It was 4:30 on a Saturday, both late teens were finishing up for their casual night together. Both were a little bit on the awkward side but excited for this none the less. Since big dances or fancy dinners weren't their kind of thing, star and Marco decided to just have a fun night. It was a standard movie and dinner(makes more sense to see the movie first as you can talk about it while waiting for dinner) but given how the two were feeling that was just fine. You could say a normal fun day for them was needed after everything they normally go through. Marco was making sure they had enough money for tonight(like it was even a problem for him anymore) while Star was thinking over their night plan in her head(especially the end).
"All set star?" Marco asked
"Set and ready for fun Marco." Star said as she grabbed her purse
The two headed out(Marco making sure his parents and sis were okay) and star summoned her cloud to dodge the traffic.
"All right, to the theater!" Star shouted as cloudy zoomed them over
The two looked over the glowing city, it was beautiful and peaceful to see its vibrant business in such warming lighting.
"All these years yet flying just never gets old." Star said
"I know, nachos and I always loved the chance to drag race so we could run it in their face who ruled the skies if the neverzone." Marco said
"Must've looked hot, especially with those abs." Star said as she was about to chew her shirt at the memory of his adult form
"Uh, Star?" Marco said as he pulled her shirt out
"Huh, what?" Star asked
"We're here." Marco said as cloudy zoomed to the ground
"Oh great, let's get some midrow tickets." Star said
The two bought their tickets and a lot at concession. It always seemed unusual to everyone but Marco how much popcorn star usually ordered. To be fair though it was always weird how fetish level to people of mewni were about corn. Thank goodness they didn't choose something like garlic as it'd be a toxic breath cesspool. The two got their seats and Star already has what looked like a glove made of butter.
"So what was the plot again?" Star asked
"Oh, mostly a cheesy action film with cutesy animal sidekicks." Marco said
"It's like my life story, you know minus all the prestigious and betrayal every other week." Star said
2 hours later
Star and Marco exited the theater, star throwing away 3 tubs of popcorn.
"You know that much butter is bad for your system." Marco said as Star almost puked
"I'm gonna regret it tomorrow, but I'm still gonna enjoy it tonight." Star said as she re summoned cloudy
The two chatted up over the movie as they head to Brittas tacos. Star did vomit from the butter but Marco didn't notice and she hit a seagull so that's a win win. They two arrived and ordered some usuals(Oscar still being bummed over his car but willing to give good service if it meant Marco tipping 650 bucks) before settling at their usual spot.
"Hmmmm, just like the ones we had after beach day." Star said
"Yah, except without the flying shopping cart wedgie and hole in someone's roof." Marco joked
Both had a brief laugh before knowing on some Hispanic deliciousness. The two were silent for a bit but still smiled and snickered a bit(primarily when star blew a cheese bubble). The two tossed their trash and summoned cloudy once more, Marco tossing Oscar an extra 50 for his service.
"Ahhhhh, this was just what I needed Star." Marco said
"So you feeling any better?" Star asked
"I do, this was great." Marco said
"Yah, felt like old times." Star said
"Yah, is that a bad thing given everything that…" Marco said
"Oh no, I didn't mean like that." Star said blushing a bit
The two had a moment of awkward silence before Marco finally said something
"Star, it was hard when we first broke up." Marco said
"Yah, it was." Star said in a depressing tone
"Maybe, we could give it another chance?" Marco said blushing
Star was shocked but couldn't help but feel something was inevitable.
"Marco, we did this because you wanted to get your mind off Jackie. Isn't it a little early, especially with us and all?" Star asked as she was still trying to comprehend this
"I gotta admit, it felt the most right when I was with you." Marco said as he peered at the city below
"Yah, it felt great to be together after everything with mewni." Star said back
The two blushed for a bit before looking at each other. It wasn't long after their recent events but they both felt it was right. They leaned in and kissed for the first time since that fateful day, all the pleasant memories and times together came rushing back. They leaned closer together as cloudy flew over the center of town. It felt like eternity before they stopped and starting blushing again.
"Okay, we can try again." Star said, realizing now was the perfect time
So should we head back home?" Marco said
"Actually, there's one last stop. Cloudy, take us to the spring." Star said
