After Anne found out the complete truth life seemed to be easier for Jacob. Well as good as it could be. She still had to go to school off the Rez. This thought triggered the fierce protectiveness of the imprint bond. He asked Sam if he could be the one to drive Anne to school as well as pick her up at the end of the day. Sam, having his own imprint, gave Jacob his permission. So, on Anne's first day of school Jacob was dressed and ready to drive her.

Anne had finished dressing and was eating breakfast when the knock came at the door. Looking up she smiled when she saw Jacob standing at the front door. "Morning," she smiled as he walked inside the house. He shared her smile as he walked over to where she sat. He bent down and kissed the top of her head lovingly. Anne was filled with a sense of warmth when he did this.

"Did you sleep well?" Jacob asked her as he sat beside her.

"Yes." she said as she looked into his eyes. "Thank you for driving me Jake."

"I am happy to do so. I have to make sure you are safe." He smirked before he saw Anne's smile turn into a frown. "What is it?"

"I don't want to go..." she murmured as she fiddled with her hands in her lap. "I won't know anyone there."

"Hey, hey..." Jacob whispered softly "You will be okay." His forehead pressed to hers gently as his hand reached up and caressed her cheek. "You know you can text me or call me and I will be right there." His nose gently nuzzled her own. "I will always be there for you. I swear it."

Anne leaned forward as her arms wrapped around his neck holding him close to her. Jacob's arms wrapped around her middle as he pulled her gently into his lap as he held her. His face was buried into the crook of her neck as he inhaled her scent. Anne did the same thing. She wanted to keep his scent in her mind. She needed to keep it there to help her get through the day. "Don't make me go..." she begged of him in a whisper. Her breath hitting the skin of his neck and sending shivers through him. "Please Jake...don't make me go."

Jacob felt his heart break as his arms started to draw her in closer. "I would keep you here if I could." He sighed softly "I don't want you away from me. Especially there..." he growled softly at the thought. The Cullens were gone now so that much was good. But just being there where they were. He did not want Anne anywhere near their scent. That place wreaked of them.

"Come on sweetheart..." he murmured to her softly. "We don't want you to be late on your very first day." He gave her a half smile before he grabbed her backpack. He turned around and saw Anne with a frown on her face. God how he hated that. "Come on baby..." Jacob knelt before her. "Smile for me?" He begged gently as he held her hands.

Anne looked at Jacob and instantly melted when she looked into those deep dark pools he had for eyes. Slowly the sides of her mouth turned up and she smiled. "There is my girl." Jacob smiled before kissing her cheek. Anne's cheeks blushed as Jacob got up and helped her up. He picked her up into his arms and carried her to the car. As always he helped her inside as gently as he could. Her leg stretched out on the bench seat as she leaned back against Jacob. She did not want to go to school in Forks.

Anne could not deny the feeling of dread that swirled around in her chest the closer they got. Her chest felt tight and heavy while her stomach felt pained. She held onto Jacob's hand tight when she saw the sign. "Forks High School", the very name glared at her as they crossed the perimeter line into the main parking lot. Her throat clenched making it harder to breathe when she saw all the students staring.

Jacob got out of the car and then to her door. He sat her crutches against the side of the car before helping her out. "I'll be here right when school ends Anne," he smiled but soon frowned when he noticed the look of distress on her face. "What's wrong?"

"I don't like it. It doesn't feel right."

"I know," he said softly as he gave her a hug. "Don't you worry everything will be alright" he was trying to not only reassure her but himself as well. He gave her a gentle smile as he helped her out of the truck. Once she had her crutches steadied she sighed and smiled up at Jacob. "You will do great. Knock em dead babe." he smiled as she returned it before she started to crutch her way up to the steps of the school.
