After escaping Kiba, Hinata ran as fast as she could to her condo. She couldn't help but wonder why her friend would compromise their friendship like that. It was more confusing for her because she never gave him the impression that she was ever interested in taking anything with him to the next level. In fact, she had always seen him as brother. Once she noticed her place was in sight she decided to slow down a bit, taking some time to catch her breath. Now she was feeling angry. Above all Kiba should've understood that she just had a divorce. Where was the thought that maybe making a move wasn't the right thing to do right now? However, Hinata soon concluded that it was the selfish male instinct which then made her scoff at the idea. They always wanted what they wanted without considering the other person. She didn't want to take another loss right now but obviously things were never going to be the same after that.
Night was starting to fall when she got to her condo. She opened the door smiling as she looked around at the place, happy to have finally been in the comfort of her home. Also, it was her favorite time of day. At least now she could sit on the back patio and enjoy a cup of tea before bed. As soon as she was about to make her way to the kitchen she heard a knock on the door. She didn't get very many visitors and so it was odd that someone was actually at her door. As she walked to the door she started silent praying that it wasn't Kiba or something important, she was dying for some alone time. The events before had exhausted her, she wasn't sure how much more she could handle. Ultimately, she still ended opening the door. Her eyes widened at the person that stood before her. "What the fuck do you want?" Her tone clearly indicating her irritation at his presence.
"I think we should talk Hina" he'd say calmly, wanting her to realize that he had no intention of upsetting her.
Hinata scoffed at his words, a habit she had picked up on very well from living with him. "We have nothing to discuss Uchiha." Her tone was cold and formal. She wanted him to understand that she was through. There was nothing that he could say that could change her mind. As far as she was concerned he was enemy at this point. The fact that they were married before was irrelevant. Therefore they were strangers. "You have no right to even be here."
Sasuke stumbled back a bit, as though her words had physically wounded him. His actions had caused her to become hardened to him. Instead of his loving wife, another form replaced her being to protect her from him. It almost deterred him from saying anything else but he needed to at least tell her how he felt about her. Hopefully he could break the wall down a bit. He wanted to fight for her love again.
Her anger was growing as she looked at him. It looked like he was a lost puppy. All those months when he barely gave her any conversation...now he wanted to talk? No, it wouldn't be that easy. In fact, he's lucky that she hadn't slammed the door in his face already. It seems like he didn't understand how deeply he hurt her. She took a breath, closing her eyes for a moment to compose herself. When she looked at him, her expression had turned to stone. "I'm going to make this easy for you...our marriage is over. The papers were signed therefore making any interaction between us strictly business. You don't even have to worry about that, because I already spoke to the Hokage about never placing us on missions together. There is no fixing this Sasuke...you fucked up and now you're going to have to deal with that" she'd explain in a detached and clinical manner. "Maybe Sakura can help you get through it."
"Why can't you understand that I just made a mistake?!" he said in frustration. "I love you Hinata. I want to get us back" he explained, stepping toward her again. "I would do anything for you to forgive me. So please just tell me what to do. I'll do anything...please"he begged, desperation in his tone.
Her heart broke at little at the desperation in his voice. She loved this man with her whole being. There was a time that she would even die for him if need be but he ruined this for them. "There is no us anymore" she responded, her voice cracked and raw. "You stopped worrying about us when you fucked her Sasuke. I wish you would've been put this much effort in when we were married."
"Hinata please..."he pleaded again. "It was just that after we lost the baby, everything changed... you changed...I didn't know what to do." he said shakily as he looked at her. "I felt like I was losing as a husband and I panicked."
"WE didn't lose the baby...I did" she'd say angrily. "You panicked? I was the one that felt like a failure as a wife. After that our communication stopped and I felt alone because you didn't even try to comfort me. The fact that I couldn't provide you with a child killed me, but I never expected you to betray me. When you fucked her you proved to me that I wasn't worth it anymore."
"Hina...I didn't know" he whispered shakily as he watched her.
"You didn't know because you didn't try to know"she growled at him as tear to well up. "You did the one thing that I begged you not to do...you left me alone. There many times that I wanted to kill myself while you were off with Sakura. I kept myself away from the world because I knew everyone would be looking at me for what happened...blaming me. No one was there when I held my little baby in my hands...begging her to breath for me...no one!"
Sasuke started to tear up as well as he watched in her pain as she explained that moment to him. He hated himself for not getting there in time that day. She needed him and he wasn't there for her. "I know I have no right to ask for your forgiveness because I was lousy but please Hina...let's just try and talk about this."
Hinata shook her head as she wiped her tears, chuckling dryly. "No Sasuke...I'm starting to heal just fine by myself. The time to talk would've been when we were together. Now it's just too late. I can't forgive for what you did to me. "Just...leave."
For the first time Sasuke truly realized how much he had truly hurt Hinata. He knew he hurt her but he didn't realize the extent. This was not the Hina he knew, and it was his fault that the sweet side had vanished. "Hinata...I-"
"Stop...just stop"she said softly, forcing the anger and pain out of her voice. Instead of saying anything else she just closed the door, immediately dropping to her knees. She was weak from the painful memory she had to bring up. As soon as her child's face flashed through her mind she immediately started sobbing. She knew that it was time to deal with that loss. It was time to visit the grave.
A few hours later...
Naruto walked into the bar to see his friend downing what seemed to be his sixth shot of whiskey, judging by the number of turned down glasses. He sighed sadly before walking over to his friend, "Hey buddy..."he'd say as he patted Sasuke's back.
Sasuke looked up at Naruto before smiling, "Holy shit...what are you doing here bro?" he asked drunkenly.
"Well a little birdy told me that my friend was drunk off his ass again."Naruto stated as he sat on the stool next to his comrade.
"You know what, fuck that little birdy alright?"he slurred as he poured himself another shot.
Naruto shook his head before taking the shot and the bottle away. "Alright I think thats enough of that, what happened?"
Sasuke was about to protest but looked away from his friend when he heard the question. "Nothing man...nothing. Just me fuckin' up my life some more.."
"Hinata?" Naruto asked knowing that she is usually the reason for this sort of behavior.
The Uchiha nodded as he rubbed his temples, "I went to her house a couple hours ago, and I tried to talk to her but she's still mad at me.."
"Teme I guarantee no woman is gonna be happy after they are cheated on."he said before chuckling softly as he took the shot that was originally Sasuke's.
"I know that dumbass!" he said a bit irritated. "But I'm really sorry about it Naruto and I don't know how to prove it to her." he'd say sadly. "I really hurt her man.."
Naruto sighed again before taking his wallet out and placing some money on the counter. "Yeah I know, we all make mistakes but you know that mistakes have consequences. This ain't gonna be an easy venture.."Naruto said before standing and pulling his friend up also. "Come on lets get you home teme."
Sasuke nodded as he was pulled up, grabbing the bottle before exiting with Naruto.
Hinata stepped out of the shower, drying herself as flashes of the situation earlier ran through her mind. She had completely forgot about Kiba at this point and probably wouldn't remember him until she saw him again.
She dropped her towel and pulled on a large t-shirt before sitting on her bed wondering why he was so eager to come and talk to her does he enjoy messing with me? she thought before falling back onto her bed.
Later that night...
Naruto had brought Sasuke back to his house and was now heading home himself. On his way he ran into Sakura, "Hi..."he said awkwardly, not really knowing what else to do.
"Hey Naruto..."she said with a bright smile before looking away from him.
"Where ya headed?" he asked curiously, even though he knew what she was going to say.
"Nowhere in particular..."she lied, not wanting to look into his blue orbs.
Naruto sighed before shaking his head, an action that he seemed to have the habit of doing today. "I'm so tired of this..."he said under his breath before looking at her. "Look, Sasuke's a bit fucked up right now and he needs to fix his life. So just leave him alone Sakura."
"What?"she said chuckling nervously before looking at him. "Why don't you just fuck off Naruto and mind your business..."
"Just stop it ok? Both of you have been in my life forever there is no way that I can ignore this and you know it."he said before taking a deep breathe. "Anyways he's passed out right now from drinking too much so nows not the time to bother him."
"Oh no! I should see if he's ok" she said as she started walking before being blocked by Naruto.
"I'm serious Sakura. He needs space so he can get himself up and running again and you coming around him isn't helping." he said frankly.
Sakura felt her lower lip quiver when she heard Naruto's words. She knew it was true but she just wanted Sasuke so bad, "I love him..."she said shakily as she fought back her tears.
"But he doesn't love you, so stop torturing yourself. You're better than this!"he said as he touched her shoulders. "Come on, I'll walk you home"
She teared up even more before nodding and letting her friend lead her home. Once they got to the house Sakura turned toward Naruto and pulled him into a heated kiss.
He immediately pulled away and looked at her a little confused. "What are you doing?" he asked a little disgusted.
"Come on...don't you wanna come inside for a bit?" she asked as she grabbed his hand and softly kissed it before moving it to her breast.
"I can't believe you're this right now...you're worse than I thought.."he'd say as he pulled his hand away.
"Isn't that why walked me home?"she asked shakily as she watched him start to walk away.
Naruto looked back at her, "You know why I walked you home Sakura and it definitely wasn't that.."he said before shaking his head. "I'm not gonna do this again. I refuse to let you use me. I'm not the same dude I was years ago."he said before walking off.
