MY LAST NAME

Chapter 25

As Draco shook Harry's hand firmly, he flashed a small smile and avoided eye contact by awkwardly staring anywhere except in the eyes of Harry. This just didn't feel right. He wanted it to, so much, but it just didn't. For years, Draco had been taught to hate Potter, that he was the villain in the whole fucked up situation at Hogwarts. And somewhere deep down, he still felt that; it's almost like he was conditioned to feel that way towards him. And he needed to snap out of it and get over himself.

"So, where to?" Hermione's was bursting with happiness and pride as she stood with a light grey beret perched on top of her wavy mane. Her eyes glistened as her nose turned a gentle red from the cool northernly air.

"Well we have the car just outside, we'll go back to ours and drop all your things off, freshen up and then we should make it in time for our dinner reservation." Ginny explained with a warming smile, holding onto Harry's hand.

"Ah ok, sounds brilliant. You ready Draco?" Hermione looked up at Draco who stool tall yet looked like he was lost in his eyes. He looked down and gave her a gentle nod, gripping the handle of his suitcase.

They all made there way out and towards a dark blue minivan. It was a smart design, but the whole back row was taken up with children accessories including booster seats, bags full of toys and blankets with cartoon characters on them. They loaded the boot before Harry got behind the wheel and pulled out of the stations car park. It took them about 20 minutes to reach their house, which Draco recognised from the time he spent there last year. He sat awkwardly in his seat remembering the conversation he had with Harry not that long ago, and how Harry really wasn't doing as well as he was coming across to Hermione. Draco looked at the back of Harry's head, his hair brushed neatly to the side and wondered if Hermione had any idea that he was still very much recovering from their time at Hogwarts.

Harry pulled onto the drive and pulled the hand-break jerking the car slightly to a stop. They all climbed out and unloaded the luggage from the boot.

"Oh Harry and Ginny, what a beautiful house you have! Exquisite!" Hermione repositioned a heavy shoulder bag whilst looking up at the tall town house.

"Oh well, we've managed to keep the top floor child-free, so that's where you'll be staying." Ginny laughed and pulled her keys out of her bag.

"Where are the children? I haven't seen them is such a long time." Hermione followed Ginny and left Draco and Harry to walk awkwardly behind in silence.

"They're at mums, but just for tonight. Thought it would be nice for us to have an adult only night." Ginny smiled and opened the door, welcoming in Hermione and Draco into her wonderful home.

Hermione walked in and looked around the tall hallway. She looked at the colours, mixtures of reds, blues and oranges made up the tiles and curtains of the property. The bannister leading up the staircase was painted different colours but in a stylish way. The ceilings stood tall and grand and the house radiated warmth and comfort.

"Oh my gosh, I love it. I forgot how wonderful this place was." Hermione trailed off and all of a sudden realised why she hadn't been for so long... her anxiety had always seemed to get the better of her whenever they had planned for her to visit.

"If you both follow me, I'll show you your room, well floor.." Ginny giggled and started to climb the stairs. Both Hermione and Draco followed, carrying their luggage as they did. They climbed two levels and stopped on the third.

"Gosh, I hardly ever come up here, can you tell?" Ginny laughed clearly out of breath.

"We save the third floor for guests." She opened up the door at the top of the stairs and the lights automatically turned on. There was a spacious bedroom, vintage and very much like Hermione's flat. The back wall was painted a deep maroon whilst the others were decorated with a faded cream floral paper. The bed was in the centre of the room, and was a four poster. The cushions and throws made it look like a cloud, and this was also a mixture of different colours and textures. In the other room there was a large bathroom, modernly fitted with a free standing copper bath. Candles dotted around the room filled the air with beautiful scents and atmosphere.

Hermione gazed in awe.

"Oh Ginny, this is just too beautiful. Thank you so much" Hermione squeezed Ginny in a tight embrace before she started to leave.

"We shall wait downstairs, let us know when you're ready and we'll call a taxi." Ginny left and closed the door behind her.

Draco walked further in and towards a small round window that stood above a large chest of drawers. He looked out and realised he could see the sea from where he stood. He smiled and buried his hands in his pockets as he heard Hermione search the rooms and admiring the decor.

"This is just beautiful. Gosh I am so glad you decided to come." Hermione threaded her arm through Draco's and rested her head on his arm.

"I love you." She sighed happily. Draco took her hands and looked down at her, he loved her too. So much, and this meant a lot to her so he was going to have to just suck it up. He smiled and placed a delicate kiss on her lips. He lingered slowly, she could feel his breath and it drove her crazy.

"I love you too, so much." He kissed her again and she fell into him. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she fell into a deep embrace, as Draco's lips found her neck, Hermione heart started to pound. She pulled away and caught her breath.

"They, t-they are waiting for us..." she looked at Draco's longing eyes and smiled.

"Get changed, or we're going to be late." She slid away and into the dressing room.

Draco smiled and sighed before unzipping his suitcase.

"I've just left them to get changed, darling are you ok?" Ginny looked at Harry and saw his expression. He sat at the kitchen table with a single whisky in his hand. His foot tapping repeatedly on the leg of his chair.

In honestly Harry didn't know how he felt. He thought that it would be easy, to do something that would make Hermione happy, and she clearly was happy, but he didn't quite understand still. He didn't accept that it was Draco Malfoy dating his best friend. And after everything - everything - they'd been through? He just couldn't fathom.

Harry shook his head and necked his drink standing up and walking over to the drinks cabinet.

"Harry, please don't." Ginny sounded weak, but was tired with Harry's behaviour. She has been gobsmacked when Harry had returned from his coffee with Hermione and his news of their guests. But she loved and trusted her husband so that's all that mattered.

Harry stopped in his tracks and gripped the glass tight in his hand. Ginny walked and placed a gentle hand on his back, resting her head on his arm.

"I'm sorry, Ginny." Harry whispered and continued to pour a drink.

Draco stood and fixed his tie in the mirror. He wore a slim fitting black trousers with a crisp white shirt and black tie. He has brushed his hair back and waxed it so it stuck smartly to the nape of his neck. He looked across hearing the door of the dressing room open and his eyes laid on Hermione looking the most beautiful he had ever seen. She wore a silky light pink dress that hugged her figure and dropped just past her knees. Her hair was curled and fell loosely down one shoulder. Her lips were pink and her eyes popped like every night star had been caught and trapped in them. She wore some delicate silver heels and finished it off with a white leather jacket sitting on her shoulders. Draco struggled to find words.

"W-woahow" Draco stared in total amazement.

"You look amazing Hermione, truly." Hermione smiled and looked up at Draco, walking slowly towards him.

"You look handsome also Mr. Malfoy." She smiled and kissed his cheek. "But thank you. Shall we?"

Draco grabbed his black coat and followed Hermione out and down the stairs. Once at the bottom they made their wait to the front door, where Ginny and Harry stood. Ginny wore a dark green dress and Harry wore dark jeans and a shirt that wasn't tucked in. Hermione looked and noticed Harry's eyes were red. They all silently made they way out to the taxi, no one expecting what was to follow that evening.
