Damien silently stared out at the sea crashing against the cliffs, as a light breeze blew through his hair. He often came up here when he needed to be alone, and he gripped his left arm tightly, wincing a little. He had lost a spar to Cliff, he'd gotten distracted and left himself open, letting the other man get in and hit him. "Idiot." He whispered, taking his uniform jacket off, examining the cut on his arm, hissing as he touched it.

He pulled a first aid kit off his Sky Cycle, opening it up and pulling the anti-bacterial ointment out, rubbing it on the wound before bandaging it up. As he put everything away, he smirked, "you know I come up here to be alone." He said, turning around to look dead at a Sky Guard soldier. "And you know mom misses you."

The soldier had almost the same features as Damien, except for having blonde hair. He put his helmet down on Damien's bike, grabbing the other man's arm. "What happened here?" He asked his younger brother, causing Damien to roll his eyes and yank his arm back. "Gavin, I don't need you to worry about me. I'm a Bird of Prey operative, a Power Ranger, and, honestly, more skilled than you are!" He shoved Gavin back, shouting.

Gavin gave his brother an incredulous look, before charging at him. Damien turned to one side, avoiding the charge, before he kicked Gavin's feet out from under him, the older man falling to his face in the dirt. He jumped up, swinging his fist at Damien, who caught it effortlessly. "Enough, Gavin." He said, letting the other man go and putting his jacket back on.

"Tell mom I said I'm alright, I'll visit if I get permission, and I miss her too." He threw Gavin's helmet to the ground before getting on and speeding off. He got back to the bunker, but hesitated before going in.

[Flashback]

A 15 year old Damien is walking through the city, muttering. He'd just had an argument with his older brother Gavin. Gavin was going into Sky Guard and wanted his younger brother to follow him now that Gavin was a soldier, but Damien had his sights set on higher goals. He wanted to be either a pilot or join the secretive organization Birds of Prey.

He didn't know how to join the Birds, much less where to find them, but he heard rumors they started accepting at 15, so he was in prime position to get in if he could figure it out. He was pulled out of his thoughts as a woman screamed, and he turned and bolted in the direction of the scream, stopping as he saw Yigrans attacking people.

As he took stock of the situation, he saw a downed soldier near him, with a mostly-full pulse rifle next to him. Damien darted over, grabbing it, and turning to face the Yigrans, blasting them repeatedly. As he continued to shoot at them-incredibly accurate despite having no training whatsoever with the pulse rifle-a man walked over to him. He placed a hand on his shoulder, "Damien Schuller?"

"Yeah, that's me." Damien said, stopping his shooting and letting the soldiers continue their fight. "Captain Richard Harrison, Birds of Prey." Damien almost dropped the rifle at hearing who the other man was. "I want you to join us." Harrison held his hand out, and Damien readily accepted. "Of course sir!"

[End flashback]

Damien entered the bunker, skipping checking in with the team and heading straight for Harrison's office. "Hey, Damien, you're back?" Cliff said, walking passed and spotting him, and Damien barely nodded at him. "Yeah."

As he entered the anteroom of the office, he knocked on the door, hearing Harrison call him in. "Oh, Mr Schuller, what can I do for you?" He asked, watching the younger man intensely.

"Requesting the day off to go visit family, sir." Damien said, it was not a typical request, and would delay his response to any attacks, but family was something that meant a lot to him. "What brought this up, suddenly, Damien." Harrison said, dropping the formal mood in the room.

"My head's not in it right now, sir. My brother came up to my silent spot and interrupted me, I let Cliff get a cheap shot at me in training, and my accuracy at the last training session was 90%. I need to head home to clear my head, it'll just be a couple days." Damien hated to admit it, but he was the kind of person to dwell on things, and sometimes only his family could help him stop dwelling and could clear his head.

"Permission granted. I'll have you paged if we need you, so keep your morpher available." Harrison said, as Damien nodded, "thank you sir."

A few hours later, Damien rode up to a small house outside the city, where a couple Saint Bernard puppies were playing. He parked his Sky Cycle behind one of the cars in the driveway, getting off and looking at the house. He'd grown up there, but that felt like lifetimes ago, as he's done so much since he was last here.

He went up to the door and knocked once before entering, a habit he picked up from the Birds of Prey. "Damien, you're home!" His mother said, running over to hug her youngest, taking him in a bone-crushing hug. "Yes, mom, I'm home." He said, freeing himself from the hug, as his mom looked him over, "I'm so proud of you, reaching for your dreams and succeeding. Your father would be really proud."

Damien felt his jaw clench, if only she knew. Though it was good she didn't, she'd be devastated.

[Flashback]

Damien moved quickly at a half-crouch, before pointing his blaster down a side hall as Cliff moved passed him to point his straight ahead. Damien looked down at a tracking device strapped to his wrist. "This way." He whispered, moving down the side hall, knowing without a doubt that Cliff was behind him. They reached a door, and pressed themselves up against the wall on either side, Damien giving a few hand signs before he kicked the door open.

There on the other side was a man with red hair, standing over a gruesome scene of dissected people, some hanging from hooks by the walls, blood everywhere, and the smell of blood and death would've overwhelmed most people. "Don't move." Damien said seriously, moving in on the man, who turned around chuckling.

Cliff managed to hold back a gasp, the man was almost a splitting image of Damien, except for the hair color. "Now son, you don't have to do this." Cliff was shocked at what Damien did next, the younger man grabbed his father's arm, twisting it behind him. "I'm a Bird of Prey operative, I follow orders of my superiors before I'd follow them from you."

[End flashback]

"Yeah he would, wouldn't he?" Damien said, smiling a little. "So what's been up with you, mom?"

Cliff kicked at the table with the toe of his boot, Damien was his chess partner, so he wasn't able to play after training today, and he couldn't believe it. "He took time off, I didn't even know we could

time off!" Heath rolled his eyes, "calm down, Captain Harrison said he'd page him if there was an attack, and you know Damien, he wouldn't leave us hanging."

Almost as soon as he was done talking, the alarms went off, all 4 rangers running to the lab. "Downtown, in the market district. I'm detecting 50 Yigrans, and a monster." A guy told them, as they crossed the lab to enter the launch bay, jumping onto their Sky Cycles. "Coordinates have been uploaded, Sky Cycles launch in 3. 2. 1. Launch!"

"I hate to cut our talk short, mom, but there's trouble in the city, I'll be back." Damien said quickly, jumping up and running outside to his Sky Cycle, "Blue Owl enroute!"

"Birds of Prey! Take off!" The rangers shouted as the four arrived on scene, jumping into the fight directly. They summoned their weapons and began fighting, Heath being in charge of cover fire. "We really need Damien!" He said, as they heard an engine revving, Damien jumping into the fray from behind them on his Sky Cycle, blasting several Yigrans. "Birds of Prey! Take off! Blue Owl!" He summoned his blaster, blasting some Yigrans off Cliff's back. "Sorry I'm late!"

"You're here now, let's focus!" They went back to fighting, Cliff and Damien switching it up with Damien fighting the monster. "End of the line!"

Gavin approaches the place he saw the monsters coming from, causing a couple generals to appear. "Who are you, more importantly, how'd you get here?" One asked him, beginning to circle him. Gavin reached in his pocket, pulling out a photograph of all the rangers morphed. "Give me your power, and I'll destroy your enemies for you."

"Ha! You? What makes you think you can handle

power?" A female general, looking like an angry mask attached to a body. "I am stronger than I look, I can easily destroy the rang-Hey!" Gavin spun around, grabbing the hand of a Yigran who grabbed his Sky Guard ID out of his pocket. "Sky Guard?!" The third general-a monstrous warrior-said, pulling his blade and putting it to Gavin's throat. "Is this a trap?"

Gavin waved his hands in the negative. "No, I'm quitting Sky Guard, I just didn't want to before I found out if you guys accepted my offer." "Melacus, Orni, let's discuss." The female said, all three generals gathering in a group a few feet away.

"I have the armor from an ancient warrior I could give him, Madam Zakell. It would make him formidable and capable of taking on the Power Rangers." Melacus said, and Zakell nodded, looking at Orni. "This is up to the two of you. Train him before you set him on the Rangers, I don't want them to destroy them too quickly."

"Yes Madam" both male generals said, bowing, before the group turned to Gavin. "Alright, we accept, Melacus will give you power, and him and Orni will train you on how to use it."

Damien growled, shooting at the monster. "Go down already!" He switched to his Sky Saber, slashing at the monster. "Combine! Sky Guard Owl Blaster!" He said, slotting the sword into the top of his blaster, giving a few more blasts, causing the monster to retreat.

"Power down." Damien said, before turning to head to his Sky Cycle. As he goes passed Cliff, he finds his arm grabbed, but he doesn't pull away. "You did good, Schuller." He said, "but next time, focus. You were as off as you were during training." Cliff let go of his arm, pushing him towards the motorcycle.

Damien climbed on and sped off, his mind elsewhere. He kept thinking about the team, and how he was getting behind on his training. He pulled up to his mom's house, and noticed her car was gone. As he fished his keys from his pocket while walking up to the door, he noticed the note on the door. He pulled it off, glancing at it. His mother had left to go visit her friend Viola, who's husband was injured in the recent attack.

He crumpled the note angrily, if he had been on the top of his game Viola's husband wouldn't have been injured. If he had been on the top of his game he would've destroyed the monster the first time. He unlocked the door and entered his childhood home, and immediately climbed the stairs. He entered his old room, which was exactly as he left it.

[Flashback]

A 15 year old Damien looks around his room, a backpack sitting on his bed that was half full with various things, when his mom walked in. "Damien, here." She handed him a small box, which he opened, revealing a silver bracelet inside. "Your special bracelet?" He asked.

The bracelet had been in the family for generations, passed down to each female, but Damien's family didn't have any girls. "Yes, its a family heirloom, and I want you to wear it whenever you get the chance, so you remember me."

[End flashback]

Damien sat on his bed, pushing the edge of his sleeve up to reveal the bracelet. He put it on the day he graduated the academy and never took it off, and it was his good luck charm. He had a lot of good times with his family before his father snapped when he was 10. The elder Schuller had stormed out of the house without so much a goodbye to either of his children or the love of his life. He just vanished for almost 10 years before the Birds of Prey took him and his illegal organ harvesting business down.

Damien shuddered, it was one of the hardest things he did, taking down his own father, but he is an operative, and couldn't afford to be lax on taking anyone down-it didn't matter who it was.

"Schuller, we need you back, monster's attacking again." Cliff's voice came from his morpher, and Damien held it up to his mouth. "10-4. I'm on the way." He said, running out of the house and jumping on his Sky Cycle, speeding towards the scene.

"Eagle Blade!" Cliff shouted, summoning his sword. He charged at the monster, slashing repeatedly. As he was attacked, several blasts hit the monster, as a morphed Blue Owl stood at a distance. "Take the Yigrans, I'll handle the monster."

Damien charged forward, with a battle cry. "Sky Guard Owl Blaster!" He said, combining the Sky Saber and Owl Blaster. He inserted his bird emblem into the blaster, and Cliff threw him his. "Use this in the saber! Do a dual strike!"

"Right!" Damien said, spinning around and catching the red bird emblem. "Bird emblem! Set!" He set the red one into the Sky Saber, and the blade glowed red. The end of the Owl Blaster glowed blue, and both shot out birds that combined into one giant purple energy bird.

As it hit, the bird also flew around and took out all the Yigrans, everything exploding. "Captain, Zords please!" Damien said into his morpher, the team leaping up as the zords arrived.

"Attack pattern Sigma!" Damien said, entering in a command to send the plans to the team. "Belay that order." Cliff said, taking over the command, "Schuller, who's red here?"

"Sorry, Reyes, I've just been on a roll." Cliff nodded, understanding what his friend needed, "carry on then."

The Zords flew in circles at different levels, forming energy rings that immobilized the monster, allowing them to form the Megazord. "Sky Guard Megazord! Online!" As they logged in, Damien entered a command into his console. "Sky Strike!" The Megazord punched with the Owl and Condor at the same time, causing the monster to fall back. As it got up, its eyes flashed, and it created multiple duplicates.

"Ah! Which one is the real one?!" Damien asked, as the megazord turned around to look around repeatedly. "This is impossible! How can we beat a monster that we can't figure out the real one?!" Heath asked, looking around incredulously. "Focus, guys. Remember, look beyond the outward appearance!" Cliff said, flipping a switch above his head, which activated the Eagle Eye.

The rangers saw the real monster with a white outline trying to circle around behind them. "Sky blade!" They called out, summoning the sword, and doing a spin to slash through all the duplicates and hit the real monster. "How'd you see through it?!" The monster asked, backing up quickly.

"Simple! The Eagle Eye gives us an in depth sight of the battle, allowing us to see through an illusion like yours!" Cliff said, inserting Damien's bird emblem into the slot. "Sky Blade! Owl Slash!"

The Megazord delivered a slash, that was a glowing blue, which destroyed the monster easily. The rangers jumped down out of the megazord as the zords split up and returned to the bunker. "I'll be back, I just need to make sure my mom's okay." Damien said, before running off.

He arrived at the hospital with a card and some flowers, and entered. "I'm here to see Mark Lynch." The told the receptionist, who pointed him towards a room. As he entered he saw his mom and her friend Viola, and Mark was awake.

Damien approached the group, offering the flowers to Viola. "We did it, the monster that hurt Mark is destroyed." He said, offering the card to the elderly man. "My team and I all hope you get better soon. If you need anything, call me."
