-Chapter 5: Danger
The gang was concerned as to why Sango didn't attend school today. She had texted them that she wasn't feeling well but denied anyone of them to go check up on her. Something wasn't right and the gang knew it. They all decided to go check up on her after school. As Koga pulled into the driveway, he and InuYasha growled.
"She wouldn't have…" Koga called out as he walked out the car and ran towards the front door, knocking furiously. "Sango, open up!" The rest of the gang were now by his side. Ayame by now had smelled what InuYasha and Koga were so mad about. Kagome being the only human among them didn't really understand their reaction.
"Sango!" Ayame yelled, knocking too on the door. Sango soon opened the door with confusion written on her face.
"Geez what's going on? Why are you knocking so menacing?" Sango questioned as the gang allowed themselves in. Kagome too was a bit confused. 'Good thing Bankotsu left already, it would have been chaos if he were still here.' Koga, InuYasha and Ayame sniffed the air.
"You gave yourself to that Vampire?!" Ayame questioned in anger. Kagome finally understanding their anger. Sango didn't know how to reply. How could they know? "We can smell your arouse from across the block and his too!" The gang was furious. So hard they tried to protect her and here she was getting herself trapped in his grip.
"It's not what you guys think." Sango said trying to defend herself. Technically she was still a virgin.
"It's not? Then why is your scent and his combined? I bet if we go to your room it will intensified there!" Koga was furious, he saw her as his own daughter and here she was, giving herself to someone that didn't deserve her. Kagome stood on the side, watching the three demons spatting at Sango, she wanted to speak up, but not yet. She felt she understood Sango a little bit more than the rest, seeing as she too was only human. She didn't rely on scents like the other three did.
"I'm still a virgin, ok. Nothing happened… well almost nothing happened. The point is, it didn't go that far." Sango didn't know how to explain herself.
"Should we be happy that it didn't go that far or what? The intend was there, wasn't it?!" InuYasha joined in. Had she forgotten what had happened with Miroku, how he and Koga had to pried him off from her? And now they couldn't be here to protect her from a larger menace.
"Look it's not like that… Miroku came over last night and Bankotsu stayed to protect me incase he wanted to come back…"
"That doesn't explain why both your scents are mixed together. You guys intended to mate, don't deny it, we can smell it!" Ayame was beyond mad, why couldn't Sango rely on them anymore, why did she have to go and get involved with a blood sucking demon?
"Guys, calm down… it seems there's something we're not quite seeing here." Kagome finally spoke up. "I've been watching Sango and Bankotsu interaction with each other from the very beginning, not relying on scent or instinct like the rest of you as I am only human, and I think I've seen the bigger picture." The three demons looked at the raven-haired girl. "Sango, you and Bankotsu… you're his eternal mate, aren't you?" Sango and the rest of the group all seemed confused.
"What's all this about eternal mate?" InuYasha questioned.
"I've done my research on Vampires. They can have as many sexual-partners through-out their life as they want, but once they find their eternal mate they can only see and cherish that one person be it a Vampire or a human. Of course, it is looked down upon if the mate isn't a Vampire, most of the time the other person is scarified." Sango allowed herself to fall onto the couch. Was that what Bankotsu meant by knowing he was in love with her because he was a Vampire. So, she's his eternal mate? Everyone looked at Sango.
"You didn't know?" Ayame questioned her. Sango only shook her head.
"He didn't tell you?" Kagome added. Sango again only shook her head.
"Then he's not serious about you!" Koga spat out.
"It doesn't work like that, Koga. If a vampire finds his mate, his other half, it becomes instant love. A desire to never leave that person. If the other person doesn't feel the same, it can cause the Vampire to commit suicide. For vampires to be with their eternal mate means their own existence of continue living." Kagome commented. "Sango do you love him?" Sango didn't know how to reply to that… she really wasn't sure how she felt about him. "Maybe that's why he hasn't mentioned it to you, about you being his eternal mate. He wants to give you time to figure out how you feel and not push you away if he comes too hard. He wants to slowly make you love him back." Everyone, including Sango just looked at Kagome in total aw.
"You're saying that blood-sucker actually has a heart?" InuYasha questioned in disbelieve. Kagome only nodded her head. She had really done her research, mostly because she was worried about Sango.
"I don't accept it. Even if he says he's in love with Sango, he doesn't deserve her. Sango can do so much better than him. Besides you said it yourself, most of the time the other person needs to be sacrificed as it is looked down upon for a vampire to be mated to a different species. I will not allow Sango to be that bastard's sacrifice." Koga was irritated just thinking of what could happen if she became his mate. The rest of the gang was in with Koga, they weren't going to permit anything to happen to Sango because of Bankotsu.
"Sango, you need to stay away from him from now on. Its going to be hard, but it is for your own good." Ayame sat beside Sango and patted her back.
"We really do want what's best for you." Koga too sat next to her. They really did seem like her parents. Sango nodded; she knew her friends were only looking out for her well-being.
"I need to see him one last time, though."
"What for?" InuYasha questioned. Was there really a need to see him again after knowing the outcomes of being with him?
"I need to ask him about the whole eternal mate thing… I need to reject him properly. He needs to know that he can't come looking for me anymore." The gang looked at each other wondering if she was going to reject him or keep on seeing him behind their backs.
"Fine, but… one of us will be with you when that happens." Ayame said as she stood from her place and looked down at Sango with that controlling mother look. Sango nodded.
"You can all be here if you want… but I will still reject him in private." The gang had to agree to her terms. At least they will still be near of anything happened.
"Will he be coming back tonight?" Kagome questioned. Sango nodded.
"Good, we don't have to wait too long then." InuYasha sat at a near sofa and crossed his arms behind his Sango only sighed.
'What a stubborn bunch.' Sango thought as she grabbed the remote and turned on the tv. "Geez at least someone order some food."
-With Bankotsu-
Bankotsu returned home only to take a shower and change his clothes. He was planning on going back to Sango's place as soon as he was done but someone unexpected, unwanted and uninvited was waiting for him in his room.
"I've been waiting for you, My Dear." Kikyo was laying naked on his bed. She stood up and walked seductively towards Bankotsu who was still standing by the door. "I can still smell that slut on you." She said as she caressed his cheek with her fingertips.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" He growled as he pushed her hand away, non-caring about the fact that she was completely naked in front of him. Compared to Sango, Kikyo didn't make his senses spike up at all.
"Come on Baby, you're going to tell me you don't have any desire towards me? Have you forgotten all that hot-sex we used to have almost 24/7?" She tried to throw her arms around him, but he pushed her aside.
"I remember. You were a person I loved with all my heart and I will never forget the moments we had. But that's just it, its all in the past and you are dead. Now the woman I love, the woman who is destined to be my mate is waiting for me, so please, go back to the grave where you belong." That only infuriated Kikyo, but she wasn't done with him yet. She had a plan and if Bankotsu was still the same man she knew back then; he wasn't going to refuse her proposal.
"Fine, I'll give up on you." She pretended to give in. "With one condition…" She added.
"Do tell." She walked up to him again and pressed her body against his.
"One last time, make love to me." She pressed her lips on his. He didn't push her away this time. She mentally smirked. She had succeeded. Bankotsu wrapped his arms around her waist only to push her away.
"No." Was his simple reply. That only made her anger increase. In seconds she had cooled down again and she smiled.
"Big mistake. You should have agreed to sleep with me tonight and I would have gone back to the land of the death. Since you rejected me, I will continue with the master plan. You will regret your decision. Mark my words. I was giving you the easy way out." And with that said she disappeared into thin air. Bankotsu allowed himself to flop down on the bed.
'Did I really make a big mistake? Could I have ended all this just by sleeping with her one last time?' Images of this morning's event flashed through his mind and he smiled. 'No. I know I made the right choice. Sango is the only woman I want to be with from now on.' Just the thought of Sango's naked body under him made his member harden. He needed to get back to her, the sooner, the better. Bankotsu finished getting ready, showered and changed. As he walked out of his room he bumped into his mother.
"Sweetheart, you seem happy… has anything new happened between you and that girl?" Mist smiled and placed her hand on her son's cheek. Bankotsu smiled back.
"I am happy, Mother. I now realize how much I love that woman. She still denies her feelings towards me, but I know with time she will give in to her own emotions." Bankotsu's eyes sparkled like those of an innocent young child.
"Don't pressure her Bankotsu. If you are certain she loves you, just let time take its course." Mist hugged her child and she was about to walk away but stop mid-way. "Remember what happens to those Vampires who get rejected by their eternal mate… be very careful not to come on too strong and scare her off." She continued her way.
'I know… they kill themselves.' Bankotsu made his hands into fits causing his nails to dig into his hands. A couple drops of blood dripping from them. He loosened up and push that thought aside. 'I know she loves me… she just needs time.'
Bankotsu stood in front of Sango's front door. He knew she wasn't alone. He could see the car on the driveway and perfectly smell everyone's scent. He took in a deep breath and knocked on the door. To his surprise the she-wolf answered the door. He raised an eyebrow. She only signaled him to walk in. He did as gestured. He searched for Sango as he made his way towards the living room. Yet she wasn't there. 'What's going on?' He questioned himself. He sniffed the house, she was somewhere in the house, he could smell her. The gang looked intensely at him as he stood in the living room, dumbfounded.
"Sango is waiting for you in her dad's study." Kagome was the first to break the awkward silence.
"And that would be?" Bankotsu questioned, he didn't know her house, he just knew her room and living room.
"Up the stairs the room after hers." Kagome replied. Bankotsu nodded. He took a last look at the rest of the gang, searching for any type of trap, nothing. He walked away slowly. He knocked on the room he was told Sango would be at, no reply. He knocked again. Silence. He opened the door and peeked in.
"Sango…?" She was there. Sitting on her father's desk, giving him her back. "Hey, what's going on?" Bankotsu was legit confused.
"Why didn't you tell me about me being your eternal mate?" Bankotsu's eyes widened.
"Would you have automatically fallen in love with me if I told you?" Bankotsu calmed himself down and sat in front of the desk. Sango still giving him her back. Sango didn't reply. "I wanted to take my time in pursuing you. I didn't want to force you into loving me and then for you to detest me. That would be the death of me…"
"Literally…" Sango interrupted.
"It seems you know all about it…" Sango turned to look at him. He seemed so serious and unbothered.
"So, you're ok if I don't fall for you?"
"I would be because at least you gave me a chance. If I fail to make you love me, then its on me. But I know I tried."
"I think I need some time to think all this through… its too much for me to take in now. Someone's life is at my hands. Its too big of a burden." Bankotsu nodded.
"It's not your fault I fell for you. You shouldn't feel guilty for not loving me. I will give you time to think, all I really ask for is for you to give us a chance and if at the end of the day you really don't love me, then don't worry. I will take my leave for now." Bankotsu stood from his place and walked out the door, but as soon as he closed it behind him, he heard Sango scream. He went back into the study only to find Sango in Kikyo's grip. The rest of the gang arrived in seconds.
"Kikyo…?" InuYasha questioned.
"You know her?" Bankotsu was confused.
"She dated InuYasha a while back but was two-riming him with some other guy… she was killed by the family member of that guy." Kagome replied. Bankotsu coughed a couple of times.
"Meaning I was being two-timed too. No wonder grandfather didn't hesitate to kill you." Everyone turned to look at Bankotsu. He was the other guy. Kikyo eyes laughed.
"Who would have thought that my two ex-lovers would know each other." Through all this Sango had become unconscious in her grip. Apparently, she had injected her with something.
"What did you give Sango?" Koga interrupted, uncaring about the past.
"Nothing, it's just a relaxant. She still wants her alive."
"Who?" Ayame growled out.
"You'll know soon enough." Before anyone could blink Kikyo disappeared with Sango. Everyone darted to were she stood… no scent. Not even Sango's was left. Everyone turned to look at Bankotsu.
"This is your fault!" Koga said as he sprinted towards the Vampire and grabbed at his neck.
"I have nothing to do with this. Whoever is behind Kikyo has been after Sango for a while." Bankotsu managed to spit out. Koga released him.
"Fuck… now what? We don't have any leads on where Kikyo could have taken her." Koga punched the desk in frustration. As if on queue Bankotsu's phone rang.
"Hello?" It was Jakotsu.
"I found the witch."
