-Chapter 3: Give us a chance-

The day went by as usual and although Bankotsu had all his classes with Sango, he made no attempt to get close to her. Miroku had disappeared the rest of the day after the morning incident. School was finally over, and Sango couldn't have felt more relieved.

"FINALLY!" She screamed out as she and her friends walked towards the parking lot. "I'm so exhausted."

"Sango…" A male voice called out from behind the group. The guys were the first to turn only to see their once best friend.

"What do you want?" Koga asked as he signaled the rest of the gang to continue their way.

"I just want to have a word with Sango." Miroku simply replied as he saw how Sango didn't even turn back to look at him.

"She has nothing to talk to you. If I were you, I would stay as far away from her as possible. InuYasha and I don't want to hurt you again." Koga walked away, not allowing Miroku to give him a response.

'Damn…' Miroku thought as he walked the opposite direction.

The ride home was silent. Sango was the first to be dropped off. Kagome and Ayame asked to stay with her but she declined. Sango really wanted to be alone today, too much had happened and she really did feel exhausted. She just wanted to sleep the rest of the day. Half an hour of her being home, there was a knock on the door. She hesitated to open, knowing that it was either Miroku or Bankotsu at the door. She finally opened.

"What?" She questioned with no emotion on the tone of her voice.

"I stopped myself from getting close to you all day long so I wouldn't cause any more commotions at school… can't you be a little bit nicer?"

"Oh wow, am I supposed to thank you for that?"

"Well…"

"What do you want, Bankotsu?" Sango soon interrupted Bankotsu before he could say anything else before getting to the point of his visit.

"I want us to work." He simply and directly said.

"There is no us." She simply and directly replied.

"There could be if you give me a chance." Bankotsu leaned on the porch's column.

"You don't even know me."

"I know that what I feel for you is love."

'Why is he being so direct? Is he even serious?' Sango sighed. "You speak so easily of love… do you even know what it means to love someone? How can you love a person you barely even know? I'm not one of your toys either and pretty words will not get to me, so stop playing games as I will not fall for any of them." Sango was about to close the door on his face again as she did the night before, this time he stopped her.

"I'm not letting you leave me half way into the conversation this time. I want you to hear me out, please." Sango sighed once more, knowing she was going to regret what she was about to do next. She fully opened the door and signaled Bankotsu in. No words were said until they reached the living room, they sat opposite of each other.

"My parents taught me not to judge a book by its cover. So, go ahead, speak up and say what you have to say. If I feel a hint of bullshit in midst-way I will kick you out. Agreed?" Sango crossed her legs on the couch and sat back.

"Remind me to thank you parents." Sango didn't seem amused. Bankotsu cleared his throat. "Alright… well, guess its best to get to the point." Sango only raised her eyebrows as if he had hit the spot as to what she wanted from the very beginning. He cleared his throat again, why was he having such a hard time to open-up now? He took in a deep breath and slowly let it out. "I know I'm in love with you for the simply reason that I'm a vampire." Bankotsu leaned back. There he said it. Sango looked at him, even much more confused.

"That's it? That's your reason? That's what you had been wanting to tell me all this time? That's it?"

"Well, yeah."

"Get out." Sango stood from her seat and pointed towards the door.

"Wait, why?" Bankotsu straightened himself on the sofa but made no attempt to getting up. Not yet. Sango massaged her temples.

"-I'm a Vampire. - That's your reason?" She sat back down. "You have been so open about loving me, yet your reason is such a stupid one and an unreliable one too. I would have believed you more if you had said something like… -I fell for your eyes, the way you sat lost at the bar. As I got to see you more often your broken heart intrigued me. I felt the need to be the one to glue it back together. Your lips, your smile, wanting you to see me only. - Argh I don't know, something in those line! But no, -I'm a Vampire- that was your reason." She threw her arms in the air. Stood from her place and made her way into the kitchen, leaving a confused Bankotsu still at the living room. Bankotsu looked towards the kitchen doors, wondering what to do next.

"Sango…?" He called out, no reply. 'All she said, why couldn't I say that? She nailed exactly how I feel.' He leaned against the sofa, letting his head rest back and closing his eyes. "Everything you said… I'm sorry I couldn't explain myself in that matter, but you nailed it. The first time I saw you at the bar, you caught my sight right away, your gloomy eyes had a sparkle to them, I thought I was just feeling the need to feed on you, but now I know it was much more deep than that. When I spoke to you, your voice only reeled me, it felt like a symphony to my ears. Your slender body, there were a lot of hot girls there, but you stood out the most, your shiny skin well-toned. Man, your arms and hands, I wanted to run my hands against them, I wanted to hold you hands so bad, I love your hands so small and tender. I unconsciously made my way to your house, seriously, I had not planned to come here that night. Last thing I knew I was already in your room; do you know how hard it was not to sneak up on you in the shower? I surprised even myself with how much of a will power I had at that second. When you told me, what had happened between you and that Miroku guy, something inside me changed, screaming at me that you were someone that needed my protection. Unfortunately, the beast in me came out and I ruined the mood between us, maybe if I hadn't done that to you, you would have had a different opinion of me, maybe. That night I spent it at the beach, it was the only place I could think of that was farthest from this place. I'm sorry for the pain I caused you that night, I have regretted it ever since. I don't know how to truly express my feelings for you and thus why I can only hurt you when we meet, hence that morning at iHop. Again, I'm sorry. If you haven't figured it by now, I transferred schools just to be able to be near you, for you to see that I'm not a bad person. I want to give you time to get to know me, and I felt that seeing you everyday was a good way to do so, even if your friends don't allow me to go anywhere near you. I know I'm in love with you because I'm a vampire, but I also know I'm in love with you because every time I see you my heart skips a beat, I loose my mind and I feel the need to have you by my side. I don't want any other man to look at you or touch you. I Love You, Sango. I honestly do." Bankotsu had felt that in midst of his explanation Sango had walked towards him and stood by his side, he never opened his eyes thou, he just felt her near. Sango surprised him with what she did next. She pressed her lips on his, causing Bankotsu's eyes to shoot wide open. He slowly closed them back as he placed his hand behind her head making the kiss much more intense. As they slowly parted their eyes opened, looking straight into each other.

"Was that so hard?" Sango questioned as she walked back to take her seat opposite of him.

"Does this mean…?" He was interrupted.

"This means nothing. You and I, its never going to happen."

"But the kiss?"

"Look at it as a goodbye kiss." Sango showed no emotions on her face. Bankotsu was beyond confused. Bankotsu stood from his seat feeling mad, no, furious at Sango.

"Why are you denying your feelings?!" He screamed at her. "You know you love me too! You know as well as I do that you want to be with me." He stood her up, grabbing her arms. "Please Sango, be honest!" He forced a kiss on her, this time as they parted, she slapped him across the face.

"Get the hell out of my house!" Sango pushed him away and ran up the stairs towards her room. Bankotsu growled in anger, but not because of the slap, but because she was denying her feelings.

"I'm not leaving!" Bankotsu ran behind her. "I'm stating here until you confess you love me too. You can't keep your feelings bottled up forever. I know that kiss was more than just a goodbye kiss." He stood at her bedroom door. He knocked a couple of times. Gentle knocks, he was mad, but not to the point of breaking her door. "Sango, please open the door." He knocked again, no reply. "I'm staying here. I'm not leaving this time. My place is at your side." He leaned against the door, crossed his arms and closed his eyes. "I can and will stay here all night if required." Still no reply. Time passed and Bankotsu dozed off against the wall. Sango slowly opened the door, looking around she saw the man sleeping on the floor. She kneeled next to him.

'He is quite handsome.' She saw the birthmark on his forehead again, the first time she met him, she had got a glimpse of it. Removing a few strands of his hair she was able to see it better. Her fingertips brushed at his skin; it was smooth. She looked at his lips and couldn't help but blushed a little remembering she had kiss him earlier that day. 'Why do you have to be such an ass?' She placed her hand at her chin, just staring at the guy. 'Liar…' She knew he wasn't sleeping by now, do vampires even sleep? "Hey get up. We both know you're faking it." Bankotsu opened his eyes and smiled.

"You caught me." He grabbed her wrist and pulled her into him. She was now sitting on him. He embraced her and dug his face into her neck. "Please, stop rejecting me. Give me just one chance, I promise you won't regret it."

"Bankotsu, I… I can't." Bankotsu released his hold on Sango and helped her up, all while having his sight to the floor.

"Sango… Is that really your final reply?" Bankotsu had hope in the tone of his voice. Sango only nodded her head.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't worry… I'll take my leave." Bankotsu gave Sango one last peck on the cheek before leaving her house. She stood in place for a few minutes wondering if she really disliked him that much.

Bankotsu stood outside of Sango's house, unsure where to go, he didn't want to go back home and admit defeat to his mother, soon all his brothers would know how he got rejected by a human. He didn't really care about his brothers; it was all about his mother. He wanted her to be proud of him for getting the girl of his dreams, for following his love interest. Yet here he was, a failure. Suddenly the front door opened.

"Bankotsu…" Sango ran up to him and pressed her lips on his.

"I knew you'd come to your senses." He pulled her closer a kissed her again.

"Maybe… maybe giving us a chance isn't such a bad idea. I don't believe that you're are in love with me, but I will believe that you're interested in me. With time maybe my feelings for you will grow and we will both realize if we will fall in love with each other or not. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, time will say it all."

"I'm ok with that. I know that I love you and I know that we are meant to be, but I'll give you the time necessary for you to realize that you love me too." He kissed her once more and gently held her in his arms.

"Sango!" A male voice yelled from the drive way. "What the fuck is going on here?!"

"Miroku…?"
