"You don't know me," Sam accused in a small, tight voice. "You never did. And you never will."
It was a lie and he knew it. Dean did know him. Sometimes he thought his brother knew him better than he knew himself. This time, though, Dean was wrong.
He wasn't a monster.
He was simply doing what he deemed necessary. He had the power to prevent Lilith from cracking the final seal and letting Lucifer walk free. Dean refused to believe in him... to trust him. He couldn't handle that he wasn't the big hero.
Not this time.
Sam turned away but stopped at Dean's final words.
"You walk out that door, don't you ever come back."
A punch or a kick would hurt less than hearing those words — Dad's words — come from his brother. He stared at Dean, torn between apologizing, and kicking the crap out of him.
He walked out the door, instead.
