Inheritance of the Elves
Chapter 2:
Towards the end of the Earth...
The next morning when the three of them woke up, hanging off the one bed where the all slept, they said nothing and blushed. Getting presentable and disabling all of the spells, the trio tiptoed down the stairs to the dining room. When they got there the whole order was waiting for them, staring at Harry as though there was something wrong with him or like he was a brat who wouldn't eat their vegetables.
Molly bustled over and steered Harry into a chair facing Dumbledore. 'Looks like there won't be breakfast anytime soon,' he mused silently. He continued to watch Dumbledore warily waiting for the inevitable questioning.
"Harry, my boy, you have to tell us who your mates are. We're here to keep you safe and alive and if you don't tell us we can't do our job," reasoned Dumbledore as he sat in front of the teenager with the Order behind him.
"No. The people I know are big enough targets without painting an even bigger bulls eye on their back," He glared mutinously at the adults. "Not like they like me anyway…" Harry muttered under his breath.
Hermione, who had been hovering on the edge of the room with Ron and Ginny, stepped forward, "Let me try, Professor."
Dumbledore inclined his head and allowed her to take his seat. She sat there and looked at him for a long moment. He had implied that he knew them and that he was close enough to feel that they would not want to be his mate.
"Padma and Pavati? Luna, Katie, Alicia, Angelina?" she paused after each name. Then she began with the ones that he wasn't very close to.
"Hannah, Susan, Cho, Pansy? Daphene? Astoria? Marietta?" there was a hesitation before she continued with lower and lower grade levels, all the way down to the first year girls. When she had come to Ginny's name, the room was silent and Ginny perked up a bit. But he didn't react, so she had gone on. Finally she gave up.
"I'm sorry, Professor. Maybe someone who was home schooled or older?"
As the Headmaster and Hermione changed places again, the twins pushed themselves of the wall they had been leaning on and sauntered over to him, putting a hand on either shoulder.
"Harry?" they asked in unison. He looked up and nodded to them. The twins gave him a mischievous smirk that sent chills up and down his spine. That smirk was trouble.
Slowly, George reached into his pocket and pulled out a large chunk of black stone. He broke off a nice sized piece and shoved the rest back into his pocket. Setting one hand back on Harry's shoulder, he suddenly pulled his arm back and chucked the Instant Darkness Powder at the wall. In the commotion they apparated out.
The three men collapsed in laughter once they were back up in the twins' room.
"That was bloody brilliant guys!" chuckled Harry as they landed in the room.
"Why, thank you," Fred bowed.
"Thank you very much!" followed by George.
"So what now, if I go back downstairs they'll just try and interrogate me again. And I can't leave the house or apparate. What am I going to do?" Harry ran a hand over his face and through his messy hair. Fred and George laid down next to him on the floor and stared at the ceiling with him.
"You don't have to leave the room, Harry," comforted George, laying his
hand on top of the smaller boy's.
"Yeah, there's a bathroom connected to our room and we can get you all the things you need," agreed the other redhead. Harry smiled up at the two brothers. They were often called insensitive and mean because of their pranks but they were truly the nicest of all the Weasley family. If they could ever love him back ... And become his mates... That wouldn't be so bad. It would really be great, honestly.
"Thanks, Gred. Thanks, Forge." He smirked as he peered up at the men above him. They smiled back down at him.
lololol
It had taken a long while to booby trap the door beyond any measure for the order. They had a whole hallway to themselves seeing as how no one wanted to be on the same hall as the twin pranksters. And not only had they booby-trapped the door they had done the same to the hallway. They were extremely drained but it was well worth it. No one would expect such thoroughness from the two supposed goof balls.
After taking a short nap to help replenish their energy, the popped down stairs for their and Harry's dinner. They came in late and said that Harry would get his dinner later. After eating Fred snuck in the ktchen then grabbed the spare plate of food for the missing person, Harry, and popped back up stairs and was joined not long after by his brother. They walked in and gently shook the younger male awake and handed him his meal for the night.
Harry smiled back up has saviors before digging into the roast beef, roasted potatoes, and peas, his favorite.
This went on for a week. The three wizards would wake up to the sound of some Order member trying to make their way down the hall of booby traps. Fred or George would pop down and grab the food under fire of threats and warnings before bringing it back. They would hang out and think up products before the other twin would get lunch. Then afterwards dinner.
It wasn't until Dumbledore had stopped all apparating in the household and the food supply that the twins had stashed had dwindled that they left the room. They had to muck their way through the hallway to get Harry, who had now become the very center of the world to them (along with WWW plans), some more food, water, and fresh clothes. At the other end was the entire Order.
"Fred, George! How could you do this? You have Harry locked in your room! Why would you-," Molly started in on the rebellious twins.
"Because I asked them to, Molly," whispered Harry as he slipped out along side the brothers, nearly untouched as he had followed them through the loophole areas of the traps. He couldn't let them take all the blame.
"But-," she started again but she was cut off by the young elf.
"No! They were helping me stay away from you because I asked them to. All you cared about was whether or not my mates might be swayed and what you should do with my powers. I've had enough of it!" With that he preformed his first act of Elvin magic. His ears became more pointed, the marks on his body glowed. He reached out and wrapped his hands around the wrists of his unsuspecting mates and vanished…
A/N: Okay. Chapter two done. Only 10 more to go… Do you like it so far?
