Hey guys and girls. Me again. Uni finished and I actually have a job now where I come home and I am not exhausted so I can carry on writing things.
I still have no idea where this is going. So again. Wish me luck.
I don't own anything bar the OC and maybe a table or something.
Chapter 2
The stranger woke up tied to a chair with a single light bulb hanging from her head. 'Oh god. I'm about to be interrogated aren't I. I haven't done anything wrong. Unless those holo people were actual people. It wouldn't surprise me. I saw a fox bird and a dragon looking thing out there so it's possible…'
"Hello? Would someone like to tell me where I am please and how I can get home? I have a family who is going to be worried about me!" she yelled into the darkness
"You will not be going back." a computer voice answered.
'Dear god that sounds like Siri. Has Apple taken me? I know I openly bash their iPhone but this is too far.'
"Why am I not going back?" The stranger asked.
"To put it simply you are here to amuse me. You can fight and you can do so well. You proved that today when you fought for 2 hours straight and managed to reach our maximum level." the robot replied.
"So what I'm going to spend the rest of my life fighting?" The stranger asked.
"Exactly!"
"What about my family. When they find out I'm gone they are going to be devastated." The stranger said looking down at the floor, her hair falling from her shoulders.
"I have made it so that you have never existed. They have no recollection of you at all. Memories have either been replaced or erased." the voice replied.
A tear fell on to the strangers legs. 'They don't remember me at all. But...' There was silence as the stranger took this information in. "How do I know you are telling the truth. How do I know you are not lying to keep me here just to keep me from making trouble for you! HOW CAN I BE SURE" With that yell she broke the chains she was tied up with and stood up and yelled. Wind rushed around her and the light bulb above broke and plunged the room in to darkness. "If you have the power to get rid of memories then show me. Show me that they are okay without me and so help me God if I think you're lying I will be nothing but trouble for you" The stranger said between clenched teeth and wind still whirling about in the room.
"Why would I lie? I hope for us to be friend's." the voice said in its monotone like sound. As soon as the voice had said it a blue screen lit the room and the woman turned around to stare at it. The screen flashed twice and then an image of a girl about 9 years old appeared on the screen. She looked like a much younger version of the woman whose breath had caught in her throat.
"Claire" she whispered. The image began moving and saw the girl playing on a console. She studied the girl's features knowing this could possibly be the last time she saw her. She could see her laughing and talking at the screen but the sound was on mute. However the stranger knew exactly what was being said. This was about 5 minutes before she had been taken. She was sitting there playing that game with her sister not too long ago. Two older gentlemen walked into the room and begun tickling the little girl. The three of them playing and laughing. Her two older brothers and her little sister were acting like nothing was missing. A tear ran down the girls face. "Show me the dining room" she said not taking her eyes off of her siblings'. The screen flickered to her dining room and looked at the family picture hanging on the wall and there it was. The place where she was supposed to have been at the back arms around her brothers was gone. It was true. They didn't reme-. No. They didn't know her. She never existed. The stranger felt sick. She fell to her knees and just stared up at the wall at the picture. The last time she would see her family. Her mother and father in the picture looking as happy as ever with three kids instead of four. It was hard to comprehend.
The screen went blank and some lights went on.
"You see. You can stay here and not have to worry about them. You can stay here and fight, have fun and most of all entertain Me." the voice ended. The stranger felt defeated. She had no choice but to do as he said. If he has the power to erase her from memories of people she loves so easily it's not worth her dying over it. Especially if he decides to threaten her family if she refuses to cooperate.
"What do you want me to do" the stranger whispered. Her voice raspy like the life had been sucked out of her.
"Just answer some questions for now. What is your name?"
"Charm...Call me Charm" she said standing up and making her way to pick up the chair that had fallen over in her angry wind storm.
"Right, Charm. How old are you?" Master Hand asked.
"22"
"And how are you feeling?"
"Angry, confused, pissed off, upset. Oh did I mention angry?" she said clenching her fists.
"I understand. You have every right to be angry. But until you are calm enough to be let out. You will remain in this room." the voice stated. Charm took a deep breath and tried to calm down. She wasn't a fan of small spaces so it was in her best interest to show she won't cause any problems
"Well why you don't tell me about this place. About yourself so I can understand this situation better." Charm answered trying to change the subject to get her family off of her mind.
"There's a plan. My name is Master Hand. I am the ruler of this universe. I had been bored for centuries until I learned how to see into other worlds. I would see battles and war and it would excite me. All except the killing of course. I always hated the killing. It was so messy and just yucky." Charm made a face at that. A "hand" who could take people from their own lives was afraid of blood and guts. "That's when I decided I would make a place where people could fight, still feel the pain but not die from it. As soon as I managed that I started bringing fighters here. Some from the same universe and others by themselves like you"
"So how long has this been going on for?"
"Roughly 15 years give or take." There was silence after that. Charm was just taking it all in. "Do you have any other questions for me before I go. I have other things to deal with. "
"Actually, yes. I'm starving. Do you have food here? Oh and a bed. I think after a meal a nap would help me think things through. "
"Sounds fair. Enjoy your meal and your sleep. I will be back later. "
There was no more sound signalling his departure. The room went dark again for a couple of seconds and then the lights came back on. There was a table of food in the corner of the room and a bed in the other. Charm went to the table and ate like nothing was wrong. Like what she had just found out hadn't bothered her at all. Inside however, she was dying. She wanted to collapse to the floor and just cry. 'I can't allow him to see me unstable. He will keep me in here for longer. There has to be cameras in here. So just bite your tongue Charm and don't let it get to you. Not yet.' She continued to pile her plate high and devoured the food. She had always been a big eater. Her entire family had. Well, all except her mother who never ate even a quarter of the amount the rest of us did. No one really new how we did it or why but we would just eat and eat and eat.
After eventually filling her stomach, she sat on the edge of her bed and thought back to what she has seen today. The 'people' she saw outside of the box. The blonde that had caught her eye. The way she released her (one assumes) girlfriend and gave her that challenging look back at her. If she understood that smirk, she was strong. Hopefully she would get to fight her soon. The fighting she had enjoyed. If that's all she was going to be doing whilst she was here then she was okay with that. Fighting had always taken her mind off of things and she could do it for hours on end. Her and her brothers would fight for hours on end in the garden; until we started getting stronger, so we would need more space. Charm laughed as she thought of the memories.
'I suppose it's time to pack those memories away for a while. It shouldn't be too hard. I've done it before. *sigh* I should sleep. Usually that helps to clear my mind.' laid her head down on the bed and shut her eyes. Before she fell asleep, one last tear slipped down her face. It would be a long time before she thought about her family again.
I know not as long as the previous chapter but I just wanted to cover some background story for my OC. Feel free to give me some tips and help me figure out what I've missed.
