Hey y'all. Sorry for such a long time between updates. I've been a little busy lately. I'm gonna try to starting updating at least once a week. Hopefully my schedule allows me more time for writing. Here's more for you. As always, leave your comments. They're much appreciated. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 20: Welcome Home

Christina arrived home just in time for Jeza to get home from school and Robbie to get home from work. Her father had been taking time off time to take care of her mother but he decided he'd be going back the next day. He didn't want to use all of his sick days at once. Gloria was happy to see that her daughter was home but she fussed for a while about the small gash in her neck.

"No sea nada, mami" she said trying to calm her down.

"Podrias haber sido asesinada" she said. She hated the job her daughter did. She didn't understand why she couldn't be an accountant or a teacher. Something that didn't involve her risking her life every day.

"But I wasn't" she said simply. "Stop worrying. It's not good for you. I'm gonna go unpack". She grabbed her bags and went upstairs to her room. It didn't take her long to put all of her stuff away and settle in. it felt so good to be home, to be in her own space. She sat on her bed and thought about her relationship with Amanda, how it was going and how she wanted it to continue. Her phone started to ring in her pocket and she took it and looked at the caller id. It was Beth. She debated whether or not she wanted to answer. By the time she'd made her decision, her phone stopped ringing. "Probably for the best" she thought to herself. She heard her mother yell for her to come downstairs and suddenly regretted her decision to move out of Amanda's place. Then again it's not like she'd get much peace there either. She felt like Amanda was always under her, crowding her space. Sometimes it felt good to be so close to her but other times she felt claustrophobic and she just needed her space. Her mother yelled for her again so she got up from her bed with a heavy sigh and went back downstairs. "Yes, mami" she answered standing at the bottom of the stairs.

"Come sit" she said patting the couch cushion next to her. "We need to talk. Es importante". Chris stepped off the stairs and walked into the living room.

"¿Qué es?" she asked sitting next to her mother on the couch.

"Quiero que vengas a misa conmigo esta noche. I talked to Father Preston and he's willing to talk to you" she said sincerely.

"Mami" she said annoyed, "I'm not going to mass and I'm not talking to Father Preston".

"But it's important, mija. How long it has it been since you've been to confession?" she asked.

"Gloria, leave the girl alone" her father said from the dining room table. "She doesn't have anything to confess. She hasn't done anything wrong".

"Hush Roberto" she said sternly, "Let her decide".

"She already did. You're just refusing to listen" he said back. She gave him a hard glare before turning back to her daughter.

"Listen mija, it's been a long time since we went to mass together as a family. Demasiado tiempo. It'll be good for us".

"I don't wanna go to church mami" she said declining her offer again. "Anyway, I invited Amanda over for dinner tonight?" Gloria scrunched her nose at her.

"Amanda? Quien es Amanda?" she asked. Chris knew she hadn't forgotten who Amanda was. She was just trying to be difficult as always.

"Mami" she said impatiently, letting her know she wasn't fooled by her acting ignorant. Gloria looked displeased with her but it was a look that she'd gotten used to over the years.

"Christina, venir aqui" her father called for her. He pulled out a chair for her to sit down next to him at the dining room table. "Look all these over for me" he said pushing a bunch of bills and a notebook in front of her. "Make sure I haven't made any mistakes". He'd added up all their bills for the house and the cars plus bills for her mother's most recent stay in the hospital and calculated the most they could pay a month to pay off the debt in the least amount of time. Jeza sat at the table across from her doing her homework. It surprised her that she'd come right in from school and sat down to do it without a fuss. She wondered how long this good behavior would last.

"Yeah, papa. It looks good" she said giving him back all the papers. "I'll try to get extra shifts when I can, you know, to speed things along". They'd been having problems since her first undercover stint. The medical bills piled up, they'd gotten behind on the mortgage, and barely kept up with their car payments, not to mention all the money Chris forked over to drug dealers to keep Jeza out of trouble. Her salary as a detective and her father and brother's salaries as freelance construction workers wasn't exactly bringing the big bucks. And Roberto Sr. hadn't been able to work for almost seven months after his heart attack. Needless to say, they were really struggling. When Jeza's problem got so out of hand that she couldn't keep them under wraps anymore, Chris made the executive decision that they move to New York. She was paying the majority of the bills and basically raising Jezalyn herself by that point so her parents didn't put up any arguments. She hoped that they'd get their money situation under control quickly and that Jeza kept out of trouble so she didn't have to stress so much anymore. She got up from the table and started to go to the kitchen to decide what they were going to have for dinner.

"Chris" Jeza said stopping her from leaving the dining room. "Can I have my phone back now?" she asked.

"No" she said, "You're still grounded".

"What?" she asked in disbelief. "That's not fair. I've been going to school and doing my homework. I've come right home every day like you said" she whined.

"Good" she said simply, "That's what you're supposed to do. You shouldn't need an incentive. You're grounded until I say otherwise and that means no phone". Jeza groaned and pouted in frustration. She didn't know how much longer she'd be able to put up with this punishment but she didn't want to find out what Chris had up her sleeve if she continued to act out. Christina ignored her sister's grumbling and continued into the kitchen to get dinner started.

"Listen to your sister Esme" Robbie Sr. said looking across the table to his youngest child. "She wants what's best for you. The sooner you figure that out, the better off you'll be". Jeza pretended not to pay him any attention and continued doing her homework. Chris looked in the refrigerator and tried to decide on what they should have for dinner. She heard her phone ringing and reached for it in her back pocket only to find that it wasn't there. She heard her mother call for her to come answer her phone and figured it must've come out of her pocket while she was sitting down to talk with her mother. She told her to go ahead and answer for her and continued to skim over the food in their frig.

"Come here mija" Gloria yelled, calling for Chris from the living room. Chris closed the frig and went back to the living room. She walked in expecting to take her phone from her mother but she'd already hung up with whoever called.

"Honey that was Nicholas. I've invited him and your friends over for dinner so I want you and Esme…"

"Mami" she whined, "Why did you do that?" she asked annoyed.

"They're your friends and they protect you. I want to meet them and thank them for keeping you safe. No discutas mija. I've already invited them". Chris groaned and rolled her eyes. The last thing she wanted to do was cook a big dinner for all of her colleagues. She was definitely wishing she'd stayed at Amanda's now. "So I want you and Esme to prepare all of the good foods. Como hogar en Colombia". Chris stood there and stared at her mother, clearly displeased. "Go, Christina. They'll be here at seven". She groaned again and turned to head back into the kitchen. Jeza sat the table doing her homework as if she hadn't heard her mother say she wanted her to help her sister with dinner.

"Jezalyn Esmeralda" Gloria said getting her younger daughter's attention, "Go help your sister with dinner".

"I'm not done with my homework" she said clearing annoyed. She didn't want to have a big dinner either. Chris came back into the living room.

"It's fine. Let her finish. I'll start without her" she said grabbing her phone from sitting on the couch next to her mother. She went back to the kitchen and started to take out the food she'd be cooking for dinner. She'd been home to Colombia three times in her life. Once when she was five for her grandmother's funeral, again when she was twelve for her grandfather's funeral and a third time when she was fifteen for her Quinceanera. She knew traditional Colombian cuisine like the back of her hand. The only thing she wouldn't cook was the meat. She'd leave that for Jeza to do once she was done with her homework. She dialed Amanda's number but her phone went straight to voicemail. "Hey. Give me a call back when you get this. It's about dinner". She hung up and set the phone on the counter then started taking out all the pots and pans she'd need to make dinner. Once Jeza had finished all her homework, she took her books upstairs and came back down to help Chris with dinner. "Robbie!" Chris yelled for her brother. He came bounding down the stairs and over to the kitchen.

"What?"

"Add the extra section to the table and then put the dishes and place mats out" she instructed.

"You do know that I'm older than you right?" he asked. Chris glared at him from inside the hot kitchen. She was in no mood for his games. Their father came up behind him and slapped him on the back of the head.

"Do what she said Roberto. Stop being difficult" he chastised. Robbie rubbed his head and went to get the extra section of the table they only used for big dinners. Gloria and Robbie Sr. went upstairs to get ready for dinner while their kids finished getting dinner and the house ready. Chris' phone started to ring on the counter and she answered without checking the caller id.

"Hey babe" she said putting the phone between her ear and shoulder so she could continue cooking.

"Hello" she heard from the other end of the phone from a voice that sounded nothing like Amanda. She looked at her phone and saw that it was Beth that had just called. She sighed and mentally kicked herself for not looking before she answered.

"Hey Beth. I'm sorry. I thought you were Amanda calling" she said hiding that she didn't want to talk to her behind a pleasant tone.

"Oh it's ok" she said nicely. "I was calling to see about that dinner that we're supposed to have".

"Oh, right. The dinner. I'll have to talk to Amanda about it. Did you have a specific day in mind?" she asked.

"Well, I was thinking tonight" she suggested.

"Oh we can't tonight. We're having dinner at my parent's house. Maybe we can do it sometime this week".

"Yeah, ok. I haven't started at the gallery yet so I'm sure I'll be free whenever you are".

"Ok. Well my schedule is a little unpredictable but we'll figure something out". She told her she needed to get off the phone and back to finishing up dinner. She said goodbye and quickly hung up the phone. She turned all the knobs on the stove down to the lowest setting so nothing would be overcooked. The doorbell rang and she went over to answer. She opened the door to Amanda standing there with one of the extra cakes Chris baked when they were undercover. "Hey" she said. Strangely for her, she'd missed Amanda in the short time they'd been apart that day.

"Hey" she said stepping into the house. Chris took the cake from her and kissed her on the lips. They parted when they heard Jeza coming down the stairs.

"Better not let mom see you doing that" she said stopping at the bottom of the stairs. Chris ignored her and took Amanda by the hand, leading her into the kitchen to set the cake down on the counter.

"These people are driving me crazy" she said, "It hasn't even been a whole day yet. Did you get my message?"

"Yeah but I was already on my way so…" she trailed off.

"My mother invited everyone to dinner" she informed her.

"Everyone as in…"

"Everyone. Liv and Brian, Nick, Fin, the Captain, even Barba. She invited everyone". The doorbell rang again and Chris let out a long sigh. She let go of Amanda's hand and went to answer the door but Robbie beat her to it. He opened the door to see Nick standing there.

"Who are you?" he asked rudely. She walked up behind him and slapped him on the back of his head like their father always did. "What the…" His hand came up to rub his head and he turned to see that it was Chris who slapped him. He glared at her then turned to go set up tables outside.

"Come on in Nick" she said nicely. He stepped into the house and Chris directed him to the living room. Amanda came from the kitchen and joined him on the couch. Just as Chris was about to close the door, she saw Olivia and Brian walking up to the house. Fin, Cragen and Barba followed not far behind them. She welcomed them inside and they all settled down in the living room. Jeza came back downstairs to see everyone sitting in the living room. She stared for a minute before turning and going outside to the backyard with her brother. "Ignore her. She's….a teenager" Chris said. She went over to the stairs and yelled for her parents to come down.

"Ay Christina, don't yell" her mother said as she came down the stairs. She waited until her father had joined them to make all the introductions so she wouldn't have to do it more than once. "I'm so glad all of you could come" Gloria said with a smile.

"Thank you for inviting us, senora" Nick said. Chris cursed in her head when he called her mother "senora" because she knew what was coming.

"Christina, he's handsome and he speaks Spanish" she whispered to her still loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Ok, why don't we move to the dinner table" she said ignoring her mother's comment.

"Oh, no mija. We're eating outside" Gloria said.

"Por que?" Chris asked obviously not in favor of the idea.

"Because there's not enough room for everyone in here".

"Yes, there is. There's plenty of room".

"No, there isn't. I invited more of your friends" she said nonchalantly.

"Mami, I don't have any other friends". Robbie Sr. just stood there quietly, deciding to let his wife and daughter hash this out themselves.

"Of course you do. Laura, Alexis, Helena, Ricardo" she said starting to name off people she'd invited.

"Oh my god mother". Chris was so annoyed she didn't know what to do with herself.

"It'll be fun. It's a celebration, mija. Tu regreso seguro a casa" she said happily. She didn't wait for Chris to say anything else. She knew all she would hear were her objections to the party. She went out through the kitchen to the backyard where Robbie and Jeza were setting up tables and chairs. Chris' father kissed her on the head and told her to relax before going to join his wife and two other children outside.

"Just…kill me now" she said getting a laugh from her coworkers. The doorbell rang again and she opened it to see some of the people she'd met in her short time in New York. They all filed in and did their own introductions with the guests already in the living room and Chris directed them all to the backyard. Amanda stuck around in the house to help Chris however she could. The bell rang yet again and Chris wondered just how many people her mother had invited. They hadn't been in New York long enough for her to have met that many people. She opened the door and it was some friends of her brother's from work. Ricardo, in particular, had a crush on Chris and wasn't shy about showing it. She was sure that was why her mother had invited him. He was a nice guy from what Chris could tell but she wasn't interested in men and he was well aware of that. He didn't seem to care though because he never stopped trying to convince her to go on a date with him.

She was polite to everyone and directed them to the backyard. Ricky tried to hang out in the house to talk to her but Robbie came inside and told him to get away from his sister. Even though they were pretty good friends, Robbie shut down any flirting he saw going on with his sisters in his presence. They'd set up all the food outside and Jeza brought her radio down from her room so they could have music. Chris went into the house to get the cake Amanda brought when the bell rang yet again. She groaned and went to open the door to find someone she'd least expected on the other side.

"Ryanne" she said surprised, "What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Your mother invited me" she said. Chris looked at her confused.

"How do you know my mother?"

"I don't but she called me and said there was a party for you and that I should come. So here I am". Chris didn't know how her mother had gotten Ryanne's number but she was the last person she would've wanted her to invite. "Aren't you gonna invite me in?" she asked. Chris sighed and stepped out of the way for Ryanne to walk in past her. She shut the door, went back to the kitchen to get the cake then led her out to the backyard. She put the cake on the table with all the other food when she noticed that Ryanne was still next to her.

"Feel free to mingle" she said trying to be polite. She started to walk over to where Amanda was sitting but Ry grabbed her arm to stop her.

"I was hoping I could mingle with you" she said in a flirtatious tone.

"Ryanne, we've talked about this" Chris said pulling out of her grip.

"I know you said you don't wanna date and I've accepted that. So I'll settle for a hook up every now and then".

"No Ryanne" she said firmly. "What happened between us, maybe before could've been a regular thing but not now".

"Why?"

"Because…I'm with someone now" she said folding her arms over her chest.

"I thought you said you didn't want to date anyone?" she asked angrily.

"No, I said I didn't want to date you" she corrected. "Listen, this isn't up for discussion. I'm with someone and that's it. And even if I weren't with anyone, I still wouldn't want to date you, Ryanne" she said honestly.

"Why not?"

"Because….I slept with you one time and you became this jealous stalker. I'm not interested in finding out what you're like in a relationship" she said bluntly. She wasn't trying to be rude but Ryanne didn't seem to get things unless they were stated to her clearly.

"Fine" she said noticeably displeased with her opinion. "You know you're kind of a bitch". Chris nodded her head.

"Yeah. I do". She turned and walked over to Amanda and everyone else she worked with. They'd picked a table in the middle and had already gotten their food and started eating. She sat down next to her girlfriend who had a look of curiosity on her face. "What?" Chris asked, seeing how Amanda was looking at her.

"You invited her?" she asked with a hint of jealousy.

"No. My mother did" she said annoyed.

"Why?" Chris reached over and stole a piece of one of her empanadas and shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know. I don't why she invited any of these people". Gloria came over to them and sat a plate in front of Chris.

"You need to eat, mija" she said.

"There's chicken on this plate" she said looking up at her mother. Gloria nodded her head. "You know I don't eat chicken". Robbie came over to the table and sat down across from Chris.

"I'll take it" he said pulling the plate across the table in front of him. He quickly picked up the fork and started eating.

"That was for your sister" Gloria said chastising him.

"She didn't want it" he said taking a pause from stuffing his face.

"I can get my own food ma".

"Fine" Gloria said giving up on trying to take care of her daughter. "Why don't you go talk to Ricky? He's been staring at you since he got here".

"No, mom" Chris said firmly. "Stop trying to fix me up".

"I already talked to him about that staring" Robbie said, "I'm gonna punch him in the face". Chris laughed but Gloria didn't think it was funny.

"Usted hara tal cosa no" Gloria said seriously. She turned back to her daughter, "Don't dismiss him, Christina. He's very nice. He has a good job y es muy guapo".

"He better stay away from her" Robbie said, obviously opposed to the idea of him with his sister.

"Oh, hush Roberto" Gloria said waving him off. She went over to sit next to her husband to eat.

"And you" Robbie said pointing at Amanda, "you better watch yourself" he warned her.

"No" Chris said, "You better watch yourself" she warned him. Chris told Robbie time and time again that she wasn't at all interested in any of friends but if she ever were, he would have no say in who she dated. He never seemed to get the memo and continued to stick his nose in her business. She was perfectly capable of saying no to someone she wasn't interested in but he always took the initiative and did it for her. Now that she was with Amanda, she didn't want him being the overbearing, overprotective big brother she knew him to be. He always tried to intimidate anyone he thought was interested in his sisters into being disinterested. Even though she wasn't worried about it working with Amanda, she didn't want him trying.

Olivia saw how cozy the two of them seemed together and knew they'd need to have a talk with the captain about their relationship. She knew all too well how wrong things could go on the streets if the detectives working together were too emotionally involved. It would be the Captain's call but Olivia would definitely be giving her opinion on the matter. They ate and small talked and enjoyed the Colombian music coming from Jezalyn's stereo. Chris was less annoyed that her mother had decided to have this party now that it was happening and she was enjoying herself. The back door opened and a tall, handsome, dark haired man with caramel colored skin stepped into the backyard. Gloria and Robbie Sr. greeted him with smiles on their faces. Even Chris' brother and sister seemed happy to see him. Chris looked over and her face immediately lit up when she saw who it was. She got up from her chair and walked over to him.

"¿qué pasa?" she asked happily. She stood in front of him with her weight to one side and her hands in her back pockets.

"Nada nuevo" he said mirroring her form. Each of them was waiting for the other to break. Chris knew he would be the one to do it. He always was. "Déme cierto amor mamacita" he said pulling his hands out his pockets and opening his arms to her. She walked into his embrace and wrapped her arms around him. They held on to each other for a moment, taking in each other's familiar scents, before pulling away.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she asked.

"I heard you were undercover again. Had to come out and check on you". He brought his hand up to turn her head and look at the bandage on her neck.

"It's just a small cut. I'm fine" she said pushing his hand away.

"Yeah well if I'd been here to have your back you wouldn't even have that".

"Usted no sabes que". He nodded his head.

"Yeah I do" he said confidently. "Who are these incompetents they have watching your back anyway. They here?"

"Franco, behave yourself" she warned him. He took her face in her hands and looked her in the eyes.

"You look good, kid". He let go of her face and put his arm around her shoulder. She put her arm around his waist and they walked together to an empty table. "So, how's this place treating you?" he asked.

"Oh, you know. Same as any other place" she said. He let his arm down from her shoulder and sat down at the table. She pulled out a chair and sat down across from him. "This house is nice. Nicer than what we had in Cali".

"Good" he said nodding his head. "And your mom? I heard she spent some time in the hospital recently".

"Really? You heard from who exactly?" she asked curiously. He always seemed to know what was going on with her.

"I have sources" he said as vague as always.

"She's good. She's getting better every day".

"And your sister? She still causing you trouble?" he asked.

"Yeah. You know Jeza. She's all about challenging authority every chance she gets".

"Sounds like someone else I know" he said looking her right in the eyes.

Amanda looked over her shoulder and saw them sitting at a table away from everyone. She didn't know who he was but he seemed to be a good friend to Chris' family and to Chris. She knew it shouldn't bother her with Christina being a lesbian and all but it did. She hadn't even introduced him to her. She turned back around and focused on the conversation happening at her own table. Meanwhile, Chris was dealing with her own conversation which was taking a turn that was all too familiar to her.

"You seeing anyone new?" he asked. Chris sighed and looked down at the table. She and Franco had a complicated relationship. Sometimes he felt like her big brother and other times he felt like her husband. He was the only man she could ever see herself with.

"Maybe" she said piquing his curiosity.

"Is that a "yeah but I don't wanna tell you" maybe or a "you know, a few people" maybe?" Chris had always told him that she didn't do relationships. He always told her she just hadn't met the right person to do a relationship with.

"Yeah, I'm seeing someone" she said. He nodded his head and looked around the backyard.

"So who is the lucky lady?" he asked. He tried to guess just by looking at the women around them but Chris had been with so many different women in the time he'd known her that his guess wouldn't have been based on anything.

"Her name's Amanda. She's the blonde I was sitting to when you came out".

"Supongo no noté nadie…excepto usted" he said in his smooth Puerto Rican accent. He was very charming and he had a way with the ladies. He didn't have any problems getting whatever girl he wanted until he met Christina. He smooth talked his way into the bed of almost every rookie that came into their precinct. All the guys joked that he'd finally met his match, and he had. Chris was him in every way apart from her being a woman. She had a way with the ladies as well and hadn't met one yet that she wanted and didn't get.

"Stop it" she said knowing what he was trying to do.

"Stop what?" he asked, playing innocent. She gave him a knowing look. "Alright, fine. So can I meet her?" he asked. Chris looked at him suspiciously, wondering what he had up his sleeve. "No agenda. I promise". Chris got up and walked over to the table with all of her colleagues and her girlfriend. Franco followed close behind her.

"Hey guys" she said getting everyone's attention, "This is Franco Alvarez. He was my handler when was undercover in Cali". She went down the line introducing everyone, saving Amanda for last. He looked her over and decided she was attractive. Her accent wasn't bad either. Chris saw the way he was looking at her and punched him in the arm. Her mother called for her to come inside the house so she excused herself to go see what she wanted. Once she'd gone inside, Franco took her seat at the table and engaged in conversation with her colleagues. He focused mostly on Amanda, though, trying to assess how serious things were between her and Christina. Amanda thought he was nice and funny. If he was a friend of Christina's then she wanted to try to get to know him better. She sensed that he was trying to flirt with her and she was trying to make it clear that their interaction was nothing more than friendly. She wasn't sure that he was getting the message. Fin noticed that Franco was getting a little too comfortable with Amanda. When Franco got up from the table to go get a drink, Fin took the opportunity to go over and talk to him. He started with small talk about how it was working with Chris and how their undercover op had gone before sliding into talking about her and Amanda.

"Did she tell you that they're together?" he asked.

"Uhh, yeah. Yeah, she told me" he said getting the feeling that he was about hear something he didn't like.

"Ok, cool. I was just making sure, you know. Wouldn't want anybody to get the wrong idea about you". Fin was hoping that things wouldn't have to get ugly for him to get his point across but he'd do what he had to do to protect his partner and friend.

"What idea would that be?" he asked.

"That you're a player trying to one-up your friend by trying to steal her girlfriend" he said without missing a beat.

"Nah, definitely wouldn't want anyone thinking that" he said taking a sip of the beer he'd just opened. Fin shook his head and went back over to the table with everyone else.

The evening went on with more talking, laughter and music. Their guests started to say their goodbyes at around nine thirty in the evening. By eleven, the only people still at the house were Amanda, Fin, Nick, Olivia and Brian. They'd helped clean up everything outside and moved inside to lounge in the living room. Chris' parents and her sister had gone to bed and her brother had gone out for drinks with his friends. They decided it was time to call it a night. They all had to get to work bright and early the next day. When Chris walked them outside, Fin pulled her to the side to have a chat with her.

"How close are you to that Franco guy?" he asked. She shrugged her shoulders.

"We're…pretty good friends" she said. "He's my best friend, actually". They stopped next to his car and she folded her arms over her chest. "Why do you ask?"

"He was kinda, you know…trying to put the moves on Amanda when you weren't around". Chris laughed at the thought of Franco doing his stupid competition thing with her again.

"That's just Franco. He's really nothing I'm worried about" she said shrugging it off. "But thanks for lookin' out for us".

"No problem". He opened the door and got in his car. Chris walked back over to Amanda to escort her to her truck.

"What was that about?"

"Oh, he was just….checking in" she said, opening the driver side door for her. Amanda climbed into the driver seat and Chris closed the door for her. Amanda started her truck and let down her window.

"So, I'll see you in the morning?" she asked. She wanted to ask Chris to come spend the night with her but they'd talked about slowing things down. She figured she should let her get a few nights of sleep in her own bed before asking her back to her apartment again.

"Yes, you will". She leaned into the window and kissed her on the lips. "Drive safe. Say hi to Frannie for me". She kissed her again then walked around the truck to stand on the sidewalk. She waited for Amanda's truck to disappear around the corner before going into her house and locking the door. She went upstairs to the bathroom to shower, brush her teeth and wash her face then went to her bedroom and got dressed for bed. She put her phone on the bedside table then got under her covers and settled down to sleep. Just as she was drifting off, her phone chimed on the table beside her. She reached over and unlocked it to see a text from Franco. It read: So the "girlfriend". What's your bet? She rolled her eyes and put the phone back on the table then turned over and went to sleep.
