her.
"Hey Pulse; I really appreciate you doing this." Tyler said through the connected link.
"Take all the time you need Sir Tyler." Pulse's voice calmly echoed in Tyler's head. "Even I understand that this is not an easy thing to ask of you, let alone of your Glaceon."
"Yeah, thanks for your concern."
"Try not to think too loudly at first." Pulse softly explained as he looked at Yuki and placed his paw on her forehead. "Pokémon that are new to this form of communication can get headaches quickly if their partners are not quiet. So speak as loud as I am to you and things should go fine."
"Alright, I'll try to keep that in mind." Tyler's voice softeed as Pulse's paw glowed purple for a second time.
"G-glae!" Yuki recoiled from Pulse's brief touch, shaking her head a few times as his aura began to flow through her. He stood up and walked back towards Wendy's side as the Glaceon began wobbling on her legs.
"Whoa, I feel dizzy." A soft, gentle sounding voice played in Tyler's head, which made him cover his mouth in surprise. Yuki shook her whole body as Tyler lowered himself to his knees. He could hear Yuki's voice and understand it, her actual voice. It was almost like something out of a dream. Tyler pinched his arm to make sure it wasn't a dream and felt himself squeezing his arm. Nope, the brief surge of pain told him this was definitely reality.
"What did you do to me?" Yuki asked as she looked at Pulse. The Lucario however didn't say anything in response, at least that Tyler could hear. He only smiled that cocky smug grin of his and looked over at Tyler instead.
"Are you alright Yuki?" Tyler asked. Yuki turned around and walked up to her trainer looking confused.
"Master, what did he do to me? I don't feel too good."
"It's okay Yuki; you'll be alright in a moment." Tyler reached out and picked up Yuki's front legs, gently guiding her to a laying down position on the floor. "Just lie down and take it easy for a bit."
"Okay, if you say so master." Yuki smiled at Tyler appreciatively as he began lightly petting her back. Although a small band of blush dotted Tyler's cheeks as he picked up on Yuki's choice of words in referring to him.
"Um… Yuki, can you not call me master? It's a little embarrassing to hear you say that." Yuki's body shivered briefly and then she stood up and jumped back from Tyler with a look of shock on her face."
"You… you heard that? You can understand me?"
"More or less." Tyler smiled as he pet Yuki's forehead. "Pulse joined our auras together to allow us to speak to each other like this." He pointed to his lips. "See how I'm not moving my lips but you can still hear me?"
"My master is a Psychic type?!" Yuki's voice sounded astonished as she hopped back in surprise yet again. Tyler immediately burst out laughing. He sat down on his knees and quickly fell over, now laughing into the floor which slightly muffled the noise. It was just too cute and too funny. He punched the floor with his hand twice as the laughter grew louder.
"Okay, what did I miss?" Wendy pouted. "What did you do Tyler? Tell me!"
"Psychic type!" Tyler spat out the words as he took in another breath of air that was just as quickly expelled. "She thinks… Yuki thinks…" Tyler tried to explain but the words were being smothered by laughter. It just wasn't possible for him to speak.
"Did I say something weird again?" Yuki's voice sounded in Tyler's head, making him look back at her. Her ears were drooping in embarrassment and she bashfully shifted her body back and forth.
"No of course not!" Tyler laughed as he grabbed Yuki and pulled her into a hug.
"M-master!"
"I thought I said don't call me that." Tyler teasingly poked Yuki's nose as he rolled on the floor with her in his arms. "And no Yuki, you didn't say anything weird. It's just the way you sounded so surprised was hilarious. I couldn't help but laugh."
"So you're not a Psychic type?"
"Of course not." Tyler snickered, wiping a tear from his eye. "Pulse did this so we can talk to each other about something really important."
"Are you going to tell me what happened or am I going to just stay in the dark?" Wendy pouted, hands on her hips before Tyler told her to be quiet with his finger.
"What do we need to talk about?" Yuki asked as Tyler put her back on the floor again.
"It's a little complicated but let me start by asking this instead." Tyler paused a moment, deciding to be a little bit indirect at first. "What do you think of Wendy? Like do you like her?"
"I do." Yuki nodded. "I like her almost as much as I do you." Tyler felt his heart twinge in his chest at Yuki's words.
"Okay good… what about Pulse?"
"The Lucario?" Yuki now looked at him as he continued to sit against the wall. "I'm not sure. I haven't seen him much and we've talked less than that, but I guess he's nice."
"Alright, that's a good start as well." Tyler sighed, knowing what needed to be talked about next. He took a deep breath, trying to focus his thoughts, but as he did the only thought that entered his mind was that of Pulse on top of Yuki as they slept together. Tyler grit his teeth; the earlier anger at this part of the proposition resurfacing. Sure if he went through with this, he could get a Riolu, and Tyler really wanted to have and raise one of his own. But this cost seemed like it was too much for him to give up, especially now that he had to ask Yuki about it.
"M-master? Are you not feeling well?" Yuki's voice asked above Tyler's internal debate. "You look like something is hurting you."
"My heart hurts Yuki." Tyler admitted as he placed his hand over it.
"Will this help?" Yuki jumped into Tyler's lap and snuggled her cheek against Tyler's chest. Almost instantly the pain in his heart was washed away, replaced with a calm and cheery mood.
"Yeah it did." Tyler kissed Yuki's forehead, feeling the energy to speak again back in his throat. "Alright, I need to be serious with you Yuki. What I'm about to ask you, you have every right to say no to. I'm not forcing you to go through with this unless you want to and you're comfortable with doing what I'm… no, what we're asking of you." Tyler gestured towards Wendy and Pulse as well as himself.
"I'm listening." Yuki nodded and Wendy placed a hand on Tyler's shoulder to give him some extra encouragement.
"Right… Wendy and I have been doing some talking today about the last Gym battle and our performance in it. Specifically the fight against Torterra." Yuki nodded in understanding. "Torterra caught us completely off guard with that Stone Edge attack of his and reminded me that our team is severely weak to Rock types right now. So we need to find a counter to Rock types if we're going to continue our challenge of the Sinnoh region." Yuki nodded again.
"So, Wendy came up with a plan on how to get us that counter that we need. She's willing to offer us a Riolu that we can raise as our own teammate."
"Really? That's so nice of her!" Yuki beamed as she looked at Wendy. She tried to squirm out of Tyler's hands, and Tyler could feel her desire to show her thanks for Wendy's generosity, but they weren't finished yet.
"You can thank her later Yuki, but there's something we have to do first… something you need to do before we can go through with that plan."
"Something I can do?" Yuki looked at Tyler curiously.
"In order for her to get us a Riolu, we need to give her an Eevee…" Tyler bit his cheeks, trying to keep his strength with him as the thought of Pulse and Yuki popped into his head again. "And to do that, you would need to be bred with Pulse."
"Bread? Like the food?" Yuki looked even more confused, but at least it made Tyler snicker and alleviate some of the pressure he felt.
"No no, not the food. Bred as in, you need to…" He paused again as another thought went into his head. "You remember the night you evolved?"
"Of course I do, how could I forget?" Yuki smiled excitedly. "When you took care of me when I got hurt, I was so happy! I knew I could count on you for anything after that. And then when you let me evolve, I was even happier!"
"Yeah, that was a great night aside from us getting hurt." Tyler agreed. "But do you remember what happened after you evolved and that thing we did when we were in the cave?"
"Um… yes." Yuki bashfully admitted, her tail slackening seeming to Tyler at least to cover her backside.
"What um… what did you think of that?" Tyler asked, sharing in his Pokémon's embarrassment. "Was it good?" Yuki didn't respond immediately, but Tyler could feel a variety of emotions in Yuki's thoughts as she tried to organize them.
"It hurt a bit at first." Yuki finally began. "I didn't know what was going on and my body felt really weird. But I trusted that you wouldn't hurt me intentionally and that after a while it would get better like with the medicine. And then it did get better after time and it started to feel better. Then I felt your love across my body, I felt really happy and tingly again like I did when I evolved earlier in the night. I… I think I liked that."
"Thank you Yuki." Tyler hugged her yet again. "You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that."
"But why did you bring that up? What does that have to do with this plan you mentioned?"
"Well…" Tyler took a deep breath, finding the courage to finally say it. "In order for Wendy to give us the Riolu, I need you to do that same thing we did in the cave with Pulse. That's what it means to breed. You would need to let him put his… put himself inside you like we did."
"I see…" Tyler frowned but nodded his head. It didn't sound like Yuki was as gung-ho about the plan as Wendy, Pulse and he had been. He could feel her emotions inside of him, feelings of doubt and uncertainty being the most prevalent as Tyler could recognize. Or maybe he was confusing them with his own feelings, his own hesitation to ask Yuki about this plan.
"That's right. If you breed with Pulse, we'll get a little Eevee egg that we can give to Wendy. And if we do that, Wendy will find a second partner for Pulse to breed a Riolu egg that we would receive. That's the entirety of our plan."
Yuki looked at the floor deep in thought as she now knew the plan in its entirety. Everything was up to her and her decision now. That uncertain feeling still remained in the pit of Tyler's stomach as he watched her. How could she say yes to this proposal? Tyler just wanted her to say no and be done with it already. There were plenty of spots in the Sinnoh region to get Pokémon that went well against Rock types. He didn't need a Lucario as badly as he wanted one. He'd be just as fine with a Water type of some kind, and the guidebook the day he'd found Felix said that Sinnoh had tons of Water types roaming around. In fact, both Shellos and Buizel could be caught along the rivers south of the Eterna Forest and were incredibly common sightings there. He could just go there and find one of them and be done. No awkward feelings, no need to get her to sleep with Pulse, none of the uncomfortable nature of this moment would exist anymore. It'd just be a bad memory that Tyler would forget about a week from now.
"Like I said earlier Yuki, you don't have to go through with this if you don't want to." Tyler said reassuringly almost more to himself than his Glaceon. "We can just go south of the nearby forests towards Oreburgh and find ourselves a new partner there."
"But, then how does Wendy get anything out of this trade?" Yuki walked over towards Wendy and sat beside her.
"Well she wouldn't if we did that. I'm just saying that's an alternative to the plan."
"But then she wouldn't get an Eevee." Tyler raised an eyebrow suspiciously. "Wouldn't that make her sad?"
"Uh… probably." Tyler rubbed the back of his head. "But I'm sure she'd get over it soon enough. To be honest, I don't think any of us really thought this plan would work out like we wanted it to."
"But I don't want her to be sad. Wendy should be happy too!" Yuki put her paw down in front of her to accent her point, which only made Tyler more surprised. "Wendy has made both of us really happy together. We've played together, we've laughed together and we've even done… that happy tingly thing together too. She makes me happy and I want her to be happy too. So if it would make her happy to have an Eevee and I can give her one, then I'll do it."
"Are you absolutely sure." Tyler said both aloud and through the connection. Wendy's expression quickly changed and she stopped blissfully scratching Yuki's ears and looked down at her in shock. "I've already told you that you don't have to go through with this. You have the option to say no."
"Master. I want to do this." Yuki insisted to Tyler's growing disbelief. "I love both you and Wendy and I want you to be happy. I want all of us to be happy together. And if it will make Wendy happy to have an Eevee and I can give her one, then I'll do it for her."
"You do realize what that means right?" Wendy raised her hands to cover her mouth. "That means you might need to mate with him multiple times until we're successful. And that means you'll be a mommy and that you'd need to look after this Eevee once it hatches. Of course we'd be willing to help you, but it would be your responsibility to look after him or her as much as it is Wendy's."
"Yes, I understand." Yuki nodded as she nuzzled Wendy's leg. "I appreciate your concern for me master, but I want to do this." Tyler softly smiled at his two girls. He couldn't believe the warm and gentle nature of Yuki's heart. She just wanted everyone to be happy together and this was a way for that to happen. He felt so stupid at thinking that she wouldn't act like this. She'd always wanted his happiness and his love to come first over anything. She'd proove that on the ship, she'd proven that in the cave, and now Yuki was proving that fact once again.
"Well there you have it Wendy." Tyler finally said after a moment. "She said yes."
"Oh my God, Yuki I love you!" In the blink of an eye Wendy scooped Yuki off the floor, hugged her tightly to her chest and laid a lengthy kiss on her forehead. "You've just made me the happiest girl in the world! You're the best Glaceon ever!"
"She wanted you to be happy Wendy." Tyler smiled as Wendy held Yuki up to the ceiling, continuing to shower her in praise. "That's the only reason she said yes."
"To be honest I didn't think she'd agree to this." Wendy admitted, pulling Yuki back into another hug and getting licked on the cheek for her effort. "But I'm so so so so so SO happy you said yes! You'll be the cutest mommy ever. Oh, I can already see the little Eevee sleeping on your back as you carry him around. Too cute!"
"I suppose if the matter is settled now, we should probably get about setting this plan into motion." Tyler said as he grabbed a map from his backpack pocket. "How far away is Solaceon Town from here anyway?"
"Oh, it's right across Mt. Coronet from us." Wendy said drawing a line from Eterna City to Solaceon with her finger. "Now if we wanted to get there as fast as possible, we'd just take the train from Eterna back to that station we were at last week. But I looked at their website and saw that the Celestic pass to Celestic Town is still down. Apparently the avalanche did a number on one of the bridges and it's not safe enough to ride on yet."
"Well that sucks." Tyler frowned, looking back at the map again. "But it looks like we can go south of here and loop through these cities to get there right?"
"Yup. Directly south of us is Oreburgh City as you might recall. And then this one to the East is Hearthome City, which is where I live. I own a little two bedroom apartment on the East side of the City by Amity Square that we can crash at while we're in the area because Solaceon Town is close enough that we can commute in the day with your hover-moped-thingy."
"How long will it take us to get to Hearthome?" Tyler asked.
"About a day's travel. We can stop at Oreburgh for lunch if you want since it's on the way. But if we left at about 9:00 tomorrow morning, we'd get to Hearthome by sunset."
"Cool… definitely cool. Alright, let's do this. Deal?" Tyler held his hand out to Wendy as they'd never officially sealed their "trade" with a handshake yet. Wendy's excitement bubbled out of her in a giggle as she grabbed Tyler's hand and shook it firmly.
"Deal! Now I dunno about you, but all this planning has made me a bit sleepy. Should we call it a night?"
"Yeah, let's get some rest." Tyler agreed as the two of them found their way back to the bed. Yuki hopped onto the bed as well, finding a spot in the middle between them as Tyler and Wendy pulled the blankets over the three of them.
"Good night master." Yuki's voice played in Tyler's head once again just as Tyler got himself comfortable.
"Yuki, I thought I told you that you calling me Master makes me uncomfortable." Tyler playfully scolded Yuki as he nuzzled her cheek.
"But you call me princess. How come I can't call you something special?"
"Well you can do that, but does it have to be master?"
"Well... I don't know what else to call you." Yuki's voice sounded slightly upset.
"How about prince then?" Tyler laughed. "Prince is the male equivalent to a princess, and the two often fall in love with each other in fairy tales like the one we used to read. And since we love each other and you're my princess, it's only fitting that I became your prince."
"That's perfect!" Yuki placed her paw on Tyler's cheek and Tyler felt his heart skip a beat. "You're my prince now!"
"Well princesses should get their beauty sleep."
"Okay, okay. Good night my prince." Yuki's voice trailed off as she fell asleep.
"Good night my princess." Tyler cooed as he stroked Yuki's fur for a moment before he too joined her in sleep.
A/N: There you go guys, that *cough* shit! ... that makes 27 chapters in the books. I hope you didn't catch this bug I got while you were reading.
Pulse: I highly doubt they caught whatever virus is harming you.
DrPhill26: *sniffle* But it transmits via the air *cough* I know that because half my co-workers caught it last week *cough* and now I got it and coughed all over the words the reader just read.
Pulse: I severely doubt that the readers have caught your cold from reading this chapter.
DrPhill26: Well what makes you so certain of that Mr. Smart guy. I'm an actual doctor! I know what I'm talk- *cough* GOD DAMMIT! ... I know what I'm talking about.
Pulse: A delusional one at that...
DrPhill26: What'd you say?
Pulse: The reader is more than likely hundreds, if not thousands of miles away from you right now. No airborne virus can transmit that far in as long as it took for the reader to finish this chapter.
DrPhill26: Yeah but-
Pulse: Furthermore, they were reading the words you coughed on through their laptop or tablet or computer monitor, not the one you've been coughing and sneezing over. That is not how virus transmission works.
DrPhill26: Yeah it is. It's called a computer-
Pulse: You cannot give a computer a virus by coughing on it. That is physically impossible. That is a different type of virus entirely! Now go drink your tea and get some rest.
DrPhill26: ... *cough* I knew that. Fuck it, you're right Pulse. I'm going to bed. This is DrPhill26 signing out and *cough* son of a bitch... signing out and I hope I'll see you next time when I'm not actually sick.
