Haruka x Kagome
"Why am I doing this again?" Higurashi Kagome asked herself for the hundredth time. Her grip on her school bag was deadly, as she gazed out over the water that filled the pool. It was just a silly dare, anyway. Get in the pool, snap a quick photo on her phone, and get out. It was simple, really, yet… Kagome had this uncanny sense of foreboding.
Oh god, what if Nagisa saw her while she…?
Her eyebrow twitched, as she said, "I'm definitely not doing this."
She almost sighed, her feet refusing to move, knowing that that thought was just silly itself. Why would any of the Iwatobi Swim Club still be on the school premises at this time of night? It was well after their practice hours. That was the entire reason Kou had insisted she come at this time, knowing that she would have flat out refused if there was any possibility of one of the club members seeing her while she…
"I hate you, Matsuoka Kou," she grumbled. The school bag dropped onto the cement, Kagome felt her face start to redden as she finally reached up and began tugging on the bow tied around her neck so she could get to the buttons underneath. She should not be doing this. She had just barely gotten into this high school after her poor performance in middle school, and she should definitely not be doing this. What would her mother say back home? "I hate you. I hate you."
The dark gray blazer hit the ground first. Kagome fiddled with the opening in her shirt, having undone all the buttons, and knowing that she could still chicken out at this point. The water was too cold, and she was afraid she would get sick, she would say. Surely Kou would believe that? She had had a mysterious list of illnesses in middle school, after all, and she just was not sure if this sort of activity would be forcing her luck!
Her white button up shirt hit the concrete with the thought. What would her friends in the feudal era say if they knew that she was using her grandfather's excuses for her absence as a reason to get out of skinny dipping? Inuyasha would call her a wuss, no doubt, that was for sure. She could almost hear him from this side of the well, despite the fact that it had permanently closed with the completion of the Shikon no Tama.
Kagome quickly began to shimmy out of the rest of her clothes, knowing at this point that she was definitely doing this. It was completely stupid, but she was doing it. She had traveled through time; survived her soul being torn in two; been kidnapped countless times; fought actual demons; and been trapped inside a jewel. What reason did she have to be scared of a pool?
Finally kicking off her panties, she took a deep breath and bent down to dig through her bag in search of her phone. At least Kou had picked a day where the weather was fair. It would almost be like bathing in a stream in the past… minus the demon slayer constantly on the lookout for anyone that might try to take a peek.
Shaking her head, Kagome pulled her phone from the bag and quickly stood up. Her shoulders straightened, she took one step, then another, until she was finally standing on the edge of the pool. She scowled a little, knowing that the water was probably going to be a bit cold by now. It would probably for the best if she just went for it. She nodded, setting her phone down on the edge of the pool so she could easily reach it, before taking a step back to get a slight running start.
"Now or never," she said.
She dove off the edge of the pool a moment later, stretching her arms out in front of her, and sucked in a breath before she hit the water. Swimming had often been her sport of choice when she was younger, and she relished the feeling of being submerged, despite the cold that suddenly bit at her skin when she met the pool's surface. She stayed under for a moment or two, swimming a little further out into the pool than was necessary.
Flipping her hair back behind her when she surfaced, Kagome felt something tingle along the edge of her senses. It was not until she heard something heavy hit the ground that she finally whirled around, her eyes widening, and hoping that Kou had decided to come make sure she would live up to her word or not.
"Ka—" Nanase Haruka's blue eyes widened, his face turning stark red, "—Kagome?"
Starring the the vice-captain of the Iwatobi Swim Club with her mouth hanging open, Kagome felt her face redden even further underneath his gaze. She felt frozen, unable to move, having known this was an absolutely awful idea.
"You're…" Haruka swallowed, unable to finish his sentence.
However, it reminded Kagome of one very important fact, as her eyes suddenly snapped down to her breasts. Quickly throwing her arms around herself, Kagome did what any modern era girl in her place would have done.
She screamed.
