Chapter XVI
The clouds over the city made it look almost like night but a small ray of light that was the horizon was present. The beach winds were strong but not aggressive, cool but not cold, a storm that would bring no rain but never blow away. The room was cold and dusty but not lonely. Zelda started to stir, she was confused about where she was and just why was she here. Until arms wrapped around her waist.
"hows there-" she was cut off by the 'hug' getting tighter
"long have I waited for our meeting my princess" the man behind her hissed in a pleased tone of voice
"your what?" Zelda said in disbelief
He sighed and looked at her straight in the eyes a look of annoyance in the pools of crimson "Little Wolf wishes to speak with you" he leaned close and kissed her deeply as he did so she found her senses fading
A temple that rested at the top of a waterfall in the middle of a forest. Zelda was awakened by a small splash of water. She rose to find a little girl of about nine years old laying next to her as she too stood Zelda could see her Snowy hair, sparkling eyes, and pale skin almost glowed in comparison to her black dress. As Zelda stood she took her hand
"nice to finally meet you miss Zelda" she smiled sweetly
"you know me?" Zelda asked surprised, scared, yet the confused expression
"well yes that is because I am you and at one point in your life you were once me" she smiled brightly but for some reason unknown to Zelda it seemed to reassure her.
"I think I've seen you somewhere before," Zelda said in a state of intense thinking as if she was trying to remember
Suddenly snapping her fingers as if she had found the memory she was looking for "you're the Princess of the Shadow Tribe I saw a picture of you in the museum" Zelda said in understanding
"that is correct I am Princess Hailey Shadowwalker of the Shadow Tribe" she said before giving a bow it suited her.
Zelda did the same "I am Zelda Hyrulea" she smiled brightly
"I assume you are crease as to just where you are, am I correct?" Hailey said
"well … um … yeah, I mean … I just woke up here … do you know where we are?" Zelda asked the younger girl
"well um not really but I know we are neither heaven nor hell nor Earth nor Ocendia" she said putting her knuckle to her lips.
"well, what now? I mean we have no idea where we are or why we're here" Zelda sighed
"um well maybe we can ask someone in that castle over there," Hailey said pointing to the top of the waterfall at which rested a huge temple-like castle
"good idea" Zelda smiled at the young princess as they both ascended up the stone stairs that lead to the castle
The guys rode up to the rode Roy in the lead with Pit sitting behind him, Ike and Link both rode up behind Roy driving side by side. They came to the loading docks.
"are you sure that he's here?" Ike asked raising an eyebrow
"I can sense him in that one # 5," Pit said pointing with his eyes and his wing to a warehouse with the number five on the front
"let's go," Roy said as they all sped up
They finally reached the stone steps of what looked like some sort of temple. A large structure on both sides of the temple's entrance was a large waterfall that spouted silver water. As they entered they found themselves surrounded by wildlife, vines all over the stone walls of the temple, however, there was no roof.
"strange castle" Zelda finely said breaking the silence
"not really, I mean it looks kinda like the castle back home," Hailey said still walking side by side with Zelda
As they reached the real castle Zelda pushed open the heavy doors to the throne room they saw an unexpected sight
The room was dark, pitch black, if not for the small windows that let in some of the suns remaining light. Collapsed on the ground was Zelda eyes closed but other than the fact she was on the ground she was fine.
"ZELDA" Link burst from the door and ran to his sister's side "Zelda? Zelda! Zelda answer me" he called out placing his hands on her shoulders and shuck her gently, to no avail
The others walked in shortly after
"what's wrong?" Ike asked a hint of worry in his voice
Pit placed the tips of his fingers gently on Zelda's forehead "she appears to be in some sort of trance" he finally said removing his hand
Roy stood from the squatting position he had taken when Pit was examining Zelda and turned behind him, his eyes fixed on a corner on the roof
"what did you do to her?" he said firmly
"the girl is fine" came a voice from every wherein the warehouse
Roy didn't answer but he quickly pointed his bow to the heavens and released an arrow, but Marusu leaped out of the darkness during the arrow and landed right in front of Roy.
Roy thought quickly spinning his bow and managed to hit Marusu with it. Marusu took a step back to regain his senses giving Roy enough time to get some distance. "some help would be nice" Roy called out to his friends. As if to answer his call Ike quickly charged at the masked man.
Ike managed to kick Marusu out of the storage room, casing him outside. Marusu pointed his palm to the heavens as Ankoku ripped its way out of his master's hand. Ike simply unsheathed Tsuyoi Shinzou. As the rapier of Darkness and the broadsword of a Powerful Heart collided sparkes flow. As Ike charged for attack Marusu quickly dodged and spun in a way that his blade would decapitate his enemy. Ike ducked and named for his opponent's legs. Marusu caught on to his opponent's plan and leaped away leaving some distance between them. Marusu quickly planned to close the distance the blade at his side and charged straight towards Ike. Instead of dodging Ike raised his sword in a defensive way, at that moment Ike overpowered Marusu turning Marusu's momentum into his own and countered.
"better than I expected" Marusu smirked
"I'm not going down without a fight" Ike grinned
Zelda and Hailey stood in a large throne room a shallow pond on either side of the crimson carpet. At the end of the carpet in a throne was Marth but something was off about him, on each side of his throne where two figures hunched over hiding there features.
"nice to see you made it" He smirked revealing fanged teeth. His jet black hair and blood red eyes, his voice sounded darker a bit sinister.
"Marth?" Zelda questioned
"no my dear that Marth welp you speak of, is this pest, I don't go back on my word, go speak to your 'Princess' you dog," the Marth in a black tunic said hitting one of those things hunched over, the whip sounded and the thing fell over and stood weakly.
"Zelda!" he ran over to her and embraced her
"Marth?" she questioned again looking him over. He had no shirt, tattered pants, dry blood cascaded over bruises and cuts, to top it off he was wearing a collar.
"I missed you" he whispered as his gentle gaze locked with hers
"what happened to you? Who it that? And where am I?" She questioned
"I don't want to talk about it … that is his Highness King Kurayami and he has invited you to the realm of the lost, the world of endless darkness because I wanted to see you again" Marth said pulling her into a tight hug
"Terence!" Hailey ran up the second figure
"Princess Hailey!" a blonde young man with brown eyes shot up he was dressed up in a similar way to Marth but he was on a leash
Before she could reach him he stumbled to the floor as a heavy whip struck him "did I say you could get up, back to the floor, you dog" the King hissed
"I apologize my lord" Terence cowered
"my patience is thinning Little Wolf" the King hissed
"my apologies" Marth was about to kiss Zelda good-bye but she quickly cut away his caller with a flick of her waist. As the caller fell to the floor the King rose. At that moment a blinding light shined out of Marth's body, then a voice spoke to Zelda from the sea of blinding light
"Zelda, wake up, it's not over" Marth's gentle voice whispered then everything went black
