Once inside, Keith leaned against the door and wondered why he felt — off. He thought the date had gone well. Lance made him smile like no one ever had. And with the way Lance had been looking at him, all fond and sweet, he'd really thought…

And when Lance drove him home, he'd hopped out of his car with Keith and walked him all the way to his front door before he… said a simple goodbye and left without…

Keith shook his head. There was no reason to be upset. Lance said he had fun and they had plans to see each other again soon.

Still…

A quiet knock at the door pulled him from his thoughts. There was a flutter of hope in his chest at the sound, and he opened the door without hesitation. He was immediately swept up in a kiss as Lance's mouth claimed his, lips pulling urgently at his own.

"I should've kissed you goodnight," Lance murmured against his lips, doing his best to speak when he was unwilling to fully release Keith's mouth.

Keith spoke his own words against Lance's mouth in return — "I should've invited you inside" — as his arms wound around Lance's waist so that he could tug Lance in close.

"Should've pushed you against this wall."

Keith released a breathy sound as his back hit the wall by the door and Lance's weight fell against him. "Should've shut the door behind you," Keith countered as he swung out a leg, doing his best to kick the door shut without disrupting the way Lance had him pinned against the wall.

"And locked it," Lance added, with a pleased smile pressed to Keith's mouth.

Keith chuckled as he slapped a hand towards the door until he found and turned the lock, unwilling to even turn his head away from Lance's clever mouth to make the job easier.

Then Lance's hands were in his hair, pulling the hair tie out so that he could scrape his fingertips across Keith's scalp and slide those long fingers through the strands, pulling another soft noise from Keith in response.

"I should've taken you to my room."

An enthusiastic noise rumbled form Lance's chest as he nodded through the kiss.

Keith pushed them off the wall, and while they were now moving through the main room, nothing else changed as Keith kept his arms tight around Lance and Lance refused to release Keith's mouth. They made it to the hallway, pulling at each other while Lance laughed because he was forced to walk backwards and their legs kept getting tangled.

"Wait," Keith murmured, stopping them so they could go back a few steps to a door they had already passed. Lance laughed again as Keith reluctantly removed one hand from Lance's waist in order to swing open his bedroom door.

"I should've distracted you so you'd forget where your own room is," Lance whispered with a fond look similar to the ones Keith had seen earlier on their date.

"I should've taught you a lesson for being so distracting," Keith murmured, eyes dark and lips pulled into a sly smirk. The coy look only lasted a second before Lance launched himself at Keith, knocking him backwards into the room. The door was once again kicked shut behind them.

Neither noticed Shiro where he stood at the end of the hall, glaring over the rim of the tea Adam made him drink when he was sick.

Meow?

"Yes, Jet," Shiro said with a nod of agreement down to his beloved cat, "Keith should get his own place."
