"Good Morning Sunshine." Wade smiled as Zoe walked into Lavon's kitchen.

Zoe smiled at him. "Morning."

"You have plans today?" he asked eyeing her outfit that was more put together then the past few days.

"Umm, I was going to go see Brick about my arm."

He nodded. "Oh yeah?" he asked surprised.

"Yeah, I mean, I eventually have to get this cast off and have my arm and ribs examined. I don't have a car so getting to Mobile is out of the question so I have to go here." She shrugged

"You know I could bring you to Mobile."

She curled her lips. "It's ok, I don't want to bother you and it's just fine. I'd rather go here. Don't want to upset the locals."

"Ok then, but just so you know, you're not a bother." He got up from the stool and put his bowl in the sink. "I have to get to work. You'll be ok?" he asked

"Yes, I'm fine, just like every morning the last four days."

"Ok good." He smiled and kissed her head as he walked passed her. "Come by after your exam?"

"Yeah, of course." She smirked at him as he left the house. She quickly ate breakfast and had a cup of coffee before heading into town and towards the practice.

She walked in and there was no one to be found. The waiting room was empty and there was no one behind the desk.

"Hello?" she called

"Hello Zoe." Brick stuck his head out of his office. "What can I do for you?"

"Um, I was hoping for an exam."

"Oh sure, come this way." He held his hand out to guide her towards the exam room. "How long has the arm been broken?"

"About two weeks." She said as she sat on the table.

He nodded. "How did it happen again?"

"I tripped, on my cat."

Again he nodded. "Would you like me to re-x-ray it?"

"Uh yeah, if you could and it's not a bother."

"No it's fine. I'll grab the saw and we can get this one off you."

"Thank you."

Brick took the x-ray and while they waited for it to print, he sat down on the stool and looked at Zoe.

"Anything else bothering you?"

She bit her lip. "Um, yeah." She looked down at her hands in her lap.

"What's wrong?"

"My uh ribs, two are broken."

"How bad was this fall Dr. Hart?"

"Bad." She answered simply.

"Ok, lie back." She did as she was told and rolled up her t-shirt to just below her chest.

Brick looked at the bruising on her abdomen. "Can I x-ray?"

"Yeah, sure." She whispered

After that he got the one from her arm and put it on the screen. "It seems to be healing, I'd say another 3 to 4 weeks."

"That's what I figured but I wanted an opinion down here."

"It was a smart idea. So Zoe, how long have you known Wade?"

"About two months I guess."

He nodded. "And you came to visit here about three weeks ago, right?"

"Yeah." She smiled.

"Then you left and now you're back with a broken ribs and arm."

"Yeah." She said curiously.

"Why did you leave?"

"Um, had to settle some stuff in New York."

"It's not because of this?" he pointed to the x-ray.

She thought for a minute. "You think Wade did this to me? Are you kidding? Haven't you known him his entire life?" she started to get upset. "He is the nicest guy I have met in years. He's taken care of me, helped me get dressed because I could hardly move. I thought this town was nice, stuck together and knew everything about the other." She finished her rant and got off the table. She started to storm out.

"I said it because I do know Wade. This town does know everything about everyone and yes, you are correct, Wade would never in a million years put his hands on a women. So who did this?" he asked

A tear fell from Zoe's cheek and she turned around. "How did you know?"

"Actions speak louder than words Doctor. You should know that."

"I do."

"Maybe but you're not good at hiding. Now, who did this?"

She sighed. "My boyfriend but he's in New York, I'm fine, I promise."

"Has it happened before?" she only nodded. "Have you gone to the police?" she shook her head. "Why?"

"No use, and Dr. Breeland please. Doctor patient confidentiality."

"Wade knows?" he asked

"Yes and George and Lavon."

He nodded. "Ok, I will keep it for now but if you go home again."

"I'm not."

"Did you break up with him? Does he know you're not coming back?"

"Yeah, he knows." She lied

"Ok then." He got up and got the chest x-ray, putting it on the screen. "They seem to be healing very nicely, ice and bandage at night."

"I am, yes."

He nodded. "Good, is there anything else?"

"No, everything else has healed. It was just some cuts and bruising."

"That scar on your upper arm because of him?" he pointed to a long scar down her upper arm, ending right before her elbow.

"No it's not, I've had that as long as I can remember."

Brick nodded as he looked at her curiously. "Alright. It's a very interesting pattern."

"Yeah, I have no idea how I got it." she shrugged.

"Interesting." He said almost in a whisper. "I'll recast your arm and you can go on your way."

"Thank you."

Brick recasted her arm and after a little bit more of just friendly conversation Zoe left and went towards the Rammer Jammer.

"Hey." Zoe smiled and sat at the bar near Wade.

"Hey, how was the exam?" he asked leaning towards her and popping a pretzel in his mouth.

"It was fine. He's pretty smart." She bit her bottom lip.

"Figured it out?" he sighed

"Yeah, but he said he won't say anything. I kind of believe him."

"You can, he won't say anything." He nodded

"That's good."

"Zoe." Annabeth called walking into the bar.

Zoe turned and smiled at her. "Hi Annabeth."

"I'm so glad you're here, I need advice."

"From me?" Zoe asked shocked.

"Yes, you are an awesome dresser and I need help. Will you? Today? Like right now?"

"Um, sure. I'd love to." She looked over at Wade and smiled as she hoped off the bar stool.

"Y'all have fun." He smiled back

"Bye" they both waved and left the bar.

"So I really want to go to Mobile. I hope that's ok. George is taking me on a weekend getaway to Gulf Shores and I need a new bathing suit and a couple sun dresses. I haven't gone on a romantic weekend in such a long time."

Zoe chuckled at the girl walking next to her. "You sound really excited."

"I am. You see I was married up until about a year and a half ago. Jake was not a romantic guy. His idea of romance was a six pack of beer and demolition derby."

Zoe scrunched up her nose. "Ew."

"Exactly." Annabeth smiled and unlocked the car in front of them. "This is me. You ready?"

"I am."

They got in the car and took off towards the highway. Mainly they just chit chatted about the town and a little more about George and their upcoming weekend.

"So, you and Wade?" Annabeth smiled over at her.

Zoe smirked. "We are just friends. I promise."

"I see. I don't mean to pry but the last time you were here, didn't you have a gorgeous ring on your finger?"

She bit her bottom lip. "Uh yeah but not anymore. We broke up."

"I am so sorry. I'll stop talking."

"No it's fine. Wade told me people will ask. He just wasn't right for me, New York in general isn't right."

"Are you thinking about moving down here permanently?"

"I am, it seems like just the perfect little town and I can really see myself here. I need to find a job though."

"Have you asked Dr. Breeland? I know he's been looking for an associate. He's been having quite a bit trouble keeping up with the town since Dr. Wilkes passed away."

"I actually have, he told me if I wanted to, I was more than welcome to help him out." A light clicked on in Zoe's head and she smiled. She's dying to know more about her father and Annabeth might be able to help. "Wade told me about Dr. Wilkes, said he was nice."

"Oh he was the best. The sweetest, most genuine man in town. I always felt so bad for him though."

"Why's that?" she asked already knowing the answer.

"Well he had a daughter named Zoe actually. Isn't that funny." She laughed. "And so she pretty much disappeared when we were little. No one really knows what happened with her. He never really spoke of it. Just said she went to live with her mother and her family. He was heartbroken. The rumor was that the mom went crazy and just left while he was at work one day without leaving a note or anything."

Zoe pouted. "That's so sad. He seemed so nice, from what I heard. I wonder why she would do that."

"Such a terrible terrible thing." Annabeth shook her head

"Did he have any other family?"

"He has some siblings I believe but they don't live here. He never married though."

Zoe just nodded. "So, uh, were you close with his daughter?"

"I mean, we were three, so we had playdates. I don't remember much about her but I have a picture from my third birthday of us. She was sweet from what I remember and have been told." AB shrugged. "I wish I knew what ever happened to her. Where she went." She sighed as they stopped at a red light.

Zoe took a deep breath. "She's right here."

"What?" AB asked snapping her head in Zoe's direction. "No?"

Zoe smiled. "Yes."

All of the sudden cars were honking and Ab turned back to the light which was now green. She started to drive. "Seriously?" she asked with a smile

"Yep, here I am, Zoe." She paused "Wilkes, I imagine. Haven't really cleared up all the details with my mother, I guess she changed my name when we went to New York."

"Oh my god, this is amazing. Have you not known all these years?"

"Nope, I ran into Wade a couple months ago and the airport and he recognized me, I had no idea what he was talking about then but I confirmed with my mother and then came back to visit. I love it here, I want to stay but I'm so afraid of how the town will react."

"Oh Zoe, the town will be ecstatic. I know I am. We have all been so curious about what happened to you. They will be so happy to see you."

"They won't be mad?"

"Mad? Why? It's not like you left when you were a teenager or adult and just never came back. You were three, you didn't know any better." She said as they pulled into a parking spot in front of the mall.

"You're right." Zoe nodded with a smile. "It wasn't my fault. None of it was." She finally admitted to AB and herself about more things than just leaving Bluebell when she was three.

"I am so so happy. I don't know how I didn't see it before. You look just the same as you did at my third birthday. I am so happy you're back."

Zoe leaned over and hugged her. "Me too. Now let's shop."

Back in Bluebell Brick was rummaging through Dr. Wilkes office, he hasn't done much with it since he had passed away. He was going through some old files when he pulled one out of the drawer. "Got it." He smiled and opened it. He started flipping through the pages and settled on one. "Fell out of tree onto old floor boards, ten stitches on right upper arm leaving jagged scar." He read. "I knew it. That scar was all too familiar to me" He smiled shaking his head. "Zoe Wilkes has returned to Bluebell." He smiled and closed the file. His happiness quickly turned to sadness when he remembered their conversation from earlier in the day. "Harley would not be happy with her situation." He shook his head and put the file back in the drawer. "I think I'll head to the Rammer Jammer." He closed Harley's office door and left the office.
