Kuranosuke x Kagome
The woman screeched, the blow snagging her in the shoulder and throwing her off her feet.
Higurashi Kagome cursed under her breath for not having seen her sooner, knowing that the demon was likely to use civilians if it meant a better advantaged against her. She clenched her teeth, her course changing in an instant to rush to the injured woman, while the demon fled back into the shadow away from her sight. It probably planned to double back around. Strike her in the back while she was attempting to help the person that needed her.
The sutra hit the ground a moment before she reached the woman, burning away when she crossed the line that had suddenly etched into the grass. The barrier rose immediately, and she smiled a little. That would keep the demon at bay for at least a little while, giving her enough breathing room to make sure she could properly protect herself and the innocent it had chosen to involve.
Miroku and Kaede would be proud to know she had paid attention to them over the years, at least a little bit.
Moving toward the other woman, Kagome noted that her stylish blouse had been ripped clean open with the blow. She blinked for only a moment, noticing the padding that had spilled forth on that side, but shook the thought away as quickly as it had come. There was not any time for her to stop and wonder about the other woman's choice to overly exaggerate her breast size, not when there was a homicidal demon lurking on the edge of her senses.
A sigh of relief escaped her when she heard a slight groan from the woman, watching her eyes blink open slowly when she knelt down at her side. They were a really lovely shade of soft purple. "Hey there," Kagome smiled, hoping that it was reassuring. "I know you're probably really confused right now, and I would love to explain, but I need you to trust me so that I can get us both somewhere safe, okay?"
"What… happened?" the baritone was a little weird on such a pretty woman.
'You were extremely lucky that an ancient, rampaging demon was intelligent enough to create a distraction instead of outright chopping off your head? Your life is now in extreme peril unless you do every single little thing the pretty priestess tells you?' That would go over so well, Kagome sighed quietly to herself.
The woman shifted her weight, her oddly perfect golden locks shifting beneath her as she attempted to rise. A hiss left her mouth, her arm buckling underneath her, and leaving her slightly crumpled against the ground.
Immediately the priestess hovered over her, broken from her train of thought. Her mouth creased downward into a frown, watching the blonde cringe away from her left side. Her movements were gentle and precise, brushing away the golden locks to peer closer at the injury that the demon had inflicted. "Fuck," she cursed.
The black ooze bubbled up from under the skin.
A sharp gasp filled the air the moment her hand began to glow with a pale blue light, skimming across the flesh. Kagome's mind drifted away from the physical world for a brief second, focusing completely on the poison that had entered the woman's system. Her holy magic flared brighter, purifying the demonic energy within the span of a single breath, before she came back to herself.
"Uh," the stylish woman blinked those large purple eyes at her sudden proximity.
Kagome felt her cheeks tint slightly, though she shook it off easily enough. Her hand brushed across the newly knitted skin on the other woman's shoulder, a smile touching her lips once more. "Does it still hurt?" she asked.
The woman rolled her shoulder in absolute amazement for a moment, saying, "No. How did you..?"
"There's no time for that." Kagome shook her head, placing a gentle hand onto the other woman's arm. They did not have much time before the barrier finally fell, the holy energy powering the sutra was already running thin. She was almost surprised the demon was not standing on the other side, salivating at the thought of eating her flesh. "Do you think you can walk?"
"Um, yeah, I… I think so." The thought came to a shrieking halt the moment she attempted to move, Kagome keeping a gentle grip on her arm as support. She was clearly still a little disoriented, but the sharp cry she released was a clear sign of pain from moving her leg.
The priestess felt the need to sigh once more, realizing her mistake. She had focused so completely on the poison that she had not thought to make sure that the woman had not broken a bone or two during her flight. Stupid, stupid! There were times when she really wished she could go back to the days when her holy energy wildly healed everything at once without her realizing it.
But, they would probably both be dead right now if that was the case.
Kagome began pulling at the other woman's skirt ruffles before she even began to speak, searching for the exact area where the bone had probably snapped. She needed to do this quickly, before the barrier fell, so that even if they did not have the chance to run, she at least knew she did not have a sitting target stacked against her favor. "I'm going to heal your leg, just like before. I promise that you won't feel anything, okay?"
"Um…"
Kagome glanced up, her hands showing clear frustration with the amount of ruffles that the other woman had chosen to wear today. She really could not have worn something practical today, of all days? It was not even the weekend! "Oh!" Kagome flashed another small smile, saying, "My name is Kagome, by the way. Higurashi Kagome. What's yours?"
There was the beginning of a rosy tint beneath the other woman's make-up, as she quietly said, "Kuranosuke. Koibuchi Kuranosuke." The adrenaline was probably starting to kick in now, driving away the pain and bringing the situation into clear focus. That, and maybe a bit of hero worship.
Her hand brushed up against something, as she finally yanked the skirt up high enough to find the woman's leg. There was the beginning of a bruise there, and Kagome gave another bright smile to the blonde beneath her. "It'll only take a moment, okay, Kuranosuke?"
Perfectly golden locks nodded.
The pale blue light filled her hand.
There was a thought nagging at the back of her mind.
Kurano...suke.
The priestess yerked a little, the light in her hand flickering.
That was… that was… Kuranosuke was… a man's name.
That meant that when she had… she had… Oh Amaterasu, she had touched…!
"Um?" Kuranosuke blinked, watching the pretty magic girl as she suddenly turned a bright shade of red.
She had touched his… "WHAATTT?!"
