Goten sighed as he took a sip of coffee, only to grimace at the taste. It was a rare moment of peace in the office, as Marina seemed to be too engulfed in paperwork to order him around. He nodded his head in acknowledgment to Susie, his very pregnant coworker, as she entered the breakroom.

"Good morning," she chimed as she prepared herself a cup of tea. "It's always so quiet when Marina is occupied isn't it?"

Goten found himself smiling, having thought almost the exact same thing. "Yeah…. I haven't heard "Mr. Song" all morning. Kind of relaxing." He chuckled and then glanced at Susie's belly. "Are you ok to be working right now…? No offense but you look ready to pop."

Susie felt beads of sweat pop from her head and looked back at the younger employee. "Goten sweetie, you need to work on your bluntness you're killing me…" Sighing, she gave her belly a tender rub. "If we're being honest, I'm due anytime this week. But Marina insists working until your water breaks are a good exercise for the body or something. Personally I think she just doesn't want to hire a substitute until she absolutely has to."

Goten frowned and looked down at his cup of black nastiness. "Honestly if she wasn't the CEO she would have gotten reported a long time ago…" Looking out the window, he watched the people go by. It was hard to believe he had been working for only two weeks. 'It feels like so much longer…' He found himself thinking. He was due his first paycheck soon. 'Maybe I'll treat Mom to dinner…' he narrowed his eyes in thought. 'If I invited Mom wouldn't I have to invite Dad? I don't think my paycheck will be that good…'

Goten was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of shattering glass. He whipped around to see Susie crouched over the floor, her mug in pieces. He looked under her and paled upon noticing a small puddle.

"G-Goten!" She cried out in pain.

Goten snapped out of his stupor and rushed to Susie, crouching over and quickly realizing what was happening. "Oh my god you're in labor, aren't you?! W-What should I do!?" He panicked, having no genuine idea of what to do in such a situation.

Susie began her breathing exercises and put her hands on his shoulders. "I-I need to sit! Please help me, then call a freaking ambulance!" She exclaimed somewhat aggressively. Whimpering as Goten slowly stood, bringing her up to his level, she waddled over to the nearest seat. Goten quickly whipped his phone out and dialed for an ambulance.

At that very moment, Marina walked into the breakroom for coffee. Narrowing her eyes, she said, "Mr. Song you are not permitted to use your personal phone during work hours." She gasped audibly when Goten held his index finger to her, asking her to wait and momentarily shushing her. "Excuse me?!" Clenching her fists and marching right up to him, she inhaled, ready to tell her employee off. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Susie and frowned. "What are you doing?" Glancing to the side she spotted a puddle and observed the pregnant woman's behavior. "Oh… Oh! Ok, I take it you're on the line with an ambulance then, Mr. Song?" Goten merely nodded, answering the question from the operator. "Very well then. I'll make an exception." She grabbed a mop and cleaned up the broken water, set a wet floor sign and approached the two. "Give me an update when you deliver, Dear. I'm sure everyone will want to know your condition, and I can't have that affecting productivity."

Susie and Goten stared at her in confusion. Was this compassion from Marina? They both decided now was not the time to worry about the world ending. Goten held Susie's hand, only to wince, surprised by the strength of her grip. Quickly raising his defenses he gently rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb.

"They're on their way ok? It'll be alright."

Marina watched the display in interest. The young man seemed to have the situation under control. She was impressed, to say the least. Deciding she was not needed, the CEB made her cup of coffee and left back to work.

The whole office was on edge to say the least. Goten typed his near-due report and frowned as he checked the clock. Another hour had passed, and still no word about Susie. She was such a sweet woman, much like an older sister. She reminded him of Videl, and he recalled his sister-in-law talking about how painful giving birth felt. The youngest Son brother felt himself getting a migraine and decided it was best to focus on his sales report.

The sound of clicking heels caught the young Son's attention. He looked to the side and saw Marina. "I've received word of Susie's condition. The delivery was successful." Placing one hand on her hip, she added, "I'll be going to see them, and I will be having Jane watching over you, guppy. Don't assume because I'm away you get to slack off." She walked past him, before stopping to emphasize. "I want that report done by the time I get back." Hequickly sat up straight and nodded once.

Goten grunted. "Yes ma'am." He fought the urge to roll his eyes. He watched her walk before asking, "So did she have a boy or girl?"

"Is there any point in asking that stupid question when you're going to see her after a short time anyway." The blonde scoffed.

And here I thought she was becoming a decent human being… Goten scowled in his mind, making sure the inner expression didn't reach his eyes. A short time…? What does that even mean?

Susie sighed contently as the nurse handed her her precious child. "Congratulations on a healthy baby boy Mr. and Mrs. Kan. You did a great job." She bowed once, allowing her patient's privacy, planning to come back a little later.

Susie's husband, Kevin, stared at his child, smiling contently at the little addition. "He's wonderful…" He kissed his wife's temple and took the child into his arms. "I was hoping for a son!"

She smiled and leaned back into her hospital bed. "I was hoping for a girl. But you're right, he's too wonderful to be disappointed." She laughed.

In the door frame, Marina was watching silently, having her lips pursed shut to avoid interrupting. Her eyes narrowed angrily, fixating on the child in Kevin's arms. "..." She felt something in the pit of her stomach as she observed the happy family. What am I feeling right now…? Disappointment? Anger? ...Shame? Ugh, it feels disgusting… She crossed her arms and dug her nails into the fabric of her sleeve. "Tsk... " Her heels clicked aggressively as she walked into the room. "Congratulations Susie, I hope you enjoy your maternity leave while it lasts. I expect you to be working again in two weeks." She had a smirk planted on her face as Susie's eyes widened.

Kevin set his child down into his crib and turned to the woman angrily. "Two weeks? The standard is eight weeks, or at least six! You can't expect her to come in after a measly two we-" He stopped when he felt Susie touch his arm.

"It's alright…" She turned to Marina, a firm frown planted on her face. "I'll see you in two weeks, Marina."

Marina frowned at her compliance, before turning sharply. "Alright, see to it then. That's all I came here for." With that, she left.

Susie closed her eyes and rubbed her hand against her head. "Of course… her being nice was too good to be true."

Marina marched down the hallway, her eyes closed in frustration and her steps heavy. 'What am I feeling right now… I have a multi-million company. Why does someone as insignificant as Susie infuriate me so much?' Shaking her head and smirking again, she looked forward. "I suppose since Susie will be gone, I'll have to spread her work out to compensate for lost time."

Oooooof! It's been a long time… Honestly, Marina genuinely infuriates me. I'm trying to get back into the writing scene, so I'm sorry the chapter is so short. I guess you could say I'm rusty and trying to polish myself back up.
