Blake was interested, mostly after Ruby demonstrated a 'healing' spell using Dust and said that mixed Dust specialists could use offensive and healing spells interchangeably provided they had the training for it. She had thought about applying for the class, but didn't have the money or the pull to get in.

Considering her past, she wasn't willing to try and alter the records to get in either. Finding out Professor Valentine was willing to overlook his usual demands for students attempting to enter his class partly because she had the aptitude for it (but mostly because she was part of his neice's team and Yang's partner) was a nice surprise.

Even if she was very surprised to be busted as a Faunus and former White Fang member within seconds of meeting Professor Valentine in private.

That being said Vincent was content to let Ruby work with Blake on the basics while he helped Weiss with her reserve issue. Learning it had been her training that had kept her from proving herself a proper Schnee to her father had come as an unpleasant annoyance that she would see corrected or die trying.

Weiss had more than one reason for wanting to become a proper Summoner as Professor Valentine called them. Just being able to summon anything in battle was enough to fit the Schnee family requirements, but the idea of summoning a massive blizzard or very fat bird that Ruby called a "chocobo" on her father's transport (before he entered of course) if he attempted to put her back into a gilded cage was going to be very satisfying.

Weiss was sick of the sycophants her father insisted on having around her and of being in a cage. If escaping that and proving herself perfectly capable of finding her own way without him holding the leash required that she train herself until she could cast spells at the drop of a hat with even scrap Dust like Ruby could, then she would happily spend countless nights and train herself hoarse.

Who knew that most summoners were musically inclined and that all her training when it came to her singing voice would come in handy? At least she took great comfort in knowing she wasn't actually crazy and that the song she heard from the Dust was real. Finding out that there were other summoners that Vincent had general access to that could teach her specific steps if she wanted to get creative about summoning certain spirits (as the dance acted as a sort of 'offering' to the spirit in question and was all about honoring the fact they were deigning to answer her summons in the first place).

Considering her sister was musically inclined and an excellent dancer, Weiss seriously suspected her sister had met those same summoners and learned that trick from them. Though Winter tended to avoid their father, which was why Weiss couldn't prove it.

Ruby nearly shot up from her bed, looked at the time and groaned.

She hated having that dream, because it was almost impossible for her to get back to sleep after it.

She took out her scroll and texted her uncle. Fortunately her Uncle Vincent was a very light sleeper and tended to be a night owl besides. It was sometimes funny to see him in the morning though... he wasn't much of a morning person.

Ruby found Vincent high up, which was okay because she liked heights too. He handed her an ice cream bar that he knew she absolutely loved.

Cloud called it "sea salt ice cream" and it was Ruby's absolute favorite treat...next to cookies.

"Have the dream again?" he asked.

Ruby nodded miserably.

He opened his cloak and let her cuddle next to him. She pulled him into a hug.

"I wish I knew why I keep dreaming of this Roxas guy and why I keep waking up in a cold sweat," said Ruby.

It was always the same dream. She would become a mindless doll, and was forced to fight this "Roxas" through different worlds that her uncle had assured her were real, but almost impossible for them to get to at the moment. His friend Cloud was currently traveling to try and snap someone named Sephiroth out of whatever funk he was in, and had been the one to confirm Ruby was not hallucinating the worlds she had seen.

Every single place she described was very real, however both men had found it oddly amusing when they realized that Ruby really, really wanted to cuddle with Hades' dog Cerberus.

She was very much a dog lover.

There was a reason Vincent had given Ruby the keychain that once belonged to Cerberus, which was his favorite gun until it was sadly destroyed. She had attached it to her weapon for reasons known only to her.

"On an unrelated note, did you know Mr. Arc is Cloud's grandson?"

Ruby's eyes widened.

"I don't know why I didn't see that before! I mean he looks almost like Uncle Cloud!" said Ruby excitedly. Then she frowned. "How come Jaune barely knows how to hold a blade though?"

"Cloud barely had time to train him. He was too busy hunting your 'cousin' again."

"Think Uncle Cloud would mind if I took Jaune aside and offered to train him?"

"He'd likely thank you for it. From what I was told, his mother and his sisters coddled him and he faked his transcripts to get some actual experience."

"Jaune faked his transcripts?" asked Ruby.

Vincent had a dry look on his face.

"His combat skills and application were all over the place. The only reason Ozpin allowed it was to see if Jaune had any of his grandfather's innate talent and because he managed to survive initiation on his own merit despite the poor showing. So long as he keeps his grades up, he can stay."

Ruby made a note to let Jaune now, in case someone found out and attempted to blackmail him. Besides, she wanted to know if he inherited Cloud's "Limit Break", which was a special kind of Semblance that only awaken in special circumstances. That and she could really use a proper sparring partner for when she turned "Crescent Rose" into "Chaos Rose".

Cloud had a very enthusiastic student when he found out that she could turn her scythe/sniper rifle into a sword. It wasn't as odd as his First Tsurugi, but considering the fact that damn near every weapon wielded by Hunters in Remnant could turn into a gun, he wasn't going to question it.

At least Ruby gushed over how awesome his sword was rather than ask ridiculous questions...like why he had so many different swords that combined into one big sword that was as tall as he was. Seriously, the number of people who commented that he had to be overcompensating for something when they realized he actually knew how to use First Tsurugi and realize that was his actual weapon.

"Wait, what?!" said Jaune openly horrified.

"I said why didn't you mention the fact Uncle Cloud was your grandpa? We could have totally scheduled regular sparring matches!" said Ruby.

"Wait, Jaune is Cloud's grandson? As in the same grandson he keeps complaining should have been in combat training years ago to see if he had any talent for swords?" said Yang.

"...You know grandpa?" said Jaune.

"Uncle Vincent is the only one left from his original team, even if he joined in really late. Uncle Cloud was the one who showed me how to really deal close-combat damage with Chaos Rose," said Ruby with a chirp.

"I thought your weapon is Crescent Rose?" asked Weiss.

Ruby took out Crescent Rose, and with a few twists and shifts, turned the sniper rifle into a very odd sword. The blade was still just as sharp, if angled oddly.

"This is Chaos Rose," she said proudly. "You have no idea how hard it was to make a weapon that can turn into three different forms without it requiring near constant maintenance and having to take it apart just to shift it between blade types.. I have the sniper rifle for long range, the scythe for mid-range, and I have this for close range."

"So the scythe is 'Crescent Rose' and you call the sword 'Chaos Rose'. Why?" asked Jaune.

"So I don't forget which style I'm using, silly! Considering the sniper rifle is it's default state, I had to find some way to mentally switch combat styles so I didn't accidentally try to use Crescent like I would a sword before I shifted it!" said Ruby as if it were obvious. "I got the idea from Uncle Cloud who admitted he named the blades that make up First Tsurugi so he didn't mix them up in a fight."

"What's First Tsurugi?" asked Pyrrha.

Jaune took out his Scroll and pulled up a picture of his grandfather a full view of his sword.

"Grandpa has a thing for puzzles, so when he designed his personal weapon he made it up of different sword types. I have no idea what that thing is made out of, but it's definitely not any metal I've seen. Everyone always makes stupid comments about him compensating for something, but he said that it's a personal preference from when he was younger and larger swords were all the rage," said Jaune.

"That reminds me... Uncle Vincent said Ozpin knows you faked your transcripts, but he's willing to ignore it in order to see if you inherited any of Uncle Cloud's skill with blades or even his Semblance," said Ruby.

Jaune nearly dropped his scroll.

"Say what?"

"Well your combat skills and the application you put in were really all over the place, but you survived initiation without being seriously maimed so Uncle Vincent said that Ozpin is giving you a chance to prove yourself. He did say you have to keep your grades up though," said Ruby.

Jaune nearly fainted from outright shock hearing that Ozpin had known he faked his transcripts.

"I am so dead..."

"Don't worry! I'm sure Pyrrha and I can get your combat class grades up!" said Ruby. "Besides, Uncle Cloud was the one to train me in how to use Chaos Rose properly, so I might be able to pass some of his techniques on to you so you can surprise him when he gets back."

"Thanks," said Jaune weakly. He needed a drink.

"On the plus side you don't have to worry about being expelled for faking your transcripts," said Pyrrha. Though it did explain a lot.

"...It was the only way to get away from my mother and seven sisters," said Jaune. "Besides, I remembered grandpa mentioning he had a friend in Beacon once, so I figured he could help get me settled once I was busted if I asked politely."

"Uncle Vincent probably would have, if he knew why you ran away from home," agreed Yang. "He's pretty cool like that."

Ruby might be Vincent's favorite, but he was still an awesome uncle. Who else would actually go through with their promise of a bike once she was old enough to drive and get her something top-of-the-line like he had? And arrange lessons with his awesome Hunter buddy who knew all sorts of cool tricks like riding on the ceiling of all things with her new bike?

Come to think of it, that picture Jaune showed looked really familiar.

It suddenly hit her why.

"Holy shit... I can't believe I didn't see the resemblance to Cloud sooner!" said Yang.

"Finally realized Jaune is related to the same guy who showed you all those tricks dad forbade me from ever doing if I got a bike like you did?" said Ruby with amusement.

"Wait, what?" said Jaune, staring.

"Uncle Vincent asked Uncle Cloud to teach Yang how to drive. Dad was beyond mad for months after it because Yang kept trying out some really tricky stunts that had the cops complaining about her driving on the ceiling of tunnels to get away from them out of boredom. Even if she did learn some valuable skills like how to maintain her bike without having to pay a shop, because she's not exactly gentle when it comes to her driving," explained Ruby.

"...Grandpa knows how to do stunt biking?" said Jaune.

"He said he learned it in the infantry, since there was a course for it."

Jaune looked thoughtful. Then he grimaced.

"Come to think of it, Grandpa was the one to bring medicine the first time I rode in a ship. Apparently I inherited his motion sickness problem."

His grandfather had been the most sympathetic out of his family, and had fortunately managed to convince his mother that the problem couldn't be "trained" out of him.

Ruby had a speculative look.

"Hey Yang... do you think he inherited Uncle Cloud's preference to bikes in response to the motion sickness issue?"

Yang paused.

"It's possible. I mean Uncle Cloud did say that part of the problem was that he trusted his own driving more than he did someone else and that he never had any issues when he used his bike instead of public transport," mused Yang.

"At this point I will happily take lessons just so I don't throw up every time I get in a vehicle," said Jaune, dead serious.

"I bet uncle Vincent can get you a smaller bike or teach you how to fly," said Ruby, commiserating.

She knew how to drive, but she wasn't old enough to do it. Which sucked, but she put up with it.
