Jennifer Baratta - Thank you!
"Alex? Thank Rao." Kara said as Alex opened her eyes.
"Kar?" Alex asked confused trying to get up.
"Easy." Hamilton said. "You took a nasty blow to the head."
"I did?" Alex asked feeling disorientated.
"You don't remember?" Kara asked frowning before looking to Hamilton. "Is that normal?"
"A little confusion is expected. The blast knocked her out cold." Hamilton explained as Alex tried to remember what happened.
"I'm okay." Alex tried to assure Kara. "I just need rest." She added sitting up.
"What are you doing?" Kara asked.
"Going home to get some rest." Alex said.
"Not alone you're not. You need to be monitored." Hamilton said.
"And I will be."
"By who?" Hamilton asked frowning before saying. "Not wanting to sound insensitive, but did you forget you live alone?"
"I-" Alex started only for Kara to jump in.
"Alex can come back with me." Kara said. "I'll look after her."
"Okay. I will take you through the concussion protocols." Hamilton replied.

"What happened?" Adam asked as Kara led Alex into the lounge.
"Concussion." Kara explained.
"If you were a footballer you'd have been permanently benched by now." Adam pointed out as Alex sat on the couch.
"What do you mean?" Kara asked.
"The number of concussions that she has had, even the NFL wouldn't risk it."
"Really?" Kara asked frowning.
"Great, now you have worried Kara." Alex shot back.
"With good reason." Adam countered.
"I'm fine." Alex said.
"No you're not. You're lying." Elle said sounding upset.
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are. Your heart just started racing." Elle argued. "That shows you are lying."
"How exactly do you know that?" Adam asked.
"Ummm. I read it."
"Your heart is racing. You're lying." Kara said, mirroring her daughter's words.
"Is it Grandma Cat or Lena who is using you as a lie detector?" Adam asked.
"I can't say." Elle said after a pause.
"Can't or won't?" Adam asked.
"Yes." Elle agreed confusing Adam for a moment.
"You know J'onn can read minds. I bet your head is human enough let his powers work." Adam argued.
"You need to look after Alex. She's not okay." Elle said trying to divert attention away from her.
"We will come back to you." Adam warned.
"Or you can worry about Elle and the fact she has finally managed to teach Kara to be distrusting." Alex suggested.
"Right now we are worrying about you." Kara said.
"I'm fine."
"No you're not." Both Elle and Kara said.
"This is going to be a long night." Alex grumbled.
-00-
"You need to be woken every hour. Fortunately Wil is preconditioned to do that." Kara said that evening as she helped Alex sit on the bed.
"Kara, I'm okay." Alex said.
"No you aren't. You have to take better care of yourself." Kara said.
"I am. If I hadn't done what I did my team would have died. You would have done the same, with or without powers." Alex argued.
"Just please be careful. I can't lose you."
"I'm not going anywhere." Alex assured her. "I promise."
"Okay." Kara said. "Can I get you anything?"
"No. I'm fine."
"I'll see you in an hour."
"There's no need." Alex replied.
"Yes there is. See you in an hour." Kara said leaving the room.

As Alex sat on the bed playing on her phone she saw the door slowly open before her niece stepped inside.
"Elle? What's wrong?"
"It's been an hour." She said walking towards Alex.
"Yes it has, but you should be asleep." Alex said checking her watch.
"I can't sleep. Maybe you could read me a story?" Elle suggested. "To prove you are okay."
"Come here." Alex said patting the bed next to her. In response Elle scrambled up onto the bed and handed Alex a book shortly before Krypto jumped up and lay with a head on Elle's legs.
Wrapping an arm round Elle Alex said.
"It's not your job to worry about me."
"I want to." Elle said snuggling into Alex.
"I know. But you shouldn't worry about anything." Alex said before she opened the book and started to read the story. Within two pages Elle was fast asleep. Putting the book down she looked down at Krypto and said.
"I'm pretty sure you are not allowed on here." In response Krypto yawned and shut his eyes, letting Alex go back to thinking.
-00-
"Time for- why is Elle here?" Kara asked entering the room.
"It had been an hour and she was worried. She even made me read a bedtime story to prove I was okay. Which clearly I am as she has fallen to sleep."
"I'm still waking you every hour. You are too important to risk anything." Kara said. "Did Elle say anything when she came in?"
"Just that she was doing the check and I should read her a story to prove I was okay." Alex explained. "Why? Is something wrong?"
"Her powers are still playing up and I know it is really worrying her." Kara said.
"She didn't say anything about it." Alex said.
"I wish I could help her." Kara said sadly before approaching Elle.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm taking her back to her room."
"You can leave her here. I'll keep an eye on her and talk to her about powers if she wakes up." Alex said.
"You sure?" Kara asked.
"I'm sure."
"Okay, I'll be back in an hour." Kara replied.

"Morning all." Lena said entering the house.
"Hey Lena." Kara called before pulling a face and saying. "Oh."
"You forgot I was coming?" Lena guessed. "That I get, but I am a little hurt Elle forgot."
"It's not she forgot. She just isn't up yet."
"Is she okay?" Lena asked.
"She didn't sleep much last night. She was on concussion check."
"Who has concussion?" Lena asked before seeing Alex. "Actually no need to answer that, I've figured it out."
"I don't have a concussion. I'm fine." Alex said.
"Lena. Just the person." Adam said entering the kitchen.
"Adam. What can I do for you?"
"Could you explain why Elle knows she can figure out if people are lying from listening to heart beats?"
"I was teaching her life skills. Knowing when someone is lying is important." Lena said.
"Not for a seven year old." Adam said.
"I disagree, it is never too early to learn life skills."
"Yet you hid it from us." Adam pressed.
"Elle is extremely intelligent and highly advanced." Lena said.
"Which doesn't mean you can exploit her."
"I didn't exploit her." Lena said. "Education is not exploitation."
"So you didn't use her in board meetings to detect if someone was lying."
"Of course not. That would be a complete waste of her skills. Everyone on the board lies." Lena argued.
"That is not a reassuring answer." Adam protested.
"Are you done with this?" Alex asked.
"I hope so." Lena replied.
"Good. I need to borrow you." She said getting her coat.
"Where are you going?" Kara asked frustrated.
"I've got an errand to run. Lena is going to help me."
"But your head." Kara protested.
"Lena can keep an eye on me."
-00-
"So, do you want to fill me in on what is going on?" Lena asked as she pulled her car into a parking lot.
"Elle is struggling with her powers. I have an idea on how to help. But I don't have much spare money at the moment."
"So you want my credit card?" Lena asked.
"No. Well yes. But just a loan." Alex said getting out of the car.
"If it is for Elle I will spend whatever it takes." Lena said.
"Well you may not want to be associated with this idea." Alex said as they started walking towards the shops.
"Now I am intrigued." Lena said.
"You don't have long to wait for answers." Alex said stopping in front of a shop and pointing through the window.
"I disagree, I think you may be concussed." Lena said looking at what Alex was pointing at.
"Why?"
"Because I think you are suggesting getting Elle that."
"I am. It will really help her."
"And drive Kara and Adam insane. Oh wait, is that part of the plan?"
"I'm not a Luthor." Alex said entering the shop.
-00-
"Alex! Lena!" Elle greeted when she saw them entering the house. "Where have you been?"
"Out shopping." Alex said.
"For me?" Elle asked.
"As a matter of fact yes." Lena replied.
"Really? But it's not my birthday."
"This is to help with your powers." Alex said.
"What is it?"
"What's what?" Adam asked walking towards the group.
"Alex and Lena got me a present."
"They did?" Adam asked.
"We did. To help with her powers."
"Where is it?" Elle asked.
"It's in the car." Alex said. "We could use some help bringing it in."
"Bring what in?" Kara asked joining the group.
"Elle's present." Lena said.
"We have rules about gifts." Kara reminded her.
"It's more of a training tool to help with her powers." Alex explained.
"Okay." Kara said following them to Lena's car.
When Adam saw inside he said.
"You got Elle a drum kit?"
"Yes."
"Have we done something to upset you?" He asked.
"This is about Elle, it will help teach her control." Alex said.
"And wake Wil." Adam pointed out.
"Not with the sound dampening device." Alex said as Elle easily lifted the box from the car and carried it upstairs.
"It's a drum kit." Adam repeated still in disbelief.
"To help Elle." Alex reiterated.
"You either hate us or you are concussed." Adam said before turning to Lena. "Was this your idea?"
"All Alex." Lena said. "But it could be a good idea." She added before they heard a thumping.
"Does that sound like a good idea?" Adam asked moments before Wil started screaming.
"Is that the time? I should go." Lena said leaving Alex to face Kara and Adam alone.
"I'll go set up the sound dampener." Alex said.
