MULTIVERSE, After battle of Edinburgh

As the other's left the quinjet to help vision, the Doctor stayed behind. River walked up the ramp and joined him.

"So are we gonna talk about it?" River asked.

"Talk about what?" The Doctor said as he was checking the structural integrity of the quinjet.

"New York?" River asked.

"What about it?" The Doctor asked as he did some work on a tablet, still not looking at her.

"You used a gun," River said, "you used a gun with no restraint."

"And?" The Doctor asked.

"What is wrong with you?" River asked, "The man I knew would never have used a gun, he would have sabotaged the ship and stranded the enemy to be pummeled by the Avengers!"

"Yes, yes he would've." The Doctor said.

"Again I ask what is wrong with you?" River asked, "What happened to the man that I knew?"

"I'm not him!" The Doctor shouted as he threw down the tablet. "I'm not him anymore, I'm different, I have this whole other person inside my head. I know what you're thinking, 'you did the same thing with John Smith' but this is different. John's memories were programmed, Eli's aren't, he lived every moment of it. I lived every moment of it. I'm not the Doctor that you know, I'm a hybrid of sorts, and I will stay this way until this person gets out of my head!" The Doctor leaned over for a moment.

"Do you want him gone?" River asked.

"I'm not sure." The Doctor said.

"What do you mean?" River asked.

"It's not simple, he's a person, and he is terrified." The Doctor said.

"So are the rest of us." River said.

"Just know that I'm different, I hope this doesn't make you hate me." The Doctor said as he dropped his head down.

"It'll take some getting used to," River said, "but we'll be fine." River said as he put her hand on his shoulder before walking back to Avengers HQ. The Doctor looked up, and he smiled if only for a moment.
