Prompt: Family Bonding: Write a story about one of your character's home life, With there parents or siblings getting along or fighting.
Featuring: Brenna (Oc), Eir (Npc Oc), and Elena (Npc Oc)
Riding her black battle Pegasus a blonde worrier Valkyrie flew over the battle grounds of Midguard and watched as souls rose from the ground she and her sisters were to choose half of them to join the feast of Valhalla while the rest went elsewhere. Seeing the souls she shook her head, it didn't feel right choosing like this, they weren't gods, they were just messengers and elite guards.
Watching as Eir, a black haired woman riding a gray Pegasus, landed and placed a gentle hand on the forehead of a man who had a kind look in his eyes. Eir always had a way of choosing the most gentle yet fierce worriers.
The wind rushed past as Elena their leader dove past Brenna, her hand brushed against three different heads before the older female sped over to Brenna "Sister, you need to choose, we only have so long and everyone needs to pull there weight." She reached over and gave Brenna's hair a small ruffle before saying quietly "I know you don't quite agree, but this is the job you were given and you have too fulfill it least you be taken from us... You might be the youngest, but that doesn't mean your any less important." with that she flew off again.
The young blonde wiped her eye clear of the tear that threatened to fall, she wasn't sure what had come over her, but the fact that at least one of her sisters attempted to understand her feeling meant the world to her. Swallowing the lump in her throat she went to work, even if she didn't agree with it she knew if they came up short it wouldn't be just her who took the blame because unlike most asguardians or even midguardians once you were chosen as a Valkyrie the only family you had were your sisters and it was an unbreakable bond.
Picking people here and there she eventually heard Elena calling for everyone, there quota for the battle had been met and it was time to leave.
It didn't take long for the hall to get loud again, though now most were laughing at what they'd seen. In the back Brenna sat at a bench, she put her head down and let out a groan. Unable to see the blonde heard a familiar voice let out a small laugh from behind her, "That was a bit more intense then normal... You feeling alright, B?"
Raising her head to look at Eir, her curly black hair framed her face perfectly "Eir, how are you OK with with we do? We see thousands of souls and have to choose who comes here and who doesn't..."
Eir shrugged, "It's what we do Brenna, we are Odin's chosen ones, sent to gather worriers for the coming Ragnarok."
Shaking her head "Just because it's what Odin has planned doesn't make it right... Look at the people we choose, based on pure brute strength in battle, most of them are idiots, brutish, and crude... Eir, I dont like what we do I wish there were another job for me..."
Eir took a small step back "Brenna! Quite, that's blasphemy. You were hand picked by Odin, you should be thankful."
Brenna let out a small breath, while she and Eir were sisters in all but blood there were some things they just couldn't talk about, Brenna's distaste for her job was one of them. Without another word the blonde girl stood up and walked out of the building headed to her room. She felt so alone, even with people she called her sisters around her. She knew they cared about her, but they simply couldn't understand why she hated there position and so slowly they started drifting apart.
Brenna fell asleep in a pool of tears that night and many nights after that, she knew it was only a matter of time before she wouldn't have her sisters behind her, that eventually they would all turn against her. It wasn't shocking, they were hand picked by Odin, it was an honor to them. Just not the Brenna who hated the fact she didn't have a choice, that her decision was made for her and there was nothing she could do about it.
Unless she wanted to be banished from Asgard for the rest of eternity, away from the only family she'd ever known...
