Jennifer Baratta - Thanks!
Guest - I don't see Kara killing as she is so against it (apart from when the writers forget). It would be a too big a change in character.
"Perhaps I should work from home today." Kara stated, not wanting to leave Elle and Wil.
"You need to go to work." Alex said.
"We will be fine here." Adam added. "The biggest danger we'll face is Winn's security system turning against us."
"Which he has assured me won't happen." Alex quickly pointed out. "So you can go to work, before you get fired."
"Or I could stay here-"
"Kara, go to work." Adam said. "We'll be fine."
"Are you sure?"
"We're sure." Adam said as Elle walked in.
"Do you want me to stay?" She asked Elle.
"No she doesn't." Adam said. "Go"
"Fine." Kara replied. "But call if you need anything."
"We will." Elle said hugging Kara.
"Love you." Kara said squeezing her tightly. "I'll see you later."
"How long until she's back?" Adam asked Alex.
"Wrong question." Alex said. "The right question is how long before she moves off the doorstep."
"You think she's waiting there?" Adam asked.
"I know she's waiting there." Elle pointed out. "I could activate the security system."
"It's not a toy." Kara said coming back into the house.
"Kara, go to work." Adam said.
"Fine." Kara said hugging Elle once more and leaving.
"What are you doing?" Alex asked noticing Adam typing on his phone.
"Calling in back up."

"Shouldn't you be working or have all standards slipped?" Cat asked as she walked onto the balcony where Kara was standing.
"Cat? What are you doing here?" Kara asked seeing her mentor.
"Adam said you were freaking out."
"I'm not freaking out."
"Yet you are standing here not working. Instead you are what? Using your hearing to listen to your family?"
"I want to make sure they are okay."
"You can't spy on them forever." Cat pointed out. "But something tells me there is more to this behaviour."
For a moment Kara didn't say anything. Instead she turned and looked out over the city. Finally she said.
"I keep thinking we were selfish."
"We?"
"Adam and I."
"In what way?"
"Having children. I mean Elle and Wil are going to have a target on their backs for ever." Kara said.
"I thought a crime family was behind their attempted abduction?" Cat asked.
"It was. This time. But it could have been Cadmus. Next time it probably will be." Kara said, the frown etched on her face.
"So what would you do? Move to Argo?"
"I have thought about it." Kara admitted.
"But?"
"Elle, has made her feelings about living on Argo very clear." Kara pointed out. "And there are my responsibilities here."
"You have sacrificed a lot for this planet. If you choose to prioritise your family, no one can hold that against you."
"Maybe, but in a way Maxwell Lord was right."
"This I have to hear." Cat said.
"He said that one of the biggest dangers I posed was making people become reliant on me. And they have. What happens if I just disappear?"
"May it is time human heroes step up." Cat suggested.
"You think we should go?" Kara asked.
"I see why it is tempting. Remember I gave up Adam because I convinced myself it was the best thing to do for him. And maybe it was. But that decision has always felt wrong, even back then part of me knew it was wrong. What is your instinct telling you?"
"Running away isn't the right option. But I just want them to be safe."
"What they need is to see the good this world has to offer. To do that they need you not to be consumed with fear. Elle is disturbingly perceptive and she will sense and feed off your fear. If that happens they win."
"I know, but I can't just bury my fears."
"Maybe, but maybe that isn't what you should be doing. Concentrate on what you are good at. Seeing the good and having hope."

"I'm home." Kara called as she walked through the front door that evening.
"Mom." Elle called happily as she ran and hugged her.
"Hey Sweetie, how are the patients?"
"Grumpy."
"Both of them?" Kara asked lifting Elle up.
"Yes. More grumpy than Sprout."
"That's pretty grumpy." Kara commented.
"And dad is insisting on vegetables."
"That sucks." Kara agreed. "But I thought that might happen so I got something for you." She added putting Elle down and handing her a paper bag.
Peering inside Elle saw the doughnut and her eyes lit up.
"Go eat it in the kitchen. I'll distract dad."
"Did you just give Elle a sticky bun?" Adam asked as Kara entered the lounge.
"No." Kara said.
"But you gave her something you shouldn't." Adam pressed.
"Elle was right, you are grumpy." Kara commented.
"I'm not grumpy. I just want our children to be healthy."
"They are." Kara pointed out before looking at Alex. "How are you doing?"
"I'm impressed you stayed at work all day."
"Well Cat came and talked to me." Kara explained as she moved over to Wil's play pen. "How has he been?"
"Surprisingly docile." Adam said. "I think Elle tired him out."
"How?"
"She's been playing with him all day."
"She has?" Kara asked surprised.
"Racing him against Krypto might be a better description. But he seemed to enjoy it." Alex explained as Elle walked in.
"So can I go back to school tomorrow?"
"Um." Kara said hesitantly before remembering Cat's words. "Sure."
"Really?" Elle asked.
"Really." Kara smiled. "Why don't you make sure you have everything you need?"
"Okay." Elle said disappearing.
"There is something very wrong with Elle if she is begging to go to school." Alex pointed out.
"Coming from the person who has been whining about not being at work all day?" Adam countered.
"I was not whining, just pointing out how stupid it was I couldn't sit at the DEO." Alex replied.
"You are a long way off going to work." Kara pointed out.
"So why the sudden change in attitude about Elle and school?" Adam asked.
"You think it was the wrong decision?" Kara asked frowning.
"No, which is why I have been suggesting she goes all week. I just thought you'd need more persuasion."
"Cat can be convincing." Kara said. "But that's not to say I won't worry about her all day." She then asked. "Are you hungry?"
"Are you cooking?" Alex asked looking worried.
"Of course not. Lena is coming by. She said she'll cook."
"I could cook." Adam said also hating feeling useless.
"With one hand? Besides you are meant to be resting." Kara said. "You are both really bad patients."
"Pot, kettle, black." Alex complained.
