THE OTHER WOMAN
DISCLAIMER: STEPHENIE MEYER OWNS IT ALL.
February 20, 2016
EDWARD
My eyes snap open and everything seems blurry. I blink a couple of times and come face to face with a pillow. I frown and close my eyes again. My head is pounding, my mouth feels dry and I am incredibly tired. What the hell is wrong with my body?
Last night's events come crashing down on me. We went to dinner and then to a strip club. Everybody got shit-faced and I don't remember anything after seeing Jasper pass out. Wait. Where am I?
I carefully sit up and groan softly. I am beat right now. I sigh with relief when I realize I'm in my hotel room. How did I get here? Anyway. I shake out of my reverie and run a hand through my hair.
"Bella?" I call out and hear no response. She is not here.
I gaze out of the window and its dark outside. What time is it? I check my phone and my eyes widen in shock when I see the time. It's four forty-seven in the afternoon. Fuck. I slept all day! All fuckin day!
I had two conference meetings this morning. How could I let this happen? Mr. Mitchell and I were supposed to discuss my visit to Scotland early this morning. I told him I was going to work during the night. Fuck! This is why I wasn't planning on drinking. Every time I get hammered, I sleep all day long the following day. This is bad.
My eyes race all around the room and I spot a note and an Advil on the other nightstand. I lean over and grab the piece of paper.
Hey, honey. Hope you are feeling well. It's eleven in the morning. I'm going out for lunch and then getting ready in Alice's room. Please be at the event room by five. Don't be late. I love you.
Bella
I bury my face in my hands and sigh. Fuck, I'm screwed.
I check my phone and find several missed calls and messages. As I'm checking my emails, my phone buzzes with Alice's name flashing on the screen. I roll my eyes and brace myself before answering her call.
"Where the hell are you?!" Alice yells and I feel my eardrums tearing apart. Ouch.
"I'm on my way." I mutter and get off the bed.
"I have no clue what you boys did last night, but it's getting on everybody's nerves! None of you are here yet! Jake is the only one here on time."
"That's because Jacob wasn't forced to get wasted last night." I whisper under my breath.
"I don't care about the others! They can come whenever they want, but you are the fucking groom! Bella shouldn't be standing here along with mom to welcome the guests! Get your ass here right now!"
Fuck. Now I feel really bad. My Bella is doing everything on her own. She must be pissed at me. I need to go to the event room quickly.
"Alice, I'll be there in ten minutes." I say and sigh softly.
"Good." She hangs up and I toss the phone on the other end of the bed.
I rush to the bathroom and brush my teeth. I shave and shower and wrap a towel around my waist. I towel dry my hair and walk towards the living area. I find my suit neatly laid out on the sofa and feel grateful for Bella. She takes care of everything.
I carry the suit to the bedroom and put on a pair of boxers. I put on my shirt and tuck it under a pair of charcoal grey trousers. I grab the grey wool tie and slide a tie clip on it. I don the matching jacket and button it. I fold the pocket square and tug it under the breast pocket. I put on socks and a pair of black shoes. I strap on the first watch I find, grab my phone and wallet and rush out of the room as fast as I can.
I freeze in the hallway when I realize something profound yet embarrassing. I don't know where the rehearsal dinner is. Fucking hell! If I would've concentrated less on my merger and more on the wedding plan, I would've known this. I don't even have a copy of the invitation. I'm terrible at this.
I call Alice but she doesn't answer my call. I try Bella's phone but it's switched off. I call Aunt Jane but her phone is busy. It's either a mere coincidence or universe is trying to test my patience. Demetri!
I search my call logs and place a call to him. He answers on the first ring.
"Mr. Cullen." He says in a clipped tone and I can hear chaos behind him.
"Demetri, where is the reception?" I ask and run a hand through my hair.
"It's in Building C. I can direct you once you reach here."
"Alright, thanks. I'll be right there."
I take the elevator to the ground floor. I walk past the reception area and make my way towards the neighboring building.
Demetri spots me when I approach the entrance and directs me to the event room. I sigh with relief when I recognize the people there. I find Bella and mom standing at the entrance, smiling and chatting with Aro and Renata. Fuck, they are going to kill me.
My breathing stops when I take a good look at my beautiful fiancée`. Her eyes are framed with thick lashes and her glossy lips are curled into a gorgeous smile. Her hair is flowing down her back in gentle waves and she is wearing a pair of drop earrings that I gave her not long ago. She is dressed in a floral print tie-neck shirt dress and wearing a pair of nude pumps that make her legs go for miles.
I stride in her direction and four pairs of eyes turn to me. Aro steps forward and we share a brief hug. I hug Renata and kiss her cheek.
"Hi, guys. Thanks for coming." I say softly and they grin.
"Of course we did. We won't miss it for the world." Aro winks at me and I chuckle.
"That means a lot."
"Alright, we'll see you kids later," Renata says and nods at Esme. "It's wonderful to meet you again, Esme."
Mom squeezes her hand. "You too. I'll be right with you. I need to have a word with Edward."
They nod and walk away from us. I gulp and turn to the ladies in front of me. Mom is glowering at me and her heated stare makes me shrink with fear. Bella isn't even looking at me. Mom steps closer and pulls hard on my ear. I groan in pain.
"Ow, mom! What the hell!" I hiss and she leaves her hold.
"Is this the time to come to your own wedding rehearsal, Edward Anthony?!" She snaps and I sigh.
"I'm so sorry, mom. I got in late last night, and it's a long story. I'm here now. I'm sorry."
"Well thanks for joining us," She says sarcastically and shakes her head. "I was supposed to help Jane with the gifts but instead I had to stand here with Bella to welcome everyone, which is your only job for the night."
"Sorry again. I'm here now. I won't leave this spot."
"Everyone is almost here. I'm going to leave now," She mutters and her expression softens as she turns to Bella. "Bella dear, tell me if you need anything. I'll ask one of the waiters to get you juice."
"Thanks." Bella whispers softly and mom gives me a pointed look before leaving.
I instantly turn my attention to Bella and take her soft hand in mine. "Bella love, I'm so sorry. Are you feeling okay? Did you suffer from morning sickness?"
"I'm not mad at you," She whispers and her brown eyes lock with mine. I stroke her cheek and see tears brimming in her eyes. "Can you please just hold me?"
My eyes soften. I envelope her in my arms and kiss her hair. She tightly hugs me and wraps her arms around my neck. She buries her face against the crook of my neck and breathes deeply.
"Baby, is everything OK?" I ask gently and feel her shoulders gradually relaxing.
"I'm fine now. I love you, Edward."
"I love you too. Please tell me what's bothering you."
She shakes her head. "Nothing important."
"If it's troubling you, it's important. Tell me."
"Can we talk about it later?"
"Okay. Whatever you want." I murmur and slowly rock her in my arms. When she is calm enough, she releases me.
I caress her face with my hands and lean my forehead against hers. "You look stunning, Bella. So beautiful. I can't believe we're finally getting married tomorrow."
She flushes and her eyes light up. She beams at me and gives me a chaste kiss. "I know. At this time tomorrow, we'll be husband and wife."
My heart almost bursts with joy thinking about tomorrow. I smile and kiss the top of her head. "I love the sound of that."
Bella giggles and I love to hear her laugh. She is loosening up a little. "You look like an eye-candy in that suit, Cullen. I'll have to put a ring on your finger soon so that everyone knows you're taken."
I laugh and give her an impish grin. "Oh baby, is that what you think? Studies show that women are more attracted to married men than the ones who are single."
She has a cute frown on her face. "Ugh, great."
"But don't worry, I only have eyes for you."
"You'd better," She warns playfully and grabs the lapels of my jacket to pull me closer. She connects our lips for a quick kiss and pulls back before I get a chance to deepen it. I pout and she pats my cheek. "Not now."
My eyes catch sight of Julie and Charlotte entering the room. I smile at them and stand next to Bella. I snake an arm around her waist and she nestles against me.
"Hey, guys. We're glad you could make it." Bella says and hugs them.
"We're glad we came," Julie gushes and smiles shyly at me. "Mr. Cullen."
I nod at them. "Welcome, Julie. Charlotte. Hope you have a good time tonight. We'll catch you with you later."
They walk away just as Kate and Garrett show up. Kate squeals as soon as her eyes fall on us and she pulls us for a tight hug. "Oh, I'm so happy for you guys! This place looks amazing! We're sorry we're late."
I pull back and shake my head. "It's alright, Kate."
Kate grins and grabs her boyfriend's hand in hers. "Guys, this is Garrett. Garrett, this is Bella and Edward."
Garrett smiles and shakes my hand. "It's nice to finally meet you both. Kate has told me a lot about you. Congratulations."
"Thank you very much." Bella offers a polite smile and I frown when I hear a squeal coming from somewhere.
Before I know it, Alice bounds towards Kate and gives her a fierce hug. "So glad you're here! And you must be Garrett!" She hugs him too.
Garrett seems taken aback but pats her back. Bella and I share a laugh and I shake my head. Oh, Alice. Bella, Alice and Kate animatedly talk about the wedding and I see Karen and Benji waiting in line, eagerly waving at us. Karen is glowing. She looks amazing.
I clear my throat and catch everyone's attention. "Kate, Alice… leave. We have other guests to attend to."
"Come on, ladies." Garrett leads them away and we welcome my best friends.
Bella and I enthusiastically welcome the rest of the guests that have come for our rehearsal dinner but Bella is getting tired. She drinks a glass of juice and refuses to eat anything. Once we know that all the guests have arrived, I lead Bella to an empty table and make her sit on a chair. She sighs loudly and takes off her heels.
I kneel in front of her and take her hands in both of mine. "Do you want to eat something, baby?"
She shakes her head. "I don't want to have appetizers. I'll have dinner when everybody does."
"Okay."
"My feet are killing me." She pouts and I stroke her feet.
"They look swollen. Don't worry; I'll massage them later, if you want."
"Thank you." She smiles and bends down to gives me a soft kiss.
"Are you ready to mingle with everyone?" I ask and she nods.
"Yes, let's get this over with."
"… this is completely unacceptable for you to come late for the rehearsal dinner. What if there…"
I smile at Alex, Emmett and Will as they get scolded by Aunt Jane for coming three hours late for the rehearsal dinner. They were more wasted than I was. I don't know how Jasper and Jacob got here on time. Alex and Emmett threw up after they woke up. I don't know what they were thinking last night.
I walk away from them and scan the room to search where Bella is. I spot her talking to Victoria, Karen and Benji. I can't believe everyone we know is in one room; all of Bella's friends and my friends and our family. I see Alice and Jasper chatting to Aro and Renata, Kate and Garrett are speaking to Senna, dad and mom are conversing with Julie and Charlotte. I'm glad they are here.
Pops is busy on his phone and eating appetizers. I walk over to him and take a seat by his side. I take the phone from his hands and he protests in return. I give him a look and put it away. He glares at me and crosses his arms over his chest.
"Pops, come on. Everyone is here. Why don't you interact with people?" I suggest as he eats his spicy tuna tartare.
"Sure." He grumbles and I smile at him.
"Thanks."
"I have a wedding present for Bella and you," He says and grins at me.
My eyes widen with surprise. "Really? You didn't have to, Pops."
"I wanted to. Since you're having a baby, it's also for my great-grandchild."
"Well, thank you very much. I'm sure Bella will be happily surprised too." I reply and hear the clicking of heels approaching us.
"What will I be surprised about?" I hear Bella ask and turn to find her standing behind me with a smile on her face.
"Pops has a wedding gift for us and our baby." I tell her and grab her hand in mine. I lead her in my direction and gently settle her on my lap.
Bella blushes and her smile turns shy. I kiss her cheek and wrap my arms around her.
"Thank you, Anthony. We really appreciate it."
Pops chuckles. "You haven't even heard what it is yet."
"We'll like it, anyway." I respond and feed Bella a piece of lobster toast with avocado. Thankfully, she eats it.
He clears his throat. "I want to give you my home in Hawaii."
Bella chokes and coughs loudly. I rub her back and a waiter approaches with a glass of water. I hold the rim of the glass to her lips and help her drink it. She takes a couple of sips and I put the glass away.
"You okay, darling?" I ask and she nods. I turn to Pops. "That's too much, Pops."
"I don't use it anymore. You can make it your vacation home. Your kids will love it."
I run a hand through my hair. "I know, but it also belongs to Alice and Emmett."
He sighs. "Edward, I have other houses for them. Don't worry. I love my grandchildren equally."
I smile and nod. "I know."
"But, you are the only one who always cared for your nana and I more than the others. You always have selfless affection for us. And that's why nana gave you her ring and that's why I'm giving you my favorite house."
My eyes soften. "Thanks, Pops."
"I'll give Alice and Emmett other properties."
I gaze at Bella and find her staring at Pops in a state of shock. I bet she finds it unusual for him to just give away his house like charity. I brush my hand against her arm and she snaps out of her reverie.
Pops snorts, staring at her face. "Don't worry, Bella. I own a lot of houses."
Bella chuckles and nods her head. She turns to me and leans closer. "You are a bit cocky like your grandfather."
I smile and peck her lips. "Hmm. You're going to love this house. It's one of the biggest houses on the island. It has a beachfront view, and it's marvelous. Our kids can run out of the house and straight to the beach."
She blushes and kisses my cheek. "That's sounds good."
"I know."
"You want more than one kid?" She asks and I scoff at her question.
"Bella, I want a bunch of babies with you; maybe five or six."
She gasps and shakes her head. "Not happening, Cullen. I want two kids."
I pout. "Just two? Can we at least have three?"
"Let's see how things go with this one." She negotiates and I nod. Fine.
We speak to Pops for a while and Emmett comes over to sit with him. Bella and I talk to other guests and try to spend more time with mom and dad. Tomorrow is going to be a whirlwind and I wonder if we'll get enough time to spend with them.
Alice, mom and Aunt Jane have done an amazing job at ensuring this place looks spectacular. The crystal chandeliers are lit up beautifully, and round tables are arranged with cutlery and wine glasses. The centerpiece is the best part. I know Bella selected it. In lieu of a romantic theme for the dinner; Italian ruscus, willow eucalyptus and touches of seeded eucalyptus are paired with various hues of gold and champagne mercury glass candles to keep things intimate. It looks magical.
Alice announces that dinner will be served and we settle into our seats. Conversations easily flow across the tables and there is light chatter in the room. Bella thankfully inhales her food and eagerly finishes her appetizers. She also eats her first course and finishes half of mine.
When the salad course arrives, she makes a face and pushes the plate in my direction. She sips on her sparkling cider and snuggles against me. Her face lights up when the entree is served. It's Grilled Australian Sea Bass Fillet with mint and green pea risotto, and is delicious. She moans when she takes a bite and blushes furiously when all eyes turn to her. I chuckle and shake my head. She's adorable.
Mom puts her hand on my arm and I gaze at her. She leans closer and clears her throat.
"Edward, make sure to thank everyone at the end." Mom reminds me and I nod.
"Yes, ma'am."
I turn my attention back to Bella who is drinking non-alcoholic red wine. I assigned a waiter for this weekend to serve her drinks. We haven't told everybody about Bella's pregnancy so we need to keep up the charade. Hopefully, nobody will find out. The drink looks like red wine. And the sparkling cider looks like champagne.
"I'm full." Bella whispers and puts her head on my shoulder. I wrap my arms around her and kiss her hand.
"Do you have room for dessert?"
"Of course," She mutters making me laugh. "What's for dessert?"
"Among my handful of contributions to the wedding planning, choosing desserts for tonight was one of them. Today we are serving two desserts; chocolate mousse cake with raspberries and lemon meringue pie with pine nut ice-cream.
She grins and pecks my lips. "That sounds delicious."
"I know."
Dessert is served and Bella finishes her cake in three bites. I laugh and shake my head. Wow, she loves chocolate. I feed her a spoonful of my lemon pie and ice-cream and she smiles at me.
"It's good." She mumbles and I kiss the top of her head.
"You want to finish mine, love?" I ask and she flushes.
"No, I'm eating more than I should."
I stroke her cheek. "You're eating more for a reason."
I feed her the rest of my dessert and she quietly eats it. We remain in our bubble and make conversation with the people seated at our table.
When everyone finishes dessert, dad stands up and taps his knife to the glass as to get everyone's attention. Bella smiles curiously and I interlace our hands. I gaze at dad and I know he is going to make a speech. He made a speech at Emmett's rehearsal dinner too.
Dad scans the room before speaking up. "First Esme and I would like to welcome everyone and thank you for being here as we kick off the celebration for Edward and Bella's wedding. I'm a bit anxious about this speech and also emotional, so if I get choked up, please feel free to do the same."
Everyone laughs and Bella smiles as she puts her head on my shoulder. I kiss her hair and turn my attention to dad again.
"Before I get too far, I would like to acknowledge Jacob, Bella's brother," He points towards Jacob-who grins shyly. Alex whoops and everyone claps. "He put in a lot of effort and time to help everyone plan tomorrow's big day. All for you two," He says and gazes at us. I smile at him. "And we don't think of you as Edward's future brother-in-law, we think of you as family. We are looking forward to our vacations together."
Bella chuckles and I squeeze her hand softly. "I hope we are on the same page for the vacations, Jacob. We love vacations. I also want to acknowledge all of Edward and Bella's friends for joining us; you truly made this event more special."
There is a light applause in the room and I can hear Benji cheering in the back. I turn and laugh, staring at his gleeful expression.
"Now back to Edward and Bella. Edward," Dad says and I meet his gaze. "Esme and I are so proud to be your parents. We've watched you grow up into an amazing young man, you've taken great responsibilities at such a young age and we're in awe of how much you've evolved as a person. You have strong values and compassion and our pride will echo when you Marry Bella tomorrow." His voice breaks a little and I sigh softly. Oh, dad.
"Esme and I are so grateful that you were fortunate enough to meet Bella and fall unconditionally in love with her. As you get married tomorrow, everyone in the room can agree that you have truly have found the 'one'. Bella, we are looking forward to officially calling you our daughter."
I gaze at Bella and see tears glistening in her eyes. She gazes at me and I kiss her forehead. We switch our attention to dad again.
"Edward and Bella are one of those couples that were meant to be together. They are a perfect match," Bella blushes brightly and we share a smile. "They are both very caring and generous individuals and family is important to them. I finally get to give you some advice about married life."
Dad clears his throat. "You'll have disagreements, never stop communicating and listening. If you're wrong, don't be afraid to admit it. And if you're right, keep it to yourself."
I laugh and Bella shakes her head. I can hear others chuckling and I find mom staring at us with a teary smile.
"I know you both have hectic work schedules, but make time for each other. Take advantage of the time you have and never take it for granted. Marriage is about finding your soulmate but even so, it takes a lot of hard-work to make it work. I heard somewhere that getting married is like falling in love over and over with the same person. If you pursue your marriage with love, understanding and commitment, you'll be on a journey to have a wonderful marriage. Esme and I love you very much." He says and gazes at us with a soft smile.
Bella sniffles next to me and I wipe away her tears but more follow. I can see Aunt Jane crying and even Alice is dabbing her eyes with a napkin.
"Without further ado," Dad raises his glass and we follow suit. "Here's a toast to the bride and groom. Let's drink to love. When love reigns, the impossible may be attained. Cheers."
We clink our glasses and I drink my wine. I can hear everyone gushing about the speech and everyone praises dad for taking the effort to say a few words. Bella and I make our way to my parents and hug them. Mom is still crying which makes me laugh. I kiss the side of her head and release her.
"Stop crying, mom. You're missing out on the event." I say and she smiles and slaps my arm. She hugs Bella too and we thank them for the toast.
We return to our seats and Will makes a sweet toast, telling the events of how he met Bella and how she never knew he was my cousin. Angela follows after him and lastly, Aunt Jane gives a heartfelt speech which leaves Bella in tears again.
Lastly, I thank everyone for being present for the rehearsal dinner and give a shout out to mom, Aunt Jane and Alice for planning and executing everything on such short notice.
Bella yawns against my chest and cuddles closer to me. I kiss her forehead and tighten my arms around her. We changed into comfortable clothes and decided to stay in bed. It's been ten minutes and none of our family members have disturbed us yet.
Bella seems oddly quiet and I know it's not just because she is tired. She was upset at the start of the rehearsal dinner. I want to know what is bothering her. I don't want her to wake up tomorrow morning with the same disturbing thoughts.
Wait a minute. Does she not want to get married? Does she think it's too soon? Is she worried about it? I need to talk to her.
"Bella?" I say and her brown eyes lock with mine.
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"Why were you sad early on during the rehearsal dinner?"
Her smile disappears. She sits up in my arms and sighs. "It's nothing."
"Are you having second thoughts? Do you think it's too soon? We can-" She puts her hand over my mouth and I stop talking. She pointedly gazes at me and leans closer.
"That's the most ridiculous thing you've ever said. Nothing in this world would make me happier than marrying you tomorrow." Bella whispers earnestly and I sigh with relief. She lowers her hand and I smile.
"Okay. Then what was it?"
She casts her eyes away and plays with the hem of my t-shirt. "I miss my mom. I wish she was here."
My heart constricts. "I'm sorry, baby."
"She won't be there to watch us get married or have our baby. I don't have my parents to be part of the most special day of my life. I see you with Carlisle and Esme… and it breaks my heart. I wish I was lucky enough to have parents." She looks up and a tear trickles down her cheek.
"Hey," I whisper and wipe away the tear. I pull her astride my lap and she hides her face against my neck. I feel her hot tears rolling down my neck. "Don't cry, baby. Please. I can't stand to see you cry. You have us, love. Jacob is here to support you. Mom and dad love you like their own daughter, and you have me. I'm always here for you. Always."
Bella nods and wraps her arms around my neck. I gently rock her and kiss her shoulder. When she is calm enough, she pulls back to look at me. I kiss away her tears and touch my forehead to hers.
"Even though your mom is not going to physically be there with us, I bet she is looking down at us. And she's happy for you." I say tenderly and she blinks back her tears. She nods and holds my face in her hands.
"I love you, Edward."
"I love you too, baby. So much."
I press my lips against her soft ones and she eagerly kisses me back. I feel her harsh breathing on my skin and I deepen our kiss. Bella shifts closer and whimpers when I tug on her bottom lip. I can feel her heart thundering in her chest and her body trembles when I trail my hands inside her t-shirt. I can kiss her forever.
We break apart startled when we hear the door bust open. I look towards the doorway and Alice marches inside the room with her hands on her hips.
"What the hell? Why did you guys sneak out?!" She yells and I glare at her.
"I'm not going to apologize for wanting to spend time with Bella. What do you want?" I snap and she groans.
"I'm here to get Bella. You'll see her at your wedding tomorrow."
"What?" I frown and Bella hugs me tighter than before. I kiss the top of her head and sigh.
"The groom can't see the bride before the wedding." She explains and I roll my eyes.
"I can't see Bella in her wedding dress, that's all."
"No! I'm here to get Bella."
I growl softly and I'm ready to shout at my sister but, Bella makes me look at her. I look into her loving brown eyes and she smiles softly.
"Don't fight, please," She whispers and pecks my lips. "It's just a matter of one night."
I pout and she kisses me again. "Bella, no."
She giggles and strokes my cheek. "Don't be a baby, Cullen."
"Fine!" I sigh dejectedly and glance at Alice. "Give me ten minutes with Bella."
"You have five minutes." She says haughtily and walks out of the room.
As soon as Alice is out of an earshot, I kiss Bella. I kiss her with all the passion I can muster. She lets out a low moan when I slide my tongue inside her mouth. She runs her hands through my hair and whimpers when I graze my teeth against her bottom lip.
We make out until we run out of breath and I drag my lips towards her slender neck. I can hear her soft pants and she sighs.
"Edward…" She breathes out and I press my lips against hers. "Wait."
"Not now," I whisper and pepper her face with soft kisses.
"I have to give you something."
I sigh. "I have three minutes left with you. I intend to use them to the fullest."
She chuckles and connects our lips again. I smile and return her kiss. We continue making out until there is a knock on the door. I take a deep breath and turn to see Alice standing in the doorway with Victoria at her side-who is holding a sleepy Jared in her arms.
"Time to go, Bella." Alice says with a smile and Bella looks at me.
"There is something in your nightstand drawer. I think you'll like it," She says softly and a smile plays on her lips. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mr. Cullen."
"I'll meet you at the altar, Ms. Swan."
"Good night, baby. Get some sleep. Don't work till late." She gives me a chaste kiss and I nod.
"Noted, ma'am. Call me if you need anything."
She smiles and kisses me. "I will."
Bella gets off my lap and makes her way to the walk-in closet. Alice follows her and I look at Victoria. I wonder what she is doing here. The closet door shuts with a bang and Jared opens his eyes. He rubs his left eye and his eyes fall on me.
"Edward." He croaks out and yawns.
"Hey, buddy. What are you doing here?" I ask and he squirms in her arms. She sets him down, and he comes running to me. He jumps on the bed and slams his little body against mine.
"No sleepy." Jared whispers and I chuckle.
"I can see that," I stroke his hair and gently rock him. I look at Victoria again. "Hey, what's up?"
"Mr. Zidek is on his way. There has been a slight mishap regarding the Dubai Project." She says and my smile disappears.
"What's wrong?" I ask and Jared pats my cheek. I tear my eyes off her and look at him.
"Edward, look! Iron man!" He points to his pajamas and I nod.
"They're very cool, little man. I wish I had those pajamas," I ruffle his hair and tune my attention to Vic. "Is it about Volturi?"
She sighs loudly. "Have patience and don't look so serious in front of Bella. She'll worry about you."
My frown disappears and I pull together my thoughts when Bella and Alice emerge from the closet, carrying a lot of items. Maybe it's for tomorrow. Bella curiously grins at Victoria and then walks towards me.
"Bella!" Jared waves at her and she kisses his cheek.
"Hey, handsome. You should be in bed!" She says, and he giggles.
"I big boy, Bella."
She laughs. "Well, big boys need sleep."
"Okay." He nods, and she gazes at me.
"Don't work for too long and please get some sleep. I love you." Bella whispers with a smile and gives me a soft kiss.
"I love you too, baby." I whisper back and kiss the back of her hand. She gives me a parting smile and walks out of the room along with Alice.
Zidek comes into my view and I get off the bed. Jared tugs on my t-shirt and I pick him up in my arms. He puts his head on my shoulder and yawns heartily. I notice Zidek holding few files in his hands.
"Zidek, what's going on?"
Zidek explains the major issues we're facing with the suppliers and how Mr. Omar doesn't want to get involved even though it's his fucking project. Bastard. Ugh, I wish I could work this out but given the time and circumstances, I'm helpless. Plus, I don't want to think about anything else but getting married to my Bella tomorrow evening.
"Thank you. I'll read the files and we'll discuss this later. I know this is an emergency but I'm getting married tomorrow. I would like to prioritize my wedding over this for now. Laurent is coming tomorrow, Zidek. I would like for you speak to him about this. If I start working on it, I'll work all night. I don't want that." I say calmly and they nod.
Victoria steps closer. "Of course, we understand. Tomorrow is very important. We just didn't want to keep anything from you. You would've been angry if we hadn't told you."
I offer her a small smile. "That's true. I appreciate your effort. So, I'll see you guys tomorrow. Good night."
"Good night, Mr. Cullen."
"Night, Edward," Victoria tries to take Jared from my arms and I watch Zidek leave the room. Jared lets out a cry and snuggles closer to me. I chuckle and stroke his hair. "Jared honey, let's go to our room. Aren't you sleepy?"
"Edward." He mumbles and I smirk at her.
"He likes me more," I say, and she rolls her eyes but smiles. "Does he wake up in the middle of the night?"
She shrugs. "No."
"Do you mind if he sleeps here then?" I ask and she chuckles.
"Sure, although he kicks in his sleep."
I laugh. "I think I'll be fine."
"Okay then," She walks closer and kisses his cheek. "Call me if he needs anything."
"I will."
Victoria bids me goodbye and walks out of the room. I carry Jared back to the bed and tuck him under the covers. He sighs in his sleep and snuggles his face against the pillow. I smile and stroke his hair. I walk over to my side of the bed and put the files on the nightstand. I sigh and run a hand through my hair. Just when I thought I could have a stress free honeymoon…
I shake my head and skim through the top most file. A few minutes later, Jared rolls onto his back and I realize he must not be comfortable sleeping with the lights on. I should go in the study. I grab the files and my phone. I get off the bed and I suddenly remember that Bella said something about a gift.
I curiously open the nightstand drawer and find a small gift-wrapped box comfortably perched inside. I smile and lift it in my hand. I switch off the lights and make my way to the study. I put the files on the desk and settle in the chair.
I unwrap the box and find a pair of platinum cufflinks inside. I smile when I see they are engraved. One of the cufflinks has our initials, B+E and the other one has our wedding date. It's perfect for tomorrow.
I check the time on my phone and it's almost midnight. My Bella must be getting ready for bed. I'll just leave her a text message. I send her a message and put the phone away. I reopen the file that I was previously reading and sigh. I won't stay up for too long. Just an hour or two.
God, I miss Bella.

BELLA
"Bella? Wake up," I hear Alice talking to me. I groan and roll away from her. I woke up twice to throw up last night. I'm tired. "Bella! It's already eight-thirty! We need to leave soon! We have to reach the venue by ten so that we can start with hair and make-up!"
"Five minutes." I mumble and sigh.
"You're getting married today, Isabella! Get up now! Do you want to be late for Edward?" She asks and my eyes flutter open.
I sit up in the bed and run a hand through my hair. My eyes widen in surprise when I see at least six women in the room. Emily and Angela are running around gathering things like headless chickens, two women are carrying suitcases out of the room and I see two other ladies quietly talking to each other and having breakfast.
What the hell is going on here?
"Bella!" Alice claps her hands and I turn to her. "You have forty minutes to shower and eat breakfast. It's right over there," She points to the table where breakfast is arranged. "I'll go check on Jasper and be back."
"Okay." I whisper and nod. She smiles and dances her way out of the room.
I close my eyes and breathe deeply. I'm getting married today. My face heats up and my heartbeat speeds up with anticipation. Edward and I will become husband and wife today. It feels like I've been waiting for this day forever.
After the obstacles in the start of our relationship, crazy exes trying to tear us apart and family issues… we finally made it through. This is the happiest I have ever been and things are only going to get better. I can't wait to start my future with him. And we will have a little person joining us in a few months.
I put my hand on my belly and smile to myself. That little person is making me run to the bathroom ten times a day and giving me weird mood swings, but I still love him very much. And his daddy loves him too.
A tear escapes my eye and I wipe it away. Damn hormones. I open my eyes and reach for my phone. I hope Edward opened the gift and liked it. I hope he wasn't working until late last night.
I grin when I see a message from Edward. I read it.
I love my cufflinks, baby. They are perfect. Very thoughtful of you and a nice surprise. I can't wait to shower you with surprises tomorrow. Can't wait. I love you. Good night. x
My stomach fills with butterflies reading his reply. He has surprises planned for me? For the first time, I am excited about it. I send him a reply.
You are welcome, Mr. Cullen. I can't wait for my surprises. xox
I put my phone away and smile.
Seven hours to go…
"Alice, what the hell is this?" I ask as I stare at the breakfast in front of me. There is nothing but oatmeal, toast and eggs on the table.
"That's breakfast! Now, hurry!"
I turn to her with my hands on my hips. "I'm not going to eat this. I want muffins."
She stops strapping her heels and looks at me in horror. "No! Absolutely not! You are not having anything sugary before the wedding. Eat anything you want at the reception. For now, follow my rules!"
I frown and cross my arms over my chest. I look at Emily and Angela, hoping they will stand up for me but they smile apologetically in my direction. Ugh, this is annoying! I take a small portion of scrambled eggs and toast. I sit on the chair and my phone buzzes in my jacket. I pull it out and find a new message from Edward. I eagerly open the text.
Good morning, beautiful. Hope you slept well. Did you have breakfast? x
I type a quick reply.
Your sister is making me eat eggs and toast. I want to have muffins :(
My phone buzzes few seconds later.
Oh baby, that sucks. Maybe I can arrange a way to get muffins over to you. xx
I giggle and respond to his message.
I'll wait for it. xox
"Bella, stop texting Edward and eat something. We need to leave soon." Angela says and I grumpily start eating.
Whatever.
I put on a silk robe over my bridal lingerie and tie it. I change my engagement ring to my right hand and grab hold of my clothes. I fold and carry them back to the room. We are in one of the Castle Rooms where I'll be getting ready for the wedding. The room is gorgeous and has a medieval look. The castle is more beautiful than I had seen in pictures. It's perfect.
Angela and Emily have two men helping them with their hair and make-up. Alice is giving instructions to Mathis and Stella about my look for today. They are the same people who helped me get ready for the Annual Dinner hosted by Edward's company. Esme and Jane are getting ready in the room next door and Senna decided to get dressed back at the hotel.
"Bella, take a seat! Let's get started with your hair!" Mathis exclaims excitedly and I attempt to smile back. I'm getting nervous as we get closer to the time of the wedding.
"Take a seat, Bella." Stella says kindly and I nod.
I take a seat in front of a free-standing mirror and notice a big suitcase of make-up and hair appliances next to me. I try to stay calm and close my eyes. There is a knock on the door and my eyes snap open to see who it is. It's the photographers. Great.
I can hear the photographers taking my photos as Mathis and Stella style my hair. It takes them around ninety minutes to perfect the hairstyle. My hair is in a messy braided updo with little tendrils are framing my face. My hair looks stunning. I smile at my reflection in the mirror and Mathis winks at me.
"Shall we start with Bella's make-up?" Stella asks and Alice rushes over to us.
I realize Alice is already done with her make-up. Her hair is in the usual pixie-cut and she looks amazing. Alice gasps looking at me.
"Bella, oh my god! Your hair looks fantastic!" She jumps excitedly and I laugh.
"Thank you, Alice."
Alice grabs her phone and turns to three of us. "Guys, can the make-up wait for a bit? There is somebody on the way."
I frown with confusion. "Alice, what are you talking about?"
"Just sit on the couch and relax, Bella. Don't frown."
I sigh and get up from my seat. I settle on the couch and Emily and Angela gush about my hairstyle. I trace idle patterns on my robe and hear the door open. I look towards it and find Vanessa stepping inside, dressed in her flower girl dress. She is wearing a cute hair band and holding a handwoven basket in her hands.
"Bella!" Ness says with enthusiasm and skips over to me.
"You look so adorable, Ness!" I praise her and she giggles.
"Thank you, Bella!" She plops next to me and pulls me in her direction. I lean closer and smile curiously.
"What is it, honey?" I ask and she giggles again.
"Bella, I gots something." She whispers loudly and I chuckle.
"What is it?"
Vanessa puts the basket on her lap and I laugh when I see three chocolate muffins inside. Oh, Edward. God, I love him.
"Thank you so much, sweetheart. Do you want to have one?"
Ness nods and I help her eat a muffin without ruining her dress. "Edward say its a super-secret mission. I didn't tell mommy."
I stroke her lovely hair and kiss her cheek. "That's so great, sweetie. Thank you."
"You look pretty, Bella."
I blush and smile at her. "You look prettier. Can you twirl for me?"
Her eyes light up and she hops off the couch. She stands in front of me and twirls in her beautiful dress. She laughs and I carefully hug her.
"Thank you for that. Is Edward ready?"
Ness smiles. "Yes. Edward look pretty too."
"Of course he does." I whisper to myself and sigh.
I take a bite of the chocolate muffin and smile. It's delicious. I finish it in three bites and feel better. I grab the second one in my hand and Ness leaps off of the couch. She claims her basket again and waves at me before leaving the room. I chuckle and shake my head. As I'm eating the second muffin, I hear a gasp of horror coming from somewhere.
My eyes race all over the room and fall on Alice. She has her hand over her heart as she watches me eat.
"Bella, where did you get that?" She asks suspiciously and I blush. All eyes are curiously staring at our exchange and I feel sheepish for some reason.
"Edward sent it with Vanessa in her basket." I say and she rolls her eyes.
"Aw, that's so sweet." Emily gushes and I smile in her direction.
"I know. He's the sweetest."
Alice sighs. "Fine, if Edward was sneaky enough to send it, you can have it."
"Thanks, Alice!" I beam at her and dig into my muffin. She doesn't need to know that I already ate one.
I watch Emily and Angela put on their bridesmaid dresses and they look beautiful. Alice gave me the liberty to choose what I wanted my bridesmaids to wear. I decided on vintage pale pink lace mismatched gowns. They chose the necklines that best suited them and added their personal touch to it. Emily decided on boat neckline, Angela has a scoop neckline and Alice went with strapless. They are going to look so great.
Once Angela is ready, she pulls out my camera and starts taking pictures. I told her to use my camera and take as many pictures as she wanted. I check the time on the clock and it's twelve noon already. I need to get my make-up done, put on the dress and be presentable. The ceremony starts at four fifteen.
"Alice, can we start with Bella's make-up? It's going to take some time." Stella says and I nod in agreement.
Alice sighs and dials a number. "Give me a minute."
There is a knock on the door and she skips over to open it. She grins from ear to ear when she sees the person on the other side. She opens the door wider and I see a delivery man handing something to Alice. She signs for it and shuts the door.
My lips curl into a smile when I see it's my wedding bouquet. I chose purple carnations because those are the flowers Edward gave me on our first date. They are pretty special. I also wanted different flowers incorporated like roses, lisianthus, and seeded eucalyptus. They all are in shades of purple and lavender with a hint of silver. It's regal and elegant.
"Is this why you wanted me to wait?" I ask and Alice nods with a smile.
"Actually, there is a little surprise for you. Edward added something to your bouquet to make it more perfect." She explains, and I get intrigued.
"What?"
Alice passes me the bouquet and I hold it in my hands. My hand touches something on the stem and I turn to see what it is. It's a diamond bridal bouquet photo charm with two pearl beads, a silver chain, a tiny diamond heart and a charm that says, Walk with me, Mom. Below it is a 1" round diamond photo pendant with a picture of my mom.
I break into full blown sobs looking at the charm. I trace my fingers over the photo of my mom and weep. I miss her so much. I wish she was here today. I can't believe Edward did this for me. He's so perfect and considerate. He knows how much this means to me. It's the most beautiful charm I have ever seen.
"Oh Bella, hush now," Angela sits beside me and rubs my back.
"It's so lovely." I say between sobs and she nods.
"I know but you need to stop crying now. We need to get your make-up done, sweetheart. Do you want to walk down the aisle with a blotchy face? Edward is going to be waiting for you."
I take a deep breath and will myself to stop crying. "Edward. Okay."
"Good girl."
I wipe away my tears and sniffle. Angela grabs a couple of tissues and makes sure that there is no hint of tears on my face. I smile at her and she kisses my cheek before standing up.
"I knew she would cry. That's why I wanted her to see it before the make-up was done." Alice explains and I chuckle.
"Good thinking." I mutter and rise to my feet.
There is a shy knock on the door and everybody sighs. Stella goes to answer it and opens the door. I can't see who it is.
"Um, can I come in for a minute?" I hear Jake ask hesitantly.
"Let him in, Stella." I say and she nods.
Jake steps inside and my eyes brim with tears looking at him. He is dressed in a sharp black tuxedo with a purple carnation boutonniere pinned to the lapel of his jacket. His brown eyes fall on me and he flashes me a broad grin. He walks in my direction and I wipe away the tears that stream from my eyes.
"Hey, Bells," He kisses my cheek and I smile at him. "How do I look?"
"Very handsome," I croak out and straighten his bowtie. "Did you tie this one your own? I'm surprised."
His ears turn pink. "Edward helped me." He mumbles and I snort.
"Okay. Why did you come so early? Alice told you to come at three-thirty." I ask softly and he nods.
"Uh, I got you something."
I frown. "What?"
He smiles timidly and reaches inside his jacket pocket. He pulls out a rectangular box and hands it to me. I trace my fingertips over the blue velvet and beam at him.
"What is it?" I ask and he chuckles.
"Open it, Bells."
I flip open the box and a gasp escapes my lips gazing at the gorgeous bridal hair comb inside. It has tiny sapphires and pearl beads on the branches. It's perfect.
"It's amazing, Jake. Thank you." I whisper and try not to breakdown.
"Alice said you didn't have something blue, so I got one with sapphires on it," He points to the comb and I sniffle.
"It's wonderful, Jake. And so thoughtful of you. I love you." I whisper and tightly hug him.
"Love you too." He mumbles and rubs my back.
"Don't touch her hair!" Emily snaps at him and I giggle. I pull back and he wipes away my tears.
"Your hair looks nice." He whispers and I pat his cheek.
"Thank you. Now go or else Alice will kick you out."
He chuckles. "Alright."
"Alright, all done." Emily whispers from behind after zipping up my wedding dress. She rises to her feet and I turn towards my audience.
Alice, Angela, Mathis, Stella, Jane, Senna, Victoria, Maria and the make-up artists are staring at me with their mouths wide open. Jane dabs her eyes with a napkin and their shocked expressions are replaced with big grins. Alice is the first to break the silence.
"Bella, you are the most beautiful bride I have ever seen." She whispers and her voice breaks.
I blush to my roots and smile shyly. "Thank you, Alice."
Jane stands up and walks over to me. She grabs my wrists and resists the urge to hug me. "You look stunning, Bella. Edward is a lucky guy."
"I'm pretty lucky too." I whisper and watch a tear fall from her eye.
"Damn it, my mascara." She mutters and I chuckle. She excuses herself to fix her make-up.
All the ladies shower me with compliments of which I hate. I feel like I'm a permanent shade of deep red. The hair and make-up artists start packing up and the photographers' starts taking photos. The event coordinator enters the room and directs everyone to the best place to get photos taken.
Everybody except for Alice and Angela leave. They stay back to help me put on the veil. Once they are done, I'm officially ready to marry Edward. My heart starts beating fast at the thought of walking down the aisle.
I stare at my wedding dress and smile to myself. I hope he likes it too. This wedding dress is my dream come true. It's crafted in tulle and lace; a princess dress with a low waist. It accentuates the silhouette and the femininity with the magic of a V-neck and deep v-back. It's sensual yet sophisticated.
I have paired my dress with white frosted glitter Louboutin pumps that look striking. I'm wearing a pair of diamond stud earrings that Edward gave me not long ago.
"Bella?"
I turn when I hear Esme's voice coming from the doorway. Her green eyes stare at me from head to toe and she immediately starts crying.
"You look breathtaking!" She exclaims and walks over to me. "I wish I could hug you. I don't want to ruin your make-up and dress."
I smile and my eyes almost fill with tears looking at her awed expression. "Thank you, Esme." I whisper and swallow the lump in my throat.
"What for, dear?"
"For always being there for me. You know I always tell you this but I hope my mom was just as caring and loving as you. I hope you know how much you and Carlisle mean to me." I say and blink back my tears.
Esme wipes away her tears and pats my hand. "We do, honey. We love you very much. We're so glad Edward was fortunate enough to meet you."
I smile in return and look over her shoulder when the door opens. I see Carlisle poking his head inside and his eyes comically widen looking at me. He opens the door wider and walks inside.
"Bella dear, you look marvelous. Edward is dying to see you. It's going to be worth his wait," He whispers and I giggle. "I need to rush back now. There are guests waiting to be greeted. I'll send Jacob over and see you at the altar."
I nod at him and he exits the room.
Alright, only thirty minutes to go.
Jacob pulls my hand through his arm and grasps it tightly. He gives me a soothing smile and I try to return his smile but I'm sure it comes out as a grimace. I can feel my heart beating rapidly as I hear music coming from the church. Jane and Alice hired a string quartet to play music at the wedding ceremony but they wouldn't tell me who is playing at the reception.
Edward and I wanted to get married in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Rome which is the perfect place to celebrate our beautiful wedding.
Currently, Jake and I along with my bridesmaids are making our way towards the church. An intriguing tunnel runs between the Castle and the church with its medieval exterior and Baroque-inspired interior embellished with priceless paintings. It's perfect.
I can hear Alice, Emily and Angela chattering about something but I'm too busy trying not to pass out. My ears perk up when I hear a couple of familiar voices approaching us in the tunnel. Alex, Will, Emmet along with Jared and Ness come into our view. Jared and Ness look adorable. The men are dressed in tuxedos just like Jake.
Alex whistles when his eyes fall on me. "Bella, you look… wow… just stunning." He stutters and I nod at him.
"What's wrong with her? Is she going into shock?" Emmett asks with a frown and I don't answer him.
Jacob shrugs next to me. "I think she's just scared. Right, Bells?"
Will walks closer to me. "I think it's because of the tunnel."
Alice groans and pushes him away. "Stop talking and get into your positions."
They grumble under their breaths and I watch Will stand with Emily, Angela and Emmett are next and then it's Alice and Alex-the best man and maid of honor. Alice takes my sweaty hand in hers and her blue eyes stare deeply into mine.
"Bella, try to breathe. Okay? Don't panic. Remember, Edward is waiting through those doors. Think about Edward." She reminds me and I nod.
"Edward. Right." I whisper and she smiles.
"Great."
Alice bends down towards the kids and I smile. "Okay, Jared and Ness. Nellie told you your job, right?" They nod at her. "And please don't run, okay? You need to walk slowly. Jared, you need to be careful."
"Yes!" He nods at her with a grin and I chuckle. He's so cute.
Alice gazes at me and back towards them. "I think Bella needs a hug, guys."
Ness and Jared hug my dress and I smile. I ruffle their hair and they beam at me. I stiffen when the quartet starts playing Pachelbel's Canon in D. Oh my god, it's happening. My heart starts thundering in my chest and I watch Emily and Will walk out the doors arm in arm. I swallow the big lump in my throat and lean against Jake. He pats my arm and sighs.
"Bella, you look pale. What should I do?" Alice whispers with worry and I clear my throat. I don't know what to do about that.
Alex scoffs next to her and walks towards me. He leans closer and I listen intently.
"Bella, don't worry. Marriage doesn't lower the sex drive. You'll be fine." He whispers with a straight face and my entire face heats up.
I smile despite my anxiety. "That's so inappropriate."
"There you go, a blushing bride," Alex announces and kisses my cheek. "Good luck."
Jake and I stand in position behind Jared and Ness who are playing with the flowers in the basket. Nellie, the event coordinator walks in our direction once Alex and Alice leave for the march. She hands a velvet pillow with two wedding bands perched on them-to Jared. He tries to touch them but she swats his hand away. He pouts and looks at me.
"Smile please." I whisper and he gives me a toothy grin. I giggle and shake my head.
Nellie opens the door for the kids and I watch them slowly make their way towards the end of the aisle.
"Edward!" Jared and Ness yell with delight and Jake and I share a smile. I can hear a couple of people laughing. Oh, the kids adore Edward.
My smile disappears when the song comes to a gradual end and Secret Garden's Hymn to Hope starts playing. That's my cue.
"Ready, Bells?" Jake asks with a grin and I compose my face and thoughts. I nod at him and he tightens his hold on my hand.
Nellie opens the door for us and the music suddenly seems louder, more real. I gaze at Jake and he has a soft expression on his face.
"Don't let me fall." My voice is barely a whisper and his eyes glaze over with tears.
"Never, Bella."
I can smell the fragrance of thousands of flowers and the rustling of the audience as I come into their view. I hold onto Jake for dear life and stare at my feet, trying not to trip and break my neck. I take one step at a time and look at the hardwood floor beneath my feet.
I look up once I step onto the white carpet that leads to the aisle. As soon as I know I won't trip, I become distracted by the elegant floral decorations, atmospheric lighting and the quartet playing on the side. My eyes race over the satin-draped chairs and my face heats up when I find all eyes on me. I look straight ahead and a familiar pair of green eyes locks with mine.
I watch him standing around the glow of candles and the aisle overflowing with flowers. I forget about everything, everything but him. I can barely register that there are friends and family around us, bridesmaids and groomsmen standing not too far from him or the minister behind him. All I care about in this moment is him.
Edward's eyes are glowing with intensity and I don't think he has ever looked more perfect. I memorize every feature of his face and my heart is overwhelmed from the sudden rush of emotions.
I am dazed looking at the flawless man in front of me and his scorching look makes me flush deeply. He blinks rapidly and the awed expression is replaced by exuberance. His face breaks into a loving smile and I realize I'm returning his smile. I tighten my grip on the bouquet and try to resist the urge to sprint towards him. That would be inappropriate.
I blink back my tears when my vision is blurred. I slowly and carefully march to the music as I walk down the aisle towards him. The music playing in the background is like a cathartic release from the unbelievably joyful emotions radiating off both of us.
Edward continues smiling at me and I watch him wipe a tear from the corner of his eye. My eyes soften and I try to reach him as fast as possible. I can feel tears silently streaming down my face as I reach him.
The music gradually ends and Jake places my hand in Edward's. I feel at home as soon as his warm hand interlaces with mine. Jake kisses my cheek and nods at Edward before taking a seat somewhere. I can't take my eyes off Edward.
Edward kisses the back of my hand and wipes away my tears. I smile at him and we stand facing each other. I pass my wedding bouquet to Alice and grab both his hands in mine. We each have matching grins on our faces as the minister asks everyone to take their seats.
Our eyes never leave each other's as we recite the simple, traditional vows said by millions of couples like us. His eyes are shining with love and immense satisfaction and I'm pretty sure my expression matches his.
And then it's time to say the binding words.
"I do." I whisper and try to stop myself from crying.
The minister recites the words for Edward to speak and I watch him holding back his tears.
"I do." He says in his velvety softly voice and his eyes stare deep into mine.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss-"
Before the minister can finish his sentence, Edward lovingly cradles my face in his hands and tenderly kisses me. I wind my arms around his neck and kiss him back. He is mine. Now and for always. I can't think of anything but him. He loves me and I love him. Everything feels perfect in this moment.
A few seconds later, I hear exaggerated throat clears and laughing in the audience. Edward breaks our kiss and I breathlessly gaze at him from under my lashes. He strokes my cheek and pecks my lips. I blush furiously and he touches his forehead to mine.
The crowd erupts into applause and he turns our bodies to face our family and friends. Alice hands me the bouquet and I gaze at my mom's picture for a brief second. I look up at Edward and find his eyes gazing at me. I smile and he kisses the top of my head.
"Thank you." I whisper and kiss his cheek.
He grins at me. "You are welcome, Mrs. Cullen."
I laugh and my face heats up even more if that's possible. "I love the sound of that."
"Me too."
As the sun sets behind the mountains, the wedding ceremony flows smoothly into the reception. The guests are escorted to the Secret Garden that has a breathtaking view over Lake Bracciano and the massive crenellated towers of the manor house in the background. The crowd spreads out along the space and enjoys the welcome drinks and cocktails being served.
Alice whisks away the family to get pictures taken before we have the chance to meet our guests. We make small talk with our family and friends. Edward introduces me to some of his cousins from Chicago-whom I had never met before.
Hors d'oeuvres soon start getting served and they are delicious. I try not to eat too much because I need to save space for dinner. I sip on my sparkling cider and enjoy the mellow evening surrounding us.
Edward interlaces our hands and leads me to the back end of the garden that faces the Lake. It's a breathtaking view. I put my head on his chest and close my eyes. I wind my arms around his waist and feel his hands caressing my behind. The cool breeze makes me smile and I savor the time alone with my husband. Husband. My smile widens.
"Bella?"
"Hmm?" I open my eyes and tilt my head in his direction.
"Did I mention that you look heartbreakingly beautiful tonight?" He asks and I laugh.
"You did, sweetheart. More than once."
"Well, you do. It's tough for me to watch so many men leering at you and not punch their faces." He comments lightly and I roll my eyes.
"You're not punching anybody tonight of all nights."
He smiles and strokes my cheek. "Remember, I said that I had surprises for you?"
I giggle. "You gave me the bouquet. And it was the most beautiful wedding bouquet ever."
He chuckles and gives me a chaste kiss. "There are two more surprises for you."
My eyes widen. "Really? What are they?"
"One of them is not technically a surprise but you will be shocked." He explains and I frown.
"I don't understand."
His phone buzzes in his pants and he winks at me. "Come on."
Edward puts an arm around my waist and leads me back to where the guests are mingling. We make our way near the entrance and I pick up two pieces of mini chicken sandwiches on the way. These sandwiches are delicious. I finish my appetizers in four bites and stand on my tiptoes when I see a crowd forming at a far distance.
"What's going on?" I ask and he chuckles.
"You'll see."
Edward interlaces our hands and I see Alex and Will laughing alongside a blonde man-who is getting looks from everyone. When Alex catches the sight of us, he whispers something to the man and he turns in our direction.
It's Alec Parmer, Alex and Will's dad, and my childhood crush. He is also the guy whose movie posters I have been collecting since I can remember. He is at my wedding. He is attending my wedding reception.
"Wha-How… How… How did you do this?" I choke out and gaze at my husband.
Edward smiles smugly and shrugs. "Technically, he is a part of our family. He flew in for our wedding."
"Oh my god." I mutter and watch him walk in our direction.
"Ouch." Edward whispers in pain and I look at him.
"Honey, what's wrong?"
"Well, you might cut my blood circulation if you hold my hand any tighter." He mentions and I gaze at our clasped hands.
"Oops. Sorry, baby." I remove my hold on his hand and he snakes his arm around my waist instead.
"Hey, Alec." Edward greets him and gives a quick hug.
"Hello, Edward. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the wedding ceremony, I heard it was great. Congratulations." He says and smiles. He is so dreamy.
"Alec, let me introduce you to someone very, very special. This is my beautiful wife, Bella. Baby, this is Alec, Will and Alex's father." Edward introduces us and I close my mouth that is hanging open.
"Bella, it's so lovely to meet you. Congratulations on your wedding. I've heard great things about you from my sons and Jane. They can't stop raving about you." He says and I laugh nervously.
"My name just came out of your mouth," I chuckle and shake my head. "This isn't happening. This isn't real. It's great to meet you, Mr. Palmer."
"Call me Alec," He smiles and I blush to my roots. "And I also want to congratulate you on the success of your newly published book. I'll definitely be buying a copy soon."
"Really?" I ask and his gray eyes are smoldering. I take his hands in both of mine and smile. "Thank you very much."
"I'm really glad I could be part of your special day." He says and I start hyperventilating. What is happening to me? I feel like I'm going to make a complete fool of myself.
"Thank you," I whisper and grabs his arms. "Thank you. I just… I wanted to marry you when I was twelve. And you're standing here on my wedding day. I mean I love Edward but you're so handsome and-"
Suddenly, I feel two pairs of arms wrapping around my waist and pulling me back. Edward brings my back to his chest and kisses my cheek.
"Could you excuse us, Alec?" Edward asks softly and I continue staring at Alec with a star struck expression on my face.
"You're very handsome." I whisper to him and look past him to see Alex clutching his stomach and laughing his heart out.
"Yeah, let's get out of here." Edward mutters and I sigh. I gaze at Will.
"Take care of him. He's important. Let me know if he needs anything." I say pointedly and Will is trying to maintain a straight face but I see laughter bubbling inside him. Why are they laughing?
"Alright, we're out of here." Edward drags me away from Alec Parmer and I grin at him.
"Edward, he held my hands." I say excitedly and he rolls his eyes.
"No, you grabbed his hands. What the hell were you trying to do?"
"I was just star struck looking at him. I had never met any of my celebrity crushes before." I explain and he leads me to the back end of the garden where we were previously standing.
Edward crosses his arms over his chest and stares at me with an unreadable expression on his face. Now that I think about it, I did compliment Alec in front of my husband and indirectly preferred him over Edward.
"Are you mad at me?" I ask in a small voice and his expression softens.
"No. I just felt uncomfortable watching you fawn over somebody else in front of me." He mutters and I sigh.
"I'm sorry, Edward," I put my arms around his neck and he winds his arms around my waist. "You are my second favorite person in the world."
"Who's first?" He asks, and I put his hand over my belly.
"Our baby." I answer with a smile and he chuckles.
"Hmm, can't argue with that one."
"I probably won't talk to Alec again because I embarrassed myself in front of him." I mumble and hide my face against his chest.
Edward laughs and kisses my hair. "I'm not denying that. I had never seen you behave that way before. Alex was dying of laughter next to Alec. It was hilarious."
I pull back and pout. "I don't want you laughing at me too."
"I won't baby. God, I love you." He smiles and his lips descend on mine.
Edward and I make a grand entrance to the Courtyard of Honor; a magnificent large paved area with a majestic double-arched loggia. The guests cheer and applaud as Edward leads me to the dance floor. I frown when I see the empty stage with no musicians in sight.
I gaze at the gorgeous decorations that make the castle glow. There are round light balls over the tables, hanging streams of light over the dance floor, lighted centerpieces and bistro lights that tie up the concept. The venue looks perfect.
The emcee takes hold of the mic and grabs everyone's attention.
"We apologize for making the bride and the groom wait. Without further ado, let me call up on stage… Joe Russo!" He announces, and the audience goes bonkers.
My hand covers my mouth as I watch one of the most famous bands in the world enter the arena with their instruments. I remember talking about them with Edward on Thanksgiving. I love their music. I can't believe Edward did this!
"I promise this is the last surprise." He says with a smile and I kiss him.
"It's the best one." I whisper and he snorts.
"Are you ready for our First Dance, Mrs. Cullen?" Edward asks and I blush. I put my hand in his outstretched one and he pulls me closer.
"Yes."
The band starts playing the familiar chords of Elvis Presley's Can't help falling in love and the female lead croons in a soft melodic voice. Edward holds me close to him and does all the work while I gracefully twirl under the canopy of lights. I can hear and see the bright flashes of cameras but I can't look away from Edward. He is so handsome.
Edward leans in my direction and presses his lips against mine. I smile and eagerly kiss him back. We stay in our own bubble as the band continues playing the beautiful song. It's fitting that we chose this song because it always reminds me of him. Not that I need something to keep him on my mind. I'm always thinking about him.
"How has the night treated you so far?" Edward asks with a smile and I flush.
"It can't get any better than this, Edward. I feel so overwhelmed. Everyone I love is here with us tonight. And I got to marry the most special man in the world." I whisper and gaze into his soulful green eyes.
"I'm glad we think on the same wavelength, love. You're so beautiful," He strokes my cheek and I lean against his touch. "Do you have any idea how heavenly you look tonight? You look like an angel, Bella."
I blush redder and shake my head. "Biased much, Cullen?"
He kisses the top of my head. "You should see how enchanting you look. You're glowing, my love."
My eyes prick with tears when I gaze at his loving face. There is so much reverence and fervor in the way he stares at me or talks to me… it's disarming.
"I love you, Edward." I choke out and feel tears silently streaming down my face.
"I love you too, baby. So much." He murmurs and reaches over to wipe away my tears. I rest my head on his chest again and we sway with the music.
Once the song ends, Edward stops moving and I lift my head from his chest. I smile when I see Carlisle standing behind him with a big grin on his face.
"May I cut in?" He asks politely and Edward doesn't seem too pleased with the interruption. "Bella, it's time for the Father-Daughter Dance. Would you mind dancing with me?"
I shake my head and blink back my tears. Edward smiles at his father and gazes at me. He gives me a chaste kiss and I release him.
"Edward, your mom is waiting for her dance."
"Yes, sir." He nods and gives me another kiss before walking over to Esme.
Carlisle dances just as effortlessly as Edward does; it's easy to dance with any person from the Cullen-Platt family. My eyes fall on Jake who is grinning in my direction. I smile back at him and frown curiously when I see him sitting next to a blonde. Who is she? Hmm, interesting. Esme and Edward are effortlessly whirling on the dance floor and they seem to be animatedly talking about something.
Carlisle and I have a pleasant conversation and he mentions that Edward has changed drastically since he met me. He shares some funny incidents from Edward's high school days that make me burst out laughing. My husband had colorful days back when he was younger. After the song ends, there is light applause from the audience and Carlisle and Esme walk over to the stage to officially welcome everyone.
Edward leads me to our table and pulls out a chair for me. I kiss his cheek and carefully take a seat. He sits on my left and puts his hand on my knee. I put my hand atop his and he pecks my lips. I smile and we turn our attention to Alice blabbering about the Joe Russo Band. We are seated at the head table along with Alice, Alex, Jake, Esme and Carlisle.
Dinner starts and I inhale the courses served as if I've been starving for months. The food is delicious and I can see guests enjoying their food as well.
"Tired?" Edward whispers against my ear and I lean my head on his shoulder.
I chuckle. "No."
"I have your meds with me, baby. Don't forget to take them."
"I won't." I promise him and kiss the corner of his mouth.
Once the four-course meal is over, Alice and Alex make their best-man and maid of honor speeches. Alice gives a short and sweet speech while Alex embarrasses Edward in the start and leaves everybody crying by the end. I didn't expect Alex to give such an emotional and loving speech. I even saw Edward tearing up a little.
The music suddenly gets louder and everybody rushes to the dance floor to shake a leg. Alex whisks me away from Edward and I see Alice dancing with him. Later, I dance with Jake, Will, Emmett, Jasper, Sam and Ben. I notice Edward dancing with different ladies at intervals. I even get a chance to dance with Alec! I felt like I was dreaming.
When I'm dancing with Anthony, my heart starts pounding and I feel lightheaded. I can't understand what's happening. I think Anthony is talking to me but I can only hear his lips moving. I suddenly feel a pair of hands on my waist. They spin me around and I look directly into a pair of anxious green orbs.
"Bella?" It's Edward. "Baby, are you alright?"
I only manage to shake my head through the tears blinding my vision.
"Shit, the meds," I hear him mutter. "Come on, love. You forgot to take the pills."
Edward leads me away from the throngs of people and settles me onto a chair. I shut my eyes and already feel calmer from inhaling the fresh air. It was getting crowded on the dance floor.
"Here, Bella," Edward says softly and I open my eyes. I find him holding a glass of water and two pills in his hand. I quietly swallow them and inhale the water. "Careful, sweetheart."
"Sit with me." I murmur and hear him pulling a chair next to me. I feel his arm draping over my shoulder and I lean against him.
We sit in silence for a couple of minutes and I open my eyes when I feel back to normal. I gaze at his handsome face and he brushes his hand against my cheek.
"Better?"
I nod and kiss his cheek. "Yes, thank you."
"Fuck, you scared me there for a minute." He admits and I blush.
"Sorry. How did you come over to me so fast? You were so far away."
"I was already walking over to you. I hate sharing you with everyone tonight." He whispers and a small pout forms on his face.
I giggle and peck his lips. "Oh baby, you're so cute. Just a few more hours, and then it's just us."
His lips curl into a sexy smile. "Hmm, you're right about that, Mrs. Cullen."
"I always am, husband." I cuddle against him and feel his lips pressing against my forehead.
"Wanna cut our cake? I think it's time for dessert."
I release him and nod eagerly. I can't wait to have some cake! It's going to be delicious. Edward and I made a quick decision to choose chocolate fudge cake with white chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream.
Edward and I make our way to the aisle where the cake is displayed. It looks gorgeous and extravagant. It's a five-tier cake! Alice went overboard but damn, it looks very good.
The guests gather around us and photographers take our pictures as we hold the knife over the cake. I can hear the band playing on stage and the emcee saying something on the microphone. We cut a slice and feed each other a piece. We had decided long ago not to shove cake into each other's faces as neither of us like the tradition.
Everyone applauds and Emmett shouts at me to shove the cake on my husband's face but I shake my head. Edward pulls me in his arms and plants a gentle kiss on my lips.
I gracefully throw my bouquet and it lands in Senna's hands which makes me laugh. I gaze at Alex who looks more surprised than Senna.
Once the party is in full swing, Edward and I take pictures with the guests and enjoy our time with friends. Esme and Carlisle seem busy making small talk with everyone and I haven't seen Jane for a very long time. Alex mentioned that Angela and Jane were taking care of the wedding gifts. I don't know what we wouldn't done if it wasn't for our family. We are very lucky.
Edward leads me to the dance floor and I happily follow him. We whirl to the music and I feel utterly overjoyed tonight. It's the best night of my life. I don't think it can get any better than this.
I put my head on Edward's chest and we remain wrapped up to each other. I feel his phone buzzing in his pants and he stiffens a little. I lift my face and gaze at him from under my lashes.
"Is there a problem?" I ask and he hesitates but then sighs.
"Uh yes, with the Dubai Project." He mutters and I can hear the trepidation in his voice.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not really. I'm trying not to think about it."
I sigh gently. "If you want, we can postpone our hone-"
"No," He cuts me off and touches his forehead to mine. "None of that is happening. I want to spend time with you. I need to spend time with you. You'll be off on your book tour next month. I just need to spend every waking moment with you."
My heart constricts hearing that. "Whatever you want, Edward. Of course I want us to spend quality time together. I just don't want you to be worried about work while we'll be off somewhere."
"I'll try not to let that happen, I promise," He pecks my lips. "I love you."
"I love you too. So much."
Our lips connect for a soft kiss and I tighten my arms around his neck. He gently cradles my face and I sigh when he deepens our kiss. I think we're being a little inappropriate but at this moment, I don't care. It's our wedding after all.
"Bella! Edward!" I hear Alice calling our names. "Guys, cut it out! Bella needs to get changed!"
Edward pulls back and turns his head in his sister's direction. "Fuck off, Alice."
"What the heck!" She yells when his lips meet mine again. "You have no public manners! I need everything to go according to plan! We're way behind schedule!"
I sigh and ignore my new sister-in-law. She's annoying all the time.
"Edward, I'll tell Bella where you're taking her for the honeymoon!"
Edward abruptly breaks our kiss and glares in her direction. "I hate you, Alice."
Alice smirks at him and grabs my hand in hers. She blows him a kiss as she drags me away from him. "I know."
Alice speedily plucks the pins out of my hair and I sigh with relief when my head feels lighter again. She brushes my hair and lets it flow down my shoulders in its natural wavy form. I take off my earrings and put them in my white clutch. I gaze at my reflection in the mirror and feel butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I'm going on my honeymoon.
I don my white cropped cloque cropped jacket over the matching wide-legged jumpsuit. It's sophisticated and comfortable. Alice chose the perfect outfit for me. I strap on a pair of white leather sandals and walk over to Alice.
"Alice, thank you for everything. This is the best wedding anyone's ever had. It was perfect. I know you made a lot of effort to make sure everything happened the way it's supposed to. Thank you." I say and she grins at me.
"Oh of course, Bella," She tightly hugs me and I smile. "I love you guys. It was so much fun doing this! I had an amazing time."
"I'm sure everyone did," I release her and kiss her cheek. "Thanks again."
I hug my friends goodbye and walk out of the room to find Edward standing in the hallway, sexily leaning against the wall. His green eyes light up when he gazes at me. I put my arms around his neck and his hands land on my waist.
"You look absolutely alluring right now, Mrs. Cullen," He whispers huskily and his lips curl into a seductive smile. I flush and gaze at his handsome face. "I can't wait to get you out of these clothes."
Edward is still dressed in his tux but he has removed his bowtie and undone the first button of his shirt. He looks hot. He always does.
"I can't wait to get out of them." I murmur against his lips and kiss him. I can feel my body yearning with desire and his tantalizing touch feels so good.
We jump startled when there is a throat clear behind us. I blush redder and look past his shoulder to see Jane standing a few steps away from us with a smile on her face. Edward and I grin at her and tightly hug her.
"We haven't seen you all night." Edward whispers once we pull back.
"Well, there was always work in the way."
"Thank you so much, Jane. We really appreciate your effort. Thank you for making our wedding so beautiful." I say earnestly and her eyes soften.
"Of course I did," She strokes my cheek. "I can't believe you guys are married! It feels like only yesterday that I was sitting in Edward's office and hearing about the crush he had on a pretty girl he met at a bookstore."
Edward laughs and snakes an arm around my waist. Jane smiles at the sight of us and her eyes glaze over with tears.
"I'm so happy for you. You deserve all the happiness in the world."
My throat tightens and I hug her again. "Thank you, Jane."
"Oh honey," She rubs my back and I release her. She smiles and strokes my face. "No crying."
"Okay." I chuckle and lean against Edward.
"Let's get moving."
Edward and I meet Jake on our way and he seems quite emotional too. I immediately hug him and feel tears oozing from my eyes.
"Bells, don't cry," He says and his voice sounds hoarse.
"People cry at weddings." I mumble and pull back.
Jake gazes at Edward and smiles. "I know you will always take care of my sister. I'm glad she has you. And you're very lucky. She is the best person in the whole world."
"I love you, Jake." I whisper and hug him again.
"I love you too, Bella. Take care of yourself and the baby." He kisses my hair.
I glance at Edward and he smiles softly. I return to his arms and he puts an arm around me. He rubs my arm and looks at Jacob.
"Jacob, I will never let anything happen to Bella. I hope you know that you are a part of our family too. Our doors are always open for you. If you have any problem at any given time, you can come to us. Don't hesitate." Edward says and Jacob nods.
"Thank you, Edward. That means a lot," His smile turns brighter than before. "Now wait here for two minutes before following us."
"What?" I ask and he doesn't reply.
Jane and Jacob leave us standing in the hallway and I sigh. Alice also skips past us and Edward and I share a look. What the hell is going on?
"Do you know anything about this?" I question Edward and he shakes his head.
"No, darling. I have no clue what is going on. Let's go find out."
We interlace our hands and make our way to the entrance. I gasp when I see all our wedding guests gathered around the yard, holding glowing sky lanterns in their hands. Edward grins at me and we descend the stairs. Alex hands me a sky lantern and Edward a lighter. Edward lights up the fuel source and we launch the sky lantern in the air.
Hundreds of sky lanterns follow ours and I beam staring at the gorgeous display. Edward pulls me snugly by him and turns to me. I kiss him and we pull back shortly. The guests make a way for us and cheer and shout out to us as we go towards our waiting car.
The guests throw rice at us and Edward shields me from it. Esme and Carlisle meet us in front of the car and we say them goodbye with hugs and kisses. Before we know it, the entire family gathers to hug us. We bid them goodbye and settle in the car. I wave at everybody as the car starts to move.
Before I know it, we are speeding somewhere I don't know. Edward stares at our clasped hands and kisses my knuckles. His lips curl into a smile and I scoot closer to him. There is a comfortable silence in the car and it's a contrast from how loud the reception was.
I need to ask him where we are going.
"Edward…"
"Yes, baby?" He gives me an impish grin and I smile sweetly.
"Where are we going?"
"Leonardo da Vinci International Airport." He answers and I huff.
"I hate you, Cullen."
He kisses my cheek. "I love you too, darling."
Once we reach the tarmac, Matt holds the door open for me and I step out. Edward reaches me and without warning, he swoops me in his arms bridal style. I squeal and wrap my arms around his neck. I peck his lips and smile.
"What are you doing, husband?" I ask softly and he chuckles.
"I'm carrying my bride over the threshold." He replies with an easy smile and I blush.
"Very thorough, Mr. Cullen. I'm impressed."
Edward carries me towards his private jet and I find the staff waiting for us with eager smiles. I gaze at Edward and make him look into my eyes.
"Where are we going, baby? Tell me, please?" I ask gently and he sighs.
"We are travelling someplace close," He starts off and I nod for him to continue. "We're going to Paris."
I gasp in surprise and kiss him. "Oh my god! That's amazing!"
"And then Venice."
"Venice?"
"Then Geneva."
"Oh my-"
He grins and kisses my forehead. "Then we take a four-day road trip and travel Southern Germany. Then we are going to Prague and later spend a couple of days in Greece. We are spending the last week in Bora Bora. How does that sound?"
"Magical," I breathe out and feel overwhelmed with the news. "I can't wait."
"Told you that you would love it."
"I love everything you do, Edward." I say and he chuckles.
"Very flattering, baby," He kisses me and I smile. "It's going to be a short plane journey but let's put the time to good use."
I flush. "Sounds like a plan, Cullen."
I have a feeling the next few weeks are going to be the best time of my life.
We've had to overcome many obstacles to be in the position where we are today, be it personal or professional. So many people came and left our lives that it's difficult to keep count. But the ones that mattered always stuck with us-our family and friends. I'll always be utterly grateful to them.
Edward offers me a loving smile and I can't help but blush. I know for a fact that no matter what trouble comes our way, with Edward by my side, I'll be more than okay. I think a part of me fell in love with him the moment I saw him. I chose him that very second and I'll always be grateful for making that decision.
"Ready, baby?" Edward asks and I give him a chaste kiss.
"I'm ready."
