Hi, it's me, the Ghost again.
So here is the next chapter. And I don't have much to say about it, not more then I promise that the rest of the Avengers will appear in the next chapter, or almost all of them.
And yeah I hope you enjoy the chapter :)
Thor walked up to Heimdall, who acknowledged him by nodding.
"Heimdall my friend, I need your help," Thor said and the other God turned and looked at him, almost puzzled.
"What do you need my prince?"
"Do you remember the woman that got here a few years ago, Loki's friend?" He asked and Heimdall nodded. It had more or less been a rhetorical question, Thor knew that Heimdall would remember.
"I do remember her," he said in a low voice.
"Can you find her for me?" Thor asked.
"I also remember her saying that she would kill you, if she ever saw you again, do you remember that?" Heimdall pointed out.
"I do," Thor just answered, waiting for Heimdall to find her. The other God turned away and soon look out into what for Thor was nothing, but he knew of Heimdall's power and the man saw things Thor couldn't. After what felt to long for Thor's likening Heimdall spook again.
"She is in a world far away, a world no one of us ever have visit," he informed him.
"Can you bring me to her? Or her to me?"
"May I ask why you want to see this woman?" Heimdall asked.
"You may not," Thor said and Heimdall gave him an suspicious glance, but he didn't questioned it.
"I can bring her here, that I am sure off. I can't say the same for brining you to her," Heimdall finally answered.
"Bring her here then."
"Are you sure about that? Have you spoken to your father about this?" Heimdall said.
"We both knew the answer to that," Thor said. "This is me and my mother's doing."
Heimdall reminded silent for some time and Thor wondered if the other man would refuse to do what he asked for, when he only pulled down the sword in its holder. Thor saw the Bifrost start spinning in a familiar way.
The spinning stopped and Thor looked at the tall woman, looking just as he remembered. He couldn't deny that she was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen, making her a perfect match for his brother. They were a perfect match in more ways than their appearance, he had thought so since the first time he met her.
The woman stood there in a black trousers and a black top, it all made for fighting, her blond almost white hair was a mess, just like her clothes was covered in something, Thor guessed blood. He glanced at the guns she had in her hands, it was clear that she had been in a fight. She glanced around her, appearing to be a bit puzzled, but not frightened over the fact her that she had been more or less abducted. Then her clear blue eyes landed on him and he saw how they became filled with hate at once, and she raised the guns, aiming at him.
"Friend Cara…" he started but that only seemed to anger her more, and he thought it was best to be honest and head on, before she had time to shoot him. It would not kill him, but he wasn't someone who found pleasure in pain. "I know you hate me, I can understand why, but I need your help!"
That made her raise an eyebrow, in what Thor only could guess was surprise. But he hadn't been shot yet so he thought it was a step in the right direction.
"Could you like to follow me to the castle?" Thor asked, but she didn't move, that didn't surprise him. But he didn't want to talk about this with Heimdall in the room, however, he the other God would find out anyway, and he trusted Heimdall not to inform his father, because he had never done so i the past.
"To be honest it's Loki that needs the help," Thor said. Cara didn't say anything in a long time.
"I don't know what kind of games you are trying to play Odinson, but Loki is dead, we both knows that! And abducting me here, mentioning his name in hope of luring me into a trap won't spare your life," she said with a voice cold as ice.
"It isn't a lie!" Thor said, trying to figure out what to say, but he felt like the words betrayed him. "I wouldn't have called you here to lure you into a trap. I know how painful it was for you to lose him, because I lost him too. But I don't want to lose him again, and I therefore asking for your help."
He more or less begged her, but what else could he do? He really needed her help, she had magic that could, or at least he hoped, could help Loki. He saw her thinking it over.
"I…" she started, she was unsure, Thor could tell, and he could understand her. He hadn't believed that Loki was alive at first either. "Show me."
Thor could have kissed her at the spot, if it wasn't for the fact that she would have killed him if he tried. And he didn't want to give a reason to distrust him even more. Instead he started walking with her behind him, something he wasn't totally happy about it, he didn't want a knife in the back, but he had to trust her if they wanted to save Loki.
Cara had made herself invisible when they entered the castle and even if that made Thor more uneasy, it was for the best, he knew that. He took them to his mother's chambers, and walked in after knocking.
"Any luck?" Frigga said very nervous.
"I think so," Thor said, looking around hoping that Cara was still there, and when she revealed herself, he felt at ease.
"Cara dear," Frigga said happily and walked towards her with a smile, not minding her bloody clothes, and offered her a hug.
"Frigga," she answered and hugged the older women. Thor knew that Frigga was the only one in Asgard that Cara didn't hate or wanted to kill. She understand that Frigga had loved Loki no matter his origin, and what he had done to show Odin that he was worthy.
"I am relieved to see you, I, or we, didn't think you would come," Frigga said when she let go of her.
"I was about not to," Cara said honestly.
"I understand why," Frigga said. "But we really need your help."
"Thor said so, he mentioned Loki. And if there is a small chance of him being alive I need to know."
"He is alive," Thor cut in. "But I am not sure if that's a good thing or not."
Thor looked at Cara who showed no emotions, just as Loki, she had mastered the art of concealing it all, another time Thor would have hated it, but now he had other things to think off.
"Tell me what you know."
When Thor had finished retelling the story about New York, the Avengers, Loki's plans, his capturing and defeat, and finally his punishment and what he had found in the cell, Cara had gone silent. Both Gods observed her back as she stared out through the window. She hadn't said a word the whole time. In fact, she didn't seem to know what to say. When she finally turned around to face them, Thor could tell that she had been crying. Her cheek was wet and her eyes was red.
"Before we even goes down this road, you both need to know that even if we save Loki, he may never be himself," she said slowly. "Going through what he has gone through changes people; to what you can never knew. Most people break, which is basically the point of doing such things."
"Have you ever dealt with something like this?" Thor asked and she avoided to look at him.
"I have… I have personally been through things similar," she said and Thor was about to ask more, but Frigga stopped him. "That's why I can't guarantee that he will be himself."
"You seem to be doing fine," Thor said and she shook her head.
"I am not the same person as I in my youth, but this isn't about me. If we are going to help Loki we need a plan."
"Can't we you use the same spell, and get in and take him?" Thor asked.
"And then what?" Thor looked at her, he hadn't thought about that. Cara didn't comment on it. "We need a way to get into Loki's cell, get him out, then go somewhere to hide while I try to help him, somewhere Odin won't look for him and try to take him. Preferable would be if he still thought Loki was in the cell…"
With those word Cara started thinking, and Thor understood that she like his brother wouldn't say anything until she had an idea, so therefore he started to think too, or at least try.
They had come up with a plan, not as good as either of them had preferred, but it was the best they could do without leaving Loki to long in the cell.
Cara would make them both invisible, making it possible for them to walk past the guards as one of the people who was allowed to visit Loki, went in. They would go after him, and then Cara would cast a spell she had learned on her trips to turn the "guest" into Loki's lookalike and chain him up.
After that come the part of the plan Cara had the biggest problem with, which Thor didn't understand why. They should take Loki away from Asgard, to Thor's friends in New York, in the Stark Tower. Thor had been very proud of himself for thinking of it, Odin would never look for Loki there, if he figured out that Loki was gone, Odin or anyone else wouldn't search for Loki there. Cara had said it was a stupid idea, but since Frigga had begged her not to take Loki to another world, she had yield.
Frigga had taken on the task to keep Odin busy, despite her angry, and unwillingness to ever speak to him again, she would do it for her youngest son. But a few days later fait had it's turn, and it looked like she didn't need to spend time with Odin, because he was needed at the dwarfs. He wasn't happy about it, but as all father he had to go. And they all knew that this was the time for them to act.
Thor stood impatiently next to Cara who stood perfectly still, almost to the degree that Thor wanted to say something about it. But he knew that he had to be quiet or he would revile them. They had stood in front of the door for almost 3 hours and he hated it.
He was almost about to give up when a man walked towards the door. The guards glanced at him, but they recognise the man, and opened the door, and that was their queue. Cara made them invisible and they walked fast to the door, or Thor hoped that it's both of them, since he could neither see or hear Cara. He on the other hand had the feeling that people could hear him, just not see him.
They got past the guards and walked through the door just as it closed behind them. The man planning on visiting Loki walked down the stairs in front of them. Thor desired to hit him in the head right away, but he knew that the guards may hear that and come investigate and then it would all have been for nothing, instead the followed him in silence, for what Thor thought as the long the last time. When they finally reached the bottom Thor hit the man in the head and he fell to the floor, Cara removed the spell before glaring at Thor.
"We do need him alive," she said and Thor looks at the man.
"I didn't mean to hit him that hard", he answered and Cara raised an eyebrow. "Okay, I did, but I don't wish to kill hm."
She just shook her head, and Thor threw unconscious man over his shoulder and they walked towards the cell.
As they stopped in front of the cell, Thor felt as sick as the first time, he saw that Cara tried to not let it affect her but she was didn't manage, not fully at least.
She turned away from Loki and looked at the man as Thor putted him on the floor, kind of gently, or at least gently enough for him to stay alive. Cara didn't seem to care about it this time.
He observed at her as she she putted her hands on the man's temple and he heard words, but he couldn't understand them. But he saw the spell as the blue colours sipped out of her fingers and into the man, which soon started to change. It took a while, but when she was finished, he looked just like Loki and Cara stood up, seeing to be a bit weaker.
"Are you alright?"
"I will be in a moment, at least when it comes to getting my energy back," she simply says. Thor just nodded, trusting her to knew her own strength, since his knowledge about magic was very limited, due to the fact that he simply didn't found it interesting. However, Cara seemed to have recovered some energy after sometime, and she turned towards Loki.
"Now to freeing him," she says more to herself than Thor, but he still nods. However, he had tried it, and it hadn't worked. Loki had screamed in pain and Thor didn't wish for that to happen again.
"We can't just pull him free," Thor informed her and she rolled her eyes and found no reason to answer him as she carefully stepped forward.
"Loki, it's me, Cara," she said in a very calm and friendly voice. "I am going to get closer before I touch the wall. I am not going to touch you!"
Thor just looked at her. He hadn't thought about telling Loki stuff like that. He had just walked towards him, more or less. But Cara did it carefully, observing Loki all the time. As soon as she got to close, he tried to get away as far as he could and she didn't pressure him.
"I know that you are afraid, trust me, I know. But I will not touch you. You can go even further away from me if you want," she said and then slowly started walking again, and Loki got further away, and she let him do so without following him. She walked to the wall, where the chain was connected to the wall. She studied it asThor did the same with her. He was fascinated with how slowly and careful she did everything. She didn't touch the chain, instead she started to remove the bricks in the wall, and Thor glanced at Loki, and seeing that it didn't caused him pain made Thor smile.
"Now we need to get him out of here," Thor says.
"I would have preferred if I could put him to sleep, but I do dare to use magic on him when he has the collar on. It's powerful magic and I am unsure of what will happen if I teleport him. However, I don't have time to take it off now," she says and starts to think, but Thor is faster this time. He walked towards Loki, whom looked at him with the most scared eyes Thor ever have seen, and he knew that his action may hurt Loki more, but he needed to do it. He carefully hit Loki in the head making him pass out. Cara stared at him for a while, before sighing.
"I guess that was for the best," she said and walked over to Loki, putting coat on him. It was too big for him, almost having him drowning in it, but it covered him, and Cara had explained that it was better if it was big giving him a chance to hide in it. And if it is big it wouldn't feel like it was holding him down against his will.
"Can you carry him?" Cara asked when she was done and Thor nodded, taking his brother in his arm, amazed over how light he was. Thor felt the anger but repressed it, it wasn't the time or place for that.
Cara chained the other man to the wall, with some spell before she looked at Thor.
"Let's get out of here."
