AN: I'm alive! Sorry if it's been a while. I won't bother telling why either. You guys ain't worried about the writer as long as you guys got what you want! So cruel, but here's the next chapter. I would at least want a thank you though or you know your thoughts on the chapter, if it's horrible or not, or something. I hunger for reviews. So give me some!
On every mission I've gone after returning to Konoha I always had my two to three of my summons to check our surroundings during our missions to check for any signs of the kyuubi, but that wouldn't be an easy feat.
I would sometimes try to ask Haru if there was anything he could see within his byakugans perimeter—just to be sure nothing bypasses us. He always did as I asked probably because of the last encounter that we had with Sasori, but there were no signs of a large mass of chakra. Was it too early for him to reform? There was no information in the avian realm about the reformation of the tailed beasts. Only that they exist and can reform.
"Why do you always ask me to use my byakugan to check the surroundings?" Haru asked as we reached the gates.
We nodded to the chuunin guards by the gate before we went in the direction of the Hokage tower.
"You can't be too careful." I said. I just hope the Akatsuki hasn't found the kyuubi or else they would be a step ahead already. There was also…I shook my head there was no point in worrying. I can worry, but it won't help me a bit.
"Why did you choose Fuinjutsu, Iruna-san?" Haru asked from me, which was new, he didn't usually ask me about that.
"Seals are useful. Isn't that evident with the storage scroll?" I answered. "Besides they're fun to make and I can use them for pranks too."
We arrived at the Hokages' office and once we handed Minato-san the scroll, the mission report to follow the next day. He asked me to stay a while longer and handed me a scroll. I took the scroll and started reading the contents.
'To the Hokage,
I have been informed by my fellow summon, Tohru that for extraction process that will be done to one of your students, Uchiha Obito. We request you to allow us to bring him to our village for the time being to prevent any damages to the vicinity of Konoha. We will make sure your student will be returned in one piece and with minimal injuries.
-Koushi of the avian realm and Irunas' summon'
I felt my eye twitch once I was done reading the scroll. I only just left three weeks ago and now this?
I snapped my head to Minato-san. "Did you—?" I left the question unfinished.
"Obito has been out of the village when I read the scroll." Minato-san answered. "I received the scroll two weeks ago."
Somehow, it's not a surprise that Obito-nii was already kidnapped by those two out of the village. At least they did think to leave a scroll to tell where he is, but it's still considered kidnapping. They didn't have Obito-niis' consent, and I doubt he would just agree.
"I apologize, Hokage-sama, for the trouble." I said bowing up to my waist. They were my summons and my responsibility.
"There is no need to apologize, just make sure Obito is fine." Minato-san told me.
"I'll see you then, Minato-san." I finished before going through my hand seals to head to the avian realm.
When I came to the realm, I fell into the waters of the baths again.
"I thought I didn't have to go through this again." I said to myself as I heard a chuckle above me.
"No. That happens when you haven't come here in more than two months."
I looked up to find a guy with coppery hair and red wings, but his hair was short only reaching up to his ears. He was starting to resemble his older brother, if it weren't for his red wings and shorter hair. I would have mistaken him to be his older brother.
"Yuta!" I said grinning as I took the hand he offered to me. "I haven't seen you in a while! Don't you have training or lessons?"
"My training is done for the day." He answered grinning himself with a raised eyebrow. "and so is my bath."
"Sorry." I said as I jumped out of the pool causing some of the water to spray about the area. "If I disturbed your bath."
"I was just about to leave." Yuta said shrugging.
"Do you happen to know where Koushi or Tohru is right now?" I asked him. "They aren't responding."
"The last I saw them they were asking permission from my brother about permission to bring a non-summoner here."
"Well, skip forward to where they are now. We already know Hoshi agreed if they left a message to Minato-san."
"They're not in the village, since the one they brought caused a bit of a problem in the palace." Yuta answered. "They had to stay somewhere else."
I grimaced, this can't be good.
"I'll go with you. I know where they are."
"Thanks, Yuta!" I chirped.
"Where's my prize?" He asked holding his arms out to the side.
"I'm not falling for that again!" I said glowering at him. He had tricked me before, but not again. I don't know how old he is in human years, but he has a reputation of stealing kisses and after the third time, no way am I going to fall for any of his tricks. "Let's meet at the entrance of the archives."
After leaving the bath, I dropped by Mirus' house first to get out of my wet clothes and into my casual attire. When I met Yuta again he was in his black yukata with flame designs on it.
"Did Suzume have you wear those clothes?" Yuta asked when I walked over to him.
"No." I answered, though this was one of her choices.
"Oh, so you chose those clothes?" Yuta said appraising them. "Not bad, I thought you didn't have any fashion sense."
"Is this really the time to say that?"
"Yes, because you don't summon me that much." He said crossing his arms.
"That's because, when I summoned you, we almost burned a forest down."
"That was not my fault. My flames only burn those with ill intentions. It was your jutsu that caused the fire." Yuta said.
"I don't believe that." I said stubbornly.
Yuta held out his hand creating a ball of fire in his palm. He held it toward me.
"What am I supposed to do with that?"
"Hold it." He said.
I was reluctant at first, but he wouldn't hurt me, not unless it's Mia. Everyone in my flock knows Mia has it in for me, even though she gave me her feather. I took the fire from him, thinking of it like a ball. When I held it, it was warm, not even burning hot.
"See." Yuta said a smirk on him.
"Okay, so it was my fault that time." I said admitting to my fault. "Sorry."
"And?"
I shook my head smiling. "All right. I'll be sure to summon you more next time."
"Yes!" Yuta pumped his hand almost like he had won a battle.
I chuckled at his actions. It made him younger in that respect, though with their species no one could tell what their ages were. Their age seemed different to the others in the realm, maybe it's because they were phoenixes? I had no clue, and it wasn't in the book Mirus gave me.
"Now, can we go to where Koushi and Tohru are?" I asked.
"Sure. They're on an island north east from here, but it's going to take us two hours to get there. Think you can handle it?" Yuta asked me.
"I don't know." I answered honestly. "I haven't tried longer than an hour."
"I can always carry you." Yuta replied.
"I'll try first, but if I can't—"
"I'll catch you." Yuta finished for me.
"Thanks. Wait, how did Koushi get there if he doesn't have wings?"
"He lost his physical wings, but that doesn't mean he can't fly using other means. He's almost like you." He said raising an eyebrow. "I thought you knew?"
"You overestimate me." I replied.
Yuta let me down to my feet as he landed on the ground and folded his wings. Half way to the island, I couldn't keep up the second level of the sage mode and would have fallen straight into the ocean if Yuta hadn't been there. I followed him as we followed a forest path from the beach and found a two story stone house at the end of the path with a patio with tables and chairs outside.
"Yuta, what is this place?" I asked as we approached the stone house.
"It's something like a lovebirds escape." Yuta answered. "There are a number like this outside of the village."
Lovebirds escape? Sounds like a honeymoon spot, if you ask me and good name for a business too.
We got onto the steps of the patio and opened the door of the house, forget knocking.
"Mind if we join you for dinner?" I asked as I caught sight of the two kidnappers by the table eating dinner.
Tohru was the one who had taken the initiative to bring Obito-nii to the avian realm. After staying with Obito-nii for more than a week, he went back and spoke to Koushi about his idea. His idea is to remove the chakra within the seal and mold it into a crystal. In my case, the Kyuubi chakra had already dispersed before he could mold it. It was a great loss, that crystal would have been a great help to find the whereabouts of the Kyuubi.
"But you have no way of knowing if the chakra in the seal would even attack you." I said.
"It's going to be a gamble, but I have Koushi here then you and Yuta." Tohru answered. "Though, we have to get him to use the seal, to even start with the process."
"What have you two been doing for the past weeks then before we arrived?" I asked. "I don't think you two would have done nothing during that time."
"We tried to rile him up, but he won't use the seal and just uses his sharingan." Koushi answered.
"Just fighting him won't get him to use the seal." I said looking between Koushi and Tohru.
"Then, what do we have to do?" Koushi asked.
"Let me handle it." I answered.
ooo
Everything was ready. I don't know if this was a good idea or not, but we were already in the middle of it. We might as well go through with this plan. Removing the chakra, that was only part of the reason why they nabbed Obito-nii.
I shook Obito-nii to wake him up on the ground. They didn't hurt Obito-nii as much as I thought they would while they were on this island and at least they still fed him. Currently, we were in a clear field just a few feet away from the beach. Obito-nii groaned as he slowly regained consciousness trust Koushi to put Obito-nii out.
"What?" Obito-nii pushed himself up and looked around. "Where am I?"
"Do you remember anything the last you were awake?" I asked.
"Some guy with wings was making me fight with them, but they would wake me up to feed me. It was weird." Obito-nii replied before his gaze fell on me. "Iruna? Did they also get you?"
"You should get up, Obito-nii." I said holding his hand with both hands and pulling him up.
He stumbled as he got to his feet, but he was fine as he rolled his arms and stretched. I activated my sharingan by then as he looked around the area, as he turned to me I went in deliberately going for his head. He was quick enough to dodge it.
Obito-nii turned to me surprised. "What are you doing?!"
I ignored his question and continued with my strikes and his reflexes allowed him to avoid them, but not fast enough after a hit to his stomach then to his cheek.
"I'm not fighting you, Iruna!" He growled out as he held his stomach protectively.
I ran towards him striking him, he had too many openings and most of his movements were useless, it didn't support any of his follow-up attacks. He survived as long as he could as a chuunin. He trained as much as he could with Kurenai and Guy, but why isn't it helping him?!
After landing a kick to the middle of his body he flew back falling on the ground. Obito-nii pushed himself back up and was on one knee.
"I'm not fighting you." He rasped out.
"Want to know the truth, Obito?" I asked plainly. "You were right. I did know Rin would die. I trusted you two to protect her. That's why I kept quiet, but I suppose she was just meant to die."
"Stop."
"She was just too weak to be able to defend herself, and her two team mates were just as powerless as she was."
As I spoke, it felt like it wasn't me talking anymore. The cold tone of my voice sent chills down my own spine, and it unnerved me of how poisonous my own words were.
"You're already weak enough. What even made you give your sharingan away? It was all you had to even survive. You're nothing without your sharingan, just like most of the Uchiha are, so dependent on our doujutsu. A doujutsu that can be stolen."
"And you can't say the same for yourself?!" Obito had taken the bait as he rushed at me with punches to my head.
I dodged his punch and caught his face with my palm before slamming him to the ground.
"Yes." I said staring at him with my own sharingan active, a look of fury on his face. One that is stored in my mind forever. "Without my sharingan, I still have my seals."
Obito disappeared with a poof below me. I turned around catching his ankle and twisting with his momentum to throw him to the ground. Another bunshin, he came at me from my blind spot almost making me lose my footing, if I didn't jump and kick him at his side. I was only playing around with him as we traded hits.
"Thanks to you, Kakashi took a leap to get stronger than ever. He was able to wield his chidori without a problem and even earned the name of 'Copy cat Kakashi'. Not even an Uchiha and he wielded the sharingan without a problem, what about you? You're still the same even with your sharingan awake. I suppose this is the difference between a genius and—"
A word I will never be able to take back and regret saying for as long as I live. I don't believe he is one, but to make ends meet, I have to do this.
"—a nobody."
"Shut up!" He shouted blindly charging at me.
I blocked his strikes. His own attacks can even be used against him. He used his bunshins to avoid taking the brunt of the strike, but the usual tactic one can make. Eventually, he realized taijutsu wouldn't work and he started to weave hand seals for the great fireball jutsu.
I went along meeting his great fireball with my own, mine only being blue compared to the usual orange of the jutsu. An explosion occurred as our jutsus met, sending off a strong wave. I jumped back sailing along with the wave in the air as I weaved through my hand seals only finishing half of them. I landed on the surface of the water of the shore as nine blue fireballs appeared before me in a circle.
While the clearing was still covered with a cloud of dust with a few hand seals three of the fireballs formed together to make a fire dragon, three of them heading towards the cloud of dust. An explosion occurred in the cloud of dust, but at the same time I turned jumping back as water splashed from the impact Obito had made onto the water.
"Obito" I said. "You said you wanted to be Hokage. You as Hokage?" I scoffed chuckling "That's a pipe dream for you. There's no way you can be one with your current state."
As I started with my set of seals, he followed suit, but he wasn't any faster than I was. The nine fireballs I created I changed their forms into birds before I sent them off towards him. Although Obito would be able to dodge them on contact with anything, they would explode.
Obito was taken off guard by the explosions and was thrown back towards the island from the impact. I approached him disappointment echoing in me. Maybe saving Obito wasn't the best idea, after all? Even without Obito, Madara would still find someone else to manipulate.
I stood above Obitos' crumbled form on the sand and pulled out my katana from my storage seal. Maybe it was better with Obito gone? Spinning the katana in my hand towards Obito, I raised the sword and plunged it down onto a log.
I whirled catching Obitos' fist his mangekyou sharingan was in play. What surprised me was as I held his fist for those few seconds, he went through me. I immediately jumped back taking my katana with me and returning it back into the storage space. I kept my distance from him.
So he managed to make use of what his sharingan had to offer. But how much can he handle at the moment? Time to find out, if anything happens Yuta and Koushi were there to help me.
He turned facing me with his mangekyou on display, and in a blink he closed the distance and kneed me in the stomach. I gasped, if I didn't do the same I would be outmatched. I felt him grab me by the neck and lifted me. He intended to slam my face into the ground. No way was I kissing the ground!
Obito slammed my head to the ground, but the bunshin I created dispelled leaving four pebbles in its place. One. Two. Chains were released from the pebbles and wrapped around him keeping him in place.
"What the—" Obito squirmed with the chains around him, but those chains weren't normal chains. They were chakra chains. I managed to reproduce a seal that would create a smaller version of them and they can repress the chakra of the one wrapped in it. It was also set to discharge lightning.
Obito groaned before he fell to the ground, but after a while he poofed away and the real one appeared to my right. I twisted to face him and just managed to block his kick. I dodged and returned a few hits before we jumped away and started on hand seals once more.
I didn't have to finish all of the hand seals and called on the same jutsu like earlier, only…this time nine black fireballs appeared in a circle in front of me instead of blue. From this distance, Obitos' eyes widened at the jutsu I used.
Surprise. Surprise. Yes, this is the capability of my mangekyou, it was weird on its own, but who am I to ask how it worked? I didn't have to use Amaterasu. Any fire-based jutsu I used with my mangekyou on would turn the flames to black. This was just my sharingan. I wasn't using everything I had under my sleeve. I didn't think that it would be on Obito that I would use this though.
"Come on, Obito!" I shouted, sending one of the black fireballs at him.
Minato-san knew that I did try to save my sensei. In exchange for that 'try' my reputation with my clan was tarnished, mother was hurt, father died, and I became a scapegoat. Obito didn't know the entire story and he threw a tantrum, getting mad at me for not doing more?
I saved him along with Kakashi and Rin before when I knew it was beyond my own capabilities. I got injured that time! I'm the one who wants to complain the most, but I swore that I wouldn't utter a word of complaint for my choices!
I sent four of the fireballs at him as he dodged before I rushed at him myself while I called on three kage bunshins. I used the remaining fireballs at him but he used his trick with his mangekyou. I tried to get a hit at him with my kage bunshins, while one of them managed to land a kick, but two of them got dispelled with the Great Fireball jutsu he used.
While I fought with him, using kage bunshins and foxfire, I could see black ink quickly crawling up his neck. I rolled away just when I felt chakra coming at me. I glanced in the direction the chakra went to find Amaterasu blazing. I grimaced the black flame would consume everything before it dispersed.
My kage bunshins were dispelled by his flames, but within those kage bunshins I had given them each a pebble. The pebbles were torched by black flames but the seal was still activated. The pebbles disintegrated as lightning sparked using the black flames chakra as fuel it was stronger and would strike the nearest source of chakra it could find, Obito. The lightning was strong enough to knock out anyone, and yet here is Obito his eyes still wide open with the black ink partly covering his face.
I was the bait from the beginning and our goal was to get him to use the seal on his neck. With a snap of my fingers, I unleashed the seals I planted onto the ground earlier and chakra chains came out holding Obito down. Of course, that didn't mean I would come out of this unscathed.
"Iruna!"
"Princess!"
Koushi and Tohru shouted as black flames were caught on my shoulder.
"Tohru, now!" I shouted as I manipulated the chains to cover his eyes and prevent him from using Amaterasu again.
Obitos' scream broke through the silence of the clearing as the extraction process began.
