Chapter Eleven

"I'm not going to hurt her," was the first thing Steve told the Autobot as soon as Trinity was out of ear shot. "I would rather die a hundred times then ever hurt her."

He looked up at the giant, alien robot, trying to gauge his reaction, but the man was a bit like Fury in the fact that he's able to hide his emotions very well. Optimus hummed, looking down at the strange human whom seemed to understand somewhat of what he was thinking. Or, perhaps, it is the same that he was thinking as well?

"I know you won't." Optimus tells him, sighing down at the strong human. "What I am afraid of, is when you two do get together finally, Rini will decide to follow you to your SHIELD organization."

Steve smiles softly up at the alien robot. "Mr. Prime, I will never make Trinity to come work with us, and I doubt she would even suggest to do so–of course, if she did I will immediately tell her no. NEST, the Autobots, that's her family and I will never advise her to leave them. Just like I hope she will never ask or advise me to do the same with my family."

Optimus smiles and kneels so his face was close to Steve's "You're a good Captain and leader, Steve Rogers, and Rini will never ask you to leave your own family either." Steve smiles, nodding his agreement. No, Trinity wasn't like that, she knew how important family is. "And my friends call me Optimus."

Steve grins and gives him a curt nod, watching as he stood up. "And my friends call me Steve."

Smiling, Optimus walks away, Steve looking back in the direction Trinity left. He wanted to go and keep an eye on her, but decided to see how the rest of his team was doing instead and give the younger woman some space. Seeing that Thor was training hard with the Autobots and NEST agents in how to destroy a Decepticon. Steve decided to listen in as alien robots seemed to be different than actual aliens that the Avenger's had fought before.

"She'll be fine, Cap. Once she gets her hands in helping bring Ironhide to life, Rini will be back to normal." Phil said as he came to stand next to him.

"I know, I just hate feeling useless is all."

Phil snorts, "I know what you mean. How you feel about these different aliens?" he asked, switching topics quickly.

Steve chuckles softly, "I was just thinking about that actually. Without the bigger firearms, they're harder to destroy."

Phil nods in understanding, "Luckily they're all destructible, just have to find their weak spots."

"Not to mention you have us, Autobots." Mirage tells them, standing behind the two men. "We can do the rest."

"May I ask a question–I'm sorry, I don't know your name?" Steve said with a cringe, staring up at the red alien robot.

Mirage chuckles, "The names Mirage, and what's the question?"

Steve nods, "If you get offended, I am sorry and I will understand if you wish not to answer." he frowns and slightly turns to stare up at the alien robot. "If it was your technology that had placed the item into Trinity's head, could you not remove it as well?"

Mirage sighs, nodding. "We've tried. Ratchet scanned her, where the shard is located he's not able to take it out without killing her."

Steve sighs himself, nodding as he looked back to Thor now listening to one of the Autobots explaining why he couldn't use his lightning on the Decepticon. Most of the Decepticon's are able to use lightning as a power source and become even stronger than they originally were, while others can become weak and even die because of the strike. The fact of the matter was that there was no way of knowing who would be effected and how, unfortunately.

"Can you show me around, Mirage?" Steve suddenly asked, looking up at the large robot. "I would like to see how your operation works–both humans and Autobots."

Mirage grinned, giving him a curt nod. "Sure thing. Come on."

Steve listened intently to the alien robot as he pointed out the different stations and operations for both the humans and the Autobots. He noticed that it was very much like that of SHIELD, only less chaotic and more trustworthy. Not only did the humans trust and respect the Autobots, but gladly worked alongside them, holding no secret back from any of them. Mirage told him that the only clearance, or security levels, there were was when someone outside of NEST, when in conference with Morshower and the President, and when classified missions on the Decepticon's were underway.

That's what Steve liked the most. The no secrets between anyone. No security levels. Just everything out in the open. Steve was brought out of his thoughts when suddenly there was a faint tremble. Frowning, he looked up at Mirage, who was also frowning and looking towards the entrance of the base. When there was nothing else, they were about to turn away when a stronger tremble was felt, this time the both of them making their way towards the front. Everyone was extremely concerned to know what it was that they were feeling and everyone inside the base talked louder over each other, trying to figure out what it was.

Steve just hoped that it wasn't anything bad and that it was only a false alarm. Of course, seeing Phil staring out of the hangers while the other Autobots moved forward was starting to make him feel concern as well and wondered if he should have left Trinity alone at the medical bay or not.

"Be careful and only concentrate on connecting the wires, Rini." Ratchet tells her seriously as he watched her reach into the hole within Ironhide.

Trinity whispered her knowing of what she needed to do, concentrating as Ratchet had said on using the power of the shard only in connecting the wires together. After getting her wound re-stitched she immediately went to the medical bay, Ratchet telling her what she was going to do right away. Taking a deep breath and holding it, Trinity took hold of a couple of wires and by using the powers inside her let it flow through her hands and to the wires that had immediately connected together. Exhaling, the woman continued on to the next one, being careful of Ratchet's instruments also working alongside her.

They continued to work silently, both human and alien robot knowing that they liked to work in silence. Not to mention that they knew what it was that they needed without so much a single word. Of course, it didn't last too long as Ratchet had a few questions for her to answer, especially since both her and his brother's life was on the line.

"No matter what happens, Rini, do not stray from your task." he tells her honestly, not looking away from closing one of the larger wounds beneath Ironhide's life force. "So, what is it with you and the human that leads the odd group?"

Trinity frowned, connecting two large wires together. "You mean Steve?"

"Yes, the one that the others call Captain America." the Autobot had the decency to roll his eyes, knowing that the woman knew of whom he spoke about.

"There's nothing between us but friendship." Trinity tells him nonchalant, though she actually knew the truth behind the lie. "He's just someone that works alongside my uncle, and Phil telling me stories of him, the Howling Commandos, and the Avengers."

Ratchet scoffs, fixing the outer-shell to look as brand new as he possibly could. It would take some time for his armor to return to the stability it once was, but Ratchet hoped that his friend would take it easy once he regains consciousness and not want to fight. The stubborn mule just needed to rest and recover. If he so much as lifts a finger, his recovering could be so much worse then what is shown at that moment.

"Don't kid yourself, Rini." the medic robot tells her, though even to his ears the words had not sounded well as he said them. "Not only have my instruments pick up on the hormones of the two of you wanting each other, I also have eyes of my own."

Trinity continued to work as hard as she possibly dared, not wanting to discuss anything further of her love life–or lack thereof–with an Autobot. Not to mention that she hated how painfully obvious she was with Steve and prayed that her uncle hadn't picked up on it. Of course, if he had he would keep it to himself until the time was right to say something. That was the great thing about her uncle, Phil usually kept out of other people's business unless he absolutely needed to, then he would speak up. For most of her life he was there to give in his two cents when she needed it the most, and was all too grateful that he put her in her place so many times. If it wasn't for his strict lectures, her path would have been completely different then that she was on now.

She owed Phil everything.

"Ratchet, I think I'm good now. How about I use some of that All Spark energy to mend him fully now?" Trinity states, feeling herself completely relaxed and in the zone.

Ratchet hummed, frowning at the human woman. "I don't know, Rini."

Trinity fused the two wires she held in each hand and looked up at the medical robot. "You can supervise me, Ratchet. I know the consequences. And if you're here and see that I was getting out of line or getting out of hand, then you can stop me. Simple as that."

Ratchet hummed some more, frowning further. "Very well, but only with my careful eye, do you understand me?"

Trinity grinned. "Promise. Okay, better clear it and let me go ahead and start the healing process for Ironhide."

As Ratchet took a step back a slight tremble was felt, Trinity standing stock still as Ratchet frowned towards the doors l ending to the main entrance. When nothing else was heard or felt, both human and alien robot sighed with relief, Trinity looking back down at the large hole and focus all of her concentration on healing Ironhide. However another tremble, this time stronger, had them looking back at the commotion they could hear from everyone at the main area of the base.

"Something's wrong." Ratchet said worriedly, just as another tremble could be felt.

"There's no possible way that the Decepticon's found us, right?" Trinity questioned, her stands very still. "I mean, we blocked all database of our location!"

Before Ratchet can answer, another tremble was felt, closer and stronger this time. "I don't know Rini, but I think you might need to use that power on Ironhide. Now."

Nodding, Trinity looked back down and ignored everything around her. She took a deep breath, knowing that with all the trembling it will be a bit more difficult to keep a steady hand.

Hang on, Ironhide. We got you.

Phil frowned as he and the others moved towards the entrance of the base. There was no possible way that it could be an Earthquake as the east coast usually don't feel them. Another tremble, stronger this time, had everyone in base begun to question what it was. He felt some of the Autobots and Steve move on either of him, Phil feeling his heart beating wildly, praying that it wasn't what he thought it was.

"It seems like a false alarm." a NEST agent said when nothing else happened.

Phil sighed, almost closing his eyes as he wanted to smack that agent upside the head. You never say something like that, now something is going to happen! A few others seemed to feel the same as they groaned and told the male agent to shut up, while Optimus turned his body slightly, looking over at Acree. The female Autobot gave him a curt nod and was about to move forward when suddenly there was a blast near the entrance that had everyone flying backwards and the entire base shaking while the people and Autobots were blinded momentarily. There was a slight hum and buzzing sound that seemed to echo throughout the building, but Phil knew that it was only his ears that it was happening. And possibly the others as well.

As everyone tried to get their bearings straight, Phil was one of the few who was quick to get his gun out and look up in time to see a couple of Decepticons coming to view at the entrance. Not thinking twice, Phil shot the cat-like robot about to attack a few still stunned agents on the floor, grabbing its attention. It roared in anger and jumped towards him instead, however Optimus let out a battle cry as he swept his sword through the evil robot, cutting it in half and green liquid spewing everywhere. He then turned to Phil, gives him a curt nod, then turns and starts yelling out orders to the other Autobots and the NEST agents, whom all go in and start battling the Decepticons.

Knowing that his gun wasn't going to work on these large aliens, Phil quickly emptied his gun, distracting the Decepticons, and ran to where the guns that the NEST agents use on the evil robots. Mongo threw Phil a Noveske Rifleworks, who nodded in thanks and turned in time to shoot back a couple of Decepticons. He was with Mongo and Pyro hiding behind an armored military vehicle, waiting out the fire that they were taking from a couple of Decepticons. Pyro carefully looked around the vehicle, his hazel eyes sweeping quickly over the chaos and how many Decepticons had actually came to attack.

"Shit! It's Glider!" Pyro yelled for everyone to know as the large, sleek black Decepticon with a roto propeller as a shield on his right arm. It was also used as a weapon as it was connected to a chain that was connected to his right wrist. "Glider is here!"

Phil looked around the armored truck to see what the big deal was with this specific Decepticon and saw exactly why Pyro looked anxious. He was a fast robot, despite the heavy looking roto propeller–which seemed to get through anything as he threw it towards a few of the NEST agents, who had to dive out of the way for it to hit computers and the other military vehicles instead–the Decepticon seemed to be able to deflect all types of weapons that the NEST agents shot at him, as well as a few from the Autobots as well. Seeing Glider grinning madly, Phil knew that he was getting ready to throw his weapon at the NEST agents still trying to bring him down.

Quickly looking around, Phil saw the box he had brought with him from SHIELD's headquarters and thought that it might help in their case with Glider. Taking a deep breath, Phil moved around the armored truck, both Mongo and Pyro yelling at him to stop and if he was insane, and started to shoot at Glider before he can dispense his weapon. Angry that his opportunity was stopped by a lone figure, Glider instead brought up his left arm that had turned into a gun and started shooting at Phil. The SHIELD agent dived towards the other armored truck just as the first couple of bullets passed him by.

Taking a couple of deep breaths, Phil quickly scrambled to the box and quickly unlocked it. Both Mongo and Pyro watched in fascination as Phil whipped out a huge weapon that seemed to be a crossbreed of a weapons. Phil slid the forestock and both NEST agents watched in fascination and awe of vivid orange glow emanating from between the banding plates around the barrel. Phil merely grinned at them and counted to three before pushing off the ground and away from the protection of the armored truck. With quick movements he fired a blast of high heat energy that hit Glider square in the face, making him scream with pain as he scratched at his melting face and moving around wildly. Both Sideswipe and Mirage made quick work of Glider before looking towards Phil with surprise. They would need to see what type of weapon he had use to help finally kill the fast Decepticon before they both turned and rushed back into battle.

The SHIELD agent then found himself in the middle of the base, hiding behind a large crate with no ally in sight, the Destroyer Gun now useless at his side and being shot at once again. As he waited the seconds of the Decepticon with the large guns to stop shooting towards him, his thoughts were to his niece and hoped that she was safe at the back of the base. So far none of the agents or the Autobots had let the Decepticons get through them to get to the back, and Phil hoped that it would stay like that to the end.

Shaking his head, he was looking over the edge when he no longer heard the Decepticon shooting at him, getting the Noveske Rifleworks ready to fire. All of a sudden a metal body fell in front of him, it's head rolling a few feet away, surprising the older man as green liquid oozed from the top of the crate and all over the floor. He first looked up at the top of the crate to see scratch marks then he looked back to see Steve taking hold of his shield and rushing to stand next to him.

"Thank you," Phil tells him honestly, shaking his head. "But please go to Trinity! She won't leave Ironhide's side until she heals him completely! And even then I know for a fact she wants to fight. If the Decepticons are really after her, they're going to attack even harder." Phil tells him worriedly.

Steve nods in understanding, Phil also seeing the worry in the other man's eyes. "With my life, I promise. Be careful!"

Phil nods before going back to fighting, rushing into the chaotic battle. He prayed that his niece would be smart enough to stay behind and not get into the fight. However, seeing how she was, Phil doubted it and knew that he was going to see her pretty soon in the fight as well.
