BR/N: Hello everyone, this is FireEmblemKitsune. I have chapter 3 of SRDB's story, so here it is. Enjoy. I know I did... the first time around.
Chapter III
"Hi. We're here for the new exhibit." Link said to the woman at the front office of the museum. "How many?" she asked. "Three adults and two children." She smiled. "That'll be $40.00 please." Link and Marth split the cost, each paying $20.00.
When they entered the museum, Link insisted on taking Toon and Young to the amusement park that was out back. All the child-friendly exhibits were also withing walking distance of the amusement park. Zelda dragged Marth to the Shadow Tribe exhibit.
"This place sure is creepy." Zelda said, clinging tightly to Marth's arm. "Don't worry, I'm here... its corny I know, but still a pleasant thought, right?" he said as he looked down at her. Marth thought that she looked when she acted like a small child.
The exhibit was full of strange paintings of death; there were weapons stained with blood, ancient torture devices caked in the dried blood of victims, a statue that was holding a strange black rock in the shape of a human heart covered with dried blood, [wait a moment...t's not a rock!] In short, there was a lot of blood.
In the center of the exhibit, there were five podiums with strange objects resting on them. One of the objects was a ruby red and gold bow, another was a huge broad sword with a black hilt. The blade of the sword seemed to be made entirely out of bronze. The third object was a blue hilted silver blade with a single gold diamond in the center of the blade; the diamond connected the blade to its hilt. The fourth object was a gold leaf crown, similar to a reef. The last podium sat in the center of the other four podiums; It held a black visor-like mask with gold on its trim. It almost gave off a butterfly-like appearance, but there were three claw marks over the eyes.
"Lets look at this one!" Zelda exclaimed, motioning to the bow. Its plaque read:
Junsui Tamashi
A bow that that was said to have belonged to the Prince of the Shadow Tribe. It was used to slay a great beast that was terrorizing their village. Legend has it the prince obtained it by prying it from the cold half-dead hands of a Goddess. Being the bow of a goddess, it is supposed to have supernatural abilities. The name Junsui Kokoro means Pure Spirit. It is also believed that it can purify the soul of the one struck by any arrow struck released from its silver string."
"Well that's a nice thought. Lets see what this one says." Marth said as he took a few steps closer to the second podium.
"Tsuyoi Shinzou
The sword was used by a great general of the Shadow Tribe. He used the mighty sword to slay evil beasts that entered the tribe's grounds. It was fashioned from the bones of a dragon that died by the hands of the gods. Being forged from a dragon, it will grant the wielder incredible strength. The name Tsuyoi Shinzou means Powerful Heart. Legends say that if the wielder does not believe in the power of the sword, it will begin to drain his life energy."
Marth was lost for words; he gave Zelda a small smile and they both walked to the third podium.
"Shinjinbukai Shinzou
This great blade belonged to the head knight of the Shadow Tribe. The sword was made to keep evil beasts from harming the royal family. Legends say that the knight was given the steel by an angel to fashion a sword to protect the royal family. Being forged from holy steel, no evil can touch it. The name Shinjinbukai Shinzou means Faithful Heart. It is rumored that the sword never left its master's hands and that none could wield it but him."
Marth chose not to speak and simply led Zelda to the next podium.
"Terashiteiru Hikari no Kokoro
Legend says that this reef once belonged to an angel that descended from the heavens to protect the Shadow Tribe. The reef is made of solid gold and platinum blessed by the gods and goddesses of the heavens. Legends told that the angel left it behind so that the people of the Shadow Tribe would never forget their gods. Since it was once 'angel property' it is said that it holds the power of the gods. The name Terashiteiru Hikari no Kokoro means Shining Light Belongs To The Mind, Heart, And Spirit. It is believed that it will purify the wearer and if one needs it, the reef will grant you the power of an angel for an unknown cost.
"Well that was nice to know. Do you want to keep going?" Marth looked at Zelda; she looked eager to continue.
"Kurayami no Kokoro
Legend has it that this mask once belonged to a man that made a deal with the devil to see the evil in people's hearts; this would enable him to make his own seem less dark. In time, the power began to drive him insane. The mask is made of a strange material that has not been confirmed, but legend says that it is made of demon hide. The mask is said to grant any dark wish that the wearer may want; if the wearer has none, then the mask will make its own wish come true. The name Kurayami no Kokoro means Darkness Owns Heart, Mind, And Spirit. Legends say that it darkens the purest of minds to force one into a state of darkness."
"Well that's... um ... nice. You want to go or...?" Marth looked down at his girlfriend.
"No, not yet. There's still that one." she said, pointing to a stone statue that stood behind a glass window. The statue stood at least six feet tall. It appeared to be an angle, though its wings were torn and scratched. The wing span was about ten feet wide; the angel's arms were folded over its chest. The face was a strange assortments of oddities. It had the eyes of a wolf, the nose of a man, and the mouth of a shark. It also had pointed ears. The beast bore no claws, but then again, it didn't need to, for it carried a sword. The sword had a golden hilt, a red ruby with black swirls spiraling in the center of the hilt, and two golden horn-like spikes that pointed up to the statue's head, away from the blade that appeared to be made of pure silver. The sword was about two feet long.
"Ankoku
The sword that a madman claimed he made for the devil himself. This statue is to protect it from any priest or monk. Its made of solid silver and gold, and the stone in the center is a stone they call Aku, meaning ,Evil,. The statue is supposed to be a barrier against the world and the sword. It protects the sword from being cleansed and keeps the evil in the sword from entering our world. The name Ankoku means Darkness. Legend says that one with an evil mind can free it from the statue and be used, however he or she must have committed many sins."
Marth watched as Zelda read on. When he glanced away, he could have sworn he saw someone watching from the hallway. "Well lets go." Zelda told him, giving him a small smile as she took his arm and they began walking out the door.
"Little Wolf."
Marth turned around in confusion. "What's wrong?" Zelda asked, looking at him with concern. "Um ... it's ... nothing. Just forget about it. I just lost my train of thought, that's all." he assured. 'I could have sworn I heard my name, but me and Zel are the only ones here. I wonder...'' He thought to himself as they met up with the three blondes and left the museum. After they left, they went home because Toon and Young were tiered.
After saying bye to Zelda, Marth went for a walk. He found Roy and Spade at the nearby park, talking to Roy's 'soul-mate'. 'He always uses that damn line ... and they fall for it every time. At least Zelda didn't fall for it. She just looked at him like he was crazy.'
"Yo Roy. Its time to give Spade back, I've got to go."
"Who's that, Roy?" Said the girl that had her arms around Spade. "Oh. It's my ... umm ... brother. You know, the one that has amnesia." Roy said, giving Marth a wink. 'Not that again. I had amnesia last week. (sigh) Well, at least I'm not 'dying in four days' or his an 'evil twin' like three weeks ago. I still can't believe they still fall for it ... we look nothing alike. They're all airheads.'
"Oh hi! I'm Luna, and your name?" She said, holding a hand out to him. 'Well, might as well go with the flow, but Roy owes me for th.' "Hi I'm ... um ... I'm ... uhh ... what was my name again?" Marth said, looking at Roy. 'I want to see just how good an actor you are, Roy.'
"You're Mike, remember" ... Mike" he said, slowly pronouncing the vowels. "Mike? I'm Mike, nice to meet y ... uhh ..." Marth said, acting as if he had just forgotten. "Oh Mike, it's bed time. Come on, we got to get you home. Okay?" Roy said. He got up and put a hand on Marth's shoulder. "But, Roy..." Luna pouted. "I'm sorry, but I have to get my brother home. I have no idea how he got here." Roy said, scratching his head as he started to walk away.
"Roy wait! Here." She gave Roy a small piece of folded paper. "Call me, okay?" She gave Roy a kiss before they left.
When they got to Roy's house, Marth stopped and gave him a look.
"Amnesia? Really? Dude you need to make up some new stories." Marth said, taking the leash from Roy's hand.
"I know. I need to read the Play Book"
"The what?"
"Errr ... never mind. Just, you know, go home."
"Hold on. I require payment for letting you use Spade. I'll come get it next time I come over okay?"
"Yeah yeah. I get it. See ya."
While Marth and Spade were walking home, Marth got the feeling that someone was following them. "Hello?" Marth called into the darkness. He turned to Spade, as if to ask if she felt it too. She tilted her head in confusion. "Either I'm going crazy or I'm just jumpy, but there's nothing there." He told himself, quickening his pace.
As Marth turned the corner, he tripped and felt something crawl up his leg. He stumbled to his feet and ran as fast as he could. He felt as if a great beast was after him as he fumbled for the key and struggled to open the door. He slammed the door open and fell to his knees. He clutched his chest and began reciting a prayer.
"Oh great almighty Yune, Great goddess of this world, Protect me from the darkness, Shield me from the evil that lurks in the shadows, Watch over my soul. Oh great almighty Yune, She who lives in the Heavens, She who started this would Protect me. I need your almighty protection."
Marth felt as if something was being pried off of him. He stared at his trusty hound and shivered. "Oh God. Spade, if my prayer was just answered then we have a devil following me. I have no idea why, but I think I'll have to use the shrine." He said, as he opened his wardrobe.
He reached into the wardrobe and pulled out a small cross with a golden dragon encircling it and placed it gently in a small pool of shining water. He recited a small prayer in another language and hung the cross around his neck with a piece of string. He removed his glasses, laid down, and began to sleep.
The clock on his bed side table read: 12:00 a.M.; there wasn't a sound to be heard... except for a scratching noise. The calendar read: Friday, 13. A small snap was heard, followed by a shattering sound. "Huh? What was that?" Marth said sleepily as he sat up and reached for his glasses. He got out of bed with a baseball bat in hand. "Spade, is that you?" he asked as he found the dog, still asleep downstairs. "I must be hearing things." He was about to go back to bed when he heard a faint growling. "Oh Yune, watch over me." He felt for his cross, but was shocked when he touched it and it shattered into pieces in his hand. "What! This can't be! This cross is a powerful relic. How?" He ran into the living room to reach the wardrobe, however something grabbed his leg before he could reach it. Marth strained to take steps closer to his wardrobe. Spade stood up and began barking at him. "Spade it's me girl! What are you barking at?" He looked in the direction of his dog before noticing his shadow in the pale moonlight coming from the window. What frightened Marth the most was not that he was hearing voices in his head besides his own, but that there were two shadows. One shadow was of course his own, but the other was unfamiliar to him, a beast of some sorts. It stood on two legs like a man, but it had a tail like a lion and talon-like claws. It slouched due to its two large dragon wings. It had huge coyote ears, and the teeth appeared shark-like. Its skeletal body was only covered with skin. Being a shadow, it should've had no eyes, but this one was different. Dark crimson slits were where its eyes should've been.
It advanced closer and closer. Marth could feel it breathing down his neck, but if he turned around he would see nothing. It wrapped its arms around his chest, and then Marth heard screaming. A strange wailing, as if now he could hear the spirits screaming. Marth clutched his head in pain. "Stop! Stop with this torture! I wish not to be plagued with the voices of the damned! Stop this madness! STOP!" Marth screamed at the top of his lungs, covering his ears as if he could stop the voices that cried like banshees.
"You have no wish, so I will make my own. Come true Marth Anri Lowell. As of now, you and I are one until one of us is to perish, and let me remind you that I am a spirit. I have no life span, but you, a mere mortal..." The voice sounded like it came from everywhere and nowhere at once.
"Who are you, Spirit!? Demon?! Devil?! Whatever you may be! What is your name?" Marth screamed to the heavens. "For millennia I have been called Kurayami no Kokoro, but as of now, you and all that see me shall refer to me by my new name, Marusu" its voice sounded like a darker and deeper form of Marth's voice. "Let me live my life, Marusu!" He shouted angrily. "Sleep now young wolf, until I can roam." That was the last thing Marth heard.
Spade stared at her master in a combination of confusion and fear. Her master was screaming painfully into space, but that other entity she had felt was now gone.
Marth's clothes turned into a tight black thief suit; it had black armor on his shoulders that had gold carvings, a weapon belt that hugged his waist, and long black boots adorned his longs. A dark cape reached down to his feet. On his face was a solid black visor-like mask that had gold on the edges. It almost gave off a butterfly-like appearance aside from the three claw-like cuts over the eyes. The area over his cheekbone was exposed; a dark smirk crossed his face as he looked down at the husky. "Will you hurt me now? No, not even if you could, because you know this is your master. But don't worry, stay here and your master won't be harmed." Spade whimpered and backed away. Marusu let out an evil chuckle. "This town, this race, has lived peacefully for far too many years. I'll put an end to that when I get my hands on Ankoku." He leapt out the window and ran off. 'Tn is the beginning of my return!'
A/N: Well that's it. I know, not that good, but I'll keep trying okay? P.S. If you want to get an idea of what some of this stuff is like Marusu, just imagine Marth from Fire Emblem Awakening but dressed in black. Oh, and as a boy." (Spoiler: Marth from Awakening is a girl!) Yes, the four weapons in the museum resemble Ragnel, the Master Sword, Falchion, and the bow Zelda uses in her Final Smash, just changing the colors. Now chapter #4 is coming soon.
[Palutena steps into the room] ShadowRose, are you in your box?
SR: Well, not right now, but I was going once I finished this chapter!
[Pulls out her staff]
Palutena: Power of caging! [Several iron cages appear and begin chasing ShadowRose. She tries to dodge, but she is caught in one of them]
SR: This is so not fair! I didn't kill Tink this time, it was that damn lawn mower. It wasn't my fault this time! I swear, I didn't kill him this time!
Palutena: Did you push him in the lawn mower's path?
SR: Um, NO! I am innocent!
Palutena: Shadow Rose I see all, remember?
SR: Damn ... well, review and go easy on me please. I'm going to THE BOX!"
tilde Shadow Rose
