("hey doc?")
("What is is S-1?)
("why am I always smiling?")
(He chuckled, "Why do ask that S-1?"
("b-because, uh, because I don't look like other skeletons?")
("Tch! You should already know the answer to that S-1.")
("i do..?")
("Well of course! You're a failed experiment S-1, therefore you look nothing like P-2, or me")
(S-1 looked at his creator, tears forming at the edges of his eye-sockets. "then why d-did you keep me around then?")
("Because," The scientist sneered down at his experiment. "you are so much more smarter then P-2, and you're so very fun to experiment on!")
...
Sans looked at his reflection, hating every bit of himself, especially his grin.
The short skeleton walked out of the bathroom, his mouth tugging into a genuine smile when he sees Papyrus making spaghetti.
"hey pap."
Papyrus looked over his shoulder to see his brother walk down the stairs, his mood dampening slightly at the dark circles under Sans' eye-sockets.
"HELLO DEAR BROTHER! HAVE YOU SLEPT WELL?"
Sans smiled at him, At least he seems to be in a good mood.
"slept like a rock bro."
Papyrus set down two plates of spaghetti, watching silently as Sans went to get a bottle of ketchup.
They both sat down at opposite ends of the table, Sans seems to be more of poking at Papyrus's great spaghetti instead of eating it.
"HEY SANS..." Papyrus started; Sans looked at his brother, confusion expressed on his face.
"HAVE YOU BEEN SLEEPING WELL? I'M VERY WORRIED FOR YOU SANS."
Sans sighed, suddenly finding it challenging to keep on his smile, don't be silly Sans! It'll never go away, that smile of yours. It'll haunt you forever.
"-NS? ARE YOU OKAY?" Papyrus looked at the grinning skeleton worriedly.
"yeah, i-i'm fine."
"REALLY? BECAUSE YOU ZONED OUT FOR BIT WHILE I WAS EXPRESSING MY WORRY TO YOU." Sans smiled a somewhat real smile as he took in Papyrus's voice.
They both sat in silence for a while after that, Sans wasn't really expecting much to happen during that period of time, opting to watch his spaghetti get cold.
So that's why he was left surprised when Papyrus walked around the table and hugged him. Not being able to take this, Sans started sobbing, not those ugly sobs, the sobs that no one will really notice, the quiet, most heart-breaking sobs.
Papyrus patted his back comfortingly, not very used to this happening.
"IS THIS ABOUT HIM AGAIN?" Papyrus asked quietly. Feeling Sans nod in his shoulder, Papyrus could feel some of his own tears streak Sans's jacket.
"HEY, HEY...IT'S FINE, HE'S NOT HERE TO HURT US ANYMORE. HE'S NOT HERE TO HURT YOU." He felt the smaller skeleton tremble in his arms.
"NOT ON MY WATCH."
...
Sans failed to dodge Frisk's attack, the knife slicing at his ribcage, he flinched, flashback to when he would cut at Sans whenhe was creating Papyrus.
Frisk smiled at him, their eyes looking panicked, though their posture deemed otherwise. Sans' eye-sockets hollowed out when the kid's mouth opened before he could deliver his line.
((HELLO S-1.))
Sans shuddered at the voice, wishing to whatever deity out there to help him.
((DON'T YOU REMEMBER ME?))
The skeleton really wished he dusted, but something must've been stopping time.
((DON'T BE AFRAID... GASTER IS HERE))
Tears started streaking down Sans' face at the name reveal, a grin still plastered on his face as he dusts.
But both of them thinks that it wasn't much of a reveal.
Sans and GASTER know why even in death and VOID.
And they think you know why too.
