When needs musts, the Devil Grins
First off, I don't own BtVS or The Vampire Diaries. Second, I found this abandoned on my computer and I decided to finish the scene and post it here. I've a few ideas about where to take it but realistically I'm unlikely to get back to it anytime soon. As with all stories in the Bunny Cemetery it is available for adoption.
The awkward silence that followed Xander's slip about Angel being in town was only broken by the doorbell going off, making everyone at the table jump, even Spike. As no one was expecting visitors. The silence stretched before Spike finally broke it.
'Are you going to get that?' which was punctuated by the bell going off and staying on lie someone was leaning on the button. With an exasperated sigh Giles, with Buffy following behind, made his way to the door.
When the door was opened it revealed, an extremely attractive young man was revealed, he looked to be in his mid-twenties, with black hair and palest blue eyes Buffy had ever seen. The whole image was ruined for her by the smug smirk that he wore, one that made Buffy itch to wipe off with her fist. In fact, everything about him screamed predator. She focused her slayer senses on him and was momentary relieved by the sound of his heart beating, but that was replaced by an almost overwhelming sense of power rolling off him. It didn't feel demonic in nature just powerful and focused inwardly, however it did have a slight vampiric feel to it. It all spelled danger, and it set off Buffy's slayer instincts to protect but oddly her slayer side was wary about engaging him in combat. Buffy had never felt that reaction before and it stopped her from attacking him, but she did drop slightly into a ready stance in case he tried anything. The blue eyes flicked to her before focusing on Giles, the smirk widened slightly.
'Hello, Ripper,' there was amusement in his tone that suggested a hidden joke that she couldn't figure out. Giles stiffened at the old nickname, one that she'd only ever heard Ethan use before now.
'Damon.' Giles said, his icy tone could have frozen hell. 'What are you doing here?'
'Just wanted to catch up with an old friend.'
'We are hardly friends.' Giles said harshly. 'It's been a long day and I'm not interested in dealing with you.' The almost friendly air Damon had put up disappeared in an instant.
'I'm in need of your witchyness.' Damon said. 'And I'm not that interested in your day. It can't be worse than mine.'
'I don't care, and I don't practice anymore.'
'Once a witch always a witch,' Damon sing-songed. 'Besides, you owe me.'
'I don't owe you anything.'
'Oh really, does the name Eyghon ring any bells.' Judging by the look on Giles's face there was more to that story than he'd let on. But Damon didn't give any of them a chance to respond before continuing. 'While we could have this conversion with me standing out here, it wouldn't be very hospitable,' Damon said, then glanced around and stage whispered. 'What would the neighbours say?' but when it was clear that Giles was not going to budge, he sighed and rolled his eyes. 'Fine, I promise not to bite,' but then mumbled lowly but Buffy was still able to pick it up. 'Not that I could anyway.'
'It's ok, Giles, let him in,' Buffy said shooting a smirk in Damon's direction. 'I guessing he's been neutered.' Giles looked at her a she flicked her eyes to Spike then pointedly looked at Damon again. Giles sighed as he got her meaning. He stepped to one side and tensed before inviting him in. Damon never lost his smirk as he sauntered inside.
'Maybe later I can show how neutered I really am,' Damon said to Buffy as he passed with a suggestive eyebrow wiggle. He took one look at Spike then turned back to Giles.
'Really Ripper, hanging out with demons again, I would have thought you'd learnt your lesson after the last time.'
'Oh, go fuck yourself.' Giles responded. The shocked silence that followed was only broken by the duel sound of loud laughter from Spike and Damon.
