Anyway, sorry for the long wait for this chapter.
Chapter 17 Pokémon Shipwreck
The next morning, a rescue vessel arrived at the area the doomed St. Anne sank. Standing on top of the ship was Officer Jenny, and she was holding a bouquet of white flowers, and behind her was a male Police unit. They were present to perform a funeral service.
"At first, we thought all the passengers had gotten safely off the ship, but we had just discovered that seven people are missing. Ash, Misty, Brock, Naruto, Sakura, Jessie, and James, it makes all of us sad to think that these young Pokémon Trainers have had their promising careers cut tragically short. May these flowers honor your memory," Officer Jenny says solemnly. She tosses the flowers into the sea.
"A salute!" Jenny announces sorrowfully as she and the other Officers salute as the traditional military horn, for those who have passed on, was performed as the flowers soon sank to the bottom of the ocean.
Inside the sunken ship of the doomed St. Anna, Ash still hadn't woken up from hitting his head, but he could hear two worried voices calling out to him. "Hey, Ash, answer me, man," Brock's voice was the first that Ash could overhear.
"Wake up, Ash, wake up," Misty called out to her friend with worry in her voice.
'Ash, please wake up; we really need to get moving,' Pikachu uttered with concern as he was gently shaking Ash to wake him up, knowing that they needed him to see what was going on right now.
Before long, Ash finally opened his eyes and was shocked at what he was looking at right now. "What?" and found himself on the... ceiling? Both Brock and Misty were standing on the ship's ceiling too?
"Uh, would someone mind telling me why we're on the ceiling, and the ground is above us? Just what in the world happened?" Ash asked while sitting up, frowning as he looked over to see that both Naruto and Sakura were busy right now trying to do something. However, Ash was not precisely sure what they were doing.
His blurry sight became focused. He saw Pikachu looking relieved that Ash was okay as well as the rest of his friends.
"Just take a look out the window Ash," Misty said, pointing to the window behind her friend. "Trust me on this when I say we are in big trouble."
Ash turns to look, and his eyes widen in shock surprise. "Huh!?" he gets to his feet and moves to the window. "What? Fish swimming? This can't be right..." he looks in disbelief. "That must mean... that this ship has sunk!" he states at the realization of their current location.
They were deep underwater, and the ship was now entirely turned upside down. "Yeah, it must have happened when we were all knocked out," Brock said as he frowned at this, knowing that this was going to be trouble for them.
Misty just looked over to where Naruto and Sakura were thinking of what they should do; after all, Misty knew that they were both Ninja and would think of ways to get out of danger like they were in right now.
"So, what are we going to do then?" Ash asked as he knew that they needed to find a way to get out of the ship and fast before anything else went wrong.
"Well, Naruto and Sakura are talking on ways that we can get out while we waited for you to wake up," Misty said as she looked at Ash. "You were stuck on that seat when we woke up, but Naruto and Sakura got you down."
Ash just looked at her and gave a smile, knowing that he would have to thank them for helping to get him down. "No one was hurt, were they?" Ash asked as he knew that with what happened, they could have gotten seriously hurt.
"No, just knocked out really," Brock said as he looked at the others, and soon he saw that both Naruto and Sakura were now coming over to them.
Misty and Ash looked at the two Ninja as they were hoping that maybe they had found a way to get off the ship. "So, what are we going to do now, you two?" Ash asked as he looked at Sakura and Naruto.
The two ninjas shook their heads at this as they looked at their friends. "No, we're stuck in this ship and trapped," Sakura said with a sigh.
Ash just looked at the two and wondered why they couldn't use one of their jutsu to teleport them off the ship. "Wait, can't you use a jutsu or something to teleport us all off?" Ash asked, looking at the two.
"What no, neither of us have a jutsu like that. I mean, we were never even trained on what to do in this kind of a situation," Sakura said as she looked over to Ash and then to Naruto. "But when we get back, I think that we should make sure we tell everyone just in case something like this ever happened."
Naruto nodded and knew that Sakura was right in what she was saying. "Yeah, I agree with you on that, Sakura-chan," Naruto said to her, knowing that they needed to know what to do if they were ever became trapped on a ship that had capsized in the future, which they hoped would never happen again.
"So what should we do then? I like the water, and all but this is just crazy," Misty added as she looked outside with a frown on her face at what they should do to get off the sunken ship they are currently still trapped on right now.
Naruto and Sakura looked at each other and then towards the exit. "Well, the first thing is we should see how bad the situation is for us," Sakura said and with a frown and looked over to her friends. "Then we find a way off the ship."
Meowth, who had just recently woken up a while ago, was also looking around for a way out, but he was not having that much luck finding it. So he turned to see the two humans mumbling in their sleep. They were both sounding so relaxed under the fire that as he watched the two under the fire. Meowth had sweat-drops on the back of his head, looking at the two as they had no idea what was happening.
Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.
James: To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie & James: To denounce the evils of truth and love, to extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie sighs Jessie.
James: James, with a perfect tan,
They went back to mumbling, both in perfect sync with each other, even when both were unconscious. Hearing this made Meowth look at each other and sweat-drop again. They turned back to the humans when James started repeating the same word.
"...that blazing sun. Fiery and burning, and burning, burning..." he then panicked, "BURNING!"
"Something's really burning!" Jessie screeched as well, while both still had their eyes closed.
"You two picked a bad place for a nap," Meowth said to them cheerfully towards his two human friends. "It might be best for you two to get up now, seriously."
"Huh?" Jessie and James opened their eyes and saw fire above them. They got up screaming as their hair was currently on fire.
They ran to two different pipes that were spewing out water, putting out the fire in their hair. Once done, they made their way out of the identified kitchen and into the hall.
"Why is everything upside down?" Jessie asked as she looked around the sunken ship that both he and Jessie had now found themselves trapped within.
"The ship capsized and sank, while you two were sleeping," Meowth provided the answer standing within the doorway.
"Huh,/What?" the two blinked in surprise at what Meowth had just told them, both still shocked by the news and almost not even believing the cat-like Pokémon before them.
Once James had heard this, he soon began to panic. "We've got to abandon ship immediately!" James exclaimed in fear at what happened, knowing that this was terrible news for him, Jessie, and Meowth right now.
"I'm afraid it won't be so easy to get off while the ship's underwater," Meowth explained their location to the two of them while crossing his arms and closing his eyes.
"Ah! The ship sunk! We're doomed!" James panicked, holding onto his head at this, and his eyes closed, hoping that this was all just a bad dream.
"Calm down, James. I've already thought of a way to get us out of here," Jessie said and pulled out her Poké Ball. "Ekans, come on out!" She calls out and with a smile on her face.
'Yes, mistress, how may I help you?' the Snake Pokémon announces his arrival and shakes his rattle.
"Ekans, use Acid. Open a hole in the floor. We'll use it to escape," Jessie orders her Pokémon.
"Wait! Don't do dat!" Meowth shouts to stop them, knowing that this would cause them all trouble if Jessie did this.
Ekans follows his master's commands and launches Acid to the floor. The opening that Ekans promptly made, and then seawater came shooting out. Jessie and James were so surprised by this that they jumped onto the hole to stop the water.
"Didn't I tell you numskulls that we're sinking? You think we need another hole on this ship?" Meowth scolded them and the mistake that they had just made.
Then the force of the water had shot Jessie and James to the top and quickly filled the hall up with water, taking Team Rocket along with the underwater current.
A little later, Ash and his friends left the room they had woken up in and moved to another section of the ship. They had just stepped into the part that had the stairway in it as they saw that it had become flooded as well. The group all sighed and looked at each other, thinking about what they should do.
"What are we supposed to do? The ship is leaking everywhere?" Ash asked as he looked to his friends knowing this was bad for all five of them if they all wanted to get off the ship.
"We've got to keep calm. As long as there's still air here, it'll take time to fill up with water," Misty said to the group using what she knew.
"Sure, but we better not waste time escaping," Brock added, leaving the other two frowning in thought, knowing the great urgency they were all in.
"Well, we could either go up or down," Naruto thought aloud and looked over to Sakura and Misty, seeing both girls were considering some ideas as well. "But which one would be better then?"
"Well, we're sinking, then up would definitely be better. And if the ship is flipped upside down..." Ash started to think about what they should do to get off the ship they were all on.
"...the deck is below us," Ash turned to Misty as she pointed to where the deck and haul were. "And the ship's bottom is up above our heads," Misty says as she looks at Ash and then the others.
"Then, we have to swim down to the deck," Ash said as if that was the answer, and he soon looked to his friends.
'Ash is right,' Pikachu nodded his head in agreement with his friend.
On the other hand, Naruto frowned and looked at the water in thought, not at all comfortable with going underwater as he looked over to Sakura and saw that she was thinking about what they could do and knew she had the same thought that he was having right now. "But there's a problem with doing this though we could get lost down there or worse."
"Your right Naruto if we dive down to the deck and come across a dead-end, then we're done for," Brock said critically as he and the others all gave a frown at this and looked at the water that was before them.
On the other hand, Ash simply sweat-dropped, and he soon imagined himself unable to open a door underwater and slowly losing air. "So... how are we suppose to know?" the boy asked in fright, hearing what may happen.
Misty took out a Poké Ball with a smile on her face as she looked at her friends and smiled at them. "Hey, water's my specialty after all, so I've got this. Go, Goldeen!" she calls out her water-type Pokémon into the water.
Sakura just looked over to Misty and gave a smile. "That's a good idea, Misty, since Goldeen can go deep into the ship, Goldeen may help us find a way off the ship."
'Misty, what can I do for you? Wait, what's going on?' Goldeen asked upon materialization, seeing that her trainer and her friends were all on a ship, and, from what she could tell, they were all trapped within the sinking ship.
"Goldeen, dive down to the deck. If you find a way off the ship, bring something back from outside," Misty told Goldeen with a smile on her face.
'Okay, then, Misty, I'll find what I can and be back as soon as I can as well,' Goldeen replied and dived down into the water and out of sight.
After waiting for Goldeen to come back with something from outside the sunken ship, Goldeen knew that Ash and the others began to worry, unsure if Goldeen had found a way off the sunken St. Anne.
Ash knew it and been a few minutes since Goldeen left, so Ash turned to look at Misty for an answer. "What's taking Goldeen so long?" Ash asked as they stared at the water.
"I guess she can't find a way out," Misty answered with a frown and knew that this was bad.
"If Goldeen can't find a way out from the bottom, then we may have only one option left for us then," Sakura said as she looked up, knowing that would be the only thing left for them to do.
The others all looked at the pink hair girl and nodded and looked above their heads, knowing that would be the only way for them. "Yeah, your right, Sakura, but we shall wait to see what Goldeen finds," Misty said to her friend with a smile.
Then they noticed bubbles in the water. Then a shadow, then a man with purple hair and blue in the face, rose from the water looking like a water zombie, which just freaked Brock, Misty, and Ash out slightly.
"Aaaahhhh!" The gang and also Pikachu couldn't help but scream; this, in turn, caused them to all to go blue in the face.
Soon the man was thrown onto the stairway, along with a redhead woman and a Meowth, by Goldeen.
"Oh, great, it's Team Rocket!" Naruto and Sakura said in shock as they looked at the two members that had followed them ever since they came to this world.
"They look terrible," Brock mentioned as he looked at the three with a frown on his face seeing just how bad they looked right now.
"No kidding, I can't believe they were still on board the ship," Naruto said as he looked at the three that were now also trapped on the ship with them.
Sakura just sighed as she looked at the three and then at her friends. "Well, I can; it seems that no matter where we go, it seems that they are there with us," Sakura said with a frustrated sigh as she looked back at the three as she wondered what had happened to them.
Naruto nodded as he soon looked at Sakura. "So, what do you think happened to them?" Naruto asked with a frown on his face.
'They used Ekans to try and get out that why it was flooded,' Goldeen told her trainer as she looked back at the three.
Misty slapped her head, hearing this news from her Pokémon as the others then looked at her.
Ash just looked at her, wondering what was wrong. "Um, Misty, what happened?" Ash asked as he looked at the red-headed water Pokémon trainer.
"The idiots are the reason why this part of the ship is flooded," Misty said as she told them what Goldeen had said to her. The others all sighed and looked at the three.
The evil trio spits water from their mouths, not even sure what was happening around them, while Naruto and Sakura just looked at each other and then back to Team Rocket, knowing that this would be trouble for them.
"Prepare, prepare for trouble," a waterlogged Jessie started.
"Yes, make that double," and James finished. They then looked up and the twerps who were standing just above them.
"Huh, it's you!" they quickly got and took out their Poké Balls, ready to battle their enemies.
"We got you brats cornered this time," Jessie smirks at them, knowing that this was their chance to beat them for once.
"So, you followed us all the way to the bottom of the sea?" Brock glared at them, and both he, Ash, and Naruto had their Pokéballs ready.
"Wait a minute, a Pokémon Battle here would just…!" Sakura tried to say, but Jessie interrupted her.
"Be quiet twerp and give us all your Pokémon or we'll get nasty," Jessie said as she looked over to Sakura with a frown on her face.
Team Rocket threw their Poké Balls. "Ekans/Koffing!" Jessie and James called out their Pokémon. "Ekans!" "Koffing!"
"Here we go!" Brock, Ash Naruto said, throwing four Poké Balls, two from Ash, one from Brock, and one from Naruto.
The Pokémon that appeared were Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Eevee, and Geodude. They sounded off their presence as they were all getting called out; each one was ready to battle with Team Rocket.
"Alright, a match," Ash says in the zone, then was taken out of it as the ship began to lean to one side.
When this happened, everybody casually slid down to one side of the hall and crashed into the wall in a pile. "This ship will roll if we don't do something quick," Misty spoke out loudly as she looked at Ash and the others.
"Eevee, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Geodude, Koffing, Ekans to the other side of the ship!" Ash said urgently.
The Pokémon hurriedly complied and ran to the other side. Unfortunately, this caused the ship to lean in the other direction, and everybody else slid to the other side, and like before, they crashed into the wall in a pile.
"Hurry to the other side! To the other side, quickly!" Ash shouted, and the Pokémon did as told as Geodude was lagging behind the others.
"Geodude, come back to this side of the ship!" Brock called his Pokémon.
For a while, this continued two more times with the six Pokémon on one side and the ship still leaning. Misty then made a suggestion that had everybody turning to her.
"You guys call back your Pokémon!" Misty said, hanging onto the wall as she looked over to her friends, knowing that having a battle on a sinking ship was a bad idea.
Pikachu held onto Ash's left shoe with his right paw to keep himself from slipping again, while Meowth was sliding down inch by inch.
"But Team Rocket will beat us if we call our Pokémon back," Ash said, looking at Misty as if that was obvious.
"He's right," Brock agreed, not liking this as he knew that this was a bad idea.
"We can't worry about that right now, we've got worse troubles. Besides," Misty said to the boys and then looked at Ash with a smile. "You don't need the others to beat Team Rocket. If push comes to shove, you and Pikachu could always kick their butts yourselves," she smirks wickedly to Ash.
"Besides, there is Naruto and me as well, and I'm sure there are a few things that we can do to them as well, but right now, this is not the time or the place," Sakura added as she looked around.
Ash, Brock, and Naruto blinked in realization at what Misty was getting at. Then they smiled and nodded. Team Rocket didn't look at all thrilled.
"Right," the three said. Ash, Brock, and Naruto returned their Pokémon to their Poké Balls while still watching Team Rocket.
Seeing this, Misty looked over to Team Rocket and knew that they had to do the same as well. "Call your Pokémon back too. What's more important, a Pokémon Battle or your life?" Misty glared at Team Rocket.
The two adults glared in surprise and recalled their Pokémon. "I hate to say this but, she's right, good point," Jessie said with a frown on her face.
With the Pokémon returned to their pokéballs, the ship righted itself. Everybody breathes a sigh of relief.
Misty walked away from the group, and then she spoke up. "Okay then, so we all agree there won't be any battles for now," she then turns back to the others with a smile on her face. "Let's work together- huh!" she sees them glaring at each other.
Or, more specifically, Ash, Naruto, Pikachu, and Brock were smirking at Team Rocket, while Team Rocket glared nervously at her friends as all Misty and Sakura could do were sigh at this.
Sakura just looked over to Misty, with both girls shaking their heads at this. "I think that this will be much harder than we thought, Misty," Sakura says as she looks over to where the others are right now.
"I know, Sakura, but this is something we don't have time for; come on now, shake hands!" Misty then yelled at them, an angry vein on her head. They looked at her, then back at each other.
Jessie and Ash shook hands. "This is just a temporary truce until we get out of this mess," Jessie said.
"You better believe it, Lady," Ash said with resolve in his voice while not taking his eyes off her.
James and Brock shook hands, more like trying to squeeze the other's hand.
Meowth reluctantly stuck out his paw for Pikachu to shake and turned his head, as did Pikachu, both looking away from the other.
Meowth gulped as once in front of the cat, and he extended his right paw. Meowth hesitantly took it, and Pikachu soon let loose shock from his Thundershock to shock Meowth.
"Pikachu!" Misty tried to scold the yellow mouse, only to get met with a nonchalant shrug. Meowth was then quickly fried, and smoke rising from his fur.
Now all present turned back to Misty. "Well, that was easier than I thought it would be maybe you should try to do the same with Naruto and Sasuke I mean I know they need it with all the times that they have fought each other," Sakura said with a sigh as she looked at Naruto and gave a grin towards him.
"It's agreed. We work together," Jessie said as she still had a frown on her face as she looked at the five younger trainers that were standing before her and James.
"Now we gotta think of some way to escape," Ash stated and then looked over to Misty, hoping that she would have an answer on what they should do.
"So, anyone got any ideas on how we get off the ship that's underwater?" Naruto asked, looking at everyone and then over to Misty and Sakura.
Misty then looked smug. "Leave it to me. I forgot to mention I built my own St. Anne once." Misty said, smirking.
Everyone looked at the girl in amazement. "For real, she actually made one?" Naruto thought, looking at Misty with a surprise on his face, which soon started to grow much larger at this.
"Really, you did?" Brock asked, shocked by hearing this.
"It was a model." Misty elaborated, not seeing how the others looked at her, namely as she had her eyes closed as she still had a smile on her face.
Everyone then sweat-dropped as their amazement turned to disappointment. "Oh, great," Ash said very sarcastically as he looked over to Naruto. "I really thought she had built her own," Ash said with a whisper as he looked over to Naruto and Sakura.
Naruto nodded at this as he whispered back to Ash. "I know I was thinking the same thing as well."
"Well, it's something at least so hush up," Sakura said with a whisper as well as she looked at both Naruto and Ash. "Let's just hear what she has to say, okay."
"That's how I learned all about the structure of the St. Anne," Misty pointed out to the others as she looked at them all. "Since the way to the deck is blocked, we'll have to climb to the bottom of the ship. We'll cut a hole in the haul. That's how we'll escape," Misty explained.
"Well, at least it's a plan anyway," Ash says, with Pikachu nodding in agreement with what Ash was saying.
'It's the only plan we have right now,' Pikachu says, looking at Ash and then back to Misty.
"Alright, then we just need to get to the bottom of the ship then," Naruto said as he was looking around.
"Over there," Brock points to another stair that leads to the bottom. "Onix make a staircase!" Brock says as he summons his Pokémon. Onix appeared and grabbed the top opening with his mouth, creating a way for them to get out.
"Let's hurry," Brock states while running up Onix's back to the next floor, followed by Ash, Naruto, Sakura, and Pikachu.
Misty stopped and then turned to Team Rocket. "Let's move it or lose it, Team Rocket."
"Yes ma'am," the trio said and ran after them.
Everyone walked until they came upon an area with no lights, which meant the ship had lost power. "The lights are out. I can't see anything." Brock says as he and the others wish they had flashlights on them.
"Let me handle it. Charmander, I choose you," Ash called out his fire type.
'What's going on, and why is the ship upside down?' he said once he materialized. His tail flame lit up the area they were in right now.
Pikachu came over and rubbed the fire lizard's head, knowing that he needed to tell his friend what they would try and do, as Pikachu began smiling at his teammate and friend. 'Hey, bud, we need your tail-flame to light our way.'
Charmander nodded, and then he walked beside Pikachu and in front of the group being their light. "So, where does this hall lead to then, Mist?" Ash asked Misty as she looked at him, hearing the little nickname he just used for her almost making her blush.
Yet Misty just shook that thought off focused on what needed doing. "This corridor leads straight to the engine room. And that's where the haul is the thinnest. With a little luck, we should be able to cut our way through," she answered with a smile on her face.
They came upon a door and stepped through as everyone gasped at what awaited them. Sadly, the group noticed the stairway that leads to the other side of the engine room. They could see that it's become utterly destroyed, and there was a massive fire below.
"This is no good," Ash said, looking at the fire as well as the door that was on the other side of them. "It's impossible to cross over to the engine room," Ash said with a sigh and returned Charmander to his Poké Ball.
"It's too risky us using our chakra to walk on the ceiling, guys," Sakura said as she looked up as Naruto was looking over to the stairs, which had also collapsed, which meant that way ahead of them was now cut off as well.
"Yeah, and the stairs are gone as well, so we need to get over there somehow," Naruto said as he looked at the fire below them. "I wish one of us knew a water type jutsu. At least that way, we could put out the fire."
"Yeah, and jumping is a no-go as well, one wrong move, and then it's game over," Sakura added as she knew that someone like Kakashi would be able to do a jump like this, but she and Naruto were genin after all.
"Jessica?" James asks as he holds Jessie's hand.
"Yes, James?" Jessie asked as she looked at him.
"Whoever said, 'beauty doesn't last' must have been thinking of us," James said with a frown on his face as he looked over to Jessie.
"I'll always remember what a wonderful dresser you were," Jessie says in a sorrowful voice as she hugs him.
"So will I, Jessie," James whines as both Naruto and Sakura then look at him and then at each other, and the two couldn't help but give a sigh at this.
"And they're meant to be deadly," Naruto whispers to Sakura as she couldn't help but node at this.
"Yeah, tell me about it," Sakura added as she was working on a way that they could cross or at least so that their friends could get over safely.
"Will you two knock it off already, there's got to be some way to get off this ship," Misty yells at the two members of Team Rocket. "There must be some angle we haven't thought of yet," she crosses her arms to think.
Naruto and Sakura closed their eyes and arms crossed the entire time, while still thinking about what to do as well until an idea came to Naruto's mind as he looked at Ash and the others. "I've got an idea, Ash, why not use Bulbasaur."
Sakura nodded as she remembered one of the attacks that she had seen Bulbasaur use when they had first met him. "That's great thinking, Naruto we can use the Bulbasaur's Vine Whip to cross over."
Ash blinks and smiles brightly at what Naruto and Sakura have just said. "Great idea, you two!" he then threw a Poké Ball. "Bulbasaur, I choose you,"
"Alright, then Bulbasaur, can you use your Vine Whip! Extend your whips to the other side so that we can crossover there," Ash commanded with a smile as he looked over to his friends, who were ready to cross.
Bulbasaur nodded and did what Ash asked him. 'Sure thing Ash,' it extended its vines and latched onto the doorway. 'Okay, it's done, Ash.'
"Good job Bulbasaur," Ash praised his Grass-type Pokémon with a smile on his face.
"That sure was a great idea, Naruto, Sakura," Misty adds her praise as well. "And thank you to, Bulbasaur," Misty said as she patted the grass Pokémon on his head.
"Yeah, we can use the vines to cross to the other side," Brock adds, smiling.
Ash, then gestures for Pikachu to hop onto his back while still wearing his backpack. Pikachu did and hung on tight. Soon both Naruto and Sakura surprised Misty, Brock, and Team Rocket by running up along one of the two vines. Perfectly balanced the whole way and made it safely to the other side.
"Alright, here is how we do this," Ash got the other's attention as he looked at them, knowing that this was still dangerous for them all to do. "Let's get out of here. I'll go; first, Misty, you get behind me and hold onto me, and then Brock follows. We'll keep Misty balanced between us." the boy explains, as they all nodded and proceeded to walk carefully on the Vine Whip.
"Don't worry about Sakura and me okay Ash. We've done this sort of thing in training, so we should be safe, but, to be safe, I'll go ahead, and Sakura will go after Brock," Naruto said that way, they could make sure no one fell in.
"Okay, then," Ash says as he let Naruto go in front and then looks at Misty. "Ready?" He asked as he looked at the redhead and saw a node from her.
However, with Team Rocket, James looks down at the fire, shaking in fear at what he had to do as he began to panic.
"I can't cross that inferno! Jessie and Meowth, you go ahead, I'm staying here," James cried until he was slapped five times by Jessie. "James, James, James, James, James!" he holds the side of his face in shock at Jessie.
"Snap out of it. How long do you think you'll last on this side?" Jessie snaps at James and then calmly smiles at him. "Now, let's go, we'll cross together."
"Oh Jessie, please don't abandon me," James cried out in fear as he held her.
"Don't worry, I won't leave you," she says, as Meowth nods his head while keeping his eyes closed.
"Hey, Team Rocket!" Ash's voice was then heard by the three as they looked over to him.
The trio looked up and saw Bulbasaur was on the other side with his trainer. 'I'm not going to wait for you three, you know.' he said in a taunting manner.
"Wait a moment, don't leave us, send back the vine!" Team Rocket screamed in fear.
Inside the engine room, the group watched as Team Rocket caught their breath from what they just had to do. "Now, I know what a toasted marshmallow feels like," Meowth comments as he takes deep breaths after what had happened to them.
"Hey, there's no time to take a break," Ash tells them as he looks at them.
"We've got to get off this ship quick," Misty reminds Ash, knowing that time was running as she felt the ship rock a little.
"Right!" Ash exclaims, pulling out a Poké Ball. "Charmander, I choose you!" he calls out his fire type.
"Charmander, we need you to weld through the metal haul of the ship with your flame," Ash said as he knew that this was the spot that they could all get out.
"Charmander, we need you to weld through the Metal haul of the ship with your flame," Ash said as he knew that this was the spot that they could all get out.
'Okay, Ash, I'm on it,' Charmander said, and he then unleashed his Flamethrower attack on the hull as the others all watched, knowing they needed to be ready.
"Okay, listen up. Grab hold of a water Pokémon and swim to the surface as fast as you can," Misty said as she looked at everyone. "Also, since I'm not sure just how deep we are so we have to hurry before we run out of air."
"Right," Brock said as he soon looked over to Ash. "You got that, Ash?" Brock asked, hoping that this would not take too long to get to the surface.
"I'll be alright with my Squirtle," Ash mirrored him and then looked over to Naruto and knew he would be okay thanks to having Buizel on him.
"Hey, don't forget about us. What are we supposed to do?" Jessie demanded as she looked over to Misty, having a frown on her face.
Misty, however, just looked over to Jessie and what she had asked her. "Just grab a Water Pokémon," Misty said as if that was the obvious thing.
"Misty, I don't have a water Pokémon," Sakura said with a worried look on her face as Misty looked at her female friend with a smile on her face.
"Don't worry, Sakura, you can borrow one of mine," Misty said as she still had a smile on her face as she handed Sakura her Staryu.
"Water Pokémon!?" Meowth echoed loudly as he and his teammates looked in fright, not having one on them.
"It's almost burned through everyone get ready," Ash announced as the rest of his friends all nodded at this, getting ready for what was going to happen.
As soon as Charmander's Flamethrower had finished, the piece of metal broke through because of the sea's pressure. Water came falling into the haul fast.
Team Rocket screamed at the rush of water. "Are you crazy, what have you done!?" Meowth screamed, jumping up and down.
Charmander was running away from the rushing water in fear, holding his tail flame in front of him. "Oh, no Charmander return!" Ash returned his Pokémon before the water splashed on him.
The five Trainers took some ropes they had on them and tied themselves to their respective water Pokémon. "You all ready?" Ash asked the three water-types as he finished tying himself and Pikachu Pokémon to his Squirtle.
While Misty was tying herself to Goldeen, Brock had tied himself onto Starmie, which Misty had given him as neither he nor Sakura had any water Pokémon on them, and Sakura was using Staryu. "Thanks for letting me use Staryu again, Misty."
Misty looked at Sakura as she gave a smile. "Hey, you're my friend Sakura, so it's okay," She said to her pink-haired friend.
Naruto just smiled as he only got done tying himself to Buizel, who was shocked at what was going on and looked at Naruto.
"Hold on Team Rocket," Ash called out as he and his friends moved up the rushing water to get out and into the sea.
"Hold on! We haven't got the right Pokémon!" Jessie hollers back, James stands still, and Meowth is still jumping up and down.
"I hate water!" Meowth cried out, already feeling how wet his feet were getting. "Especially wet water, why that crazy redhead!"
"We're in big trouble; we can't escape without any water Pokémon!" Jessie cried out in fright, but she soon stopped as both she and Meowth soon heard that James was laughing as she looked over to James. "You're laughing?" She asked as she looked at him with a confused look on her face, unsure why he was laughing in the first place. "I don't see, what's so funny, James?"
"The poor guy must be cracking up, just like the ship," Meowth said as he jumped onto Jessie's shoulder to get away from the seawater as James continued to laugh.
"You really made fun of me, but who's got the last laugh now? Well, a true Genies is never appreciated until there's trouble," He said, and then James looked over his shoulder towards Jessie and Meowth. "I knew we would need this in a tight spot, look," James said with a smile as he showed off the fake gold Poké Ball in his hand.
The two soon gasped as they looked at the pokéball that James held onto and knew what Pokémon was inside. "Could it be?" Jessie asked with awe in her voice. "Magikarp!" both she and Meowth said simultaneously, and soon they both bowed at James. "We're not worthy."
"Feast your eyes on the king of carp, Magikarp!" James said with a smile still on his face as he looked at his teammates with a big smile now on his face knowing that Magikarp would help save them.
"You're the best, James!" Jessie said to James with admiration in her voice as she looked towards James with a smile.
"I take back the jokes from now on I'll treat you with the respect that you deserve," Meowth said with a grin on his face.
"Better late than never," James said with a light laugh as he called out his Magikarp. "It's time, Magikarp," James cried out as he threw the fake golden Poké Ball and called out Magikarp.
"Lucky for us, I brought us this even cost us next month's salary," James said as he looked over to both Jessie and James, still having a smile on his face.
"Enough bragging, just tie yourself on!" Jessie yelled as she used the rope they had and all tied themselves onto the Pokémon that would save them.
"We've got to escape!" Meowth cried out, seeing the water still rising on them, and they knew that time was running out.
"Alright, Magikarp, let's escape!" James, he told his Pokémon with a smile.
However, all the Pokémon did was flop about in the seawater as the others looked at Magikarp. They saw that it could barely even splash right now in the water that he was in right now.
Watching this just caused all three's faces to go blue at what they were looking at right now. "Don't tell me this fish can't swim!" Jessie cried in fear as well as anger.
"Forget swim; it can barley splash," Meowth said with a frown on his face as he looked at the Pokémon.
However, before they could say anything else or do anything else, the seawater began to come in that much faster. As Team Rocket and the ship fell off the ledge, it was on and into the darkness below.
Several minutes above the surface, Ash and his friends were standing on a raft waiting for Team Rocket, but so far, they hadn't surfaced, as they all looked at each other, wondering what had happened to the trio.
"I wonder why Team Rocket hasn't surfaced," Ash wondered aloud, looking at the others with a worried look now on his face for the three.
"Do you think they're still trapped inside?" Misty asked as she, too, was worried for the three members right now.
"There's nothing more we can do. Except try to find some dry land," Brock suggested.
"Brock's right, we have to look for land, but which way should we go anyway?" Naruto said as he looked around as was Ash.
"Let's see," Ash looks around from his position on the raft. "Nothing but ocean in every direction, and no way to tell which direction to go," he said and sighed.
"I remember the story of Noah, who when he had to find dry land, he sent a bird to find it and return with a branch," Brock said, smiling as he looked to his friends.
"What a great idea," Ash said and tossed a Poké Ball into the air. "We're gonna do the same thing as Noah. Pidgeotto, I choose you!" and the Flying-type appeared.
"Pidgeotto, bring us back whatever you find," Ash told his winged friend. Pidgeotto nodded; he responded and flew off.
"We're counting on you, Pidgeotto," Ash said with worry on his face and then looked at his friends as they all sat down, knowing it was best to wait for Pidgeotto.
"Let's just hope Pidgeotto finds something," Sakura said as she sat down on the raft while Naruto sat down next to her.
"Don't worry, I know Pidgeotto will find something Sakura-chan," Naruto said with a smile and then looked at the sky.
Sakura nodded as she looked up at the sky with him. "You know our friends back home would never believe all the things that we have seen so far," Sakura said as she turned her head towards Naruto.
Naruto nodded at this as he smiled towards Sakura and looked at them; after all, he knew she was right as they had made friends, and even the Pokémon they had befriended since both ended up is this would. "I know. I mean, who knows what they would say at all the Pokémon they would see.
"I would be a little worried some may use them for war," Sakura said with a frown; after all, she had read books of what happened in the past back home and knew that warlords and others might use the Pokémon for war.
Naruto nodded as he remembered the attack that had happened when both the Sound and Sand attacked Konoha. Neither wanted to think what would happen if their Pokémon to kill anything they get's in their way.
"Well, that sounds bad, but you two shouldn't worry about it too much," Misty said as she looked over at the two ninjas she had become friends with since meeting them. "It's like you said, it will be hard for them to get here after all."
The two ninjas looked over to Misty and just smiled at her as they knew she was right. "And if they do, then we shall stop anyone who would do such a thing," Naruto answered with a grin on his face.
The others on the raft looked at Naruto and nodded at what he was saying, more so with Sakura as she looked over to where Pikachu was sleeping. "After all, the Pokémon are worth keeping safe, as is this world."
Naruto agreed with Sakura as he didn't want to think what someone like Orochimaru would do if he got his snake hands on some Pokémon. The thought alone made him worry not only for his friends but also for the many other people of this world; he was thankful for the knowledge that there was powerful Pokémon, and many were hard to find.
Naruto soon looked over to Misty and smiled at the redhead. "And thanks for getting us off the ship as well, Misty I almost thought that this would have been how it ended y'know."
Misty just gave a smile as she looked at Naruto and nodded. "Well, I know a lot after all when it comes to the sea and water Pokémon." She said with a grin still on her face.
"Wait, can't you both walk on water? I mean, you're both ninjas after all, and you walked on tree from what we have seen?" Ash asked as he looked at Naruto and Sakura, knowing both were could do so.
The two looked at each other and then at Ash when they heard this from him. "That's a good idea, but we have no idea which way to go," Sakura said as she looked in all directions.
Ash just sighed what she said to him. "Guess you're right, all we can do is just wait until Pidgeotto comes back with something then."
A little later, Pidgeotto brought back Team Rocket and a flailing Magikarp. It looked like they were dead this time. "They weren't able to make it," Misty said as she sadly looked down at the still bodies of Team Rocket.
"Not even Team Rocket dissevered this," Ash said with a frown on his face as he too was looking at the three.
Naruto nodded, feeling sorry for the three. "Yeah, I mean, they may have been a pain at times but to go out like that…." Naruto began and lowered his head for the three.
"I know, but there is nothing more we can do for them now," Sakura added as she looked at Naruto and then Team Rocket.
"Yeah…" Brock said with a frown and looked at the others. "I guess the only decent thing to do is to give them a traditional burial at sea," Brock said as he bowed his head.
"You're right, it's our duty even if they were our enemies," Ash said as they all began to push Team Rocket off the raft.
However, just before they could do it, they saw both Jessie and James pop back to life, but they had a look at them, which scared Ash, Misty, and Brock as the three screamed at what had just happened. "Aaaahhhh zombies!"
While Naruto and Sakura get ready to deal with the now undead Team Rocket, they are shocked that zombies are a thing in this world. "How are they are thing here, Sakura?" Naruto asked as he went to attack James.
"Who knows, but I know that a bite is a bad thing!" Sakura cried out, getting ready to attack Jessie as Naruto looked at her. "What I like zombies films Naruto."
However, they stopped as they heard the two cry out at what Ash, Misty, and Brock had said, slightly angry at them. "Who are you calling Zombies?! James yelled at the three kids.
"We are not zombies!" Jessie yelled at them with a frown on his face as well, not like being called a zombie.
"Somebody help! My fur is getting wet!" Meowth complained as he then pulled himself out of the water.
On the other hand, Pikachu snaps his fingers and frowns at the Meowth being back on board. 'Oh, come on.'
That night, the two groups slept on two separate sides of the raft, and Magikarp continued to flail in the middle as the others watched.
Yet before long, Sakura woke up from her sleep, as did Misty, both girls, and looked at each other and then up to the night sky. "This has just been a crazy two days," Misty said as she sighed and looked around her, hoping that maybe a boat would come and pass them.
Sakura nodded as she, like Misty, made sure that they didn't wake up the others who were still sleeping right now. "Yeah, but we are alive, at least Misty. That should count for something at the very least."
"I know now we just need to find land," Misty said as she looked around, still thinking which way they should go, but both knew that there was another problem they had no food.
But they would need to worry about this in the morning as right now, the two girls looked up at the night sky with a smile on their faces, happy that they could see this at least. "You know back home, I did this with my Team well before me, and Naruto got sent here that is," Sakura said as she looked at Misty.
"That Sasuke you and Naruto have told me about sounds like a right jerk who can be so far up his own ass," Misty said with a huff in her voice, hearing the stories Sakura told about the last Uchiha, and Misty was least impressed by this. "Still can't believe you acted like that around him."
Sakura looked at Misty and sighed at this; she knew that they had been in this world for three months now, and she knew both she and Naruto had seen a lot in just a short time. Not to mention what she had learned from the Kyuubi about what Naruto did; not that Sakura minded now that she knew it was indeed Naruto who wanted to kiss her forehead since it was the one thing she hated.
And Naruto said he wanted to kiss it; this just made her blush, something Misty noticed. "Sakura, is everything alright?"
"Oh, sorry, Misty, I was just remembering what Naruto once said about my forehead. You see, people back home used to pick on me because it's so pink, not to mention my freaky pink hair as well." Sakura began as she soon began to tell Misty what Naruto did that day. Team 7 had become a team.
Misty was shocked to hear that Naruto made himself look like Sasuke, but she smiled at what he said to her. "And he said he wanted to kiss it at that moment. I felt just so happy I only wish Naruto said it himself and not as Sasuke, he may have won my heart that day if he did." Sakura finished as she looked over to a sleeping Naruto and smiled at him.
Misty smiled as well and nodded. "So how do you feel now knowing it was Naruto and not Sasuke?" Misty asked as she looked at her friend.
Sakura just sighed and looked up to the night sky. "Well, I'm not sure really what I feel for him, Misty," Sakura said as she looked at Misty. "I mean, I'm just not sure of my feelings, not after what I did."
Misty looked at her and placed a hand on Sakura's shoulder. "I wish I could help with that, Sakura, but all I can say it just give it time," Misty said with another smile as the two girls just looked up at the night sky.
The next day by noon, it was hot out there, and then everyone was feeling hungry if the growling stomachs were anything to go by them. "I'm so hungry," Ash said, holding his stomach, which gave a grumble.
"It seems like forever since we last ate something," Brock says as he too felt hungry as well.
"If I'd known I was gonna be starving, I would have stuffed my face full when I was on the St. Anne!" Misty yells in angry, wanting to get some food.
"I agree with you, Misty. I wished we at least stopped and got some before we got out," Sakura said as she was holding onto her stomach, wanting to eat anything right now to stop the hunger she was feeling.
Naruto nodded; he would just eat about anything right now as well, and he didn't care what it was. "Yeah, I know how you feel," He said as he fell backward onto his back, looking up at the sky as he sighed.
"I want some food," James whined.
"Stop it," Jessie orders him. However, she wasn't fairing any better right now.
"Yeah, that whining only makes you feel even hungrier," Meowth says, looking at the others depressingly as he sighed what was going on right now, wishing he too had something to eat.
They all looked at the flail Magikarp between it, each one drooling think of all the ways they could eat Magikarp. "It's too bad we can't eat Magikarp," Sakura comments, and she knew it was wrong, but the hunger she had was stronger.
"Uh? What do you mean? Why can't we?" Jessie asks as she looks over to Sakura and with a frown on her face.
"Magikarp, are just scales and bones," Misty answers for Sakura, with her arms crossed, and looks at them all. "All you would do is end up breaking your teeth, trying to eat it."
Hearing this, both James and Jessie now looked annoyed at the situation. "Not only can this fish not swim, but it's also not even good for eating!" James growled as he looked at the Magikarp.
"See, I told you buying it was stupid!" Jessie angrily told James after all; she had lost money on this Pokémon as well.
"You good for nothing fish I don't want to be your master!" and with that, James kicked Magikarp into the ocean, where it was flailing even more.
"Good riddance, Magikarp!" an angry James said, while everybody else looked on with sad looks.
"I feel sorry for it," Misty sadly says as she looks at the poor Pokémon as Misty sees he was splashing about in a panic over what happened.
Sakura and Naruto nodded at this, both agreeing with Sakura. They both shot James a glare at what he had done to the poor Pokémon as Naruto was thinking about his own Magikarp, knowing how he was left behind as no one wanted such a weak Pokémon on their team.
"Huh!?" then everyone blinks in surprise as Magikarp starts glowing white and grows in size as everyone looks at what is going on with the Pokémon.
It had just evolved into Gyarados, an angry Gyarados, that is, and it was looking at the humans with a lot of anger in its eyes.
Everyone on the raft looked up at the now evolved Pokémon, and they all screamed in surprise. "Now you've done it! Magikarp has evolved into Gyarados!" Misty said with fright in her voice as she backed away and closed her eyes in fear.
That was something that Sakura took note of this and was worried for her, but knew that she would have to ask Misty about this later as right now, they had an angry Gyarados to deal with thanks to James.
"Gyarados, I miss Magikarp," Jessie complained, looking at the Pokemon with fear as she looked at the Pokémon, and she knew that it was not too happy with the trio.
Both Ash and Naruto soon looked at each other as the two took out their Pokédex. "Gyarados, this Pokémon has a vicious temperament, so use extreme caution. Its fangs can crush stones, and its scales are harder than steel."
Misty was shaking her head at this with fear still in her body as memories from what happened when she was younger, the memory of when she was very young, and a Gyarados almost ate her. "No, I can't think like this right now," Misty thought as she looked up at the Pokémon; she was scared off and then over to her friends. "I need to think of a way to get us all away from here."
James now tried to look confident at his new Pokémon. "I'm James, your Master. Obey me."
On the other hand, Gyarados just roars at him, frightening James as Jessie looks over to him with a frown. "You Dimwit, if you're the Master, don't act like you're scared of it," Jessie berated him.
"I am scared," James admitted as he looked at Jessie, still with fear at Gyarados.
"Goldeen, Starmie, Staryu!" Misty said as she called out three of her water Pokémon.
Both Naruto and Sakura looked on in surprise at Misty, calling out her Pokémon. "She's actually going to battle this Gyarados. That's mental! Wonder if she even has a strategy is?" Naruto thought as he looked at Misty.
"How will you battle it?" Brock asked, looking at Misty.
Misty smirks as she looks at her friends and then back to the in-raged Pokémon. "My strategy is... RUN AWAY!" she shouts.
'That's her strategy!' Sakura thought, sweat-dropping, and then looked back over to where Gyarados was and soon knew that Misty had a good point about what she was doing and why it was best to run away. "That's... that's... actually a good strategy, an excellent strategy!"
"Let's get out of here!" everyone yelled, not wanting to stick around Gyarados anymore right now as they looked back at the angry Pokémon.
Soon she and the other humans had long sticks and paddled as fast as possible, while the four water-types were pulling the raft, with ropes tied to them.
"You just had to kick Magikarp, didn't you?!" Naruto yelled as he looked over to James with a frown at the trouble they are now in because of James.
"Hey, this is not the time or the place!" Jessie yelled as she looked at Naruto while the blonde simply looked at Jessie with a frown.
They shouted, "Heave-ho!" 3x's as they tried to get away from the Atrocious Pokémon, who gave chase roaring after them.
"Faster, faster!" they all said soon; they were pulling away from the Gyarados.
The Water Serpent had soon stopped then started roaring out. The group had also stopped paddling and watched it continue to roar as they all wondered what was going on. "Huh?" was the collective thought of everyone as they all looked at Gyarados.
"What's it doing?" Ash asked as he looked over to Misty. "Misty…?" Ash asked as he noticed the worried look that's now on her face and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"It just evolved, maybe it's tired out." Brock guesses as he too looked at Misty as she knew the most about water Pokémon, so maybe she knew what was going on with Gyarados.
"We made it!" Jessie and James hugged each other, and everyone looked relieved, except for Misty.
"Misty…?" Sakura asked as she placed a hand on her friend's shoulder, and she could feel how tense Misty was right now.
Naruto was also looking over to where Gyarados was and then at Sakura, wondering what they should do or rather what Gyarados would do; after all, Naruto knew that it wasn't Gyarado's fault that it was in a rage. "And I'm not about to hurt it."
"Unless the stories are true," Misty says, drawing everybody's attention with fear now in her voice as she just continued to look at the Gyarados.
"Uh, what are you talking about, Misty?" Ash asked as he looked at her, and he noticed the fear that was in her voice.
Misty begins explaining as the roar from Gyarados continues as the sky above them starts to darken with black clouds. "Sailors tell terrible stories about the Gyarados, I think this might be... it may be Dragon Rage," she says worryingly.
"Dragon Rage!" the others shouted in shock.
Gyarados gave a final roar, and from the ocean, before getting accompanied by four more Gyarados. "That's Dragon Rage? But that looks nothing like how I read Gyarados uses it," Sakura looked on in horror at the five serpents. "I mean, I was seeing what attacks it would be able to use when Naruto own Magikarp evolves."
"That's because this one is able to call upon others of his species to aid it!" Misty answers with a frown, her eyes not leaving Gyarados and the new ones that had shown up and looked at the other, and they could all see the fear in her eyes. "We're all in big trouble, everyone."
Everyone looked as everyone soon noticed the attack that the five Gyarados had now unleashed upon the humans, who all screamed in fear. "Here it comes!" they all hollered, knowing that they now needed to go.
"Let's go!" Brock shouted.
"Come on, Misty, let's get out of here!" Sakura yelled with worry as she saw Misty looking at the attack as she shook her head at Sakura
"No one has ever gotten away from Dragon Rage at sea Sakura," Misty said as she looked to her and then the other. "I'm sorry, but there's nothing that we can do."
"Whoa, this is it!" shouted Ash to his friends.
Just then, the Dragon Rage move, like a cyclone of water reaching into the sky, swallowed the raft and the group.
Team Rocket was then quickly blasted one way, and the group was soaring in another while still inside the attack. "Everyone, we need to hold on, so don't let go!" Ash yelled to his friends as they all nodded at each other, holding the other's hands. The friends all tried to hold on to each other, but the pressure was too much for them, and they let go as all they could do was scream for dear life.
Now spiraling out of control, the attack continued off in a direction, taking its passengers with it. As that was happening, the clouds in the area had become clear once again.
A/N well one and all thus ends another chapter. And with a cliffhanger too, I can say that the next is the baggiest change yet as I am planning something big as the Pokémon will not be separated from Ash and the others now it will be something else altogether. Someone from the cast is going to be badly hurt. Now, who is this you're asking sadly? I can't say as I want to keep you all guessing who this will be and how hurt this person will be too?
Now, as you saw in the chapter, I added in Misty's fear of Gyarados, which I do want to play up in future chapters of the story, so be sure to keep an eye out for it as Sakura will be asking Misty this in the next chapter when they land on the island.
As for Naruto, remember he does have a Magikarp, but I think I will leave him to evolve later in the Indigo league season 1, which will be soon.
I've added a good old talk with Sakura and Misty, so they are slowly becoming closer friends, as you saw with the conversation they have had a night. Not only that but a little insight on what both Ninja will do to make sure that the Pokémon are not used as weapons by their people back in their world either, which we know some might do.
When they were on the raft, the whole part was hard as we all know, both Naruto and Sakura can walk on water. However, they still wouldn't know what way to go, the same for getting off the ship again; this is when both are still young and not sixteen, so no OP jutsu's to help them out in this situation and teleport them all to safety.
Anyway, thanks for reading; please leave a review of what you think of the chapter. It means a lot, so I will update as soon as I can as life is busy.
Update note: I fixed this chapter on 22/10/21
