My Life Would Suck Without You

Chapter 2

Tyler Simms wandered into the kitchen of his parent's two-story home. He was getting ready to head out to a party with the boys but he wanted to stop by his parent's house to see if they needed anything. Rosalind was cooking in the kitchen while Glenn sat at the kitchen table reading a newspaper.

"Hey." Tyler said as his mother and father looked at him.

"Hi honey, how did it go moving back into the dorms?" Rosalind asked.

"It was good!" Tyler said.

"How's your car?" Glenn asked as they watched a smile form on their son's face.

"It's amazing! Thanks again, dad!" Tyler said.

"Of course, son!" Glenn said.

"Oh honey, do you and Reid mind picking Nessie up at the airport? She'll be back sometime soon." Rosalind said.

"Of course, mom! Is she excited to be coming back home?" Tyler asked thinking about his sister.

Glenn laughed as his wife shot him a look. Tyler looked from his mom back to his dad. His father shrugged his shoulders.

"What? Did something happen?" Tyler asked.

"Nope. Your sister is waiting for you, honey." Rosalind said.

"All right. We won't be home late, mom." Tyler said.

Airport

Janessa waited for her brother outside of the airport. She was excited to be back home! God she had missed everything about this place. Her family, her friends, and mainly she just missed the scenery. Though some would say there wasn't anything special about it, Janessa couldn't help but feel that Ipswich was beautiful. She saw Tyler's car pull up as the passenger window rolled down and she heard someone say, "Well well well look what we have here!".

Janessa smiled at the passenger. Reid Garwin. He definitely was a character and she loved him for that. He always knew how to make her smile especially when she felt like everything in her world was going wrong. He was family to Tyler and her. The three had always been close. Well to be honest, Janessa had always been closest to Pogue because he had always been super protective of her and did see her as his younger sister.

"You gonna get in the car, Nessie or you just gonna stand there?" Tyler shouted as Janessa picked up her bags and rushed towards the car.

Getting into his car, she sat in the middle seat before Tyler drove off. Reid looked back at her smiling before he said, "Good to finally have you back, baby girl."

Janessa scrunched her face. Ever since she was little, the boys had always referred to her as baby girl since she was the youngest and only girl in their group. She and Tyler were both the youngest of the group actually. Thus giving Tyler the nickname baby boy. She shook her head before realizing that Reid was still looking at her.

"It feels great to be back. Where are we going?" Janessa asked as Tyler stopped the car.

"We're going to a party, baby girl." Reid said as they got out of the car.

"Well in that case, I guess I won't be needing my jacket." Janessa said as she unzipped her jacket revealing a lace bustier top that showed off her toned stomach.

Tyler and Reid looked at each other as she threw her jacket in the car. They had never seen her like this. She had always been the more reserved type of girl. Something about California must have changed her. And the boys couldn't help but admit that they were liking the new Janessa. Well Reid more so Tyler. Tyler still liked his more reserved sister.

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Janessa said as she linked her arms with the two boys.

Tyler locked up his car before they headed towards the cliff where they found Pogue and Caleb. Pogue looked at Tyler and Reid before asking them, "Where were you guys?"

"My mom made me stop and pick someone up." Tyler said as Pogue and Caleb gave them a look.

Tyler and Reid stepped aside to reveal Janessa who had Reid's jacket on. Pogue smiled at her before catching her in his arms. He had definitely missed her a lot. This was the longest that they hadn't seen each other for. He set her down before kissing her head.

"We missed you, baby girl." Pogue said as she smiled.

"I missed you guys too! It feels great to be back." Janessa said.

"How's the party?" Reid asked peeking over the cliff.

"Don't know. Just got here" Pogue said.

"Well hell boys, let's drop in." Reid said as he jumped off the cliff.

"Hell yeah!" Tyler said as he did the same thing.

"Tyler!" Caleb yelled.

"Oh come on Caleb. It's not like it's gonna kill us. Yet!" Pogue said as he jumped off the cliff.

Janessa looked at Caleb before looking over the cliff. Caleb offered his hand out to her. She took his hand and he wrapped his arms around her to protect her from getting hurt as they jumped off the cliff. Once they landed, he let her go.

"Thank you." Janessa whispered.

"No problem, baby girl." Caleb said as she blushed.

The group walked over to the party and started to say hi to everyone they knew. They found Kate with some new girl. Janessa looked at the new girl that Kate was introducing to the group. When Janessa was introduced to Sarah, she had felt something inside of her tell her that there was something wrong about the girl. She could just feel it inside of her but she shook it off and watched as Sarah tried to flirt with Caleb. Janessa looked at Reid who offered his hand to her. She took his hand and stood close to him. She leaned closer before whispering, "Thank you."

"No problem, baby girl." He said as he held her close.

Within a matter of minutes, Aaron had started a fight with Caleb and the boys which resulted in some new guy helping the boys. Reid using his powers to have Aaron's friend puke on him. And then an announcement saying that they needed to leave. Reid carried Janessa on his back as they rushed over to the Tyler's car. Once they had gotten there, Reid looked at Janessa.

"Back seat, baby girl." Reid said winking at her.

"But I want front seat!" Janessa said looking at her brother.

"Sorry Nessie but they wouldn't fit in the backseat." Tyler said as Janessa shook her head.

Pogue opened the back passenger door and waited for her to climb in. Janessa slid into the seat next to Caleb and waited till Pogue got into the car. Tyler was getting ready to warm up the car when Sarah yelled out from her car, "My car won't start!"

"Hop in with us!" Tyler said as Janessa rolled her eyes.

"I can't just leave it here." Sarah said.

"I can fix it." Reid said looking at Janessa.

"Reid." Caleb warned.

Janessa looked at Caleb and Pogue. They were starting to talk to each other as if she wasn't sitting between them. Tyler and Reid had ended up switching seats so that they could get away from the cops.

Later on that night…

Reid drove back to campus where they all got out of the car. Janessa grabbed her things from the trunk. She was just going to grab a taxi to head back to the house where she had been living. She had been living at home because she wanted to help her parents out at home. Tyler looked at her sister and realized that she needed to get home.

"Shoot, I'm sorry, Nessie. I should have taken you home first before we came back here." Tyler explained.

"No it's okay. I can catch a taxi home. I don't mind at all." Janessa said.

"I can take you home." Caleb said as Janessa looked at him.

"It's fine. I really don't mind taking a taxi." Janessa said.

"Thank you, Caleb." Tyler said as he looked at his sister.

"Excuse me, I can make my own decisions thank you very much." Janessa said.

"It's final, baby girl. There's no way I'm going to let you take a taxi home." Caleb said.

"Fine." Janessa said.

"Call me when you get home." Tyler said hugging his sister.

"I will." Janessa said as Reid gave her a wink.

Janessa and Caleb walked over to his car before Caleb opened the trunk and helped her put her things inside. Janessa watched as Caleb shut the trunk and the two made their way towards the driver and passenger sides. Getting in the car, she shut the door before putting her seatbelt on. He slipped on his seatbelt before starting the car and looked over at Janessa as she slipped her hair into a messy bun. He couldn't help but think of how much she had changed. She no longer looked like their little precious baby girl. She was a more mature grown up baby girl. He had to be completely honest though he wasn't sure about how to feel with the fact that she was wearing far more revealing clothing than before. Shaking his head, he began to drive towards the Simms' home.

"How was California, baby girl?" Caleb asked breaking the silence.

"Errmmm it was okay." She replied staring out the window.

"Have fun?" He questioned wanting her to speak more.

"I guess. I liked being away from here but I hated that it was for so long." She replied dreading the idea of having to think about her parents once more.

"Couldn't stay away from us for too long?" Caleb joked as Janessa looked over at him and gave him a quick nod and smile.

"Definitely." Janessa said as he stopped in front of her house, "Thanks for the ride again, Caleb."
