Chapter 10

Janessa laughed at Tyler's comment and walked over to him to give him a hug. She had really appreciated everything that he had done for her. His being super patient with her as she went through what she want through. She was super lucky to have a big brother like him. After hugging her brother, she whispered a quick 'I'm sorry' as he nodded his head. She moved to hug Reid next and he held her close to him. He had definitely missed her. It just wasn't the same when he would hang out with Tyler because he was used to Janessa being there half the time. He was happy that she decided to come out. "I missed you, baby girl." He whispered kissing her head.

"I missed you too. I'm sorry for everything." She said.

"It's okay. I can imagine what you were going through." He whispered as she nodded her head, "Shall we head inside?"

"Yeah." Pogue said as Janessa stayed close to Reid.

The group walked into Nicky's with Caleb watching Janessa and Reid. He was hurt that she didn't even talk to him. But watching on as Reid wrapped his arm around her shoulders, he somewhat felt jealous inside. But he couldn't understand why. He has always seen her as his little sister. But he had to admit that something about California had changed her. And it was a good change. As he followed the group in, he watched as Reid and Tyler made their way over to the pool table. Pogue and Janessa had gone to sit at a table so that they could hang out. Caleb made his way back to the table where Sarah and Kate were.

"Everything okay?" Sarah asked as she looked at him.

"Yeah. Sorry I took long." He said.

"It's okay." Sarah said, "Are you hungry?"

"No I think I'm good. Are you?" Caleb asked.

"Just a bit." Sarah told him.

"Do you want me to get you something to eat?" He asked.

"Sure that would be great." She said as he nodded his head.

Caleb stood up from his seat and turned his head to see Chase sitting down beside Janessa and Pogue. Pogue looked somewhat annoyed by Chase but didn't seem to want to say anything as Janessa was talking to Chase. Caleb wanted to walk over and say something. He wanted to tell Chase to leave her alone but he had no right to say anything. Janessa was allowed to talk to whoever she wanted to. It wasn't like they were dating. He turned his attention back to the bar area to grab Sarah something to eat. He had gotten her a cheeseburger with some fries and a coke. Walking back to the table, he could see Pogue excusing himself from the conversation between Janessa and Chase so that he could grab something to eat. Caleb took a seat next to Sarah and set her food down as she looked up to smile at him. "Thank you." She said as Caleb nodded his head.

Caleb finally got a chance to see what was going on around him. Of course Janessa was still deeply engrossed in a conversation with Chase. Pogue had gone to the bar to get something to eat. Reid and Tyler were somewhere here that Caleb couldn't tell where they were. But he knew that they were there. Caleb shook his head when he heard his name being mentioned. He looked at the two girls and asked, "Sorry what was that?"

"I said did you hear about the dead kid?" Kate asked as Caleb nodded his head, "Did you know him then?"

"I've seen him around but I wasn't like friends with him." Caleb said as Sarah looked at the both of them.

"That's really unfortunate that he had died." Sarah said.

"Yeah what do you guys think happened to him?" Kate asked as Caleb shrugged.

"Well where did you read about the kid?" Sarah asked.

"In the school article but it didn't specifically specify what happened to the kid. Just that they had found him in the car." Kate said.

"That's interesting. I would have thought that maybe they would have said something in there." Sarah said.

"That's what I thought too but whatever." Kate said as she turned her attention back to the table that Pogue sat at, "Do you think that he's over whatever that girl's name that moved away?"

Caleb looked at Kate with a desire to want to roll his eyes. Typical Kate. Still trying to win Pogue over. But Pogue refused to want to date Kate because he didn't see her as girlfriend material. She was somewhat clingy and Pogue wasn't down for that. Plus the fact that Kate wasn't fond of Janessa was a big no in Pogue's book. Janessa would always have a special place in his heart and Kate would never understand that or accept it then he wanted nothing to do with her. "Her names Samantha. And obviously you wouldn't understand that it would take him a while to get over him." Caleb said as they heard arguing coming from the pool tables.

Pogue, Janessa, and Chase turned their attention towards the pool table. Tyler and Reid were bickering with Aaron and his friends. Pogue turned to look at Caleb and nodded his head. Janessa was going to stand up but Pogue turned to kiss her head and said, "Stay here. I'll be back."

"Do you guys need some help?" Chase asked.

"No just stay here with Janessa." Pogue said as he got up and walked with Caleb.

Nicky was trying to get the guys outside to take care of their problems. Caleb and Pogue followed the guys outside. Janessa watched on wanting to be outside with the guys. But she turned back to Chase when he asked her, "Does this happen often?"

"Depends. Aaron can be an ass half the time so if anything he gets kicked out more than we do." Janessa said.

"I got that from the first encounter I had with him." Chase said.

"Well how's your first few months here been?" Janessa asked eyeing the entrance door to see if the guys were walking back in.

"They've been pretty good. Thanks for like taking the time to help me get comfortable here." He said.

"Oh yeah no problem! I know that if I were in your shoes, I would want hope that someone would take the time and help me adjust to this new environment." Janessa said as she felt her phone vibrating.

She had received a text message from Pogue that read: "Outside now." Chase looked at her before asking, "Is everything okay?"

"I have to go. I'll catch up with you later." Janessa said as she grabbed her jacket and headed for the door.

When she got closer, she could hear things being thrown outside. She threw her jacket on before rushing outside. She found Reid and Caleb fighting while Pogue and Tyler watched on trying to figure out how to stop the two from fighting. The two boys seemed to using. This wasn't a typical thing to happen between the group but seeing as this was the first time that this had happened, Janessa assumed that whatever was going on was a serious matter. She watched as Reid flew into a steel gate. "Caleb! That's enough!" She yelled as Caleb turned to look at her.

"Stay out of this, baby girl." Caleb said as Tyler rushed over to Reid and helped him to his feet.

"I will not stay out of this. What the hell is going on with you guys?" She asked walking down the steps to join them.

"Someone's been using." Caleb muttered.

"I wasn't using." Reid said.

"Well I felt it." Caleb said as Janessa shook her head, "And it was strong."

"I didn't use and you know it." Reid argued become agitated with Caleb as he walked away with Tyler following behind him.

"It's no use taking it out on each other." Tyler said.

"Tell that to Reid." Caleb said as Tyler shook his head and followed after Reid.

"I don't understand why you two are always butting heads with each other. Why can't you two just talk things out? If you have a problem with him, then tell him." Janessa said looking at Caleb and walked away to talk to Reid.

Pogue placed his hand on Caleb's shoulder and said, "Baby girl has a point. You don't exactly know that Reid was the one using. How do you know that he was the one doing it?"

"Well for one thing, you wouldn't do it. Tyler doesn't have the balls to do it." Caleb said.

"Yeah but that doesn't mean that Reid had done anything." Pogue said as Sarah came outside.

"Hey, is everything okay?" She asked as Pogue rolled her eyes.

"Yeah." Caleb said looking at her.

"You feel like going?" She asked.

"Yeah let's go." Caleb said as Pogue and him walked back towards her.
