Lincoln described his dream to Luna, a small hidden figure listened in the vents.

Now lets raise the curtains for the story to continue.

Chapter 5: Mostly Black

It was evening in the Loud House, after the belated birthday party for Lincoln. Lucy was less melancholy now that Lincoln was awake and home again. But his emotional reactions to the family, specifically their father confused her to no end. 'Something happened between them in his dream.' Lucy concluded. 'Maybe I should contact greatgrandma Harriet for advice?' She thought as she crawled into the vents and headed for the attic. As she passed the turn off to the vent in Lincolns room she stopped. 'I'm gonna check on him just for a second.' She thought to herself.

"Linc." Luna said knocking on his bedroom door. "Can I come in?"

"Of course Lu." Lincoln said. Luna opened the door walked in and closed it behind her before turning to look at Lincoln who was stripping off his clothes for bed. Luna blushed and turned around. "There is nothing to be embarrassed about Lu." He said before climbing into bed and patting the spot next to him. Luna walked over and sat down. Lucy was shocked, when had her brother become an exhibitionist

"Linc, I love you, and I want 'us' to be a thing in the future. So I need to know, what happened in your dream? Why are you so hostile with dad? What is so special about Liberty?" Luna asked her eyes welling with tears. Lucy quietly gasped, 'Luna loves Lincoln? When, how?'

"Well it all started with me confessing my love to you after the stabbing." Lincoln began. Lucy shoved her fist into her mouth to stay quiet at that revelation. 'Oh my!' She exclaimed in her head. She was about to turn to leave the two alone when she realized. 'This maybe my only chance to learn why Lincoln is so hateful of our father.' So she settled down trying to get as comfortable as possible.

The next few hours dragged on for what seemed like forever, as Lincoln told his tale. Lucy's heart was twisted, ripped out, and smashed by the horrible things that happened to her two siblings in his dream. 'He has always been there for us. Some more then others.' Lucy thought turning her attention back to the story.

"It took us two years to heal emotionally from that day. And another before you were willing to try again to carry a baby. We conceived Liberty on the day we finally got married. Dating for 4 years, engaged for 3. I will always remember how you looked walking down the isle, Mr. Grouce standing in for..." Lincoln took a breath. "Your dress was stunning, it hugged your curves just right and wasn't to plain or to gaudy. Leni is amazing when she puts her mind to something." Shaking his head to get back on topic.

Lucy nodded in unseen agreement. 'While not my usual taste even I can admit that Leni has an eye for fashion. Maybe she just needed a little push in the right direction.' Lucy though with a smile. 'You bring out the best and the worst in all of us Lincoln. My life would be so much darker without you in it.' The conversation drawing her attention once again.

"Luna I can't describe how beautiful all of our sisters grew up to be. Words just can't do them justice,..." Lincoln said. The rest of that conversation was lost as 4 words kept bouncing around in Lucy's head.

'He called me beautiful.' Lucy thought with a blush. 'No one, not even Rocky thought I was beautiful.' Rocky tried to bring her into the sunlight and tone down her gloominess. "When you love someone you don't try to change them you accept them for who they are" She had told him when they broke up.

"Who could possibly love you? Your so depressing all the time you might as well be a corpse." Rocky had snapped at her. 'Lincoln would.' She had thought to herself at the time.

"I want that life with you, just maybe without all the bad crap." Luna replied. Lucy began to cry softly wanting to be in Luna's position for once. 'I need love too.'

"Are you sure?" Lincoln asked. "Because if you say yes to me now, and change your mind I don't know what I will do."

'I would probably take my own life.' Lucy admitted through her tears.

"I have never been more sure of anything dude. I love ya Linc, with every beat of my heart." Luna replied.

'Me too.' Lucy quietly agreed with her sister.

"Then I guess we have work to do." Lincoln smiled with a yawn. "G'night honey, I love you."

"I love you too Linc. Sweet dreams." Luna whispered kissing his cheek.

Lucy sobbed quietly as she crawled her way to the attic. She pulled her self up and curled into a ball in a dark corner of the attic. "I'm in love with my brother, who is in love with my sister. And she loved him back. What should I do? What can I do? They can and probably will be happy together, and I want them to have that happiness. On the other hand I know that without his love I will drown in an ever spiraling pit of misery and woe." Lucy said to her self.

'Not all is lost child.' A sudden wind whispered to her.

"Great grandma Harriet?" Lucy asked.

'Well I'm definitely not your Pop-pop dear.' The wind replied.

"What should I do?" Lucy asked fresh tears falling from her face.

'Love is not something that can be measured and analyzed like one of your sisters experiments. Love is not finite.' The wind called out. 'Love is endless, and unfathomable. When seeing someone you love happy, even if they aren't with you, and it fills your heart with contentment and brightens the darkness that threatens to consume us all. That is love dear child.'

"I get that, and I do want them to feel the painful sorrow that is happiness even if it kills me." Lucy replied.

'Hush child.' The wind whispered as it whipped around Lucy's petite frame. 'What part of 'Love is endless' didn't you understand?'

"But..." Lucy stammered.

'Talk to them, if only to help yourself come to terms with this and be able to move on. You might be surprised at what you will find.' The wind whispered one last time before the attic became completely still.

"Thank you Great Grandma Harriet." Lucy said crawling back into the vent and heading for her and Lynn's room. 'Maybe she's right. The worst they can do is tell me no and ignore me for the rest of forever, but I don't find that likely.' She thought to herself as she climbed into her coffin. "Sigh, I'll talk to them tomorrow."
