Well then. I don't really know what happened, life just gets on top of you I guess. Having rewatched Our Girl recently I was inspired to write lots of new little snapshots, the first of which is below!
Has anyone seen the new series yet by the way? I do love Georgie but she's not Molly and our Charles isn't really the same without his Molly either… Anyway! I'm hoping to get a few of these up over the next few days, I hope everyone still loves Molly and Charles as much as I do! Enjoy xxx
Charles had to meet Molly's parents at some point…
The first few days after their surprise reunion on the doorstep in Bath Molly and Charles didn't even leave the house, much preferring to spend their time alone getting reacquainted. But by the end of the third day Molly had become resigned to the fact that she and Charles would have to part. She sat contemplating this over a glass of wine wrapped in one of Charles' dressing gowns whilst the man himself cooked their evening meal.
"I'd better go back to London tomorrow." Molly almost whispered and she stared into her wine glass "It's just I came 'ere straight from Brize and my mum might gonna start worrying soon."
Charles looked up at her and he stirred the sauce into the pasta that he had just drained
"That's ok my love, I can drive you there." Charles replied as he began to spoon the pasta into bowls
Molly looked up at him surprised
"You don't have to do that, I can just get the train, it's fine honestly!" Molly said, as if she were horrified at the very idea
Charles laughed at her slightly as he carried the two bowls of steaming pasta over to where she was sat at the breakfast bar. He kissed her on the forehead before placing her food down gently in front of her
"Why would I let you do that?" Charles asked her gently
"It's a three-hour drive Charles! I don't need you to do that for me…" Molly almost exclaimed
"I know you don't, but I want to. I can drop you off at home and then amuse myself for the day in London then we can either drive back here or I can find us a hotel. I could do with some more Rosabaya capsules anyway." Charles replied, refilling Molly's wine glass
"If you're going to go through that much effort you might as well meet my bleeding family, I had better apologise in advanced for them though." Molly said resignedly
"Don't be silly" Charles replied, "They're a part of you and I promise you I will still love you just the same even after meeting them."
Molly paused, her fork hanging almost comically in front of her mouth
"And before you say anything Molly, yes I did mean what I just said. Of course I love you, you're the last thing I want to see remember." Charles said smiling at her almost starry-eyed expression "Now hurry up and eat, I have a three-hour drive ahead of me tomorrow, we need an early night Miss. Dawes!"
Molly was speechless, she just grinned at Charles, trying and struggling to find a time when she had been so happy.
The following morning after a 6am start and a drive that took nearer to four hours rather than the promised three hours accounting to the fact that Molly had insisted that they stopped for breakfast, Molly and Charles had arrived at her parent's house.
"Listen, before we go in, I just wanted you to know that no matter what bullshit comes out of my dad's mouth I love you." Molly whispered as they walked up the stairwell
Charles grinned and pulled her hand to make her stop before kissing her very gently
"I promise this is all going to be absolutely fine." He mumbled against her lips before pulling away "Now come on Dawsey, I bet everyone is dying to see you!" he added pulling her up the stairs with him again.
When they arrived at the top of the stairs and walked towards her front door Molly had barely had chance to catch her breath when the door burst open and Belinda came running out towards her and enveloped her in a massive hug
"My girl, come back to me again! I'm so happy to see you sweetheart!" Belinda exclaimed
"I'm really happy to see you too mum." Molly replied whilst returning her mum's hug "Now listen 'ere," she said pulling out of her mother's embrace "This is…" Molly stopped and cursed herself silently. Yes, she and Charles had said I love you to each other, but she didn't know if Charles considered himself to be her boyfriend and it wasn't really something she wanted to ask him in front of her mother. Charles sensed Molly's panic and grinned broadly
"I'm Charles, Molly's boyfriend. It is an absolute pleasure to meet you Mrs. Dawes" Charles said smoothly, holding out his hand to Belinda
Belinda ignored his outstretched hand and pulled Charles into a hug
"Call me Belinda, it's so lovely to meet you. Come in, can I make you a drink?" Belinda said, practically sweeping Charles into their house
Molly rolled her eyes and followed her mother and boyfriend into her house. Dave and Belinda had clearly had some work done and the usual clutter that filled their living space had disappeared
"'ere mum have you had the decorators in?" Molly shouted through to her mum who was in the kitchen with Charles
"All your dad actually, he's been busy!" Belinda replied from the kitchen
Molly nodded to herself
"Speaking of dad, where is he. It's just gone ten so too early for him to be up at the pub."
"He's at work!" Belinda said coming from the kitchen followed by Charles and handing Molly a steaming hot cup of tea "I don't know what you said to him Molls but he's a changed man." She grinned broadly, "Now Charles, Molly's nan is going to be down in an hour or so, she's really excited to meet you!"
Molly rolled her eyes to herself, good news sure did travel fast.
Later that evening Molly was sat with her parents and her nan nursing a mug of tea whilst Charles played with her younger siblings. She watched him with a big smile on her face, something which didn't go unnoticed by her nan.
"You know Molls, I know I said you'd had your good 'un with that Smurf but you know what, I was wrong." Molly's nan said taking a drink of tea "You two are good for each other."
Belinda and Dave nodded in agreement and Molly just smiled.
