-Chapter 2: I… I Love… You
Bankotsu laid on his bed thinking about the conversation he had with his mother earlier at iHop. Analyzing what he was supposed to do next. If what he started to feel for Sango was indeed love, then how was he going to get close to her without causing her anymore fear? He covered his eyes with one of his hands. "Fuck..." He said under his breath. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Come in..." Bankotsu called out as he sat straight on his bed.
"Jakotsu told us about your little problem." It was Renkotsu, the 3rd youngest of the seven brothers.
"That Jakotsu, always finding a way to get the attention on him. So, what do you want? I doubt you're here to congratulate me or help me out, so spill it." Aside from Jakotsu, Bankotsu didn't really get along much with the rest of his brothers, seeing as they didn't quite like him for being the youngest and the most handsome of them all. Not to mention he was his father's pride.
"You're right, I'm not here to help you out. I'm here to tell you to stop with your stupidity. All this talk about finding your other half is all bullshit from mother."
"Don't you dare speak of our mother that way. She is still your mother and you should have more respect towards her!" Bankotsu burst out. Oh, how he hated for his brothers to speak badly of their mother, they all blamed her for causing father's death.
"She was stupid to follow her heart and marry our father who was a simple human. If it weren't for that mistake Grandfather would approve of us all."
"If she hadn't followed her heart, you wouldn't have been born you dumbass!" Bankotsu disliked all his brothers, they all wanted Grandfather's approval just because of his fortune. He disliked his Grandfather the most for causing so much pain to their mother. Renkotsu smirked.
"I'm warning you, Bankotsu, if you as same as out mother causes more shame to this family, you might as well just separate yourself from the rest of us!" Renkotsu walked out of Bankotsu's room, slamming the door behind him. Leaving behind a very pissed off Bankotsu.
"That asshole always manages to piss me off. He will never understand that no matter what we do or don't do, Grandfather will never approve of us." Bankotsu grabbed his phone and wallet from the night stand and jumped off the balcony. He didn't feel like bumping into any other of his brothers.
-With Sango and the Gang-
"Man am I tired!" InuYasha said as the let himself fall onto Sango's sofa.
"Tell me about it, my feet are killing me!" Kagome said as she too sat next to InuYasha. "Why'd have to wear heels today?" She added taking her shoes off. The entire gang had spent the day at the Mall doing light window shopping here and there. It was a little past 7 in the evening by now and all they wanted to do was chill at home.
"How about we order pizza and watch movies?" Sango commented as she went to the kitchen to grab a couple of bottled waters for her friends. Koga and Ayame who had also made themselves at home nodded in agreement.
"That sounds like an excellent idea." Ayame noted.
"Then it's decided. Now the only problem would be, which movie do we All want to watch?" Sango questioned as she handed each of her friends the waters. After a short period of time deciding which movie to watch, they all agreed to just watch regular TV. The pizza arrived a few minutes after and they watch TV and ate in silence. Night finally came and as much as they disliked it, they all had to leave Sango alone tonight. Tomorrow was Monday and they all had to go to school. Some hadn't even done their homework, being mostly InuYasha. The gang said their good-byes but no after doing a check up around the house and getting a reassurance from Sango that if anything, she wouldn't hesitate to give them a call.
"We made sure all doors and windows were locked, so you should be safe tonight." Koga said as he stood with the rest of his friends at the doorway. "If you hear anything strange just give anyone of us a call." The rest of the gang nodded.
"I'll be fine. I'm not a 12-year-old that doesn't know how to take care of herself. Now that I know what Bankotsu truly is I can assure you all that I can handle him." Everyone looked at her wondering if she was able to fend for herself, but they all decided to shrug it off.
"Just call us if anything. We'll come and pick you up tomorrow for school." Ayame said as all four of them walked away towards the car and out the drive way. Sango sighed. Finally, she was on her own. She loved her friends but sometimes they smother her too much. She chuckled. They sure cared for her a lot. She went back inside only to hear a knock on the door a few seconds after.
"Did they forget anything?" She questioned herself, wondering why they had come back so soon. Yet as soon as she opened the door, she felt regret.
"Hey…" Said a calm yet manly voice as he saw the girl opening the door. Sango tried to close the door again, to no avail, Bankotsu placed his foot in-between. "Wait, I'm not here to cause you any harm, I just want us to talk. Honest."
"You and I have nothing to talk about, please leave before I call my friends." Sango tried her best to close the door, but Bankotsu was just way too strong, and she knew he wasn't even using all his force, he was just maintaining the door from closing with his foot.
"Please, just hear me out. Come on, you don't even have to invite me into your house, I can stay out here." Sango stopped trying to push the door close. If he wasn't expecting her to welcome him inside, maybe he wasn't really there to harm her just as he had said. Sango opened the door just far enough for her to go outside, pushing him.
"Speak…" Was all she said as she leaned against the door. He stood in front of her dumbfounded.
"You're really going to hear me out?" Bankotsu was confused yet happy that she trusted him, even if it was a little.
"Hurry up and say what you have to say, it's a cold night." Sango said as she rubbed her crossed arms with her hands. Bankotsu took his jacket off and placed it over her shoulders, dumbfounding her this time. She looked him straight in the eyes, trying to figure him out. Why was he so nice to her one minute and a total asshole the next? What was his deal? "I'm not going to deny your jacket just because it is cold outside, but don't think that I don't detest you." Sango said as she placed her arms into the jacket. Bankotsu only chuckled, admiring how gorgeous she looked in his jacket.
"You look really good in it, like wearing your boyfriend's jacket, don't you agree?" Sango scanned herself and was about to take the jacket off but Bankotsu stopped her by placing his hands on her shoulders. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Don't take it off, you'll catch a cold."
"Look, I don't know what you want here but it's late and I have school tomorrow, so if you don't mind, please get to the point. What exactly do you want to talk about?" Bankotsu took a step back and took a deep breath.
"I love you." He said it. He really said it. What was up with him feeling so nervous? When was he ever like this? Why did she make him feel so not him? Sango slowly took his jacket off, handed it back to him and made her way into her house, locking the door behind her. Leaving behind a confused and stunned Bankotsu. 'What just happened?' He questioned himself as he looked at the closed door. "Sango? Did you hear what I said?" He asked as he knocked on the door a couple of times. "Hey, Sango?" He knocked again, but there was no answer. "I'm not giving up!" He added as he walked away not wanting to pressure her too much. He had to understand her; it was too much for her to take.
Sango stood against the door, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Had she heard correctly? Did he say he loves her? But why all of a sudden? Should she have waited to hear more of what he had to say? But he said those words too sudden, she didn't know how to react. She allowed herself to slide down to the floor. "I can't deal with this right now." She said with a sigh.
Sango's alarm went off, she stretched her arms and legs, still feeling exhausted. She had fallen asleep in front of the door, waking up in the middle of the night to almost literally crawl to her room and into her bed. Remembering what happened that night she covered her face with her blanket. 'Did Bankotsu really confessed he loved me last night?' She questioned herself as she slowly uncovered her eyes. Turning to look at her alarm, she knew she had to get up. She sighed. "How am I supposed to face everyone now? They'll know somethings up. Will I be able to tell them about last night? Argh! I hate this." She threw her blankets to the side and rapidly got up. 'I need to take a shower.' Sango got ready for school as she usually did, hoping to have no drama today. Soon after she heard a honk from down stairs, her friends where there to pick her up. Grabbing her backpack and keys she walked out the door. "Morning." She greeted as she got into the car and before anyone could say anything she commented. "Yes, he was here last night, no he didn't harm me." Koga looked at her from the driver seat. Ayame sitting at the passenger seat. InuYasha and Kagome in the back seat with her. Everyone just started at her in awed.
"And you didn't call any of us why?" InuYasha questioned, breaking the dumbfound.
"He didn't stay long." Was Sango's only response. "Come on, we're going to be late for school and I want to have breakfast." Everyone took a last glance at Sango before Koga drove off and towards school.
Sango, InuYasha and Kagome had their first class together, even if they were in different semesters and studying different careers. First period was Speech and it had students from mixed careers in it. "Alright class before we begin, today we have a new transfer student joining our University, those of you on your 4th semester and studying Psychology please help him feel welcome. Mr. Bankotsu please come on in." Kagome, InuYasha and Sango all looked at each other in disbelieve. What in the world was he doing here?
'He's even in the same career and semester as me…' Sango thought as she saw Bankotsu walk into the classroom and stand next to the professor.
"Please Mr. Bankotsu give a brief greeting." The professor signaled for Bankotsu to introduce himself to the rest of the class.
"Good Morning everyone, my name is Bankotsu, I am the youngest of Seven Brothers. I transferred from XZY University in search of the Love of My Life." That last part made all the girls in the classroom squealed.
-I'll be the love of your life. I'm right here, you don't need to continue your search. I can't believe you would come all the way here for me. - A lot of girls commented out. Bankotsu cleared his throat.
"Let me rephrase that, I'm here pursuing the love of my life, my one and only, Sango. She may not feel the same about me, but I will make her fall in love with me as much as I am with her." All eyes turned to Sango, who by now had both her eyes and mouth wide open. InuYasha and Kagome soon texting Ayame and Koga the news. All the girls let out a disappointing sigh.
"Oh my, oh my… how romantic it is to be young. Ms. Sango is a very respectful and honored student, make sure you make her happy young man." The professor added as she too squealed like a young high school girl. "Now go on, go on, take a seat as I have another announcement." Bankotsu took the empty seat behind Sango, who was indeed still in shock. InuYasha and Kagome keeping their guards up. "Now we also welcome back one of our own, Mr. Miroku who had been in the hospital this past few days for unknown reason. Please Mr. Miroku come on in." At the mention of Miroku; Sango, Bankotsu, Kagome and InuYasha all turned their attention towards the door. Seeing the very familiar man walking in.
"It's good to be back." InuYasha and Bankotsu both growled underneath their breath.
"Why is he back so soon?" InuYasha questioned under his breath.
"It doesn't make any sense; shouldn't he still be bruised up?" Kagome added.
"Somethings not right…" Sango commented soon after. Again, Kagome and InuYasha texted Ayame and Koga allowing them to know everything that was happening in such a short period of time.
"So, this is the famous Miroku." Bankotsu smirked seeing how he had absolutely no competition. There was a small knock on the door, another professor calling onto the Speech professor.
"Students, please behave, I'll be back in a minute." Miroku smirked as he saw the teacher leave. He made his way towards Bankotsu and stood in front of him. Sango not even wanting to move an inch.
"You seem to be in my seat." He said menacing. Bankotsu looked up at him and chuckled, not making a single attempt to move. "You confessed your love to my girlfriend too." InuYasha, Sango and Kagome all turned at his comment. And just as InuYasha was about to dash at Miroku for still considering Sango his, Bankotsu stood from his seat, grabbing at Miroku's neck. Sango gasping.
"Dare call her yours again and I'll tear you from limp to limp." Bankotsu hissed. His eyes turning red in anger. Miroku only laughed. Sango stood from her seat and grabbed at Bankotsu's hands.
"Let him go!" She yelled trying to free Miroku from Bankotsu's grip. Only making Miroku laugh even more. Bankotsu loosened his grip on Miroku. Miroku coughing a couple of time.
"See, she still only cares about me." Miroku smirked, but before he could turn to look at Sango who had just helped him out, a female's punch flew to his face. Sango had literally just punched him across the face. The small force and the act that caught him by surprise made him fall to the floor.
"Who the hell still cares about you, you fucking moron? I just didn't want Bankotsu to dirty his hands with the likes of you. You're not worth it, you piece of shit!" Everyone in the classroom sat in disbelieve and astonishment. A few second passed and all the girls in the room started to clap and cheer.
-You go girl. You tell him off, he never deserved you. You do love Bankotsu. – The cheers continued with more comments said here and there. Miroku stood from the floor and fast walked out the door feeling hatred and embarrassment.
"This isn't over!" He yelled before leaving the room. The teacher soon after walked back into the classroom, Sango and Bankotsu already back in their seats, no other words said. Ayame's and Koga's phone blasted from text after text from InuYasha and Kagome. Soon the class ended and before anyone could say anything, Sango grabbed onto Kagome and dashed out the door. InuYasha staying behind to stop Bankotsu from following them.
"What your deal? Why are you here?" InuYasha questioned the man in front of him. Bankotsu shrugged.
"I think I already explained that as I introduced myself." InuYasha wasn't buying it.
"We all warned you to stay away from Sango, if you know what's good for you, you should do as said." InuYasha walked away to catch up with the girls.
"I'm not one to give up so easily." Bankotsu said under his breath as he walked towards his next class. From the corner of the room a long-silver haired girl smirked from ear to ear.
"This is getting quite interesting. I already took Miroku from you and transformed him into a douche now its Bankotsu's turn. You will never be able to be happy, my dear Sango." The girl grabbed her stuff and left the room.
