chapter 14 visit

"Usagi is it ok if we go visit my brother sometime soon?" usagi looked up from his book and looked into the kitchen where I was standing making breakfast. Usagi cleared his throat and got up from the couch to come and lean on the counter in front of me.
"That's fine with me, but they live in Osaka, right? Wont the weather be bad…I mean it's already cold here." I flipped the omelet that was cooking on the pan and looked up to usagi.
" onii san and Ane san want to celebrate Christmas together, they even offered to pay for the train tickets, I'm sure they want to see izuru and have something big planned for him there, so the least we can do is go." Usagi nodded his head slowly but still continued to stare at me. It irritated me, seeing how calculative his eyes were, so I decided to confront it.
"What?" usagi continued to stare into my eyes; He reluctantly stood up straight and slightly puffed out his chest.
"What do you have planned over there?" after hearing those words I Immediately broke eye contact with usagi, looking back down to the almost perfectly yellow omelet that was cooking peacefully on the stove. Usagi took notice to my sudden reaction and lifted up my chin to face him.
"Spill it…" he told me as I avoided his gaze.
All he wants to know is what we're doing for izuru…I don't have to tell him about the surprise.
"w-we were going to have onii san dress up like Santa for Izuru…a-and I was going to take him to see the city lights in town…" I could have sworn that usagi caught my half-truth, half- lie but instead of confronting me on it he placed a chaste kiss on my lips, then let go of my chin.
"The omelet's going to burn…" he pointed out as I looked down at the now browning omelet. I jumped to action and quickly poured the egg onto a plate. I looked back up to see that usagi was no longer at the counter but was now back on the couch, reading. I sighed to myself and cracked another two eggs in the pan and scrambled them. Breakfast was going to take longer than I had hoped for.

*2 days later 4 days before Christmas Eve, its early morning and the family is getting ready*
"Come on izuru, wake up…we have to get ready to go to uncle and aunties house…come on…" izuru slowly woke up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes then looked to me wondering why in the world I was getting him up so early.
"But daddy…I'm sleepy, I don't wanna!" izuru complained in a whiny voice that made me sigh reluctantly, afraid to continue to push the already whiny child.
"Come now izuru, get ready…go get dressed…I'm going to go make some food before we leave, so ask papa if you need anything, he's in our bedroom getting ready just like you." Izuru gave me a pout face, but reluctantly got out of bed and went to his dresser. I smiled and left the young man to get dressed by himself. I went downstairs and into the kitchen where I already had all the stuff I needed out. I was going to make a simple egg and toast breakfast, knowing that we only had a little bit of time before we had to leave for the train.
Breakfast was quick, izuru was sleepy, usagi was…well, usagi. We grabbed our suitcases and walked to the train station. The train ride was a quiet one. Both usagi and izuru had fallen asleep giving me enough quiet time to finish one of my favorite novels by usagi. it took a few hours of stop and go from station to station until we finally got to our stop. By that time usagi had woken up and willingly offered to take the suitcases so I could carry izuru. It was a 30 minute walk from the station to my brother's house, but it was too bad. When we finally got to the house, we were greeted by my brother and his wife, who invited us in quickly, seeing how I was carrying izuru who was starting to get heavy. We walked inside and Christmas hit me in the face. My brother had really gone all out this year in decorating. I laid izuru down on the couch and sat next to him, fluffing up his hair.
"It's nice to see you again, Misaki…" I looked up to my brother who was holding his wife by the hip, looking ever so proudly at Izuru and me. I smiled brightly at my brother, then over to Usagi who smiled back lovingly. It really felt like a perfect family and it warmed my heart to feel like that. I got up and hugged by brother, then my sister-in-law…they asked us if we already ate and told them we had. After a little bit of chatting with my family, Izuru decided to wake up in a fit. He was crying hysterically and calling for me. I picked him up and wiped away his tears.
"I'm right here little bear, what's wrong?" he cried for a little while longer, rubbing his wet snotty face on my t-shirt and grabbing onto it, stretching it out. I didn't mind, but it was one of my favorite shirts and I hoped with all my might that I could get it out in the wash. After a couple more sniffles and whimpers he mumbled something into my shoulder.
"Where are we, daddy?" at the question I closed my eyes and placed a hand on his soft brown hair.
"We're at aunties and uncles house remember? Why don't you say hello to them? They have been waiting to see you for a while now…" Izuru looked up to his uncle then shyly curled back into my chest. In the end I had to get up and bring him over to them, and it was in that moment that I realized that Izuru wasn't going to let the family have a purely fun Christmas.
