The initially peaceful and joking mood turned cold at once.
Hibari Kyoya felt her spine stiffen and her hands reach out reflexively for her weapons. She felt a grin form upon her lips as she felt the Second-Gen Carnivore's fear pervade through her whole body, causing the small hairs on her skin to stand erect. She giggled softly in delight as she released her own fear, enough to protect herself from his own. Her eyes gleamed as she gripped her clothes tightly to prevent herself from attacking him in retaliation.
He is undoubtedly that Carnivore's son! She smiled, her body itching to fight him.
Unfortunately, his fear receded, and she felt her mood dampen a bit that she would not be able to make him fight her. A small sigh escaped her lips and she loosened the grip of her hands on her clothes.
"My apologies," he muttered. "I lost a bit of control."

"A bit?" Nurarihyon grunted before smacking his idiot son's head. "That's more than a bit!"
"Tch!" Nura Rihan clicked his tongue in annoyance as he rubbed the back of his head to alleviate the pain a bit. "I already apologized." He then turned his attention to his son's fiancee.
Her face remained impassive as she stared back at him. "Hn." Kyoya spoke up. "Who was she to you? That child?"
The second head's face darkened a bit but his fear remained stable. "She...She reminded me of my late wife...the one whom I married before Wakana became my wife. Her name was Yamabuki Otome."
He took a sip of his tea as he tried to regain his composure that was slowly breaking apart in front of them.
"When I first met that child...Rikuo had introduced her to me, saying that she was a new playmate of his. At first, I had been skeptical, she could have been dangerous to my son but I eventually loosened my guard against her. I could not help but slowly think that she might have been the child of Yamabuki Otome and another man." He paused and sighed in grief.
"For a moment, I was happy...and then that day came. Rikuo had left that child and I alone to pick you up at the gate. The kerria flowers were blooming at that moment and I ended up remembering the goodbye poem that Yamabuki Otome left when she had suddenly disappeared from my life. I recited the poem, feeling very reminiscent as I stared at the flowers, however, I was suddenly stabbed from behind the back."
He looked very sorrowful.
"Luckily, the two of you arrived and Kyoya managed to save my life with those yellow flames of hers."

"Any details you remember before the herbivore and I arrived?" Kyoya asked rather calmly.
The black haired nurarihyon closed his eyes to try and remember that moment.
"I vaguely remember her screaming in regret about something but I was too far out by then." He answered. "I'm sorry."
"Hn." She replied. "I'll deal with this. Recover well, Second-Gen Carnivore." She rose from her seat and was about to leave when he called out to her.
"Thank you, Kyoya."
"Hn."
And then she left.

"Whew~" Nura Rihan sighed out in relief. "She's really an unusual girl, isn't she, old man?"
Nurarihyon grinned in response. "Why do you think I picked her to be Rikuo's fiancee? She's pretty powerful for her age and has the backbone and ruthlessness that your son lacks."
"I raised him like that for a reason, pops." Rihan answered back. "I wanted him to be free of the shadows of this world."
"Don't be a fool. He has the blood of the Supreme Commander running in his veins, the darkness and shadows are an integral part of him." The old yokai told him in a scolding tone. "Besides, his thoughts about yokai are slowly being tainted because of those humans he's been with. Not to mention, your orders to your subordinates of hiding their yakuza side have led to his superficial thoughts regarding what yokai truly are."
Rihan scowled. "I know." But then his face softened. "But...just let him be a child for a little while longer."
"Fine. Do what you want, the clan is under your leadership after all."
The second generation head smiled a little at his father's response.

Hibari Kyoya was nearing her home when she paused in her steps.
She raised a hand and willed a bit of Sun flames to come into existence. "I suppose that practicing these flames, even if they weren't my primary or secondary ones, were indeed useful." Her eyes softened. She suddenly remembered her Family, she would miss them, despite how unfettered she had been in the beginning.
Lucky indeed. She thought as she dispersed the yellow flames.
