AN/ so I planned on cutting out the part that Wolfdud16 edited because it wasn't finished and it makes my work look amiture in comparison, but I decided to keep it in because it really fits the mood I wanted to create originally, and I can't imagine it put in any other words. Well enjoy.

Chapter IV
It was a peaceful night in the city of Smashville.
Such nights were common in this particular section of the city. This was the "shady side of town", as it were. Most pedestrians knew better than to wander these streets at night, lest they accidentally run into some sort of trouble. And so it was that these streets laid mostly abandoned, with the only signs of life being a few parked vehicles here and there and the occasional rat scurrying through the alleyways. It was completely and utterly silent.
Said silence was suddenly disrupted by a loud crashing sound coming from the inside of a nondescript building, followed by the sound of an alarm going off. With a sudden movement, a dark figure leaped out of the open fourth-story window. The sound of gunshots followed , but not one of the bullets managed to hit the fleeing figure. The masked man deftly landed in a crouch and proceeded to run into a nearby alleyway. He did not get far before the direction he was running in was cut off by a group of armed men, each one dressed in identical suits and shades. The man in the mask turned around, only to find that the way he came from had been similarly cut off by the mobsters.
"Look kid," said one of the suited men, presumably the leader of the group. "don't try to run, you won't get far."
The masked man- or rather, the masked boy -regarded the group's boss with an expression one might use to regard a small child playing soldier. "Are you sure about that?"
The leader pointed his gun at the boy in a threatening manner, clearly not appreciating his attitude. "Look here, Mask Boy. We ain't afraid to shoot no kid."
"I dare you to even try." The boy said with a mocking smirk on his face. "I mean, really. Go ahead."
"Tch. Fine then! You heard him boys, let him have it!" The sounds of gunshots rang out from the back alley as the men fired upon the dark figure. A bloodcurdling scream was heard. Blood stained the floor of the alleyway. The men lowered their guns in shock at what they saw in front of them. Rather than the bloodied corpse of a boy in a mask, the body that now laid on the ground was none other than their own leader, whom had been standing at their side not five seconds prior. And now, standing in his place was none other than the masked boy, still wearing his confident smirk, though it now held an unmistakable aura of malice in it.
The men all backed away in alarm. "W-what the hell?!" One of the men screamed.
"Heh. 'Hell' is right, Boy. Now, I say run along before you meet the same fate as your boss." The boy's smirk somehow grew even more mocking than before as he spoke these words.
"J-just who the hell are you?" One of them asked fearfully.
"Hear my name, and hear it well," the boy boldly announced. He made a show of holding his arms out wide, as if he were some sort of grand overlord making a declaration to the miserable peons he ruled over. "I am Marusu Aku Kurayami, and we will not meet again if you wish to keep your lives." As the boy- Marusu -made his declaration, the moon came out from behind the clouds, showing off his short blue hair and odd, butterfly-shaped mask for all the world to see.
"Hey," one of the men whispered to the goon next to him. "ain't that that one mask from the museum?"
Despite having whispered it, Marusu turned to face the man who had spoken, a frown now adorning the exposed lower half of his face. "Hmph. Don't compare my mask to that fake you humans keep on display"
"What are you-"
"But enough of that. My patience is now wearing thin." From the holster at his side, he proceeded to pull out one of the handguns that he had...acquired from the hideout he had just vacated. He would have preferred a sword, but he would have to make do with what he had. For now at least. "Alright then boys, let's play a little game. Here are the rules: you get a three second head start before I start shooting. If you get hit, you lose."
"One." He took out another gun.
"Two" He cocked the guns and prepared to fire.
Some of the men did run away, fearful of whatever strange power this mysterious demon child seemed to possess. Others stayed behind, either too foolish or too prideful to run away from a mere child. Those who remained quickly readied their weapons, planning on gunning him down before he could pull any tricks. Before any of them got the chance to shoot however-
"Three." Without so much as a twitch, he vanished right before their eyes without a trace.
The men just stood there, confounded. For a few moments, nothing happened. "D-did he leave?" One of the men asked tentatively. After several more moments of silence, the man who had just spoken gave off a nervous laugh. "Heh...hehe. Looks like that punk was all talk afte-" His sentence cut off by the sound of a gunshot, and a red dot appearing right between the man's eyes. A trickle of blood ran down his face and for a brief moment, he simply stared dumbly ahead. Then he collapsed, his lifeless body hitting the ground without another word.
"Oh yes, I almost forgot," Marusu's cruel voice called down from atop one of the adjacent buildings. "If you lose this game, you lose your lives." This statement was followed by more gunfire. A hailstorm of bullets rained down from the heavens, striking down each and every one of the remaining mobsters with deadly precision. One by one, they all fell to a single bullet, whether it hit in between their eyes or straight through their hearts. All the while sinister laughter was heard all throughout the slaughter. In less than a minute, the alleyway was filled with nothing but corpses and bloodstains.
And then the night returned to silence.
"S-stop this madness! STOP! You can't just kill people for no reason, it's cruel and evil! Why are you doing this!?" Marth's incessant whining rang in Marusu's mind. Honestly, that fool's constant complaining was almost enough to take the fun out of senseless slaughter. Almost. Once the last mobster fell over dead, Marusu finally decided to try enlightening the boy. He didn't really think it would work, but he figured that anything was better than the constant backchat.
"You want to know why I'm doing this?" He asked his mental companion. "Why, because it's fun of course! To put people out of their misery. To watch them suffer for the brief moment it takes for the light to leave their eyes. There's nothing quite as satisfying. If it helps you sleep at night, I can tell you that they didn't feel pain for very long before their deaths." As he went on, he couldn't suppress the sadistic grin that crossed his features. "What does it matter, anyways? They were all complete scum anyway! I'm sure each and every one of them has committed crimes just as sick as murder. Maybe even worse. Really, I did this town a favor tonight! You should be thanking me!" He let out another round of psychotic laughter.
"But that's no excuse to just end their lives! Those men might've had family or loved ones!" Marusu quickly grew tired of whatever sugar-coated crap his mind mate was spouting. Because really, did those goons show mercy when they ruined lives with their job? No, they didn't. So what was the big deal?
"Tch, whatever. So Little Wolf, how many people do you think were in that little 'drive by' of ours? Ten? Twenty? No, hold on." Looking down into the dark alleyway, Marusu proceeded to count up the number of bodies lying dead on the cold ground. "Twenty-two...twenty-five...Looks to be about twenty-seven out here. So counting the eleven I killed in their hideout, that would make thirty-eight kills. Hm, not bad I guess, but I feel like I could've done better. Maybe I shouldn't have given them the chance to flee…"
"Thirty-eight…" The Boy muttered softly to himself. "Thirty-eight dead and you don't feel anything?"
Deciding that there was no longer any enjoyment to have in this conversation, Marusu chose to ignore the soft-hearted fool and turned away from the newly created crime scene. "Well, now that that little diversion is out of the way, I think it's time I get my hands on Ankoku." And with that, he began leaping from rooftop to rooftop , heading in the direction of the museum.
It took him a little over half an hour to arrive at his destination. He stopped on a rooftop overlooking the historical Smashville Museum and took a moment to appreciate the view. 'Somewhere within those walls is where Ankoku lies.' The thought made him a little giddy. Casually, he dropped down to the street below and strolled on up to the grand building before him.
"You there what are you doing up there?" a voice screamed
Marusu didn't answer his question, then he simply leaped from the roof and landed in front of the man
"My business doesn't matter to you, just as you don't matter to me" he said straight in the man's face
"Kid I don't like your attitude. I'm Captain Falcon of SPD and my rookie Kid Icarus" he said grabbing Pit from the back of the shirt
"Falcon, I told you my name was Pit not Kid!" the shorter struggled to get out of Falcon's grip
Marusu ignored them and broke through the window of the museum and set off the alarms
"Hey, he's getting away!" another policemen screamed catching the attention of both officers
"Marusu stop! You can't just break into a museum like this" Marth protested
"Why not it's easy and fun" Marusu responded ginning then spoke up again "Wait what time is it?"
"I don't know like ten to five why?" Marth answered
"I must keep my end of our bargain" Marusu sighed "you can roam during the day"
"So you're saying that you're going to stop committing felonies and go back to my house before the sun rises?" Marth questioned excitedly
"You're lucky the days are so long compared to the nights" Marusu sighed as he pulled out a small knife "But before I leave I must leave a little souvenir" he then scratched something into the glass before taking a step back to admire his work.
"Really now? vandalism, must you be so-" Marth growled before the being cut off
"Yes" Marusu sighed then as if he exactly what the boy would say next said "and as for why because it's fun". As they leapt their way out the police just entered the room to see the scratch on that was left on the glass
"He's laughing at us" Pit growled under his breath
"What was that rookie?" Falcon questioned the younger officer
"He's laughing in our face! He's mocking us! This is just some big game to him!" Pit screamed outraged
As the sun rose and the first rays of sunlight gently touched Marth's face he gently opened his eyes, he looked at the bright sky relieved that his nightmare was over.
"Look at the sky, it's so beautiful… wait since when did I have a skylight and since when do I sleep on a cement floor?" Marth sat up to see a beautiful view of the town, he then stood up and realized he was already in his school uniform and his school bag was lying next to him.
"Wow what a nice view but where am I?" He looked around and noticed he was on the school roof.
"Holy cow how the hec-… Marusu you ass!" he kicked the floor "this is so not funny" he then clenched his fists and growled "when I get my-" he paused then realization dawned on him "oh yeah"
Marth looked over the edge and almost fainted. He was on the roof of a seven floor high school "well I guess I have to take the stairs." He walked to a door and tried to open it "Damn its locked"
"Hey! Who's up there?" a voice called out from behind the door
"Dammit it's the night guard" he started to panic "if he sees me I'll be expelled"
"just jump" a voice called out to Marth from the deeps of his mind. Marth hesitated at first but did as he was told and jumped off the roof, landing on the second floor art building
"That was close, wait did I just jump five stories… and survive?" Marth looked up at the huge building "This must be the power Marusu was going on about, well if I can do that my whole life I guess I don't mind sleeping all weekend" he sighed "what he does with this power still bothers me, but it's not like I can go to a psychologist for that or tell anyone without the risk of going to ..." he let his thought go unfinished he didn't want to think about it
He looked at his watch 7:30 am
"Well I still have half an hour I guess I can get something to eat. There's a cafe right across the street" he smiled and shrugged "why not?"
He crossed the street to see two police sitting in the same booth, it was Pit and some old guy he guessed was Falcon the man he or rather Marusu had met the other night. He decided to sit in the booth behind them so he could hear, he didn't mean to pry, but if they found out it was him he was screwed.
"So you let him get away" Falcon said in a voice that said 'this is all your fault'
"Me!, if it's anyone's fault it yours" Pit barked in annoyance
"Do you think they'll fire all of us?" Falcon looked down
"What do you mean us? I have a good record unlike you" Pit pointed out
"You're on my team" Falcon stated
"And that matters because?" Pit looked unamused
"…"
"that's what I thought, besides I don't think we would have caught him anyway" he sighed "I hear he got surrounded by those gang members on the other side of town and not only did he survive the circle attempt but he killed there boss and took out at least 30 to around 40 other lives" Pit said looking down
"That's impressive" Falcon looked worried
"No it's sick, I meet up with a witness they said he was totally insane, he smiled and laughed the entire time" Pit looked unsettled
"You think he's a devil?" Falcon asked a slight bit of laughter in his voice
"This is nothing to laugh at Falcon" he scowled "unlike you I care about this city besides I saw his face he was wearing Kurayami no Kokoro the devil's mask he's the real deal" he shivered in fear
"Do you think Snake might call in a specialist?" Falcon sighed
"I don't know, he might" Pit only looked out the window
'Shit if they call a detective they might just find out it's me' Marth thought as he looked at his watch 7:58 am "shit i'm going to be late!" Marth said as he burst through the door as he left he heard
"What the -" from the two officers
"Yo Marth, Why in a hurry?" a familiar voice called out from around the corner
"Hey Roy" Marth smiled awkwardly
"Yo dude, did you get contacts? What happened to your glasses?" Roy looked amused
'I forgot my glasses!… but I can see fine' Marth pretended not to notice "Umm yeah I uh got contacts" he lied with a huge smile "come on we're going to be late for class" he change the subject and darted off Roy not to far behind him
At the café Pit and Falcon heard an announcement over the Bluetooth "All officers report to HQ we have a press conference, this goes for all SPD officers that will be all, over"
"Come on you idiot, we got to go back to base" Pit said as he got up
"i'll pay, you start the car" Pit said walking up to the counter as he tossed Falcon the keys
As Falcon walked out Pit gave a ten to the lady. She looked at him for a moment "Uhm sir its $5.00"
"Yeah can I have a Sunny-D please and keep the change" he winked at her
"Thank You and come again" she smiled
Pit took his bottle and left the café
"I saw you wink at her, What you say?" Falcon asked
"That's my business not yours, now drive" he said leaning back in his chair
"Dude you know the girls give the guys their numbers right?" Falcon questioned as he backed out of the parking lot
"Of course, I just gave her a tip that's all" he said pulling his hat over his head in a way it covered his eyes
"So Pit you got a girlfriend?" Falcon questioned
"I don't roll that way Falcon you're a little too old for me plus that's illegal" he said a small smirk on his face
"Not me you idiot I mean in general" the older face palmed
"No it seems like a time waster to me" Pit sighed not truly satisfied with his answer
"So you're gay?" Falcon asked trying to get on Pit's nerves he knew what the boy would say
"No I'm not gay! I'm just can't find that right girl yet" Pit screamed then sighed 'It's not like I don't want a girlfriend it's just I can't find one' an image of a girl's situate flash is before his eyes and he sighs at the thought
"So what do you think they might talk about?" Falcon asked snapping Pit out of this thoughts
"Don't know" he lied
Once they got they got there they all sat in a giant conference hall. At the head of the table was Snake he was the first in charge. Pit took a seat next to Link and Samus that were conveniently sitting next to each other. "Hey guys" Pit greeted his fellow officers
"Sup Pit" Link grinned as Samus only waved
"All right I called this meeting because I think we've all noticed the recent crime spree lately." Snake turned to the board behind him. "It's been about seven days and this one man has caused more harm than any other gang out there. The man goes by the name of Marusu." he said as a picture of the museum glass window appeared on the overhead.
"This isn't the first time he's committed not just vandalism, but over 200 accounts of murder" he changes the image to a picture of Marusu's signature in blood by an ocean of dead bodies
"And numerous counts of robbery" the slide changes to show stores with broken windows and an 'M' carved on the wall or door
"Men this is too much in so very little time" he turns to the council "We need professional help" then sighed heavily "we need …" he changes the slide to reveal a giant letter "A"
