Chapter Twelve
Trinity was slowly healing Ironhide with the careful eye of Ratchet when suddenly the whole building shook, followed by the alarms going off and gun fire echoing down to them. Both Trinity and Ratchet looked at each other before looking down at a nearly completely healed Ironhide, the human's heart racing quickly. Suddenly both Elita One and Chromia in their true forms came to a halt near them, their weapons out and at the ready, Trinity looking at them with worry of what was going on and hoped that everyone was all right.
"Ratchet, go!" Trinity tells him urgently, looking at the medic Autobot. "I have him, help the others! Elita One and Chromia are here, I'll be safe."
"Rini," Ratchet started, worried for his brother's both fighting and on the table.
Trinity frowned, "Damn it, go!"
With a stern look, Ratchet moved away, but stopped and looked at the two sisters. "Watch over her and make sure she doesn't uses all of the All Spark powers on Ironhide!"
"Right."
"Got it."
The sisters nodded, as they too know the consequences of what could happen to Trinity if she used the full powers of the All Spark. With another nod Ratchet turned with his weapons at the ready and ran, disappearing completely. Taking a deep breath, Trinity closed her eyes and concentrated the entire power she held to heal Ironhide quickly, to not only help her friends out in the battle, but to make their family whole once again. Trinity just hoped that the sisters don't realize what she was doing so that they don't stop her before she can heal him all the way.
She felt beads of sweat rolling down her face and back, but she wasn't stopping or slowing down for fear of losing that power. Trinity can slowly feel herself start to drain due to the power also taking from her own energy, so she carefully started to even her breathing so that she could conserve her energy. When sweat started to fall down her face, the woman tried her hardest to not let her hands go from over Ironhide.
"Rini!"
"No!"
The sisters yelled as they realized what it was Trinity was doing, but the human woman ignored them and all other noise that echoed into the room. She did flinch though when the fighting came closer, but continued to concentrate on healing her friend, even when the exhaustion was starting to take a toll on her. Suddenly the power stopped, making Trinity to open her eyes in confusion to see a power build up above the small hole in Ironhide's chest, the woman not realizing that this was happening and wondered what it was going to do now.
Breathing hard, Trinity went to step down from the ladder she was on when suddenly the power build up blew, throwing her backwards. She heard the sisters crying out and knew that they had also been thrown backwards so Trinity waited for the impact of the floor or the wall, only to be grateful for the familiar arms holding her around her waist. If he wasn't there to catch her, there was no doubt in Trinity's mind that she wouldn't be helping out her family during the battle raging on at that moment.
Keeping his word, Steve was rushing towards sick bay when he felt an energy explosion. With his super speed, Steve ran in just in time to see Trinity flying back and caught her, holding her protectively, for once grateful that he was there on time. Holding on to Steve's arms, both the humans and the two female Autobots watched as Ironhide yells out, his body bowing upwards before he fell back down on to the table. Slowly he sat up, breathing hard, he looks around confused and disoriented before shaking his head a couple of times.
Finally Ironhide stared at Trinity after calming down, seeming to understand what had just happened. "Thank you, my friend."
Trinity nods, smiling and holding back tears. "Just glad you're back." taking a deep breath, the woman got her bearings straight and grinned evilly, "Now let's kick some Decepticon's ass!"
"Oh-Ra!" Ironhide yelled excitedly.
He slowly stood, testing his legs, before he quickly checked all his functioning parts and weapons, grinning when they were all in working order. Nodding, he turns to the two sisters, whom grinned just as excitedly, before the three Autobots headed towards the battle eagerly to be alongside their brothers and sister. Trinity looked back at Steve, seeing his determination to keep her safe, before the both of them ran towards the fighting to help their family too.
"Stay close to me, Trinity." Steve tells her as they made their way towards the front of the base.
"I can't promise that, Cap! It's a battle, we can get separated, you know this!" Trinity told him as soon as they reached the chaos of the ongoing battle.
Exhaling at all that was going on, Trinity quickly scanned the cargo and rushed towards the boxes holding the guns that NEST kept in storage. She ducked and rushed as quickly so as to get a weapon in hand, Steve yelling after her and keeping an eye on anything that would hit her. She was quick to grab a vest and with quick expertise placed it on herself before grabbing her favorite weapon, the LaRue Tactical OBR, slamming in a magazine in and making sure to place the safety on. She slung the strap over her, grabbing as many ammo as she possibly can and placing them around her person. Next she grabbed a set of different ammo, also placing them around the holes that were to fit the ammo before grabbing her second favorite weapon, the Colt M16A4. Doing the same she did with the other weapon, she slammed in a magazine, but this time made sure that the safety was off.
Turning to Steve, whom merely stared at her, Trinity nodded. "Let's get to work."
Bringing the M16A4 to her shoulder, Trinity moved around the cargo and started to shoot at the unsuspecting Decepticon with accurate accuracy. A few NEST agents yelled with triumphant as soon as they saw the woman, some of them trying to get to Trinity's side as best as they could to protect her, as well as be on her side as she was one of the original NEST members that also knew how to shoot well. Once she ran out of ammo for her Colt was when Trinity and Steve got separated by a missile that a Decepticon had shot towards them.
Having rolled to the side to hide behind a stack of crates, Trinity looked to a worried Steve looking at her, also hiding behind an armored car. "I'll be fine! Concentrate on the fight Cap! Concentrate on the fight!"
With that said, Trinity moved to the other side of the crate and looked around. Taking a deep breath, she rushed back into battle, Steve watching her with both awe and concern. His heart fluttered at the thought of leaving Trinity alone, but knew that she was right. If he didn't concentrate on the fight, not only would they lose many lives that day, but he can be hurt badly to the point that he wouldn't be able to help his fellow comrades or Trinity. So, taking a deep breath, Steve held on to his shield and rushed back into battle, letting his mind settle on what he knew best instead of the woman he was slowly starting to care for more than he ever thought possible to do so again.
It was Phil who first started to see a pattern when it came to his niece and knew that she was now in danger. Things were starting to get out of control and hope was almost gone until both the Autobot that the NEST group thought had died and Trinity had come into the fight. Phil tried hard to not think about his niece, knowing that she was trained in this situation since she was sixteen and out of high school but he couldn't help it. Trinity was all there was left of his dear baby sister, and he would hate to see something happen to her. She truly is the pride and joy of his life and he would die first to protect her.
It seemed that most of the NEST agents felt the same way as they, too, tried to get close to Trinity and protect her. Some had succeeded, which Phil was grateful, but he still wanted to be the one close to her. So leaving the group he was with, Phil started towards his niece, wanting to fight by her side, as were the Autobots. Phil had knew that his niece had always been good at what she did, but he never even imagined just how much everyone relied on her skills.
Phil was just making his way when he saw it. At first he thought that it was a trick of the mind, what with all the chaos around him, but he kept his eyes open and sharp and felt his heart stop for a second before beating wildly with fear. He found himself yelling for Trinity to get out, to leave the fighting for them, but she seemed adamant to stay put and find alongside the others. So Phil did the one thing he could only think of; he turned and looked up at the red Transformer, Mirage, letting him know what was happening so that he was able to tell the other Autobots.
Mirage looked in the direction of his niece and seemed to notice the same thing he had and spoke to the other Autobots. Everyone started trying to grab the Decepticon's attention, trying to bring the attention off of Trinity so she can get away, but she wasn't having it. She didn't want to leave when her family and friends were there, fighting for their lives and Phil couldn't fault her for that. What he can fault her for was how blind and stubborn she was.
Unfortunately he knew that she got it from their side of the family.
"Autobots, get to Rini! We must protect Rini!" Optimus ordered in panicked.
The Autobots tried their hardest to get to Trinity, who was slowly falling into a corner with a few Decepticons close by, but the other Decepticons were pushing even harder to stop them. Then a red and green Decepticon could be seen closing in on Trinity and all Phil could think about was getting to her as quickly as possible. Yelling, Phil moved towards Trinity, firing his weapon at any of the Decepticons that got in his way.
"Trinity!" Phil yelled, having only eyes for his niece. Which was his mistake as a missile hit an armored truck close by, exploding and throwing him and all others away. "Trinity!"
Phil yelled as he rolled for cover, his heart racing a mile a minute, an energy blast near him exploding with heat. Taking a deep breath, he kneeled close to the floor and shot at the Decepticon's foot, then quickly rolled from behind the truck and shot at the Decepticon's chest. The metal robot groaned, falling to its knees, then the floor, the light in his eyes going dark. However, Phil didn't wait. No, he had sprinted to action and continued to run towards Trinity, seeing the danger of her continuing to be here–fighting–alongside her family.
Then that damn Decepticon got close enough to throw an energy blast close to Trinity. Phil watched his niece falling to her knees, hands reaching up to her ears, crying out in pain. Phil didn't realize he had cried out or the fact that he was rushing towards her until Ghost tackled him to safety as a Decepticon fired at him.
"Thanks." Phil said breathlessly before looking up to see Steve. "Cap! Get to Rini! Get to Rini!" Steve nods and looked around his hiding place before running. "Please save my niece." he whispered tiredly.
Ghost pats his shoulder, thumping his head back against the crate. He took a moment to gather himself, then took hold of his weapon and stood. "Let's get to work, Agent Coulson."
Phil looked up at him as Ghost looked down at him. "Let's save Rini."
Trinity felt cornered. No! She was cornered. She saw a few NEST agents after she had separated from Steve when she herself had found to be alone, fighting. The young woman knew then that the Decepticons were indeed trying to get her so that they can extract whatever it was that they had implanted in her mind. She looked around her surroundings, needing a way to escape as she only had a single ammo left for her LaRue Tactical. When she did run out, Trinity was quick to grab the last ammo and slam it into her weapon, shooting at a Decepticon that was coming from her from behind.
Suddenly a Decepticon–Jolt, who's had a grudge against the woman for a couple of years as she had humiliated him in front of Megatron–was close to Trinity. He lets go an energy blast that had her flying backwards, her hearing aids bursting with white noise until nothing but silences that was Trinity's life. She slowly moved to her side, throwing out her hearing aids, pushing through the pain that she was feeling. She could feel all the vibrations coming from all directions and it was confusing the woman to no end, as well as giving her a headache. Leaning back against the cargo that she was thrown back on, Trinity places a hand on her head to try and get the headache to stop.
Unbeknownst to Trinity, Jolt was now looming over her and was getting ready to strike, when Steve's recognizable shield had hit Jolt's head back and making him take a few steps back away from Trinity. Steve stopped right in front of her, taking back his shield and taking a stand, glaring at the alien robot angrily.
"You beastly human!" Jolt yelled angrily, "You both will now die!"
Steve brought up his shield as Jolt brought his sword down at him, pushing it away and, having taken Trinity's weapon from the floor, shot him in the face a couple of times, before ducking and rolling away from Jolt's sword slicing his way. Steve threw his shield once again at the Decepticon's chest, shooting at his spark, before diving out of the way once again. Seeing a fellow Avenger close by, Steve got an idea and quickly stood up, taking his shield once again.
"Thor!" the Asgardian looked at him, "Lighting!"
Knowing what it was Steve wanted, the god of thunder nods and summons lighting as he made his way towards his brother in arms. Steve brought up his shield once Thor was close enough and watched as he hit his shield, watching it flying towards an unaware Jolt. The Decepticon yelled as the shield sliced him in half through his spark, immediately dying as his body fell to the floor among his own liquids. Having seen such a display from the humans, the Decepticon's have started to retreat, cursing the humans on the way.
Steve jogged up to Trinity, helping her stand on her shaky legs. He took hold of her face, looking over the wounds that she had received during the fight. "You okay?" he whispered, brushing her hair away.
Trinity sighs, moving her cheek into his palm. "Thank you."
Steve swallowed, feeling his hand tighten slightly on her cheek. As Trinity looked up at him tiredly, Steve leans down and kissed her forehead, grateful that she was all right. Trinity closed her eyes at the feel of his lips on her skin, bringing up a hand to cover his still on her cheek. As he pulled back, Trinity opened her eyes and smiled softly at the man out of time, her heart slowly increasing with the emotion that was starting to become more than just a crush on the super human man.
"Let's go Cap and see how everyone is doing and how the hell these Decepticon's found our location." Trinity told him.
Steve nods and walks alongside her as they made their way towards the front of the entrance, asking any of the agents if they were all right along the way. Other agents started to follow them and help their fellow brothers in arms who were too injured to walk, as well as taking in all the damage that had happened to their base. Trinity smiled when she saw her uncle rushing towards her and ran towards him as well. She jumped into Phil's arms and hugged him tightly, grateful that he was all right.
"You scared the hell out of me, you know." Phil whispered, eyes closed and hugging his niece for dear life.
Trinity tightened her hold on her uncle, before pulling back and signing. "Sorry Uncle Phil, I promise that the next time I will be more careful."
"Liar." Phil signed in return, grinning.
Trinity chuckled, shaking her head, before they continued on their way towards the entrance of the base. Trinity sighed with relief when she saw Stone and Ghost were all right, just a few bumps and bruises just like herself, but all right. She hugged them, grateful that they were alive and continued to take in all the damage and inventory that they would be needing soon. Then there was a circle of agents, but it was a tearful Pyro that had caught Trinity's attention. Heart thumping wildly as fear took hold of it and of her breath, the woman took longer strides towards the crowd before it had become a jog, then a full on run.
She pushed through the crowd, telling the agents to move, wanting to know who had died because of her account–and whether anyone liked it, it really was her fault as the Decepticon's were after her. With her heart in her throat and the rushing of blood in her ears that was already silencing the world even more, Trinity didn't want to think who it may be that was in the center of the large group. As soon as she pushed through the last person, Trinity stared at the tearful Pyro before looking down at the person and felt her entire heart break.
"No." she whispered brokenly, not wanting to believe it. "No. No! No!" she started to yell, rushing forward and falling to her knees, taking hold of Mongo's body.
She held on to him tightly, screaming and sobbing, the entire room silenced and not a dry eye in the building–even the Autobots had tears in their eyes as Mongo has been there from the beginning of the Autobots and Human relationship. Steve finally moved forward and kneeled next to Trinity, slowly trying to pry her away. The woman screamed to let her go, not wanting to leave Mongo's side. Eventually he was able to pry her away and Trinity turned to him and collapsed into his arms, demanding why the people she loved continued to die around her.
Because of her.
A/N: Sorry for the late update, I wasn't sure how to go about this chapter, which was the reason it took so long. Hopefully you guys enjoyed it, please review and let me know what you think!
