6 Months after JSDF assault on NERV Headquarters

"The damage to Tokyo-3 has largely been repaired according to the authorities.

In other news, the Prime Minister has submitted his resignation after as NERV has been cleared of all charges regarding initiating Third Impact and search for members of secretive organization called SEELE continues who allegedly provided to the Government leading to the attack.

Although NERV commander Gendo Ikari is still under investigation for..."

The radio in Misato's car turned off as she exited her vehicle clearly looking exhausted.

It was time for afternoon rush-hour but the streets were calm with moderate number of people.

She had to buy groceries but was utterly exhausted after what had happened over the past few months.

She had seen off Shinji in the elevator carrying him to Unit-01.

Memories after that were hazy except that there was a flash of light which felt comforting,as strange as it sounded.

She woke up and found herself lying at the same spot next to the elevator and feeling disoriented and confused about what she had been doing.

It took some to realise the massive battle that took place and thankfully JSDF had called off their attack.

She got interrogated and had to testify for months regarding what had happened and sole responsibility for trying to carry out Third impact fell on the NERV commander.

Now the only question on her mind was what had happened to Shinji?

The Eva-01 was found on the shores of the lake, immobile and incapable of use.

Asuka miraculously was also found lying beside it, unconscious but still alive although her Unit-02 had been torn to pieces.

But the poor was traumatized by her ordeal and was left for Germany with Misato unable to meet her due to being under arrest.

All this time had passed but he was nowhere to be found.

The core of Unit-01 was also missing which raised suspicion.

Did Shinji had something to do with whatever transpired that terrible day?

If he somehow made the fighting stop and people come to their senses then they...she owed her to him. But where was he?

They told her to be patient and were doing everything they could to find him.

"I'm tired of waiting dammit! Where are you,Shinji-kun?!"

Misato could not keep her frustration within her any longer and while holding her grocery bag on her way back to her car,she didn't notice the person in front of her and bumped into him.

"Ah!I'm sorry!Here,let me help you"

He said as he helped Misato pick up her groceries which fell on the ground.

"It's alright. I'm sorry I..."

When she looked up and made eye contact with him she froze.

Those blue eyes...no his face. It was just like

"Shinji-kun?!"

A minute later Misato had calmed down and both were sitting in an open-air café.

The man seemed to be in his early twenties, had blue eyes and short black hair and wore a white shirt.

He had a striking resemblance to Shinji except for his facial expression which seemed very unfamiliar to her.

He had a wide, gentle smile on his face. Nothing like what Shinji ever had.

To be continued...
