she locked the door behind her, taking care to reset several trip wires that surrounded the door. She forced herself to be silent as she threaded her way deeper into her hidden home. A small but heavy package clutched tightly in her hands. It had all been worth it, all of the fear, the endless nights planning, it had paid off better than she could have hoped. Carefully she set the package on the table as she took a chair. She breathed deeply once, then twice, her body slowly coming down from the adrenalin. With shaking hands she retrieved an item from the bag. The cover was faded to the point where none of the words could be read, inside the front cover proudly displayed the name and author of one of the most dangerous books to be found in possession of. Most books had been banned since long before she was born, this particular book, and all the others she had recently stolen, was on a whole other level of bad if you were caught with it. Alyssa set her jaw in determination, this is how she could level the playing field, she looked down at the book and began at the beginning "The Standard Book of Spells, grade 1, by Miranda Goshawk"
