Chapter 5: Chunin Exams Part 1
AN: I'm finally done with this chapter! It might not be as good as I want it to be but it will do. No that this chapter is done I can get the creative juices flowing again and I'll update again soon! Sorry for taking so long!

A month after their first C-Rank mission, Team 7 was seen at training ground 3 doing the usual team activities. Since team 7 was formed it has been hell for Kakashi and Naru. Besides the bitching and moaning of Sasuke there was the council.
Aside from that things are looking up for Naru's makeshift family, besides the occasional attempts to turn Haku into breeding stock. Their relationship is also improving.
Now we find Naru at her favourite establishment, Ichiraku ramen, at her 15th bowl and still going strong. "Hi there Naru-chan." Naru looked up and saw one of her favourite people. Inuzuka Hana. Hana has long brown hair which she wears in a ponytail with two locks of hair framing her face and, large, black eyes. She also wears a light shade of lipstick and has the traditional fang-like tattoos of the Inuzuka clan on both of her cheeks, in addition to a tattoo on her upper right arm that resembles a flower. She wears a form-fitting variation of the Konoha flak jacket which doesn't have any chest pockets and she keeps the front of her jacket unzipped. She also wears a pair of form-fitting shorts cut just above the knee, bandages just below her tattoo and wrist-warmers
Naru smiled at Hana. "Hi there Hana-neechan. How are you today?" Hana took a seat next to Naru and placed an order for miso ramen.
"I'm doing pretty good Naru. Do you know where Kakashi is?" Naru gave Hana a wink which caused her to blush.
"I wonder what nii-san would do if he found out you like him." Naru had a huge grin on her face. Hana looked at her with wide eyes.
"W-w-what are you talking about?!" Naru just smiled at her. "That obvious huh?" Hana's cheeks were as red as they come.
"Well it is for me. Nii-san is training the Uchiha and his banshee fan girl. Since they need it and I don't." Hana was shaking her head at the idea of the fan girl. The next few words from Hana made Naru blush so much that she could give Hinata a run for her money.
"So, you and Haku eh? Not a bad catch." Naru stopped eating the moment those words left Hana's mouth.
"I… uuhhh… I don't know what you're talking about." This time it was Hana's turn to have fun with Naru.
"No need to be shy Naru. Everyone can see you like him." Naru dropped her head in defeat. She couldn't deny it. She liked Haku no point in arguing.
Naru and Hana were enjoying their meal when Sasuke and Sakura decided to interrupt. "Hey loser. You missed the team meeting today."
Naru stopped eating and looked around. "Hey nee-chan, Did you hear something?" Hana could barely contain her laugh while Sasuke was seething.
"Hey! Stop ignoring Sasuke-kun" screeched the fan girl.
"Well I don't know about you but I tend to ignore annoying things. You two just happen to be annoying now go away. Shoo your spoiling my ramen." Retorted Naru before returned to eating her meal while Sasuke and Sakura stormed off to who knows where.
30 minutes later
Naru was minding her own business when she saw a make-up wearing clown ready to hit a child. Naru was inspecting the person and his partner. The male was wearing black, baggy, full body suit with a red and yellow circle on the front. He also wears a black hood which covered his head completely, and had cat-like ears, and what would appear to be makeup.
The girl has green eyes and blonde hair, which is gathered into four ponytails. Her outfit consists of a single light purple-colored, off-the-shoulders garment that extended to halfway down her thighs, with a scarlet sash tied around her waist. In addition to incorporating fishnet worn over her shoulders and legs, specifically on her right calf and her left thigh, she also wore her black forehead protector around her neck. "Kankuro! Let the boy go before HE shows up." The man now identified as Kankuro who was holding they boy who Naru identified as the grandson of the hokage, Konohamaru spoke up.
"This brat needs to be taught a lesson. Don't worry Temari we still have some time to kill." He was pulling back his arm to hit the child but before he could do anything he felt a blade pressed against his neck.
"Impossible! I didn't even sense her nearby!" Kankuro was sweating bullets while Temari was too shocked at the red haired girls speed to do anything.
"I would suggest you put the Hokage's grandson down nice and slow unless you feel like breathing through your neck." Naru's voice was emotionless and that scared Kankuro even more. Kankuro decided to comply with Naru's demands.
Naru backed up with Konohamaru. "Thanks nee-chan" Naru petted him on the head and smiled.
"No problem Konohamaru. Oh and by the way I don't think your other teammate is very happy with you." Naru was pointing at the tree next to the two nins. The look of fear could be seen on their faces when a red haired boy appeared in a swirl of sand.
He has fair skin and short, spiky, red hair. He has pale blue-green eyes. He wore black full body suit with t-shirt-like sleeves, ¾-length legs, and an open neck. With this, he wore a white cloth over his right shoulder and the left side of his hips, and a wide leather band system over the left shoulder and right side of his hips. With this leather band, he carried around his gourd. He also wrapped his black forehead protector over the band.
"G-Gaara!?" Naru noticed the look of fear on Kankuro's face told Naru that Gaara is a powerful shinobi.
'Hey Kurama? Do you feel something from that kid?' After a moment of silence.
'I believe he is the Jinchūriki of the ichibi Shukaku.' 'No wonder they are afraid of him. Rumor has it he is unstable.' Naru though to herself.
"Yo Ichi. I'm Kyuu. Nice to meet you." Naru was laughing in her mind at the look on the sand nins faces. It was priceless.
"Mother demands your blood" Gaara retorted.
Naru on the other hand was confused. 'Hey Kurama? Is Shukaku a male of female?'
'Shukaku is known for being insane so he is probably messing with the kids mind into thinking that it is his mother.' Replied Kurama.
Naru thought on the information for a few seconds. 'Well that's just messed up.' Naru looked at Gaara. "You do know Shukaku is a male right?" Kankuro and Temari face palmed.
'Of all the things to worry about.' Thought the fox.
Naru chuckled at the actions of the two. "Well since you are here for the chunin exams we will probably see each other there." Naru turned around and walked passed Sasuke and Sakura. "Enjoy the show?" Naru didn't wait for their answer and just kept walking.
Namikaze Compound
Naru was lying on the roof looking at the stars. A voice awoke her from her staring. "Mind if I join?" The voice belonged to none other than Haku.
"S-sure" Haku sat next to her and they remained there in silence.
"Naru, Can I ask you a question?"
Naru chuckled "You already did. But you can ask another one." Naru noticed that Haku was a bit nervous.
"Umm will you go on a date with me?" whispered Haku with a blushed.
"Sorry I couldn't hear you." Haku passed Hinata in the way he was blushing.
"Um I uh will you go on a date with me?" Naru almost fainted. The Guy she likes actually asked her on a date. She formed the ram seal and shouted "KAI" but nothing happened.
'He actually asked me on a date! I can't believe it!' It was Naru's turn to surpass the blush queen. "I um Okay" Haku smiled.
"What about tomorrow?" Naru just nodded. She didn't trust her voice. Haku left Naru to her thoughts.
'So the little kit got a date eh? Good for you. You deserve it after everything you have been through.' Naru smiled
'Thanks Kurama.'
She didn't notice Kakashi watching her. "The Sandaime was right. This team was a fresh start for her. And it looks like old wounds are finally starting to heal." You couldn't see it due to the mask, but Kakashi was smiling.
The Next day. . .
Naru barely slept during the night. She was too excited and nervous. She doesn't have experience in this sort of thing and she doesn't want to mess it up. So a visit to Hana it is.
Inuzuka Compound
Naru arrived at the Inuzuka compound looking for Hana. "Hana-neechan! Are you home?" She saw the door opening and out came Hana.
"Morning Naru. You are here early. What's up?" Naru looked at the ground before speaking.
"I need some advice." Hana cocked an eyebrow. "Help with what?" She noticed the blush that on Naru's face. "Haku asked me out on a date last night so I was wondering if you could give me some advice."
Hana smiled. "Finally eh? It's about time if you ask me. Come inside I'll help you get ready" Naru was smiling all the way into the house.
Namikaze Compound
Haku was asking Kakashi for advice on where to take Naru for their date. Kakashi gave Haku his famous eye smile that said 'If anything happens to her I'll make your life the living hell' Haku understood the hidden message and started to prepare for the date.
The rest of the day went by fast. Haku was waiting in front of the Namikaze compound for Naru. He was wearing black ANBU style pants with black sandals and a white shirt. He didn't have to wait long for Naru as the front door opened. Naru was wearing cloths similar to Tsunade's. A Yellow kimono-style blouse with no sleeves held closed by a broad, black obi that matches her pants. She also wore black sandals.
Haku was staring at Naru so she decided to tease him a bit to get rid of the butterflies. "Like what you see?" He nodded his head while barely registering what she said. "So where are we going?" She asked him since he didn't tell her what they were going to do.
He just smiled. "It's a surprise." Haku placed his hand or her shoulder and used the Shunshin no jutsu (Body flicker technique) to move to the Hokage monument.
They arrived at Naru's favorite place, on top of her father's head where a blanket and a basket was waiting for them. "I asked Kakashi-san where you like to spend your time and he told me it's either here, the training grounds or the ramen stand." Naru chuckled. So they spent their evening having a picnic on the fourth's head.
"This is so nice." Naru said as she took a bit of chocolate cake. She didn't hear him whisper "Just for you"
They arrived back at the Namikaze compound via Shunshin no jutsu. "Thank you Haku. I had a wonderful evening." She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and rushed inside. Haku just stood there waiting for his brain to reboot. He brought his hand up to where Naru kissed him and smiled. He thought to himself 'Just you wait. I'll get you for that'
The next morning was the start of the chunin exams. Naru was approaching the academy and she could already hear Sakura yelling.
"Haruno-san. Is it really necessary to be so loud so early in the morning?" Naru asked after a yawn. "You're late Naru-baka!" screeched the pink haired banshee. Naru looked her in the eyes and Sakura flinched feeling the effects of Naru's killing intent. "Good girl. Now be quiet." Naru moved closer to Sakura and whispered in her ear "If you ever call me a baka again. I will kill you." Naru's tone of voice told Sakura that she wasn't kidding. "Now that that's out of the way, let's go."
They entered the Academy again for the first time in months, but this time it was to be a chunin not a genin. They made their way up the stairs to see a group of people. "Let us in!" someone in the group said. One of the two standing at the door looked at them.
"Look we are doing you a favour; you would just kill yourself if we let you pass." One said.
'Genjutsu, hope the Uchiha doesn't say anything. That door is for room 206 not 306 where the exams are.' Naru thought as she turned to her team only to hear Sasuke.
"Drop the Genjutsu; this is only the second floor." With a smug smile followed by our non favorite pink banshee scream. "Yeah, I so saw through it!"
Naru just shocked her head. "Way to go, you just gave us more competition." She said and walked up the stairs, but was stopped by a boy with a black forehead protector that he wore snugly over his forehead. He wore a khaki shirt, under which he wore a dull blue shirt with mesh armour underneath it, dark brown shorts, and blue shinobi sandals. He also had bandages wrapped around his right arm, chest, and right leg. He stared with cold pupil-less violet eyes. "Who are you?" he asked in a deep indifferent voice.
"Naru Uzumaki, and you are?"
"Neji Hyuuga." And walked away Naru looked after him.
'What was that all about?' she thought as she walked up the stairs with Sasuke following and a creped out Sakura.
~10 min. later~
They entered the room and were hit with KI from all the other teams. Naru was about to return it when she heard a screech. "SASUKE-KUN! Did you miss me?" Ino asked hugging him. She wore a short purple vest like blouse with a raised collar, a purple apron skirt that is cut off on the sides and bandages on her stomach and legs. She also wore purple and white elbow warmers with this, and her Hitai-ate around her waist as a belt. Her long, blonde hair was in a high-ponytail with bangs covering the right side of her face with green eyes.
"Hands off Ino-pig!" Sakura yelled.
"Why? You know he likes me better, Forehead girl!" they argued as the other rooky graduates gathered and talked.
This continued until a young teen boy walked up. He wore a pair of black rimmed circular glasses with his onyx eyes and ash-grey hair, kept in a ponytail that extends to his upper back, with his bangs framing either side of his forehead, he wore a dark purple shirt with a high collar, a white under-shirt, dark purple fingerless gloves with armoured plates on the back of the hand, a white cloth waistband worn at an angle, dark purple pants, blue sandals, and a shuriken holster on his right leg.
"You know you should be quieter, if you haven't noticed the tense atmosphere." He said in a calm voice." Said the new guy but before he could continue there was an explosion of smoke in the other end of the room.
"All right brats. Sit down and Shut up. My name is Ibiki and I am the proctor for the first test." Ibiki went on to explain the rules. "Alright you may begin!"
After 45 minutes the test was done. "Alright ready for the final question? The rules for the question are simple. You can either not take the question but you will fail immediately but you would be allowed to take the exams again at a later date. Or you could take the question but if you get it wrong you will be banned from the chunin exams forever" Ibiki was smiling on the inside. So many genin are having second thoughts about the question.
A few teams decided that they weren't going to take the risk. "All right those remaining all . . . . Pass!"
There was a chorus of "WHAT!" going through the room. Ibiki explained how the first part of the test was to test their information gathering skills and the second part was to see if they would take a risk without all the facts.
As soon as Ibiki was done some one came crashing through the window. This person has violet hair and was wearing a tan overcoat with a mesh shirt underneath with a dark orange mini-skirt and pale grey shin guards.
Behind her was a poster with bold letters reading : "The sexy and single Anko Mitarashi"
Ibiki came out from behind the poster. "You're early again Anko."
Anko looked at him and then back at the class. "You're losing you're touch old man. There are still so many teams left." Ibiki just shook his head. "Alright brats. Meet me at training ground 33 in 30 minutes."
Naru and her team arrived with the rest of the teams after 20 minutes. "Alright listen up brats. This is training ground 33 or the forest of death as some call it." Some of the genin were already scared.
Anko began to explain the rules and gave them the consent forms that they have to fill in. "Alright everyone to your gates."
Naru, Sasuke and Sakura were heading to gate 13 when Naru spoke up. "So what's the plan?"
"Just follow me. I am an Uchiha elite so this will be easy" said Sasuke.
'Sasuke-kun is sooo cool!' were Sakura's thoughts.
They heard the start signal and the gates opened. The trio disappeared into the woods heading for the tower.
About half way through the day the team was attacked by a team from Amegakure but they were defeated rather easily and they got the earth scroll they needed.
The following day team 7 was making their way to the tower when they were interrupted by a strong wind that sent Naru flying.
With Naru
"Damn that hurt. That was definitely no genin." Stated Naru. She was about to walk away when she felt something behind her. Jumping away on instinct a giant snake crashed into the area she was standing in hopes of eating her.
"Well a warm up seems good." Naru made a showdown clone and both began a chain of hand seals Naruto took a deep breath while the clone did the same. "Katon: Gókakyú no jutsu!" A large fireball came out of the Naru's mouth. The clone shot a ball of condensed air out of his mouth "Fuuton: Daitoppa!" the ball of wind merged with the fireball creating a large flaming ball of death which headed straight for the poor snake.
After the fire died down NAru saw the snake lying there but was shocked when it disappeared in a burst of smoke. 'It's a summon! There are only two people that can summon and that was not one of Anko's summons.' Naru's eyes widened "Orochimaru!"
Naru made it back to her team just to see as the pedo bit Sasuke. "Orochi-chan!" shouted Naru as she landed next to her team.
The snake sannin looked at the read head. "Don't interrupt me brat."
Naru pouted. "Awww Orichi-chan doesn't want to play!" Naru disappeared in burst of speed only to appear in front of Orochimaru and punch him in the face.
Orochimaru was sent flying back into a tree. He look a bit shaken but otherwise fine. "You'll pay for that brat." Shouted Orochimaru.
To the sock of everyone there Naru vanished in a flash of crimson only to punch the pedo in the face again. "You have been marked Orochi-chan!" Naru formed a Rasengan in her hand. "You better leave unless you want me to shove this into your face!" said Naru
Orochimaru's eyes widened at the fact that this girl can use both of the yondaime's jutsus. "You win this time brat. Fortunately I already did what I came here to do." The pedo turned to a barely awake Sasuke "I'll see you soon Sasuke-kun." Orochimaru sank into the ground and disappeared.
Naru dispelled the Rasengan and went to her team. "Well he doesn't seem that beat up, A good rest and He'll be fine. We need to get to the tower." Naru picked Sasuke up and made her way to the tower. Sakura followed in silence.
After spending two and a half days in the forest of death, team 7 made it to the tower. As they reached the tower, Sasuke finally decided to wake up. They entered the tower to find a message. "I think we should open the scrolls." Said Naru
They opened the scrolls and smoke came out of it. "Drop the scrolls!" Shouted Naru as she tossed the open scroll to the ground while Sakura did the same.
The smoke finally cleared to reveal an eye smiling Kakashi.
"Sensei!" shouted Sakura. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to congratulate you on passing the second test. Now since you are two days early you can relax until the time is up. Follow me I'll show you to your rooms." Said Kakashi.
