Chapter 11 Fortune Cup (Part 1)
The Duel Stadium was filled with Neo Domino citizens, all eager for the big tournament being held today: The Fortune Cup! A announcer soon stood in the center of the arena, raising his hand to the air, "Ladies and gentleman! Welcome to the Neo Domino Fortune Cup! We have contenders from all over eager for a chance at the ultimate prize!" He shouted, riling the audience up as a door to the side of the stadium opened, the contestants filing out from their rooms onto the field.
Leo and Rua looked around at the crowd, a bit of nervousness in their expressions. Leo's had a bit more excitement behind it than his brother, while Yusei was calm as he usually was, looking around and noticing Carly, Tenzen and Bolt in the crowd.
Their attention was soon cut off as the crowd soon booed the trio, "Hey! What are Satellite trash doing here!" A woman shouted, "Hey, those boys are trying to imitate Lady Luna and Ruka!" The boys shrunk a little, Yusei starting to growl and lose his composure at the comments to the twins. "Bet they are trying to weasel their way into the inheritance...' A couple seethed, Luna and Ruka seeming confused as they looked around.
"What are they talking about? Imitators?" Ruka said, Luna shrugging as they couldn't see the boys. "But, Satellites?" She wondered, confused how Satellites even were allowed into Neo Domino, let alone invited to the Fortune Cup.
Soon the whole crowd was in a uproar, shouting at the three to return to the dumps. "I don't like this anymore Yusei..." Rua said, his brother nodding before a tall imposing man stepped up, somehow holding a microphone, "That's enough!"
The crowd grew quiet as the man stood proud with the announcer's mic, "My name is Greiger, I know things are different in this city, but where I come from you judge people by their spirit." Greiger said.
Greiger points at the trio, Ruka blinking as she stared at the boys, 'They look like... us?'
"Your people may have branded them once as no goods, but when I look at them, all I see are Duelists. Being a Duelist myself, that means I have to respect them until they give me a reason not to. Because a Duelist can't judge another Duelist based on from where he's from or who his family is nor how much money he has. That isn't what really matters." Greiger said. The crowd remained silent, people looking at one another in confusion before Rex stood up and begun to clap. Soon the whole stadium followed, the boys relaxing a bit.
"He has a way with words..." Leo said, Rua nodding before he looked at Rex, "Don't think he expected us to be here." Yusei nods, "I think Jack doesn't care."
Speaking of, the announcer continues, "Any who, our contestants will be competing for the chance to win the title from the current champ, Jack Atlas!" At this Jack came out on his duel runner, his Red Dragon Archfiend roaring above his head, the arena in uproar as he held his hand into the air, "Time to kick this tournament into overdrive!" The crowd chanted Jack's name.
He looked at the contestants as he made a show or circling them in his runner, "Show me who has what it takes to take on the champ!" He said as he specifically looked at Yusei and the boys, soon driving off. "Show off." Yusei said, watching Jack ride away before the announcer spoke, "Now folks, let's see who shall face who in the first round!" He shouted, pointing at the screen with the images of the contestants flashing randomly.
(With Goodwin...)
Goodwin chuckled as he watched Jack circle the contestants, "Sorry Jack, those boys will have to go. and the Ruka girl I had to add at the last minute. Though, she may show promise..." As he spoke, Zigzix appeared, "Sire, everything is in order."
Rex nods, "Good, monitor our key targets. Keep a eye out for any Crimson Dragon readings." With a bow Rex turns towards the first Duel: Yusei vs Shira.
(In the backrooms...)
Leo watched Yusei duel eagerly, Rua checking his new deck. "Did you finally make a focus for your deck Rua?" Leo asked, smiling at his bro. "Yeah. I think my deck will work nicely. With a few of my favorite cards splashed in there." Rua said confidently as they both watched Yusei wrap up the duel, his Nitro warrior slamming into Shira's token to finish the duel.
"Nice finish!" Leo said as Rua smiled, holding up Carly's Fortune Lady Knight Elizabeth. "Yeah, this deck will be perfect."
(With Goodwin...)
Jack watched Goodwin speak with Zigzix, "Nothing sadly sire. We'll have to push him more with the next match." Rex nods as the screen flashes, soon showing Rua vs. Professor Frank.
"Now to get rid of the boy..." He mumbled out of Jack's earshot.
(In the back room...)
Rua swallowed, "I was hoping to save this for later, but..." Leo patted him on the back, "You got our support Rua!" He nods as he makes his way out into the arena.
(Duel Arena...)
"And now for the second match! It's one of the Satellite Prodigies, Rua!" The MC shouted, Rua walking out onto the field to be greeted by boos and mocking comments. "Get out of here Satellite brat!"
Rua sighed, ignoring them as he walked over to his opponent, "And his opponent, the hypnotist extraordinaire, Professor Frank!" The crowd clapped for the doctor, whom chuckled at Rua. "I'm rather disappointed. But, if Goodwin wants me to deal with you so be it."
Rua huffed, "Let's see you try."
The two prepare their duel disks, "Duel!"

P. Frank: 4000

"I'll go first! I summon Dharc, The Master Magician of Shadows in attack mode!" A black haired woman mage in a black coat soon appeared, holding a staff with a odd skull on it.

"Kinda young for a 'Master' Magician. Is she going to do some card trick your mommy and daddy taught you?" The crowd chuckle a little, Rua shrinking as he heard that with Dharc glaring at him.
(back room...)
Leo shrunk a little as well, feeling his brother's sadness while Yusei clenched his fist a little. Leo would feel something... off. Though he couldn't put his finger on it.
(With Jack...)
Jack gave a soft growl that had Mina worried, though the champ seemed to retain his composure.
(With the Reactor...)
Zigzix was looking at the data from Yusei's match before he was notified. "Huh? What's this...?" He said, curious as he rolled over to examine the reading, "That boy... interesting..."
(At the match...)
Rua shook his head, "I won't let you get to me, I play Citadel of Endymion! Each time a spell card is activated, it gains a Spell Counter. With that, I'll end my turn with a face down!" (Hand: 3)
Frank drew, soon staring at the card he drew calmly, "First, I summon my Symmetry Rorschach to my field." A purple blob soon appeared by the Professor.

Rua scoffed, "That doesn't scare me." He said before Frank continued, "Right now it won't, but I set a card face down. Tell me, what do you see?" He asked calmly, Rua perplexed what he was up to before the blob shifted to look like Dharc, confusing Rua and his Magician. "Your move boy." (Hand: 4)
Rua shook his head and drew, looking at the card for a moment before he smiled, "I summon my Odd-Eyes Shade Dragon!" A dragon soon appeared from Rua's shadow, its red and blue eyes flashing before roaring.

"Hmph, and what's your pet lizard going to do?" Frank scoffed before Rua explained, "This, when a DARK monster is summoned, Dharc gains a Spell Counter. Now I activate my Spell Power Grasp, adding another to her while my Citadel gains a Spell counter. And I can add another Spell Power Grasp to my hand." Frank raised a brow.
"Now Dharc, attack that blob!" Dharc raised her staff, a dark plume consuming the blob before a loud 'crunch' was heard, bursting in front of the Professor.
[P. Frank: 4000-3200]
"But I'm not done yet! Now my Odd-Eyes gets a crack at you!" Odd-Eyes roared before breathing a spiral of black and crimson at Frank, sending him back a bit.
[P. Frank: 3200-2200]
The professor stood and dusted himself off, "A amazing display. Seems you were given some proper home training by your parents..." He said casually, Rua wincing at that comment.
(With Jack...)
Mina looked with concern to Jack's twitching eye. 'If that Professor keeps going...'
(In the backroom...)
Leo held his arm in a bit of pain as Yusei scowled. Bolt put a hand on his shoulder. "Relax. You should keep cheering your brother. That doc will get his." He said, calming Yusei down.
The girls watched eagerly. Especially Ruka as she was rather amazed at the boy's skills. "Hey Luna?" Once her twin turned to her, Ruka smiled, "I know he'll win. His monsters believe in him. And that Professor is just mean." She said, cheering the boy on as Luna stared at the screen. 'Why does he look like us...? And why do I feel... something big is about to happen...' She thought, secretly hoping the boy won...
(With Rex...)
'The Professor should eliminate that boy soon. Then his twin. They won't make it past...' His thoughts were interrupted by Zigzix, Lazar sighing at him. "What is it?" He asked for Goodwin.
"Sire, that odd energy reading that was different than the Crimson Dragon's? I'm picking it up again, and it's growing stronger!" Rex raised a brow, soon looking at the arena, "...Can you find the source?" The scientist grinned, "I have sir. It's coming from that boy. And I sense another source similar. Seems the Crimson Dragon's energy is reacting to it as well, if only very slightly." He explained, Rex raising a brow as Jack looked up.
'This may change things... Let's see if the Professor can bring this power out...'
(At the arena...)
Rua shook his head, glaring at the Professor. "I end my turn." He said, watching Frank draw. (Hand: 3)
"Well boy, let's see you handle this. I play Monster Reborn, bringing my Symmetry back. But I'll tribute him for my Ido, the Magical Supreme Force!" A dragon like ghost soon appeared where Frank's Symmetry was, Rua swallowing as the beast looked at him.

Rua knew what should have come next, but Frank chuckled, "Let's see your Magician pull a rabbit out of her hood to block this, I activate my Gestalt Trap trap card!" Chains with cuffs soon bind Dharc, "What did you do to my Dharc!?" Rua demanded.
"Simple, my trap allows me to reduce your mage's attack and defense to 0." Rua sweated as he watched Dharc grow weaker. [Dharc: 2000/500-0/0] "Uh oh..."
"You'd be right to be concerned, because now I play my Immortal Homeostasis! Now Dharc cannot be destroyed by battle. In addition, you take 300 for each turn her attack and defense are different than the original. Ido, strike that boy's Master Magician!" The ghost flew over passing Dharc and Rua, hurting the both of them. [Rua:4000-1800]
"With that, I set two cards face down." He said calmly, Rua drawing. (Hand: 1) "Oh, let's not forget you take 300 damage." Frank taunted, Rua hissing before looking at his card. [Rua: 1800-1500]
Rua blinked, feeling something off with the card he drew, "When did I...?" He pondered before the crowd grew impatient, shaking his head before the Professor interrupted him, "Before you go, time for a session." Rua was confused for a second before a card flipped, "My trap, Light Therapy, allows me to glance at the top 3 cards of your deck. Look into the light please."
Rua blinked before his eyes started to grow foggy, his expression blank as Rua revealed the top 3 cards: Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, and Odd-Eyes Dragon. "Very good. Now it's time to surrender." Rua's hands started to move toward his deck, pausing just above it.
(With Jack...)
"That's a cheap trick, Goodwin!" Jack shouted, startling Mina before he ran past her intent on getting to his little brother. Goodwin ignored it as he noticed the pause, Zigzix soon appearing, "Sire! It's here!" Goodwin stared intently with Lazar and Mina, "Let's see what power you have, boy!'
(In the backroom...)
Yusei and the others easily knew Rua was hypnotized, "That bastard!" Yusei shouted, shocking Leo of all people as his brother sprinted towards, the poor boy in pain from his arm as he followed. Luna blinked as Ruka was confused, 'What happened to him, Luna?" She asked, Luna running to the arena, "Luna!?" Ruka shouted as she caught up to her sister.
(In Rua's mind...)
Rua found himself in a sandy place, shivering as he remembered it. "Great... This again. I have a important duel and this happened..." From behind, the old man from before appeared, startling the boy once he finally noticed him.
"It has begun... One of the Divine Gods has awoken... You and your brother shall invoke your power before the tournament's end..." A random sandstorm kicked up before Rua could question him, "W-Wait! What do you mean!?" The only thing to respond was a set of red glowing eyes staring back at him, his body frozen as the shadow rose from the sandstorm with a mighty roar...
(In the duel arena...)
Professor Frank frowned, "Boy. I thought I instructed you to surrender." Rua's hand didn't budge, the crowd booing Rua before the boy raised his head...
Frank never felt fear before now, Rua's eyes were glowing intensely, his upper arm glowing with a odd red wing, as if the mark was incomplete. "Game over. I summon Divine Sage of the Sky!" Yusei and the others all appear to see Rua summon a veiled Egyptian robed sage dressed in red garbs and jewels.

Luna and Ruka stared at the stage behind the group, Jack and Yusei wondering what their brother was up to While Leo's arm mimicked the mark his twin just gained, grasping his arm in pain before Carly noticed, "Something's wrong with Leo!" Yusei looked down to see Jack act first, checking the boy's arm to find that same wing, "What's this!?" Tenzen blinked, "Never seen it." He commented.
"Does it have something to do with Rua?" Carly asked, everyone turning back to the duel.
"Now I tune my level 4 Dharc and my level 3 Odd-Eyes Shade Dragon with my level 3 Divine Sage!" Dharc was soon free from the chains binding her, both her and Odd-eyes disappearing with the Divine Sage in a intense light. Storm clouds begun to gather before the light turned into a red orb and flew into the ominous clouds, the monster Rua summoned made itself known, the crowd gasping as lightning tore through the sky.
"W-When did Rua get that!?" Ruka and Luna were stunned as Jack and Yusei were when Carly asked that, Leo staring in awe as the monster in question glared at Professor Frank... And roared with it's lower mouth...
(With Goodwin...)
Lazar and Mina both stared in stunned shock as the Director had quite a grin on his face as Zigzix laughed hysterically in the back ground. 'Looks like I misjudged those boys... Now I need to find out the true extent of this power. This is quite the delightful surprise...'
