Chapter Ten
Trinity stares brokenly and hopelessly as Ratchet works endlessly on Ironhide. She wasn't sure how long she was standing there for, but the woman knew that it was a very long time. No doubt thanks to General Morshower and her uncle was she able to watch the procedures with Ironhide for as long as she was able to. Her hands twitched to touch Ironhide, to just use whatever power that is stored inside her to save him. Of course, none of her friends or family would even let her near him for fear of whatever 'power' that was inside her should kill her. Trinity did not flinch or even acknowledge when a person touched her shoulder, merely she only stared at Ironhide, wiling him to pull through and not give up.
"Ratchet's doing all that he can, Hart." General Morshower tells her quietly. "Come on, I have Director Fury on the line."
With a quiet sigh, the younger woman let her be directed away from the medical bay. She nodded to Phil, Sam, Stone, and Steve when they passed them and into an empty soundproof room. Morshower closed all the blinds before hitting a few buttons on a computer, Fury coming online on the large screen, nodding his greeting to the two of them.
"As I am sure you have heard, Director Fury, the Decepticons are after Agent Hart."
Fury frowns, "The questions is, however, why?"
Trinity sighs, stepping forward. "It could be many things, Director, but what I do believe the real reason is to retrieve the information that the All Spark had imprinted in my mind." she looked to the General to make sure that Fury knew what she was talking about. When he gave her a slight nod, Trinity continued by saying, "When my cousin was imprinted from the piece of All Spark with the location of the Matrix, the Decepticons went after him and me. When they captured me, they looked into my mind, infecting me with whatever All Spark piece they had. The visions of Cybertronian symbols I had started to get after what they did to me finally stopped when the Matrix location was found."
Fury frowns, looking between the two NEST agents. "And you have this Matrix with you now?"
"Negative, Optimus has the Matrix now, for eight years or so." Morshower tells him.
"What I have, Director," Trinity starts slowly, "is the power to look inside any Autobot and Decepticon, heal or destroy them, speak and read Cybertronian symbols. Even after Optimus took hold of the Matrix, this ability that I had received had not gone away."
"It is possible that the Decepticons may be after Agent Hart to make her revive their dead leader, Megatron." Morshower tells him. "Or even make new Decepticons."
Fury frowns further, his mind no doubt wondering. "What are you suggesting of doing, then?"
"For now, only retrieving information." Trinity tells him, "We need to know for sure before making any plan of action. We, especially the Autobots, don't want to start a war with the Decepticons if it's avoidable."
Fury sighs, "Very well, keep me posted."
As he signed off, Trinity turned to the General. "Was it really the right call to bring in the Avengers?"
Morshower sighs, "We need all the help we can get, you know this. What, with most congress and senators wanting to stop all organizations with the Autobots, they're not all willing to send us anymore help."
Trinity snorts as they made their way to the door. "Yeah, and soon enough they'll be hunting us down, as well as the Autobots."
The four men they saw earlier stood up right from leaning against the wall, all but Sam nodding to the General. With one last comfort hand to Trinity's shoulder, Morshower walked in the direction of the main building, while Trinity walked back down to the sick bay for the Autobots, the men following after her. She returned back to her spot she was before Morshower interrupted her, her thoughts and heart back with Ironhide as thoughts of her talk with Fury taking a turn in the backseat for now.
"You need to eat, Rini." Phil told his niece worriedly.
"I'm not hungry, but I promise I will eat soon." Trinity spread her feet and crossed her arms, letting her family and friends know that she was not leaving just yet.
"Acree and Mirage came back. The Decepticons have been completely destroyed." Stone tells her, hoping that would bring her out of the trance she was in.
"Good," Trinity muttered darkly.
Before anyone can say anything else, Ironhide suddenly cried out, his body jumping up as Ratchet stood back. The medical Autobot quickly rushed forward when Ironhide's body flopped back down. Trinity had rushed forward, but was held back when she came a foot away from him, the woman trying her hardest to reach the Autobot. She hated the fact that she was so close to her friend and had the power to help him, but everyone continued to stop her.
"No, Trinity!" Ratchet tells her. "If you touch him as he is and in your emotional state, who knows what can happen when you decided to use that power inside you."
Trinity merely held on to the arms holding her back and up right, staring solely at the injured Autobot. "Come back, Ironhide. Don't leave me again." she whispered as the person hauled her away.
The woman continued to look back, not wanting to lose sight of the dear Autobot until they passed a wall that separated them. Trinity closed her eyes and leaned against the strong, familiar body. Oh, how she wanted to familiarize herself to that body in the privacy of behind closed doors. Trinity wasn't sure what it was that she was feeling for this man, but what she did know was the fact that whatever was to happen between them would probably be a one-time thing as they were from two different worlds and work in completely different agencies that seeing each other would be difficult.
"I'm okay, Cap. You can put me down now."
Steve stopped and did just that, Trinity patting his arm but not looking up at him. "Thanks. Now, how about a bit of sparring before eating?"
Steve opened his mouth to declined, not wanting to hurt her, but the woman was already walking away. He was concerned for her on many levels that it scared him. He wasn't sure what his feelings were for the woman, he couldn't really compare it to anything but his one time with Peggy–even then it was a short time thing–and he was afraid that either one of them or even both would get hurt.
"She was talking out loud, Cap." Stone tells him. "She usually spars to rid frustration with the newbies. It helps keep them on their toes too." he shrugs.
"Come on," Sam tells them, muttering, "before she either kills them or make them quit."
Steve frowned, looking between Phil, Stone, and Sam with concern. "But she shouldn't be sparing for a while, at least. She can reopen her wound!"
Phil snorts at this, "Yeah, that's not going to stop her!"
Stone groaned for the umpteenth time as Trinity had threw him over her shoulder and hitting the mat hard. When none of the newbies wanted to spar with Trinity any longer, Stone had volunteered. Now, however, he remembered why he hated sparring with her when she was in this state. Due to being in the zone and angry at the world, Trinity was like the Great Wall of China–impossible to penetrate. Looking up from the ground, he saw everyone, including Phil and Steve, wincing at him, no doubt feeling the pain that he just received–which most of the men had already felt before him. Sam had left long ago to find Carly, no doubt to get away from all the humiliation the men were receiving from Trinity.
"Oh, I'm so done!" he groaned, slowly getting up.
"Come on! I can still go at it!" Trinity yelled at him.
Stone shook his head, looking to Phil. "You have a go!"
Phil shook his head, "Hell no, I'm not stupid!" he looked up to the frowning newbies. "No offense to you guys, you didn't know."
"Oh, come on! Somebody fight me!" Trinity cried, rolling her neck.
She had shed the jacket a while ago when she begun to sweat slightly. At first Stone couldn't help but notice the shine of her skin, thinking thoughts that were not new to him. However, that all changed the second he started to spar with Trinity and now all he liked was to get away from her and her frustration. He knew that there was no one else who wanted to spar, and those who would go at it with her are now thousands of miles away.
Phil gave him a sympathy look, Stone glowering instead as he slowly got up, his back cracking just the slightest. Suddenly the area became silent and both Phil and Stone looked to see that Steve walked forward, not saying a single word. He was still wearing his uniform, however he had stopped wearing his mask once he knew that he can trust the NEST agents–not to mention a threaten lecture from Optimus. He took off his shield and placed it near the mats, walking until he was now standing before Trinity.
Stone felt his anger and jealousy rise, but pushed it to the back, remembering that he was the only person willing to spar with Trinity–and possibly not get humiliated by her, so giving a bit of credit back to the male species. Due to the super-soldier serum, Steve was literally a rock! No doubt in the other man's mind that Trinity will soon tire and would likely go to bed after this–which is what she needs.
Trinity grinned, popping her neck from side to side before getting into a stance. Steve stopped a few feet from her and merely looked on, no doubt watching her every move. Being impatient due to the restlessness that she was feeling, Trinity charged at him, kneeling and tripping Steve. He flipped and blocked a punch from her before flipping her over his shoulder. Stone winced, as did everyone in the training area, Trinity groaning in both pain and frustration. She quickly got up and rushed towards the Captain.
The both of them kicked, punched, blocked, and circled each other, the spar gathering everyone's attention, including the Autobots. Trinity cried out when she was thrown to the floor again, crying out as she got up and charged at Steve once again. Stone and Phil knew that Steve was holding back so as to not hurt Trinity, but still giving his all to placate her. After a few more minutes, Trinity finally tripped the man out of time, but not before he kicked her feet from under her.
Trinity groaned and was about to get up when Steve straddled her, holding her arms at her side, looking as serious as though he was at a meeting before a battle. Everyone knowing that the fight was over, handed money over before dispersing from the training area. Stone, feeling jealousy rise inside him again, told Phil he was going to the medical ward–and then find a drink afterwards. He didn't want to see the attraction that was obvious between Trinity and the Captain. And also having to admit that Trinity no longer cared for him as she once did.
Phil also walked away, praying to his deceased sister to watch over Trinity and to not get hurt. Because truth be told, Phil liked Steve–he was his idol, for God's sake! –but if he broke his niece's heart Phil will say something since he can't hurt the super soldier out of time. The Autobots also dispersed, amused by the fight and disappointed that it ended quickly for their liking. Optimus, however, stayed behind, watching the interaction between Trinity and the other man with curiosity and concern.
The concern had to do with the fact that the man worked with a completely different government agency and Optimus was afraid of letting her go. Not because she was a good agent and a great asset to both NEST and the Autobots, but because she was a great friend that was also family, and he would hate to lose her.
Steve watched as Trinity tried to catch her breath, trying hard not to think about her breasts pressing up against his chest every time she inhaled. Not even out of breath, Steve merely stared into the woman's trouble grey eyes, hoping to help ease all that worry from her shoulders that was obvious she was carrying. The woman continued to struggle against him, trying to push him off. But Steve knew that she wouldn't be able to as he had perfected the holding move on Natasha–of course, the Black Widow probably let him as she's a master in the arts of fighting, among other things. Though it wasn't as appealing and hot with his fellow Avenger as it was with Trinity.
Finally, Trinity sighs, relaxing her entire body as she closed her eyes, her breathing now under control. "I know I was a bitch to everyone, but I can't help feel that all this is my doing."
Steve frowned down at her, "But it's not. You didn't ask to get imprinted by whatever it was that you were imprinted with. None of you knew what it was going to do to a human."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Trinity whispered, opening her eyes. "Thanks for putting my ass on check, by the way."
Steve smiled softly at her. "No problem, I don't mind checking your ass again."
Trinity's eyes widen suddenly as she stared up at him, her mouth slightly opened with surprise and amusement. As the words he said started to sink in, he felt his entire face turn red as he stuttered an explanation of what he had meant. Trinity then started to laugh, making Steve turn even redder, kicking himself for letting his mouth do all the talking. Continuing to apologize, he was about to let her go and walk away when she suddenly leaned up and kissed him. Well, it was more of a peck to the lips, but a kiss nonetheless, and that immediately shut him up.
"Thank you, Cap." she then grinned roguishly, "And thanks for checking my ass."
He wasn't sure what it was that did it for him, the grin she sent him or the fact that he's been on top of her, holding her down, but Steve swooped down and kissed her hard and fast. As he was pulling away, Trinity actually leaned up to follow him, apparently wanting to continue the kiss. Steve complied and leaned back down, letting her wrists go to intertwine their fingers. A loud throat clearing could be both heard and felt, Steve quickly pulling back, his entire face complete red. Trinity sighs, looking upside down at Optimus, whom was looking down at them with a stern, and amused, look.
"Optimus," Trinity said, her hold on Steve not loosening.
"Ironhide is stabled again. Ratchet is working on him again but he thinks that maybe you can help him in repairing what he couldn't."
Trinity sighs, letting Steve go completely, the man quickly getting up. He held out a hand to her and pulled her up, the both of them staring at each other before Steve remembered where they were and let her go. Shaking her head, she looked back up at Optimus, who was looking down at her amused, but keeping a straight face for the sake of the embarrassed Avenger.
"I'll go see what it is that I can do."
Optimus then stopped her, Steve looking panic and turning to the woman who had stopped near the hallway at the Autobots words. "Before you see Ratchet, you should have a medic take a look at the wound on your side that you just reopened."
Seeing her look down, as Steve just did, he saw the blood starting to soak through the black material. Trinity sighs and nods, walking away once again. She throws up a hand in farewell, saying, "Don't scare him too much, Optimus. I actually like the super soldier."
A/N: Sorry for the long wait, especially on my other stories. I'm working ten hour shifts at work, six days a week, because my store manager got a promotion and went to another location. I don't know when I'll get help, so for now updates are really going to be slow until they can bring someone in. Well, please review and let me know what you think!
