Sometimes it's good to catch up with old friends...
"So what do you think?" Molly asked as she walked out of the bathroom and into the hotel room they were in. She and Charles were about to go out to a black tie charity event that Charles has been invited to. Molly hadn't been to this kind of event before and wasn't really sure what to expect so was beginning to feel a bit nervous.
"You look fucking amazing." Charles replied, standing up quickly and pulling Molly into his arms. "These things are usually so dull, at least this time I get the pleasure of being there with the most beautiful woman on this planet."
Molly rolled her eyes at him and self consciously looked down at her dress. It was probably the most expensive item of clothing she'd ever worn, but she felt amazing wearing it so it was worth every penny. The dress had a plain black bodice with a puffy gold floral print skirt and she was wearing black strappy shoes and had a gold clutch bag under her arm. She had worried about her hair and makeup but had left her hair to fall naturally down her back and her make-up was classy and understated. There was a delicate dusting of gold eyeshadow on her upper lids, finished off with perfectly applied black eye liner and on her lips she had a gorgeous deep red lipstick.
"OK ok! Put your eyeballs back in! The taxi should be 'ere any minute. We don't want to be late!" Molly said with a giggle.
Charles continued to hold her tight and kissed her gently to avoid messing up her lipstick.
"I'm totally in inexplicably in love with you Molly Dawes." He murmured.
"Ditto." Molly replied.

When Molly and Charles arrived at the dinner venue they greeted with a glass of champagne before being shown very quickly to their table. Molly was overwhelmed with the extravagance of everything. The tables were beautifully decorated with magnificent centre pieces and there was candles and white flowers practically everywhere.
"You didn't tell me it was gonna be like this..." Molly murmured under her breath. "I feel well out of my depth." She added as a blonde woman was shown to the seat next to her. Molly noticed the woman looked as uncomfortable as she felt so she flashed her a supportive smile.
"Hello, I'm Molly. It's my first time at one of these things. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing!" she told the woman, who visibly relaxed when Molly spoke to her.
"Oh thank goodness!" she replied "I'm Louise. My husband dragged me along to this and like you said, I don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing. I don't even know where Matt is! He saw someone he knew from Pirbright and went over to talk! I'm so sorry to ramble." Louise finished with a hand over her eyes.
"No, don't worry about it!" Molly replied. "I'm Lance Corporal Molly Dawes but you can call me Molly. This is my boyfriend," she said referring to Charles "Captain Charles James. But feel free to call him what you like!"
Louise laughed as Charles frowned at his girlfriend before looking over Charles' shoulder and grinning.
"This is my husband now, Sargent Matthew..." Louise started.
"Geddings?!" Molly asked in disbelief, interrupting her.
"Molly Dawes?!" Matthew asked in a similar tone of disbelief. "What are you doing here?"
Molly didn't answer but stood up immediately to hug her former mentor.
"I have so much to thank you for." She whispered into his shoulder.
"I'm captain Charles James. Molly here is my girlfriend, I brought her with me as my plus one." Charles piped up in a clipped, almost jealous tone. Molly came back to her senses and pulled away from Matthew before going to sit back down next to Charles.
"Matthew was the corporal I did my basic training with. If he hadn't believed in me then I wouldn't have passed out and I wouldn't be a solider and I wouldn't have met you." She told Charles. "I owe more to him than he will ever know."
"I heard on the grapevine that you owe more to me than just a sparkling career!" Mathew said with a slight smirk before sitting down next to his wife "I also heard you got The MC." He said seriously "I knew you had potential in there Dawes. I was proud as punch when I was told."
Molly blushed and looked down at her hands.
"It was nothing really..." she mumbled. Charles grabbed her hand and looked over at Matthew.
"Molly is an exemplary solider, single handed the best medic I've ever worked with. She's bloody disobedient mind, but she's been doing some amazing work advising the Afgan national army recently. Molly is too modest to tell you all about it, I am however her proud former Co, but let's not go there!" he said with a laugh "But more importantly, I'm her very very proud boyfriend and I'm all too happy to tell you what the amazing Molly has been doing." Charles told Mathew who laughed into his champagne flute.
"Disobedient. Sounds like my Molly! Wait until I tell you what she was like at basic!!" Matthew said, grinning over at Molly who now was hiding her face in her hands.

Molly, Charles, Mathew and Louise spent the rest of the evening taking and laughing. They had dinner together and drank wine and by the end of the night Molly felt like she had gained two new friends.
"Small world innit." Charles said as he stumbled a bit whilst unlocking the door to the hotel room.
"You can say that again." Molly replied as she walked into the room and immediately took her shoes off, groaning in relief.
"Small world innit." Charles repeated with a teasing edge to his tone. Causing Molly to roll her eyes at him.
"Yes dear." She replied "Now let's get in bed. We're up early tomorrow meeting Matthew and Louise for breakfast. I'm sure you can't wait for part two of embarrassing stories about me!"
"I love meeting people from your past. Just highlights the amazing journey you have been on in your life. I can't wait to join you for the rest of it." Charles murmured, pulling Molly into his arms and kissing her. "I don't love anything as much as I love you though." He added.
"While I don't love the philosophical bollocks. I do love you." Molly replied, returning the kiss.

This one was plaguing me for a while, so I'm glad to. Finally have it out there. Let's not talk about the recent Our Girl finale though, I missed it and someone posted something on Facebook about it and I immediately freaked thinking something had happened to my CJ. Whilst I'm glad he's ok I am NOT ok with what actually happened. Not going to go too much into details in case people haven't seen it yet, but first they don't mention Molly even once and then they go and do that... Not cool Tony... Anyway, sorry for the ramble! Hope you all enjoyed, will be back to my daily updates now I'm home again with reliable internet! See you all soon, Em xxx
