THROWING DOWN.
The team are seated at their desks working. Tony and Tim notice that Ziva seems a bit distracted. She's stopped typing and is staring into space as if trying to work something out.
"Can I help you officer David?"
"Why would I need help agent DiNozzo?"
Bravely deciding to jump in before this can escalate Tim responds. "Are you having difficulty with the files? Our system does take a bit of getting used to. I could give you a tutorial if you want."
She smiles. "Thanks for offering but I think I am starting to...as you say...getting hung up on it."
"You mean getting the hang of it."
"That too Tony." She resumes her typing.
"Oh. Were you daydreaming then?" McGee asks in a skeptical tone as he simply can't imagine the Israeli doing anything that frivolous.
"If you must know.." she glares at them in a way that implies it is none of their business.
"I'm the senior field agent. I need to know everything. Besides if you don't tell me I'll have to investigate to find out."
"You would investigate me?"
"Weeeelll." Tony is suddenly looking a lot less confident.
"It is nothing. I overheard Abby talking in the break area and to keep my skills sharp was attempting to uncover who she was talking about. It is proving to be quite difficult." She shrugs.
"Why?"
"Because in my short time here" and in the research I did on the team she thinks but doesn't say "Abby has been the happiest, friendliest, most easy going person I have ever met."
"Just wait 'til Halloween." Tim remarks.
"Why?"
"You'll see. That's not important now. Why does Abby's personality matter?"
"It means her comment did not make sense to me...in the context of how she appears to approach the world. I can not picture her being violent towards anyone. However, she did say that she wanted to throw a party. Is throwing a martial arts or self defense thing? And who is this party? Why did she not name them?"
"Um. Ziva."
"Yes,Tim?"
He turns with a help me look to his other colleague.
"You are so right officer David."
"Usually" she snarks back at him.
"Your personality assessment was accurate."
"I knew it."
"Your interpretation of the conversation wasn't."
"Oh."
"To throw a party means to hold a party. A celebration. For a birthday or Christmas or an engagement or graduation or...no reason whatsoever than to get friends together."
"Huh."
"Don't worry about it. You'll soon get hung up on it." He grins at her.
She grins back as she realizes he is quoting her back to herself and with that mystery solved they all return to their work waiting for the next one to come along.
