Hello everyone, I have decided to rewrite this story. After logging back into fanfiction after some years I have discovered how horrible my writing style was back then. I hope you like this edit and rewrite of my story.

Chapter 1- The beginning

I rolled over in bed, arm draping around my husband still asleep form. I am Calwyn, The Singer of All Songs and exactly 10 years ago to this day I defeated Samis, sending him away in a ship and curing the world of the Snow Sickness.

After the defeat of Samis and the curing of the Snow Sickness, Darrow and I spent close to 8 years travelling the world, bringing Chantment back to all parts of the globe. I met with the downtrodden and defeated and gave them the courage to use their gifts in the open, no more fear and hiding. Before returning to Ravemy to begin my dream of opening a Chanters college. Using the Tenth Power, Trout has helped to enscribe all of the Chantments onto large pieces of granite, keeping the Chantments safe forever more and to ensure that no Chantment is lost ever again.

I heard the pitter patter of little feet and closed my eyes. Pretending to be asleep once more as our children entered our bed chambers and took a running leap up onto the bed. "Mum, Dad, time to wake up!" Our twins shouted in unison. "First day of school" our daughter Mica shouted while her brother Halwi nodded in excitement. I sat up and lunged at my children, tickling the sides of their ribs as they squealed in excitement.

Darrow had woken up at this point, watching the game with amusement, begore growling out a low Chantment of Iron, causing the sheets on the bed to become like a rolling sea, twists and turns like the unforgiving ocean.

I looked over at Darrow after the excitement had died down and we lay exhausted on the top of the bedcovers. "Todays the day! The first day of our new Chanters College" I said excitedly to Darrow. Darrow looked at me and the children and said "You will be wonderful my love" holding my hand and kissing me on the cheek.

I stood up with a flourish and walked to my chest of drawers, removing the new robes I had acquired in Gellen for this new adventure. The robes shimmered like moonlight as the cloth moved, a tribute to my goddess whom I still worshipped after all these years.

I washed with a bowl of water I warmed with a quick fire Chantment, the words bursting from my throat in a low rumble. I tied my hair into my customary long plait hanging down from my head, before twisting the plait around into a bun and securing them in place using my old Antaris hair pins.

I was ready for this new challenge. I made my way downstairs, noting that Darrow and the children had already left the bedchambers, likely heading into the kitchen for some breakfast. Keela moved around the kitchen, serving up the delicious eggs she had roasted over the fireplace. Keela and Tonno returned to Ravemy after the events of Antaris, to help prepare the small island for the changes taking place. They aquired a small house for themselves and were married soon after. They have one son, Xanni who is a spitting image of his namesake. Xanni is 8 years old, whereas our twins are 6 years old, however no age difference could stop the connection forged when we arrived home. They are the best of friends, getting into all kinds of mischief together, however looking out for each other in the same breath.

I greeted Tonno and Keela with a hug, before moving around the table to greet the other occupants. Trout was sitting at the table, looking over his plans for the lights in the Chanters College. Trout was still nervous about his work, even after he tested it multiple times over the course of the year building the College. Trout still looked the same, only with slightly different glassed that kept falling to the edge of his nose as he examined the plans. "I am sure nothing will go wrong today Trout. You did a magnificent job with the lights and I am sure everything will be fine" I muttered to him, as I pressed a hug into his half sitting form. "Thanks Cal, I am just a bit nervous" Trout exclaimed.

Poor Trout, he never really got over Micas (the former) death all those years ago in Antaris. Throwing himself into his work more and more over the past 10 years to try ang forget his pain.

I continued my walk around the table, greeting my brother next in line. "Good morning my brother" I said to Halasaa. "Good morning my sister" Halasaa replied in his low dulcet voice. On occasion, we still commune though our minds, however we have been encouraging Halasaa to use his voice in preparation for his teaching position at the College.

All of our friends will be Chanters College teachers, spreading their gifts and knowledge with the new generation with whom we have opened our doors. Halasaa will be teaching the Power of the Becoming, Darrow will be teaching the Power of Iron, Tonnno will be teaching how to craft fishing boats and lines, Fresca will be teaching the Power of Winds, Keela will be teaching how to bake and cook, Trout will be teaching his knowledge of mechanics and I will be teaching the Power of Ice. We have acquired a teacher for the Power of Fire Alexius, whom we encountered in Mithates being scared and repressive of his gifts, we encouraged him to join us at the College where he would be free to teach and use his gifts without repercussion. We only planned to accommodate these lessons in the beginning, waiting until the Chanters College grows in number before adding any additional teachers of subjects.

We heard the wind chiming for the College bell, indicating that it was time to head to the College to begin the days lessons. This was the beginning of the end.
