"ICE?" I yell. "DID YOU JUST HIT ME… WITH ICE?"
The blast has less effect on me then she clearly expected it to, based on her wide eyes and shocked expression. I knew that this woman obviously had some sort of ice powers, based on, oh I don't know, her ICE dress and ICE castle. I thought it would be clear that I had them, too. I have frost on my clothes and in my hair and am also resistant to the cold. Does she really not see it?
With a quick wave of my staff, I send a bolt of frost flying in her direction, hitting her lightly on the shoulder.
"What were you trying to do? Ice the frost spirit? You're gonna have to try harder than that to hurt me, I'm afraid" I say to her.
She stands there speechless, so it's clear I soiled whatever plan she had to knock me out and throw me into the snow.
"Look if you wanted me to leave you could have just said so. I know when to take my leave". I awkwardly turn back toward the outside on my good foot, where it is lightly snowing but the wind is blowing harder. I begin to hobble further away from the door.
"Wait!" she yells. "You..? I thought I was…? How..?" She looks down and fidgets with her dress. "Nevermind," she says in a more decisive tone. We can talk in the morning. It's late and you should get some sleep.``
She waves her hand in a small swirl and a layer of think ice coats my foot, making a boot around it so I can walk easier. Is is really going to let me stay? Awesome. Okay, all I need to do is find a map or a phone and then call North or someone to come to get me. He travels the world so I'm sure he knows where I am. Also, maybe talking further with the beautiful ice girl doesn't sound terrible.
"I'll show you to a room. I would take you to the other castle where it's warm, but um... That's not a problem for you is it?"
"Not at all", I say looking around and admiring the pretty designs on the ceiling and walls as she leads me into the house and up a grand ice staircase. We turn into a couple of hallways in slightly awkward silence until eventually coming to a rather large door. She waves a hand and it opens.
"So this is where you can stay for the night. In the morning we will leave and go to the main castle where we can figure everything out."
"Sounds good to me," I say.
The room is a large loft-like space with a bed and a sitting area and.. Is that a balcony? Sweet. I must be more charming than I thought if she gave me this room. I lift my staff to fly into the room getting a few feet off the ground and surging forward before crashing back down a little harder than expected. I wince and shudder at the pain that shoots through my leg. Right, can't fly, broken foot. Forgot.
I turn around and see the girl... What was her name? Ah Queen Elsa, staring at me with an unreadable expression. She starts talking fast.
"Well um, I'll be down the hall if you need anything and I don't have any food at the moment so sorry about that and um see you in the morning, bye!" She quickly walked to the door, pausing abruptly after a couple of steps.
"Oh I just realized," she said looking back at me. "What is your name? Forgive me I never asked."
I smile and brush my staff lightly against the ground, decorating the floor around us with my own intricate patterns before waving it into the air making small snowflakes fly around us. After my little show off-dance, I turn to her with my most charming smile.
"Jack Frost, Your Highness" and take a bow.
She clears her through and says "Well Mr. Frost" Did she just call me 'Mr. Frost'? "I'll see you in the morning. Goodnight". She walks out quickly and the door closes behind her
. Can she control her castle because it's ice or because she made it? I reach my hand out and attempt to the door open towards me. It doesn't budge. I guess it's just her then. I set my staff down on a couch in the middle of the room and hobble over to where the bed is. I haven't slept in a bed this nice in a long time. I fall onto it, shifting my foot up with me then pulling up the covers a bringing them over me. It's just the right amount of freezing in the room, making it easy for me to always drift off, ignoring the pain in my foot.
