Jennifer Baratta - Thanks!

Guest - Seeing Superman is about to get his own show I can't really see why Lex is being brought back to Supergirl rather than just teasing his arrival for the other show. Now is he is back and owns everything I can't really see what Lena's role is either. Technically she has just lost her empire to a brother she despises (assuming she remembers).

"I'm bored." Elle complained two weeks later.

"What do you want to do?" Alex asked sounding just as bored as her niece.

"Soccer?"

"Sorry kiddo, that's a bit beyond me."

"I know." Elle sighed. "I miss school."

"The break will be over soon." Adam pointed out.

"Yeah, next week. That's forever away." She complained as Wil started crying. "Especially with the noise."

"I tell you what." Alex said as Adam awkwardly lifted Wil into his arms. "Why don't we go have lunch with your mom?"

"Really?" Elle asked.

"That doesn't mean junk food for lunch." Adam warned.

"It kinda does." Alex shrugged. "I mean you know Kara."

"You could stop her." Adam countered.

"Stop Kara from eating junk? Ha! No. The only person who can do that is your mother."

"And Sprout." Elle pointed out before looking at her father. "So can I go?"

"Fine. But it is heathy food for dinner. Go get your coat."

"Thanks dad." Elle said running off. As she disappeared Adam turned to Alex and asked.

"Are you sure you are okay taking her?" Adam asked.

"I'm going stir crazy here. No offence."

"Plenty taken." Adam shot back.

"You going to be okay with Wil?"

"I have mastered the one handed diaper change." Adam replied as he continued to rock Wil.

"I'm ready." Elle said running back into the room.

"Let's go." Alex smiled.

-00-

"Should you be walking?" Elle asked as she walked with Alex, getting worried by how slowly her aunt was going.

"I'm fine." Alex said. "But if you prefer to go home and eat salad I can take you back."

"No." Elle said as she followed Alex into the CatCo elevator.

"Good." Alex said pressing the button.

"But are you sure you should be up?" Elle pressed.

"Have you become a doctor in the last few hours?" Alex asked.

"No."

"Then I'll make the decisions on where I should be." Alex said.

"You're more fun when you are not grumpy."

"I'm not grumpy." Alex said looking down at Elle, who stared back at her. "Fine, I may be a little grouchy." She conceded as they stepped out of the elevator.

Not seeing Kara they walked to James's office.

"Hey, have you seen Kara?" Alex started only to realise she didn't recognise the person in James's office.

"Sorry." The woman said turning moments before she found herself being hugged by Elle. "Hey Elle. Wow, you have grown." She commented before noticing Alex's confused look. "Sorry, I'm Kelly, James's sister. I'm guessing you're Alex?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Kara and Elle talk about you a lot." Kelly smiled. "But in answer to your earlier question, I don't know where Kara is. She and James ran off to a meeting about an hour ago. But James did say they'd be back soon. But then again James's definition of soon might not be the same as everyone else's." She paused and saw how pale Alex was looking and asked. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Alex said before Elle cut in.

"She was shot."

"Shot?" Kelly asked eyes wide.

"It was a few weeks ago." Alex said dismissively.

"Two weeks, five days. She was saving me." Elle said.

"Are you both okay?" Kelly asked frowning before apologetically looking at Alex. "Well obviously you're not, but I meant-"

"I'm fine." Alex said.

"That's what she always says, but mom-"

"Elle-" Alex growled.

"Sorry, do you want to sit?" Kelly offered worried that Alex was looking pale.

"Thanks." Alex said taking a seat.

"What about you? Are you okay?" Kelly asked Elle.

"I'm fine."

"It must have been pretty scary." Kelly said.

"It was." Elle said. "Especially when it was just me and Sprout. I thought he'd give away where we were hiding, but then he stopped crying and that was worse as I thought I had broken him. I didn't want to stay there, but dad said I had to stay hidden. So I did." Elle explained, surprising Alex at being so forthcoming. Before Alex or Kelly could say anything the door opened and Kara walked in.

"Elle? What are you doing here? Did I know you were coming?"

"Did you forget me?" Elle asked walking towards her mother.

"Um..." Kara said.

"She's messing with you, it was a last minute decision." Alex said.

"And when were you going to tell me that?" Kara asked looking down at Elle.

"After you had given me an apology hug."

"You could have just asked for a hug." Kara pointed out hugging Elle. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Lunch." Alex said.

"You are meant to be resting." Kara pointed out. "I'll run down and get some burgers."

"Can I come with you?" Elle asked.

"Sure." Kara smiled before looking at Kelly. "What would you like?"

"This is family lunch I don't want -"

"I insist. Also James isn't coming back." She added apologetically.

"He's not?"

"He's got to go to D.C." Kara explained. "He said he'd send you a message."

"I didn't get anyth- oh, there you go. He's not coming back." Kelly said looking at her phone.

"So what would you like?" Kara pressed.

"What's good?" Kelly asked still sounding unsure.

"The double cheese classic." Alex suggested.

"Then I'll have that." Kelly said.

"Great. Back soon." Kara said walking out with Elle.

After then had gone Kelly saw Alex was giving her a strange look.

"What?" She asked.

"How did you do that?" Alex asked.

"Do what?"

"Elle has refused to talk to anyone about what happened, but she just opened up to you."

"Occupational hazard." Kelly said.

"How do you mean?" Alex asked.

"I'm a therapist."

"Even so, that was pretty amazing." Alex said.

"I guess I just have a way with people." Kelly shrugged before asking. "What about you? How are you dealing with everything that happened?"

"Me? I'm fine. Just frustrated that I can't go back to work." Alex said deflecting.

"You know kids often follow the example of their role models." Kelly said. "Maybe if you didn't deflect so much Elle would open up more."

"I see the whole shrink thing now." Alex replied.

"I have to hand it to you, you are good at deflecting." Kelly countered.

"Natural talent." Alex smiled.

"So are you really meant to be up?" Kelly asked.

"As long as I take it easy. Which I thought coming here would be."

"But you misjudged?"

"It was more work than I thought." Alex conceded. "But don't tell Kara that."

"Your secret is safe with me."

"So how long are you in National City?" Alex asked.

"To be honest I don't know. I was offered a job here, but I didn't know how it would work being so close to James. I mean he came here for a fresh start. This visit was meant to be a test, but as James has gone to D.C. it's going to be hard to judge."

"What has James said about the job?"

"Nothing. I haven't told anyone. Except you."

"Don't worry I won't mention it to anyone." Alex assured her as Kara and Elle returned carrying several brown bags.

"Are you feeding the entire office?" Kelly asked.

"No. Just us." Kara replied as she set her bags down before relieving Elle of hers.

"There seems a lot of food there." Kelly pointed out.

"We're hungry and Alex needs to eat." Kara shrugged.

"It's like you want my arteries to clog." Alex said as Kara handed her some fries.

"You've been spending too much time with dad." Elle said in-between mouthfuls.

"You need to regain your strength or no Games' night." Kara said.

"I'm fine and I will also be fine for Games' night." Alex said before Kara looked at Kelly and added.

"You are welcome to join us and we need an extra player now James has dropped out."

"I wouldn't know anyone." Kelly replied.

"You know me. And Alex." Kara pressed. "It's at Lena's on Thursday."

"I don't know where that is." Kelly said.

"We'll pick you up. James's place is on the way anyway." Alex offered.

"Can I come too?" Elle asked.

"No." Kara said.

"But-"

"No buts. It is way past your bedtime. Besides you are having an evening with dad."

"Or Alex could stay with dad and I could go to games' night." Elle argued.

"Nice try, but no." Alex said.

"So what do you say?" Kara asked Kelly.

"By which she means she isn't taking no for an answer." Alex pointed out.

"Then, that sounds great." Kelly smiled.
